Buttons is an 11-year-old orange sweetheart who first belonged to my mother, who passed away in February. Since then, she has settled perfectly into our home. She lives indoors only now, alongside the rest of our fur family, and fits seamlessly into daily life. Named for her small nose — Buttons — she is a living link to my mom, a daily reminder wrapped in fur and quiet affection. She brings comfort even on the hardest of days. Buttons isn’t just a cat with a medical issue; she’s personality, love, history, and resilience all packed into a tiny body that’s a force of love. She is extraordinarily gentle, insists on being held like a baby instead of just sitting in a lap, carries her toys proudly, and meows with joy while playing. She even insists on baked chicken with her meals, mixed just right with her wet food and treats. A few months before my mother passed, Buttons developed a serious eye injury. At her first vet visit, it wasn’t immediately threatening, so we thought we had time to prepare. Last week, her condition worsened suddenly. Her vet now recommends surgery to remove the eye within the month. Surgery is non-negotiable for her comfort and safety. Paws4ever has generously provided $500 toward Buttons’ care, which helped cover vet visits and medications. The total cost for her surgery and bloodwork is estimated at $1,500–$1,600, leaving roughly $1,000–$1,100 still needed to give Buttons the care she urgently requires. Meet Heath—A Brave Survivor

This is Heath, the sweetest soul who experienced a horrendous attack when he was viciously bitten by a larger dog. CAMO came to the rescue. Heath was left with bite wounds all over his body. The injuries to his leg were so severe that the only option was amputation surgery, which cost $2,647. Today, Heath is recovering and learning how to adjust to life on three legs. Despite all he’s been through, he remains loving, resilient, and eager for affection. His courage inspires us every single day, but his journey is far from over. Help Raja and Rambo, Two Young Kittens Found Alone in an Abandoned House, Get the Veterinary Care They Need

These sweet boys were discovered in an abandoned house, desperately trying to squeeze out of a window in search of safety. Their cries for help didn’t go unheard—Cathy’s Cats Corporation rushed to the scene and rescued them. Alongside Raja and Rambo was their mama, who was also safely trapped. While she came in for TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return), the happiest surprise is that she turned out to be friendly too—meaning she’ll also have the chance at a loving home! Raja and Rambo are now safe, loved, and learning to trust people. But before they can be adopted, they need to be neutered, vetted, and cared for. That’s where we need your help. Cathy’s Cats Corporation is a small, volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to TNVR and lifesaving rescue. While TNVR keeps community cats safe and stops the cycle of kittens being born on the streets, when young kittens like Raja and Rambo are found, it takes extra resources to get them adoption-ready. Update 9/15/25 Raja and Rambo have been neutered and have received their vaccinations! These handsome boys handled their surgeries like champs and are already back to their sweet, playful selves.

A Senior Soul Deserving Comfort

Lilly was first spotted at the riverfront, wandering with another dog, clearly searching for safety and care. Concerned people called the shelter, and that’s when her story came to light. She had an owner, but he was homeless—and for the past year, so was she. Now, at 8–10 years old, this sweet senior girl has finally been taken into One by One Animal Advocates. Thin and frail, with a noticeably large tumor on her side and fly bitten ears, she is facing an uphill battle—but one they are determined to help her fight through. So far, she’s received a 4DX test, full blood work, and chest X-rays. Next, she’s scheduled for an ultrasound to prepare for surgery. Her body shows the wear of years without consistent food, shelter, or medical attention, but her gentle spirit still shines through. She deserves warmth. She deserves health. She deserves to know love in her golden years. But we can’t do it alone. Her ongoing diagnostics and care are costly, and we need your help to give her the healing and comfort she’s been denied for too long. Update 9/17/25 Lilly’s mass was successfully removed and sent for histopathology. Unfortunately, it came back as a sarcoma (cancer), and the vet believes he got clean margins. She spent three weeks hospitalized for monitoring, wound care, and bandage changes. The vet staff called her a sweet old gal who would allow them to do anything to her. She was just recently discharged to a foster home to complete her recovery, and she has learned that she receives a treat after her walk. She loves to spend the afternoon napping on the couch. Having this big tumor that weighed her down for years removed surely added comfort to her remaining years.

Meet Blanche—A Tiny Fighter

At just 7–8 weeks old, Blanche was attacked by a dog and turned away from two shelters in Kentucky before finally making her way to One by One Animal Rescue. This sweet little girl has severe injuries—possible loss of an eye and painful jaw fractures that will require her jaw to be rewired. In the beginning, she was so weak she had to be tube-fed and given fluids just to survive. With gentle care, she’s progressed to syringe feedings, showing us her incredible will to fight for her life. Blanche’s journey is far from over. She’ll need ongoing medical care, surgery, and lots of love to heal and grow into the healthy, happy kitten she deserves to be. 💔 They can’t do this without you. Little Lizzie’s Big Fight Against Panleuk

