Jolie was supposed to be welcoming life into the world — instead, she was fighting for her own.

This beautiful young mama arrived at the local public shelter in active labor, but something was terribly wrong. Along with the stress and pain of giving birth in a frightening shelter environment, Jolie was suffering from a prolapsed uterus — a life-threatening medical emergency that could have cost her everything. Without immediate intervention, Jolie and her unborn kittens may not have survived. The shelter reached out for help, and Cats’ Meow Rescue sprang into action, rushing Jolie straight to the veterinary hospital where a team was waiting to save her life. X-rays revealed another complication: Jolie still had a kitten trapped inside her womb. She was unable to deliver the baby safely on her own, and time was running out. Veterinarians moved quickly to perform an emergency C-section, while also spaying Jolie to prevent further trauma and infection. Thanks to that lifesaving surgery, five precious kittens were delivered into the world. One tiny baby — the kitten who had been stuck inside — struggled in those first fragile moments. Everyone feared the worst. But Jolie is a fighter, and her little family followed her lead. With intensive monitoring, warmth, and supportive care, that kitten pulled through. Today, her foster mom says you’d never know which one had such a difficult start. Through everything she has endured, Jolie has been an incredible mother. Despite emergency surgery, pain, and the trauma her body has suffered, she has lovingly cared for her newborns, nursing them, cleaning them, and keeping them safe. But Jolie’s journey has not been without setbacks. Just one week after surgery, she developed a painful post-operative infection and had to return to the veterinarian for additional treatment and antibiotics to keep complications from spiraling. Thankfully, Jolie and all five babies are now stable and doing well in foster care — but the medical bills from her emergency rescue continue to mount. This little family is safe today because help came just in time. Now we need your help to make sure Cats’ Meow Rescue can continue saying yes to emergencies like Jolie’s. Jolie’s babies got the chance to open their eyes in safety because their mama was given a second chance. Please help us give this deserving family the healthy future they fought so hard for. 5/6/26 Update: Family is fine but smaller. While Jolie has been a good momma, nursing all five kittens has been causing her a lot of pain due to the C-section. Luckily for kittens and Jolie, Cats’ Meow rescue has several other nursing momma cats and one of them was willing to be adoptive momma to three of Jolie’s kittens. This allows Jolie to continue being a good momma to two without much pain and the other three are well looked after. 5/9/26 Update: Photos updated a photo and video were deleted. 5/21/26 Update Jolie’s little family has come so far since the terrifying day she arrived at the shelter in active labor, fighting for her life. What should have been the joyful birth of her kittens quickly turned into a medical emergency when staff discovered Jolie was suffering from a prolapsed uterus and unable to safely deliver one of her babies. Without immediate intervention, both Jolie and her kittens could have been lost. Thanks to the quick action of the shelter, Cats’ Meow Rescue, and the veterinary team who rushed to save her, Jolie underwent an emergency C-section and lifesaving surgery just in time. Today, we are so grateful to share that Jolie and all five kittens survived this ordeal and are continuing to do well in foster care. The road has not been easy. After surgery, Jolie developed a painful infection that required additional veterinary treatment and antibiotics. Recovering from a C-section while trying to nurse five hungry newborns also became incredibly painful and exhausting for her little body. Thankfully, Cats’ Meow Rescue had other nursing mama cats in care, and one wonderful adoptive mama stepped in to help raise three of Jolie’s kittens. This gave Jolie the chance to focus on healing while continuing to care for two of her babies herself. The kittens are thriving, growing stronger every day, and you would never guess which tiny kitten once struggled so hard after being trapped inside Jolie during labor. Watching this family recover together has been nothing short of incredible. Most importantly, Jolie is finally getting the chance to simply rest, heal, and be safe. Despite everything her body endured, she has remained a loving, devoted mother through it all. We are deeply grateful to every person who donated, shared, and supported Jolie’s story. From Forgotten to Fixed: Help Sunny Get the Care He Deserves

