Spirit

Spirit is a 4 year old Papillon in Bellingham, WA, who needs $2,321 for Entyce Oral Sus, Science Diet, Panacur, Fortiflora.

Bellingham, WA

I named him Spirit because his name had to match the sheer resilience of his soul that can't be broken. Even in a quiet house or during tough seasons, he represents life, breath, energy, and hope. He is a daily reminder that the beautiful things in life, like love and connection-are the things that carry us through. He keeps us both moving forward. Spirit constantly battles severe food allergies, Gardia flair-ups, and chronic yeast infections. Managing his health is a constant, daily uphill battle that requires specialized care. Yet, He handles it all with pure joy. He is a fighter, and we need help giving his body the relief his beautiful spirit deserves. I take him to Dr. Sullivan @ Bellingham Veterinary here in Whatcom County. Spirit brings pure joy by "talking" to me; he used his own special language of chuffs and murmurs to converse right from the soul. He trusts me. When he's frightened by the trash man or a big rig passing us on our walks he clings to me like I'm always his safe harbor. Despite his medical battles, his vocal affection and deep loyalty are the beautiful gifts that keep our hearts locked together. Wiped out by the sudden loss of my son, Lucas, my fixed income couldn't cover Spirits care. Bellingham Vet has been a godsend, helping me treat him without money even when he needed to go back in. But I have no other emergency funds. Please help me protect beautiful Spirit

Ramsey is Eight months old he came with a broken elbow/leg unknown to us he came with trauma and not only the physical kind.Shame to the breeder who abused him Ramsey then left him in pain for weeks with no vet help! We are so glad he is part of our family now. We get to love him and give him the life that he deserves.Full of love &trust with a loving hooman Mom Dad Sister & fur Brother! 3 days after we bought Ramsey home, he had a major surgery to correct the broken elbow/leg that he had came to us with. Ramsey is the sweetest loving dog i have ever met. I rescued him from his abuse brought him to a family that shows him true kindness and love. Bandit

Bandit is a 3 year old American Shorthair in Bellingham, WA, who needs $2,000 for Emergency Vet Visi.

Bellingham, WA

My (now ex) husband and I adopted Bandit and his sister Smokey in 2022 from SPOT animal rescue. They had been found in a junkyard as kittens. It took months to gain their trust, especially Bandit's, but now I go to sleep and wake up with a lap full of purring kitties. They are my solace after being blindsided by a divorce that left me with two pets, no partner and zero income. This is an emergency. Bandit needs the emergency vet ASAP. I noticed this morning he hadn't spent the night curled on my legs, like normal. I looked and looked, and eventually found him hiding under the bed. He is refusing food, water, treats, toys, snuggles/pets/attention. He's not grooming himself. He's dehydrated, lethargic, only wants to hide, and looks like he's in a lot of pain. Bandit is special to me because I'm the only person in the whole world he trusts. I spent years gaining that trust, and I really treasure it, and him. He never learned to meow like an adult, so his voice comes out high-pitched and squeaky, like a kitten. He knows his nickname (little mister) and will come to me for kisses when I ask him if he wants 'kisses for Bandit?' The pressing financial need is divorce. I love my kitties. But I wouldn't have adopted them if I'd known I would be abandoned with two pets and zero support. I am disabled and extremely low income, and I lost at least 85% of our combined income in the divorce.

Abby

Abby is a 9 year old German Shepherd Dog in Blaine, WA, who needs $2,000 for Nasal Fungal Treatment.

Blaine, WA

Abby was a rescue from California. She was 8 years old when I adopted her and I was 74. I already owe $2100 for her care treating her for a bowel obstruction of grass and a fungal infection in her nose that didn't cure her. So now she has to have a fungal medication in her sinus cavity for 20 minutes costing $1,500 at Bellingham Veterinary and my Social Security doesn't stretch that far. Her nose did not respond to the oral meds in Bellingham Veterinary said that sedating her to put the medication in her sinus cavity should do the trick. Abby does get along with my three and a half pound toothless Chihuahua but doesn't like other dogs and it's hard to handle when another dog is around. I want to get a trainer if I ever get out of debt but her poor nose needs help with that nasty green discharge. She's very lovable and I hate to see her suffer. I plan on doing doordash when I'm physically able and not in pain from my bilateral sciatica. The girls go with me when I do this and that's how I plan to pay off the $2,100. But I need help with the $1,500.

Paxton

Paxton is a 7 year old American Akita in Bellingham, WA, who needs $1,000 for Hematoma, Step-Cains Surgery, and Medication.

BELLINGHAM, WA

I first met Paxton while down in TX for a year. I had talked to friends and family about getting a dog after 20 years since my last one passed. I was inspired of the story of Hachiko and wanted that bond again and in August 2017, I met Paxton for the first time as a puppy and fell in love with him and raised him myself. Paxton was a relatively healthy puppy, but after 5 years, some small health scares but nothing too serious. At age 6 he got a hematoma in his right ear. And now almost a week from his birthday..he has been acting lethargic, refusing to play and eat.. preferring to sleep and take constant breaks during our walks. And he goes to NW Veterinary Blood Bank & Hospital I love my good boy, we lived going on the local trails and taking hikes or just cuddle up on those rainy days! He is my rock and helps comfort me when my depression hits me hard. Winter is his favorite time of the year! Doesn't matter if it's just a frost or 3 feet if snow, he's in it for the whole day if he can! Work has been on such a snails pace, sales have been in decline for two years with no signs of picking up anytime soon. I've also had to do sudden repairs on my car that has set me back + plus I'm still paying off his hematoma surgery. I've been stretched so thin, I'm at a loss

Sushi

Sushi is a 2 year old Pomeranian in Bellingham , WA, who needs $2,000 for Wound Care, Pin and Plate Reconstruction.

