Seth
Seth is a 2 month old Mix-Breed in Oakland, NJ, who needs $2,000 for was found covered in maggots.

Seth was found on the side of the road, his body being overtaken by maggots. At 6 weeks old and under a pound, Seth was slowly dying when he was discovered on the side of Route 202. He had fly eggs and maggots all over his body. He was in awful pain from the wounds left as they literally ate his flesh – an image we hate to share, but the horrible reality for Seth. Upon rescue and hospitalization, Seth was suffering from an upper respiratory in addition to his wounds. Maggots were found in his urethra, causing inflammation so he could not go to the bathroom. When he urinated, he would experience painful burning on his raw skin. Thankfully, Seth’s wounds have begun to granulate under careful medical attention, but we can’t imagine the agony this tiny baby had to overcome. Seth quickly became a staff favorite at the hospital, his spirit and spunk likely having saved his life – because for him to survive in this condition is truly remarkable. Seth yells for attention when he sees his humans, wanting nothing more than to be cuddled. He was started on hydrotherapy at the veterinary hospital, where he received the devoted care he needed to begin the healing process. We are at the point in kitten season when funds from our medical fund have dwindled, but the desperate calls for help have not. Cat rescues are overflowing, funds are depleted, temperatures are dropping at night and rescuers are exhausted. We need your help! All across our community, there are kittens like Seth, suffering and alone, in need of immediate care. His wounds are still healing, but you can see the spark in his eyes returning. It’s amazing how much joy a bit of care can bring! He’s beginning to play again, swatting at toys and chasing after anything that moves. Each day, he grows stronger and more curious about the world around him. It’s warming to watch him rediscover his playful spirit. * November 7 - Update * Life’s thrown curveballs at little Seth. This little fighter was found in the cold on the side of the road with his body covered in maggots and fly eggs—underneath which, he was way too thin. Flash forward to today and he’s doing MUCH better: He’s been thriving in his foster home and gaining more of his kitten-spunk everyday. His comeback has been nothing short of amazing and though his recovery isn’t over yet, to him, each new day is pretty dang magical. ❤️ Thank you to all continuing to support baby Seth on his road to Forever!