Sunny didn’t belong in the shadows of a feral colony. When he was trapped as part of a routine TNR (trap-neuter-return) effort, it was immediately clear — this older gentleman was different. Friendly. Gentle. Craving human connection. While the other cats kept their distance, Sunny leaned in. It quickly became obvious: Sunny wasn’t feral. He was likely lost… or worse, abandoned. Without a microchip and struggling to survive in a colony where he didn’t quite fit, Sunny was trying his best — but his body told the truth of what he’s been through. He needs help. A lot of it. Sunny has already had bloodwork done twice and completed a course of antibiotics to stabilize some of his medical issues. But he’s not out of the woods yet. To truly give him a second chance, he urgently needs: \\\\\\\\- Neuter surgery — the cornerstone of this month’s spay/neuter efforts, and critical for his long-term health and safety - A major dental procedure, including removal of his painful canine teeth (we’re hopeful his molars can be saved) - Tail amputation due to damage that cannot heal on its own - Ear cleaning and treatment for discomfort and infection - Lice treatment to relieve ongoing irritation - Final care for an ulcerated leg wound, including removal of remaining dead tissue so it can fully heal Right now, Sunny is in foster care, finally safe — but he’s not comfortable yet. He’s living with pain that is treatable, conditions that are fixable, and a future that is absolutely within reach. And it all starts with his neuter. Spay and neuter isn’t just about preventing more homeless animals — it’s about giving cats like Sunny a real shot at stability, healing, and placement into loving homes. His neuter will set him on the path to adoption. Once Sunny has completed his medical care, he will remain in foster until we find him the forever home he deserves — one where he never has to wonder if he’s safe again. They took samples of tissue in his mouth and he appears to have stomatitis, so he will probably need some more help with his mouth. Right now he has to eat really soft food. 5/6/26 Update: Seeing Doc about my toofies Sunny in to see the vet again about his teeth/gums 5/9/26 Update: Sunny is Struggling Sunny went back to the vet for more tooth work and started running a fever (105). This is high. He was immediately put on antibiotics and is more perky but still weak. He is showing some liver enlargement and X-rays show he has been shot in the past! Poor Sunny, he really needs some help. 5/21/26 Update Sunny has been through more than we could ever fully know, but we are so happy to share that this sweet boy is finally starting to feel better. When Sunny first came to us through a TNR effort, it was immediately obvious he did not belong outside fighting to survive in a feral colony. Friendly, affectionate, and desperate for human attention, Sunny was clearly a cat who had once known love. But his body showed the heartbreaking reality of life on the streets — painful dental disease, injuries, infection, lice, an ulcerated wound, and damage to his tail that ultimately required amputation. As his medical journey unfolded, we discovered even more. Sunny developed a dangerously high fever after additional dental work, showed signs of liver enlargement, and X-rays revealed something truly devastating: at some point in his life, Sunny had been shot. Despite everything he has endured, Sunny has remained incredibly gentle and trusting. Thanks to your support, Sunny was able to receive his neuter surgery, tail amputation, extensive veterinary care, diagnostics, medications, and ongoing treatment for his painful mouth issues. We now believe he is dealing with stomatitis, which means his recovery will likely be slower and require continued management and soft foods while his mouth heals. The good news is that Sunny is finally feeling better. His fever has resolved, he is more comfortable, and he is regaining strength little by little every day. While he still has healing ahead of him, we are incredibly hopeful about his future. Recovery for cats like Sunny is rarely quick or simple. Years of neglect and untreated medical issues take time to overcome. But for the first time in a very long time, Sunny is safe, cared for, and surrounded by people who are committed to helping him heal at his own pace. We are so grateful to everyone who donated, shared his story, and gave this sweet older boy a chance. Because of you, Sunny no longer has to suffer alone outside. Jack Sparrow was found suffering on the streets of Miami — injured, infected, and completely alone

This poor cat had clearly been suffering for far too long. Covered in demodex mange, unfixed, FIV-positive, and weak from life outside, Jack Sparrow’s body showed all the signs of prolonged neglect. But the most devastating injury was impossible to ignore — he has a large, gaping open wound that requires intensive daily bandage changes, constant cleaning, and close veterinary monitoring to prevent infection and help the tissue heal. Every single day, this wound must be carefully treated. Without that ongoing care, Jack Sparrow is at serious risk for worsening infection, prolonged pain, and complications that could become life-threatening. On top of his wound management, Jack Sparrow is also being treated for severe demodex mange, a skin condition that leaves cats itchy, inflamed, and vulnerable to secondary infections. As an FIV-positive cat, his immune system is already compromised, making his recovery even more delicate and urgent. As soon as he is medically stable, Jack Sparrow will also need to be neutered. Neutering is a critical part of his recovery and future safety. Intact male cats like Jack Sparrow are far more likely to roam, engage in aggressive fights, sustain serious injuries, and spread illnesses like FIV throughout community cat populations. Without neuter, the dangerous cycle that likely led to his condition simply continues. By neutering Jack Sparrow, we are not only helping him live a healthier, safer life — we are preventing future suffering for other cats as well. Terry Was Facing Euthanasia Until SOCKS Stepped In

