At Panther Ridge Conservation Center, trust is at the heart of everything we do. Through cooperative care training, our cats voluntarily participate in their own medical exams—allowing us to perform routine health checks and diagnostics without the stress or risks of sedation. This compassionate approach keeps our felines calm, comfortable, and safe while giving our veterinary team the critical information they need. This level of monitoring is ongoing. We recently collected blood from Lura, our 7-year-old clouded leopard, to stay ahead of any potential health changes. Because Lura is trained to calmly offer her tail for blood draws, we can quickly run diagnostic panels and adjust her care as needed. We are also managing the long-term wellness of our senior residents, including Delilah, a 23-year-old ocelot, and Nuri, a 13-year-old clouded leopard. Daily supplements and medications such as Epakitin and Cosequin help support their kidney health and mobility as they age. Our ambassador cheetahs, Kendi and Nyambe, participate in the same voluntary care program. This training was especially critical when Nyambe recently recovered from pythiosis, a rare environmental infection. Because he could calmly sit for daily treatments, he avoided repeated anesthesia. Both cheetahs continue to receive follow-up blood work, and Kendi is being closely monitored after a recent skin lesion biopsy. Lura, our 7-year-old clouded leopard, is doing well. Through her voluntary blood draw training, we are able to routinely monitor her diagnostic panels and stay proactive about her health. Because she calmly offers her tail for blood collection, we can quickly assess any changes and adjust her care without the stress of sedation. Our senior residents, Delilah (23-year-old ocelot) and Nuri (13-year-old clouded leopard), continue receiving their daily kidney and joint supplements, including Epakitin and Cosequin. These supportive therapies are essential in maintaining their comfort, mobility, and quality of life as they age — and we monitor them closely to ensure their needs are consistently met. Our ambassador cheetahs, Kendi and Nyambe, also remain under careful veterinary supervision. After bravely recovering from pythiosis, Nyambe continues with follow-up monitoring to ensure the infection does not return. Kendi is healing well following her recent skin lesion biopsy, and ongoing blood work allows us to track her overall health. Thrown Away on I-95: Help Alastair Heal 💔

This week Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation was faced with a nightmare we wish we never had to see again. Alastair—a tiny kitten weighing just 1.5 pounds—was thrown from a moving vehicle on I-95. Discarded like trash. Left helpless on the roadway with painful road rash and no way to protect himself. Thankfully, a compassionate good Samaritan witnessed the unthinkable, contacted the police, and brought Alastair to us for help. Because of that one act of kindness, this little life was saved. While Alastair appears to be otherwise physically stable, the trauma he endured goes far beyond his injuries. Being violently abandoned at such a young age leaves emotional scars that take time, patience, and gentle care to heal. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. In South Florida, cruelty and abandonment like this have become far too common. Every day, we are called to help animals who have been neglected, abused, or discarded when they are no longer wanted. It is heartbreaking—and it stretches our rescue to its limits. Alastair survived something no animal ever should. Tiny Duke Is Fighting for His Life — He Needs Us Now

At just 2 months old, Duke should be learning to play, explore, and feel safe in the world. Instead, this fragile puppy was found with a crushed back leg, alone and in unbearable pain. By the time the Stray Animal Foundation of India rescue team reached him, Duke had already lost a dangerous amount of blood. His gums were pale, his tiny body weak, and his breathing shallow. Tests confirmed the worst: Duke is severely anemic and cannot survive surgery without an immediate blood transfusion. Only after stabilizing him can our veterinarians perform the amputation that will save his life. This little pup is fighting with everything he has — but he cannot win this battle alone. Right now Duke urgently needs a life-saving blood transfusion, intensive stabilization and, monitoring, amputation surgery to remove the destroyed limb, pain management, antibiotics, and ongoing hospitalization. Despite everything he has endured, Duke still tries to lift his head when spoken to. There is a softness in him, a trust that somehow survived the trauma. Help Lexi Heal After Being Abandoned at Her Most Vulnerable 💔

Lexi was found alone on the road after being abandoned by her former family at the moment she needed them most. A kind passerby couldn’t leave her there and brought her to safety. When Lexi arrived, she was paralyzed, severely malnourished, dehydrated, and in shock—both physically and emotionally. We don’t yet know what caused her paralysis, but it’s clear that this is why she was discarded. Now Lexi is safe with ACF Animal Rescue. She’s currently in our cattery, slowly adjusting to a life that looks nothing like the one she knew before. She’s confused, frightened, and trying to understand how everything changed so suddenly. Beneath her thick fur is a body that is all skin and bone. Her weakness is profound, and right now her care is focused on stabilizing her—rehydration, nutritional support, and carefully chosen supplements to help rebuild her strength. Once Lexi is stronger and ready, we plan to begin gentle physiotherapy. Our goal is to help her body regain as much sensation and mobility as possible, while supporting her comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Lexi may have been left behind, but she is not alone anymore. With your help, we can give her the care, love, and second chance she deserves. Our team is cautiously hopeful that, with continued treatment and close monitoring, Lexi will pull through. She is a true sweetheart, and she continues to show us just how strong she is. Frail, thin, and struggling to breathe through severe congestion, Rosie walked up to the president of Adopt A Cat Foundation… and gently leaned into his hand, almost seeming to ask for h Despite her fragile appearance, her cloudy eye, and her wheezing breaths, Rosie trusted us enough to be approached and placed into a carrier — as if she knew she finally had a chance to be saved. Now safe in our care, Rosie’s long journey to healing begins. For the first time in her life, Rosie won’t have to fight for warmth, food, or safety. With proper medical care, nourishment, and love, she will recover — and one day soon, she’ll be ready for adoption and a forever home where she will never have to struggle again. Sweet senior kitty Smokey urgently needs our help

