Jax came into our household about 4 months ago. We were dog sitting for him for my wife's brother. He was born in Detroit, MI to a family that breeds these dogs. Jax is a mild natured dog that does very well with kids. We didn't even hear him bark for the first time for a couple months and he loves to have his belly scratched. We have 10 acres in the country and our 7 little kids love to play with him on our property! His favorite kid is our 1 year old girl that likes to show him who is boss. She also likes to ride him and jump on him like he is a trampoline! As a herd dog he chases the boys on the dirt bike and tries to nip at the tires. Funny how their instincts come through so strong! Jax is a good mild mannered dog and that is why he is special to our family. With 7 kids thats basically a must. It's said that 1 in 26 dogs are good dogs for kids. The thing that makes us chuckle is sometimes he will just lay on his back with his legs spread and fall asleep. It is the most unusual position and we often wonder what causes him to do this! On November 23rd our kids were sliding down the driveway on their sleds and Jax was playing with them nicely. When a car came down the road, his herding instincts kicked in and he ran out in front of it and got hit with the kids watching. The driver brought him to the vet clinic, and they removed the air around his lungs and did X rays. Luckily it only turned out to be a broken leg. The leg is broken in an area that is going to require over $3,000 in medical costs due to a special surgery using rods and plates. Do to raising 7 children there just never seems to be any extra money laying around. The alternative to the surgery is to put him down 😩

Bear

Bear is a 6-year-old Great Pyrenees/ Labrador in Delphi who needs $2,000 for Heartworm/Possible Cancer Diagnosis.

Bear came into my life unexpectedly. My sister had him in her apartment without permission. When the landlord found out, she said, it’s you or the dog. Bear belonged to her boyfriend. When our family heard about the situation, I agreed to take Bear in. I had no idea what I was in for and he grew to be my best friend. Our entire family loves Bear so much! Bear loves everyone! He loves to play ball. Ball is his favorite thing to do. He will play catch with you all day if you let him. Bear loves on humans all the time. He loves to be hugged and petted. Bear loves all other animals too and will bark and bark til you take him to meet them. Bear is so friendly. He doesn’t know a stranger Bear always makes people smile. His pure love for humans is hard to resist. He will come up to you and just lay his head on your shoulder and just stay there. When you play catch with him, he will plow thru just about anything to get the ball. Sometimes knocking things over. It’s so funny sometimes. Bear was diagnosed with severe heart worms. We treated him for that and returned to the vet because his symptoms didn’t get better. They did an ultrasound an told us the heart worms were gone but now they believe that bear may have cancer. He has severe fluid retention. We’ve had him drained 3 times. We spent quite a bit in these past weeks and we need help. Anything would help We have spent all we can. There is just no more extra funds to help him. It would mean everything to us. He’s the best. We have a huge family and there are so many people that love bear.

Molly

Molly was a surprise adoption! I went to adopt her brother Mikey from his foster home and heard this awful racket upstairs while I was meeting him. The foster parents then let me know that he had a sister and they've never been separated. So we had her come down to say goodbye and she ran straight to me and curled up in my lap with all the kisses in the world for me. And that was that! Molly lives with her brother Mikey as well as two other dogs that have joined the pack, Sadie and Ghost. She loves chasing Ghost around the yard and snuggling with Mikey. Her and Sadie have competitions to see who can bark the loudest at the mailman. She follows my toddler around hoping he'll drop snacks and is the first one to lick his face when he falls! Molly is the most loyal dog I've ever met. She can walk/run with me off the leash and stays right with me. She loves on everyone, dog, human or cat, she doesn't care. She's so outgoing but very submissive. She hates confrontation. Molly is my sweet girl and is always by my side. She's not extremely vocal but loves to play! We first noticed something was wrong with Molly when she started gaining weight extremely fast. This followed by constant drinking of water, urinating too frequently, sluggishness and licking the air has led our veterinarian to believe she may have Cushing's. This is a hormone imbalance that causes our doggo to eat excessively to the point of harming herself if not treated. It can be treated though. Just to confirm this diagnosis, Molly may need three rounds of blood work which can cost up to $1000 alone before even starting her treatment. The treatment itself we are willing to take on ourselves financially but getting to that point will be expensive and we need help!

Chloe has been with our family for over 3 years. We got her from the Durham County Animal Rescue 2 months after My Wife and I got Married earlier in August. We Got Chloe out of an Arrangement, A Deal of Sorts as After we were married. I did not have any Dogs up to this point. I did not know what I was missing. The Joy She and my other Dog Charles Brought to my life is Incredible. Chloe and Charles Sleep in a Padded Crate in Our Craft Room Very Comfortably. She enjoys it there during the day, actually. We take walks in different places around our apartment complex. For the Morning Walk, it is Behind the Complex on the Grassy Area. For Lunch, it is Across the complex in the Front. She runs so fast, it is tricky to catch her. Her favorite thing to do is Lick. Chloe is a Super Special Pet due to the fact that she is the Sweetest Lifeform I know. No Malicious Bone what so ever. I love her like she is my own Daughter. In many ways she is. She actually listens most of the time. As I mentioned, she is a licker which is her way of letting you know she loves you. Per the last visit Chloe had with Dr. Ansel on 10/9/21 indicated that Chloe has 2 Teeth in the back of her Mouth. She is going to Require Oral Surgery that she needs Badly that is going to cost Upwards of $2200. She will be having the Procedure at Banfield Pet Hospital Performed by Dr. Ansel. I will be using $500 Care Credit, but Chloe will need the rest. I do work, but like most people in this economy, we just don't have a Spare $2000 laying around. It means everything to see Chloe not be in pain anymore. She is My Sweet Girl. I love her So Very Much. We are asking for some Assistance.