Terry’s tiny front leg never quite touched the ground. Twisted and permanently bent, it hovered awkwardly in the air as she struggled to hobble from place to place. Every step was difficult, yet somehow, this sweet girl never stopped purring. When Save Our Cats And Kittens (SOCKS) first heard about Terry, she was facing euthanasia at another organization because of her severe deformity. We couldn’t let her story end there. We welcomed Terry into our care and rushed her to the veterinarian, hoping there was a way to give her the comfortable life she deserved. After examining her, the veterinarian recommended amputating the malformed leg so Terry could finally move without pain and difficulty. It was the right decision — but also an expensive one for a small rescue like ours. Thankfully, Terry’s surgery went beautifully. Now, instead of struggling to balance on a useless limb, she’s recovering comfortably in foster care, showering everyone around her with nonstop purrs and affection. In fact, her foster mom has already fallen completely in love and plans to adopt Terry once she’s fully healed. For Terry, this is the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. But for rescues like ours, every medical emergency stretches our resources to the limit. Terry’s veterinary care totaled about $300. To many, that may not sound overwhelming, but for a small rescue juggling countless cats in need, every unexpected surgery, every emergency vet visit, and every bag of food adds up quickly. Broken Leg, Tick Disease, and Now Surgery — Olive Needs Critical Care

Olive’s story almost ended before it even began. A good Samaritan found her after she was likely hit by a car, and rushed her to the emergency vet where her leg was stabilized with a splint. From there, she was passed from clinic to clinic, searching for help — but no one was able to take responsibility for her care. She was in pain, injured, and out of options. And then we got the call. We couldn’t let her story end there. Now safe under our care, Olive is scheduled for orthopedic surgery. Her leg injury is serious and requires a surgical plate to repair the damage and give her any chance at walking normally again. But Olive’s situation is even more complex. She has tested positive for Lyme disease and Ehrlichia (E. canis) — tick-borne illnesses that complicate her treatment and make surgery riskier. Because of the increased bleeding risk, she cannot be spayed at the same time as her orthopedic procedure, meaning she will require additional care down the road. Right now, Olive urgently needs: \- Emergency orthopedic surgery with a plate to repair her leg - Pain management and post-operative care - A full month of doxycycline to treat her tick-borne illnesses - Ongoing monitoring due to surgical and medical risks - Boarding during recovery, as we currently have no placement available Despite everything she’s been through, Olive is very sweet — 52 pounds of pure love, soaking up every bit of kindness she’s offered. She is gentle, trusting, and still believes people will take care of her. We’re determined to prove her right. But we can’t do this alone. Between emergency surgery, medical treatment, and extended boarding, Olive’s care is costly and urgent. Saying “yes” to her meant taking on all of it — because the alternative was unthinkable. Despite her painful past, she continues to show everyone just how gentle, trusting, and loving she is. She still has a long recovery ahead of her, including rest, monitoring, medications, and follow-up care to ensure her leg heals properly. But thanks to your support, Olive now has the chance she deserved all along — the chance to heal safely and move toward a brighter future. And in true Olive fashion, she has already chosen her foster sibling Whale as her “boyfriend!” She’s now enjoying supervised playtime in the backyard as she continues rebuilding strength in her leg, and watching her run, play, and simply enjoy life again has been incredibly rewarding for everyone involved in her journey. Sweet Betty needs your help!