A Second Chance for Conrad: Help This Brave Puppy Heal After Unimaginable Pain

ThisIsHouston Conrad was found on the street in McAllen, TX in grave condition. He was clearly the victim of an attack, mostly likely from other dogs, and suffering from extensive injuries. He was partially scalped and part of his left ear was ripped off. He had multiple open bite wounds on the entire front half of his body. The worst part, though, was three of his legs were broken. The end of the humerus snapped on his right forelimb, he has a fracture on his left forelimb radius, and a fracture on his left hindlimb. Conrad needed help immediately. He initially arrived at the vet in a shock-like condition and needed to be stabilized. He was doing fairly well, but then he began vomiting. His stomach became distended with a lot of gas and food wasn't moving. A volunteer flew him up to Houston from McAllen where he was found. Conrad is now currently resting comfortably at Blue Pearl ER which is a specialty hospital. He had been throwing up small amounts during his trip and Blue Pearl says he’s got ileus - temporary lack of the normal muscle contractions of the intestines. A urinary catheter was placed along with a jugular catheter and a feeding tube. Conrad’s been at the vet since being found, getting his wounds tended to, getting a blood transfusion, and having surgery on 2 of his legs. Currently, he’s stable, vitals are well, and he’s eating well. He’s still regurgitating so his vets are making adjustments with his meds and plan to feed him more frequent meals rather than larger ones. He’s clear from pneumonia as of today but he has a URI brewing so he’s starting meds for that too. Conrad is just 13 weeks old but has already suffered so much. He has an arduous journey ahead, but ThisIsHouston is determined to provide him with every chance at a normal, healthy life, no matter the cost. Update: 10/10/24: Conrad is doing well, he is eating well with no regurgitation, and his feeding tube has been non-productive, so the vet is planning on removing it tomorrow. His nasal discharge has improved a lot and he was brighter today. His urine output is much more appropriate and he has clear urine. His anemia has improved and his PCV (packed cell volume) was 28% this morning. His right elbow is quite swollen at this point post op and may be infected. His right ear base wound has opened up and has a bit of discharge. Still waiting for his culture results, so hopefully once we change his antibiotic, his wounds start healing better. In the meantime, they’re cleaning his ear base wounds and bandaging it. So Conrad is doing better in some areas but still struggling with his wounds and incision. Sweet baby has ways to go, but we know he’ll get there! Update: 10/12/24: An update from Conrad's veterinarian: “Conrad is doing well. He is eating well and has not had any regurgitation. We will be changing his neck bandage today, still waiting on culture results. His right forelimb swelling is better but he doesn't want to use it much. He can stand a little longer than before but still can't get around much. We are removing his back leg splint on Monday so his mobility should improve drastically then. Once he can get around better, we can remove his urinary catheter." Update: 10/15/24: Conrad is standing on all of his legs!! He's still at the specialty hospital continuing to rest comfortably, his vitals remain normal, and he’s still eating great. The veterinary team on his case said Conrad's showing his silly personality more every day. We love to see his puppy side coming out! Thanks to those who have been rooting for him! Update: 10/16/24: Conrad was found with 3 broken limbs. Two required surgery, and the third is expected to heal on its own with kennel rest. That leg (right forelimb) had some swelling, but it has improved. Radiographs showed the right elbow implants are stable. The plan is to let the bones heal and probably remove the implants in 2-3 weeks. The veterinarian is hoping to pull his urinary catheter tomorrow and monitor his urination overnight. Conrad might be able to discharged into foster care on Friday, but he’ll still have lots of recovery and therapy ahead of him. Update: 10/18/24: Conrad was discharged from the ER today!!! He still has a very difficult, long journey ahead but we are so happy for this little guy. However, his hefty ER bill remains and his future care will continue to add to his costs. Any donation is greatly appreciated! Update 11/21/24: Conrad has continued to heal wonderfully, except for his right forelimb. The lameness in that leg continued to worsen; he wasn’t using it much at all, and his elbow began to bleed. That was the leg with tons of infection in the beginning. It was becoming super painful for him, and he had a consult with his surgeon. We could’ve attempted to fix it again but he could’ve possibly needed multiple revisions. Because of his discomfort, we opted for amputation. But no worries, four legs or three legs, he continues to be a warrior. Update 12/4/24: Conrad’s all healed up from his amputation and has been doing so well. Everyone who meets him comments on how well behaved he is, especially for a puppy. We may be biased but he’s pretty perfect!

Two Month Old Linus Needs Help Battling Broken Pelvis and Potential Neurological Issue

At just a few weeks old, Linus found himself being surrendered to the local shelter. He arrived with an extremely large fluid-filled area on his tiny tummy. Due to lack of resources at the shelter, they were unable to properly diagnose him and get him the care he desperately needed. The shelter quickly contacted US Dog Coalition and Rescue, who took him in. Initially, there were a few possibilities- a broken tail or inguinal hernia. They began Linus on antibiotics to address the fluid build up. Although, shortly after arriving to his foster home, his foster noticed that he was dragging his leg and appeared to be uncomfortable. Linus began to cry out in pain at times and was having difficulty using the bathroom. He was quickly taken back to the vet where they discovered Linus has a fractured pelvis, as well as a smaller pelvic canal than normal. The rescue quickly acted and has begun various testing to understand what all Linus is facing. He is being screened for various diseases, has a neurologist consultation pending, and, of course, is being closely monitored. Linus is just nine weeks old. What could have possible happened to warrant such heartbreaking condition? US Dog Coalition is determined to get Linus back on track to live a long healthy life like every puppy deserves. Help Annie Heal Her Mental and Physical Wounds

Annie was found as a stray wandering with her nine puppies. They were all taken to a nearby shelter. Her puppies were quickly rescued or adopted, as cute puppies are, but Annie, on the other hand, was left behind. Thankfully, US Dog Coalition and Rescue stepped in to help. Annie's poor five-year-old body is riddled with trauma, both mentally and physically. She was so shut down by the time she arrived, that she needed to be carried into her foster home. She was set up in a quiet room with windows all to herself, but remained motionless, only moving when she was flinching at movements or noise. She only snuck food or bathroom breaks when nobody was watching her. At her vet appointment to evaluate her physical health, she sadly tested positive for heartworms. She also has a residual wound that she came to the shelter with. It is assumed that it is a bite mark of some kind. Likely one she received defending her 9 puppies as a stray. US Dog Coalition is determined to teach Annie that she deserves a good life, a life she should have had from day one. Thankfully, the good life has started, filled with safety, love, and kindness, but she is having trouble embracing it due to her past traumas. Please consider donating today to help Annie heal.