We adopted Pebbles( a longhair Dachshund)almost 4 years ago as a 1 month old puppy who was born with an underdeveloped right shoulder. We named her Pebbles in honor of my one sister's Dachshund's memory and because our Pebbles had a little white pebble marking on her forehead with a couple months after her birth. She resides with us and another Dachshund named Nutmeg who just turned 4 years old. Pebbles sleeps with Nutmeg (our other Dachshund) as they do not like to be apart from one another. Pebbles is a very attentive & observant little one who watches and takes everything in and follows my routine as I take care of her and Nutmeg; meaning she seems to know the exact order of the routine and wants to be right by my side at all times. Pebbles loves everybody and shows it affectionately. I along with my spouse are living on a fixed income as we are both on disability and do not have much credit established any longer due to lowered income. Pebbles is only 4 years old and to lose her at such a young age would be devastating as she is the light of our lives. Pebbles has a distended abdomen due to excess fluid which our Vet. told us is due to a critically low albumin level. She was referred to an Internist at a local referral hospital called Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital in Plains, Pa. whom is presently running a series of extensive tests to determine the cause of her condition which could involve any number of serious health issues. Pebbles has two favorite toys( a little tan pony and a green BoBo toy). She loves to howl along with Nutmeg especially when I sing to her as she loves music. She loves to give lots hugs and kisses to almost anybody. She caught onto playing fetch with a few other toys right away even though has only three functioning legs. She loves to watch tv if there are dogs on there barking or whimpering.

Mia was rescued on the side of the interstate with her brother Bentley. When I saw her sweet little face, I fell in love and brought her home. Over the years she has been with our family through ups and downs--a sister to her fellow furr-friends, a best friend to a boy through childhood, and a companion to this old lady. She is part of our family and loved dearly. Mia is a survivor, a tough girl with a will to live. She was hit by a car at a young age and lost her tail, but we made it through. Later in life she developed heartworms and endured aggressive therapy, but she overcame it. Just a year ago, we learned of her Cushings disease which requires daily medicine. Now we have a new issue that will require more meds. I just want to give my girl a chance When Mia was hit by the car, she had an open wound on the belly that could not be stitched or stapled. So we had to leave it open to heal from the inside out. Mia was patient through her healing, so trusting of us to care for her. I always get compliments on her polite, patient demeanor. She could teach us all a thing or two about having faith in people's kindness. Over the past year, we have lost 2 of our other furr-babies due to unforeseen circumstances. So I have had vet bills, one on top of the other. I just don't want to lose Mia too because I can't afford another vet bill. Her condition is treatable but a little expensive.

Athena came into my life through God‘s hands. My ex fiancé left me and her dog now my dog Athena, the goddess she has been my rock and Foundation as well as I am hers. This started yesterday while I was at the dentist getting a tooth pulled. I came home to some poop in the house which she never does fast-forward to last night which would be September 16. She woke me up about four times to go outside. I let her out she came back init. Happy

Hit by a car and living with painful untreated entropion… Happy is finally safe.

Happy is a young Shiba Inu mix, about 3 years old, who has likely spent years in pain. This resilient boy came to RBARI after running loose time and time again with painful untreated entropion, a condition where the eyelids roll inward and eyelashes scrape against the eyes with every blink. This constant discomfort also causes irritation, ulcers, and infection. He underwent surgery to correct his eyes and finally give him comfort, but this came at no low cost. But that’s not all. Happy is also recovering from wounds on both of his legs, likely after being hit by a car. He is currently receiving wound care and hydrotherapy at the shelter to help him heal. Despite everything, Happy is friendly, playful, and full of life – hence the name! He doesn’t love the cone or hydrotherapy, but he’s being brave through it all. RBARI needs your help to cover the cost of these treatments, so he can not only live happy, but also healthy, pain free, and hopefully in his forever home one day. Any amount would be appreciated. Bijou was rescued from Apple Valley Animal Shelter in California. After arriving at her foster home we realized she needed vet care for her leg. She needs a TPLO Surgery or amputation. Bijou is in a foster home with someone who adores her. She gets along with all other dogs and people, while she is young her injury slows her down due to the pain she experiences. Bijou has the personality of a Great Dane in the body of a kitten. She thinks she's mighty and rules all she sees, However, she is so kind and a lover of all animals large and small. Shortly after arriving in her foster home, we noticed Bijou was limping. We took her to the vet to investigate and upon receiving x-rays we discovered she needed a TPLO surgery or amputation. Per the vets recommendation, we opted for amputation. Bijou's surgery will be performed at Orchard Hills Vet Hospital in Washougal, WA. Our rescue has significant medical bills for pets. We are in urgent need to give every animal the treatment they deserve. In the short time we have been established we have rescued over 250 animals.