Recently rescued from the small island of Moloka‘i, Smokey was rushed to the hospital after suffering a severe neurological seizure and being diagnosed with pneumonia. Her condition was critical, and she needed immediate, intensive care to survive. Veterinarians quickly began a full diagnostic workup to find the cause of her pneumonia and determine whether she could fully recover. She underwent ultrasounds, an echocardiogram, and extensive bloodwork. Thankfully, all of these tests came back normal—confirming that she wasn’t in heart failure. Instead, doctors discovered age-related thickening of her heart wall, which, while considered normal in older cats, is still concerning. Smokey’s road has been incredibly difficult. She spent more than a week in critical care and remains on a feeding tube to prevent refeeding syndrome after going without proper nutrition for several weeks. The good news is that she’s beginning to show interest in food again and is responding well to fluids and antibiotics. Small victories mean everything—but we're not out of the woods yet. Based on her symptoms, veterinarians suspect she may have neurological FIP, and she has now begun treatment for that as well. Her prognosis is hopeful, but the cost of keeping her alive and giving her a chance at a healthy future has quickly grown overwhelming. Smokey has already had weeks of costly, round-the-clock care, and her medical bills continue to climb. She is fighting with everything she has, and her rescuers at RKH are doing the same—with extremely limited resources. Now that she has made it through the most dangerous part of her journey, we’re asking for your support. Any donation, no matter the size, will help give Smokey the chance to thrive for years to come. She has wonderful doctors who make sure she is not in pain. She is simply living her days surrounded by love, exactly as every soul deserves.

Kevin Was Too Scared to Ask for Help… But We Heard Him

Kevin was found in heartbreaking condition, wandering desperately in search of food while suffering from a severe and unexplained injury around his neck. We don’t know how he was hurt or what he endured before we found him — only that he had clearly been suffering for far too long, and no one had stepped forward to help him. When ACF Animal Rescue brought Kevin into safety, it was immediately clear that he was afraid of people. He kept his distance, stayed quiet, and curled into himself as if trying to disappear. Kevin is an introverted, gentle soul who has learned to survive by staying out of sight — and considering the state he was found in, we can’t blame him. But even in his fear, Kevin showed something remarkable: trust. He allowed our team to begin treatment on his painful neck injury. He let us clean his wounds and provide care. And slowly, day by day, his body began to relax in our presence. Kevin still prefers his own space, still moves carefully and cautiously, but he is healing — not just physically, but emotionally. Kevin’s recovery is just beginning, and he will need ongoing medical care, wound treatment, follow-up vet visits, and plenty of time in a stress-free environment to regain his strength and confidence. Help Japon Heal: From Abandoned to Hopeful

Japon is a 2-year-old poodle mix whose life could have ended very differently. He was found near a bus terminal by a compassionate resident who knew he needed help and brought him straight to the hospital. That single act of kindness saved his life. When Japon arrived, he was in rough condition—dangerously thin, covered in fleas, and suffering from a painful abdominal wound. Veterinary exams revealed the true extent of his injuries: Japon had suffered a traumatic impact—likely from a car or another force—that caused his intestines to herniate, a life-threatening condition. Thanks to the incredible generosity of a donor, Japon was able to undergo emergency surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. During that procedure, our medical team discovered a second hernia, requiring an additional surgical correction. Japon is now hospitalized, receiving pain management, close monitoring, and around-the-clock care as he recovers. Because Japon was abandoned, his journey isn’t over yet. He still needs: · A second surgical procedure · Sterilization · Vaccinations and deworming · Continued hospitalization and follow-up care Once healed, Japon will be placed up for adoption so he can finally know safety, stability, and love. Julio came to us just a few weeks ago with his littermates. Julio was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a condition that makes him unsteady on his feet. He wobbles, he tumbles, and he gets right back up again. But recently, something terrifying started happening. Julio began having seizures—two in just one week. Even as his tiny body shakes, he still purrs. It’s nothing short of heartbreaking. This brave boy has a long road ahead. He has a vet appointment soon and a neurology consultation scheduled for the 24th. He’ll need a full workup — bloodwork, advanced testing, and medications to help control the seizures. And that’s just the beginning. We’ve already learned that Julio’s medical mystery runs deeper than we thought. At 12 weeks old, while his siblings are strong and healthy at nearly four pounds, Julio weighs just 1.8. He’s a fraction of their size. His symptoms don’t fully match his CH diagnosis. The seizures, the slow weight gain, the setbacks — they tell us there’s something more going on. We’re waiting anxiously for answers, but Julio doesn’t make it easy to relax. Because this morning, he threw us another curveball—a rectal prolapse, which now requires surgery. So here we are again, rallying for our little miracle kitten.