Lizzie’s story is one of heartbreak turned hope. She was abandoned at a vet clinic by her owner, who refused to pay for her treatment, even though her condition seemed minor at first. The vet had no one available to care for her over the weekend, so Spicy Whiskers Rescue stepped in, thinking she just needed a little support and some basic care. But it quickly became clear Lizzie was far sicker than anyone realized. Over the weekend, she began to decline. Her energy disappeared, she stopped eating, and her small body grew weaker by the hour. Just as she was being transported to her vet appointment Monday morning, Lizzie crashed. Emergency testing confirmed the terrifying diagnosis: panleukopenia, a highly contagious and often deadly virus that hits young cats the hardest. She was immediately hospitalized and placed on IV fluids, antibiotics, and intensive supportive care. Lizzie remained in the hospital for five long days, fighting with everything she had. Slowly but surely, her body began to respond. Her appetite returned. Her strength began to build. Thanks to fast action and dedicated care, Lizzie is now on the road to recovery. She still has healing ahead, but her sweet spirit is shining through again and her future is once more full of promise. Now we’re asking for your help. Lizzie’s emergency care came with a steep cost, but her life was worth every moment and every dollar. Rocky
Help Rocky Through a Horrible Attack

One by One Animal Rescue was asked to help a stray dog who was attacked by a pack of dogs. A good Samaritan had been feeding him and thought she had found him a home, but the family brought him back to her after the attack. The good Samaritan was distraught by the situation, but he was not her dog, and she could not afford an emergency bill. She reached out to the rescue pleading for help saying that he could barely walk, and that “he smells like potted meat”. Rocky went straight to the ER, where they gave him his name. He is approximately 35 pounds, estimating 5-6 years old but it's hard to determine. He suffered wounds to his head, but his groin and neck took the brunt of the attack. Understandably, he was in a lot of pain, making the exam difficult. His liver values were elevated and he has a grade 4 heart murmur, so he cant be sedated. On top of that, he is Lyme positive. He is limping on his front leg possibly from Lyme disease or the attack; it has been too painful to XRY him. He has received injectable and oral pain meds. They gave him a partial bath until they got to his neck and he became distressed, so they allowing him to rest. The most notable thing the ER vets said was that they have smelled a lot of things, but nothing as bad as him. Sadly, the infection was raging. He is on two antibiotics. Rocky has a long road ahead to recover, and desperately needs your prayers and donations. Whenever One by One encounters injuries like Rocky’s, they have to consider the road to recovery and long term prognosis and factor in medical advice given by the vet. They knew Rocky was in a lot of pain, that his injuries were severe, and the infection possibly the worst the vet staff has encountered. A couple days later, the vet started IV fluids, which had previously been held due to high liver values, so he could add an additional high-powered IV antibiotic. The chlorhexadine bath helped some with the odor but the wounds have drained (a good thing), and the smell is still present. An inspection of his neck and ear suggest that skin will slough off. With all of that being said, Rocky is bright and alert, has offered a tail wag, and is drinking. We pray the dark days are behind him and this rescue vows to walk side by side with Rocky offering support every step of the way until he steps again into the sunshine. We are thankful for a report that suggested a little improvement. Their plan is to transfer him tomorrow to a day clinic. Rocky needs your prayers, your love, and your encouragement. I found déjà when he came to my door during a severe winter storm. He was meowing and meowing at my back door, extremely cold and hadn’t eaten in days. I let him in and he ran in the house immediately but hid for about a week. After that, he warmed up to me and became the most loving cat I’ve ever owned. He has been with me ever since and that was approximately 11 years ago. Déjà has what is called resorptive lesions, which make his mouth extremely painful and he is unable to eat. This often causes him to even have nausea and vomiting because of the pain. He will not eat or drink for several days and this is very detrimental to his health and well-being. My cat has been with me for 11 years and he is the most loving sweetest cat I have ever owned. I also have two dogs, and they love déjà very much. Deja has been a part of my family for a very long time. I hate seeing him suffer, and I am very concerned about his health. He needs to get dental work done, including surgery for his resorptive lesions. Make very little money and it is everything I can do to keep up with my rent and bill bills. Dasha is a part of my family and I love him dearly and I hate seeing him suffer.

Cherish's Journey From Trauma to Triumph

A witness watched in horror as someone walked onto their third-floor balcony with a tiny kitten in hand, then cruelly hurled her over the edge. The kitten landed headfirst on the pavement below. She lay there, injured and helpless, until a homeless woman, struggling herself, rushed to her side. With no transportation, she walked a long distance to the nearest vet, begging them to save the kitten's life. That kitten is now named Cherish. Cherish arrived at the clinic with visible scars on her head and ears, head trauma, and what appeared to be blindness in one eye. She was in shock and severely disoriented. The vet couldn’t admit her as a stray, but they reached out to us at Saving Hope. Our intake was closed due to overwhelming vet bills, but we couldn’t turn our backs. We admitted her immediately, and she was hospitalized for round-the-clock care and monitoring. Miraculously, Cherish has now made a full recovery. Her sight returned, her balance improved, and she began exploring her world with confidence. Her foster family, already smitten, decided to adopt her, giving her the forever home she deserves. But this happy ending came with a steep cost: emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, medication, and follow-up care to monitor her recovery. Now, we need your help to cover the cost of her care.