Betty was found sitting quietly at a stop sign when Castaway Critters was called to rescue her. She is only about a year old, but her body tells a much harder story. When she was found, Betty was severely emaciated, her small frame worn down from what appears to have been life as a breeder mom. She had painful bite wounds, a severe infection, and her teeth had been filed down. Her skin was inflamed with hot spots, and in her distress, she had chewed her own paw pads so badly that she could barely walk. And yet, Betty greets people with the sweetest spirit. Despite everything she has endured, she wiggles with excitement when someone comes near. Her little body tries so hard to show happiness, and her tiny underbite gives her the most endearing smile. She leans into gentle hands and looks up with trusting eyes, as if she still believes that kindness is coming. Betty is now safe, but her road to recovery will be long. She needs intensive veterinary care to treat her infections, heal her skin, manage her pain, and help her regain strength so she can walk comfortably again. For a dog so young who has already suffered so much, this care is essential to give her the life she deserves. We are asking for help to give Betty that chance. Pup, lovingly nicknamed “Pupperoni,” first came into our lives in September 2025 when his owner enrolled him in training with my husband, Tyler. Over the past several months, we trained and boarded him multiple times and grew very attached to him. About three weeks ago, his owner decided she could no longer keep him and planned to surrender him to a shelter. We stepped in immediately, brought him After worsening blood blisters on his stomach began bleeding, we brought Pup to the vet for evaluation. A fine needle aspirate revealed mast cells in one mass, raising concern for a mast cell tumor, while the blood-filled lesions may be hemangiomas or hemangiosarcomas. Surgery and biopsy are urgently needed to determine severity and remove the masses safely. Pup is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever met. Despite everything he’s been through, he loves cuddling close to his people, soaking up the sunshine outside, and being part of the family. He’s incredibly affectionate, goofy, and eager to please. Watching him finally feel safe and loved has made us completely fall in love with “Pupperoni.” I’m currently in CRNA school, so we are living on a single income while unexpectedly fostering Pup. Lily Was Brought In to Be Euthanized; We’re Giving Her a Chance

Lily wobbles when she walks. Born with cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that makes her unsteady, she lived a happy, loved life until her owner was placed into assisted living. Overnight, Lily lost her person, her home, and the only safety she had ever known. She was grieving and scared, and even began peeing outside the litter box — a common stress response in cats. She was brought to a vet to be euthanized, but thankfully the clinic refused. Instead, Lily spent her days crated while the office searched for help. When one of our volunteers walked in and saw Lily, she knew we at A Pathway to Hope needed to help. Once in foster, the full picture became clear. Lily arrived matted, with diarrhea, vomiting, and incontinence worse than described. She was taken to our vet, and we are now addressing her urinary inflammation, digestive issues, and other medical concerns so she can finally get the relief she deserves. Through it all, Lily remains gentle and incredibly loving. She purrs the moment someone enters the room. She adores warmth, seeks out people and her heating pad, and simply wants to feel safe again. And we intend on helping her do just that. Lily was nearly lost because she needed help, not because she was beyond saving. She’s a reminder of how quickly vulnerable animals can fall through the cracks, and how urgently our Medical Fund is needed to catch them. Lily fought to stay alive. Now she needs us to fight for her. A Pathway to Hope takes in several urgent cases every month and we can’t continue to do so, without generous donations. 3/18/26 Update Despite her challenges, Lily greets each day with the sweetest spirit. This tiny girl may be a little wobbly and have some challenges with potty habits, but her gentle personality and loving spirit make everyone who meets her fall in love. Lily is happiest when she’s close to her people, soaking up attention and affection. While she is safe and loved in foster care, Lily does have some medical needs that we are continuing to manage. Our veterinary team has discovered that she is dealing with significant dental disease, which is unfortunately very common in cats and can be quite uncomfortable. We are planning a dental procedure for Lily in the coming weeks to help relieve that pain and improve her overall comfort. For now, she is being monitored closely and enjoying the love and patience of her foster family. 5/18/26 Update Thank you to everyone who supported sweet Lily on her healing journey. We are so grateful for your love and care as Lily's journey is not quite over. She still needs to have a dental procedure, but we are hopeful all will go well and will be able to find her forever home soon. She desereves it.

Help Oreo Get the Pain Relief He Desperately Needs

Meet Oreo, a handsome ten-year-old tuxedo cat from California who has been a source of love, comfort, and emotional support for his devoted mom for nearly a decade. Now, this sweet senior boy urgently needs help. Oreo has been diagnosed with painful dental disease causing infections and inflammation, along with stomach inflammation that also requires treatment. His veterinarian has recommended urgent dental care, including possible extractions, to relieve his pain and restore his quality of life. The estimated cost for his treatment begins at $404.31 and may increase depending on how many teeth need to be removed. Thankfully, Oreo’s veterinarian is optimistic and believes he is expected to make an excellent recovery after surgery. But before that can happen, his mom needs help covering the cost of his care. With the support of a $150 grant from Paws 4 A Cure, she is still trying to raise an additional $400 so Oreo can finally receive the treatment he desperately needs.