Lilly Red spent over 12 years of her life being picked on by the larger dogs in her backyard and has the scars to prove it. Her irresponsible owner never did anything to protect her, never let her into the house, and never gave her the care that she needed. When the shelter called and told us that Lilly needed a soft place to land, we opened our sanctuary to her. After almost 2 years of sanctuary life, Lilly Red suddenly started to urinate frequently and was perpetually thirsty. What started out looking like a possible bladder infection has turned into something more mysterious and serious. Lab tests haven't revealed the cause of her discomfort yet and Lilly needs imaging and specialized tests at Madison Vet Hospital to diagnose and treat her illness. Understandably, Lilly Red is fearful of larger dogs, but she loves humans and she loves to be petted and groomed. Her tail wags constantly when her human caretakers are close by. Her sweet eyes melt our hearts and we love her dearly. We are a registered, nonprofit animal rescue that specializes in providing lifetime care to senior and special needs animals. This is my Milo - we call him Memes, he's 7yo. He's been with us since he's 6wks old, and is the youngest funniest, sweetest fur baby of the house (and the biggest). He has an older fur-brother Cooper (9yo), fur-sister Chase (12yo cat). My furbabies mean the world to me & are FAMILY to me. Morning of 11/4, Milo woke up howling in pain, couldn't move & was rushed to emerg vet; pain meds, xrays & hrs later, it was thought to be IVDD; neurologist+MRI was required to confirm. I found ASC hospital in Yonkers, NY & neuro surgeon Dr G who shared news that Milo has an A-typical (abnormal cyst) wrapped around his spinal cord, causing him excruciating pain w/any type of movements. Milo is the sweetest boy, LOVE treats, talks when excited, my protector, always wants to be center of attention & is quite funny. He has been my shadow since he came home w/us 7yrs ago, has seen me through several surgeries, checks on me often, loves to walk, go to parks, swim in doggie pools, go to Target & is the biggest cuddle bug. He is my 3yo toddler boy I never had. Milo is now constantly riddled in horrendous pain. I sit on the floor w/him & cry most days. He has to now be carried most times & only resolve is major spinal surgery - upwards of 10k. It's just ME & I've already spent thousands of dollars, depleting 98% of my savings.

I have had Judah from a puppy. She is a loving sweet dog and completes our family. She is my shoulder to cry on when I have a bad day and she sleeps in bed with me at night. Judah escaped from the yard and was unfortunately hit by a car. Luckily she lived through this terrifying experience but was left with a large wound on her leg. She is so playful and loves to play ball, chew her toys and go on walks. Her favorite time of day is meal time and any time she can have a treat from her treat jar. We have been just getting by financially like so many other families and when an emergency happens it can totally wipe you out. Just going to the ER for pain meds and antibiotics took up all the extra money and she still needed her leg sutured.

Hello y'all, I adopted Flo almost 11 years ago from the Humane Society in Pinellas. I was living alone in an apartment and thought having a buddy would be perfect, and she's been perfect ever since. She's been with me through thick and thin, even while I was in the Army and away. Every time I came home she was there and happy to see me. Now it's just me, her, and the cats. Flo is 12 and hasn't had too many issues with health. An ear infection here and there, but nothing like this. She's currently got a Mast Cell Tumor on her front left paw, confirmed by our primary vet. However, care is going to be transferred to Apollo Beach Animal Hospital for imaging and future treatment. Flo has been a source of support for not just me, but others in my family. I remember leaving her with my stepmom for a weekend and she was ready to protect her, day one, from a perceived intruder (my dad). Long story lol. She loves babies and is so patient with everyone around her. Even now as I'm typing this, she's laying right behind my chair instead of on the comfy dog bed not even a foot away I'm a veteran with PTSD, and my only source of income is through the VA. I've had Flo for so long and she's been the best treatment for my PTSD other than conventional treatment. Myself and my family would be DEVASTATED if anything happened to this angel.