Bellingham, WA

My daughter found Sushi on a 6 lane freeway in Arizona. She was dumped by someone and I can't imagine the fear she must have felt. We were looking for another dog when my daughter called us and told us she found the perfect dog for us. It took awhile for her to warm up to us and trust us but once she did we have been inseparable ever since She experienced a terrifying and tragic accident. Just four days ago, she jumped out of her basket while we were on a bike ride, and her front paw got caught in the gear chamber of our electric bike. This caused a severe injury that nearly severed her paw..For the next 14 days, we need to bring Sushi in daily for two-hour wound care sessions and then proceed to surgery with Bellingham Veterinary Sushi melts anyone heart that meet her, she's so funny and spunky and above all after all she has endured in her life she's loving. Her favorite think is to go for bike rides, car rides, get ice cream and loves to give kisses to friends she meets on our daily walks. Walking and running is what's she loves and if she loses her leg those days will be over We have never been financially grand we leave in our means and recently after our children moved out decided to go on the road and start a travel photography business. Thinking everything would be fine we sunk all our money into not leaving us with an emergency fund

Photo of Mandi

Mandi

Mandi is a 6-year-old Boxer/American Bull in Blaine, WA, who needs $2,000 for Cruciate Repair(ACL Repair).

Blaine, WA

Mandi was a rescue. She was abandoned after a divorce and we fell in love with her smile. She has been in our family since she was 10 months old. She is now 6 years old. She evacuated a hurricane with us just days after we rescued her. We moved from Florida to Washington a couple years after we got her. Being a lover of road trips-that was a blast for her! Mandi is incredibly high energy. She will endlessly fetch a ball or bone and bring it back to you. She will nudge it with her nose to hit your foot insisting you kick it again. Mandi is a brick, no grace, all zooms and for sure thinks she is a lap dog. Our cats(2) have her under their paw, although they sneak in their cuddle sessions when no one is around to see. Ball is life. But, only the ball she wants at that very moment. She will literately dig through a couch to get to a ball she seemingly rolled under there on purpose. You can not simply give her a different ball. Much like a toddler that drops a spoon repeatedly. When she is extra excited she runs laps around our house. We call it her horse track. Mandi is being cared for by Bellingham Veterinary. While chasing a bone that inevitably went under the couch, she let out a YELP. She instantly stopped using her rear left leg. We watched over the next 36 hours, hoping that maybe she had just pulled a muscle. She continued to not use that leg. With a weekend trip to the vet we learned she tore her ACL. Surgery is the recommendation. This is a very costly surgery($4-5K was the initial estimate) As small business owners of an auto repair shop, this time of year is tight on everyone. People tend to push off their car repairs until after the holidays or even until tax return season.

Winston

Winston is a 9-year-old English Golden Retriever in Fort Walton Beacg, FL, who needs $2,000 for Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant.

Fort Walton Beacg, FL

Winston is a 9 year old English Golden Retriever who lives at home with his full sister Rhea (10). He has enjoyed becoming a 'big bro' to human siblings Jack and Maya, mostly due to the unending snacks they drop on the floor. Winston is the life of the party. He is always up for a good time and enjoys swimming, digging, playing with the neighbor dogs, getting good pets, and lap cuddles. Wisnton has always been a big personality. He has never met a stranger, blows bubbles in his water dish when he's feeling bored, and isn't afraid to do a little counter surfing. Winston was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma in February 2023. After a round of chemotherapy, he went into remission, however his immune system didn't bounce back as expected and we had to put future chemo on hold while he recovered. Winston needs a bone marrow stem cell transplantation (BMT), and his sister Rhea is a allogenic match for the procedure. This is a costly procedure to pay for out of pocket, and with all the treatment already done we are feeling the strain financially. Any amount of assistance is a blessing to us, because we will do anything to get our Winston boy healthy again.

Andy

Andy is a 7-year-old Golden Retriever in Baton Rouge, LA, who needs $2,000 for Bone Marrow Transplant.

Baton Rouge, LA

Andy was the last of his litter. We had one of his brothers and loved him. But Andy’s picture touched our hearts. He was sitting by a tree, alone, and he looked so sad. He has been nothing but joy since then. He is the sweetest dog we’ve ever had, even by golden retriever standards. He is a hugger. He sits on his back legs and wraps his front paws around you. Andy is living sunshine. He and his brother Finn play every day. He has helped our rescue, Angel, become more normal and happy. She came from an abusive situation. We have come to rely on his smile and sunny personality. My wife has lupus and has been very ill for 20 years. But she says as long as Andy, Finn and Angel are well, she knows everything will be ok. Andy has never met a stranger. Everyone who meets him loves him. I always say he can absorb all the love a person has to give snd give twice as much back. He likes to sit on the back of the couch to chew his toys. His favorites are a rooster and lamb chop. When he is excited he spins in circles and jumps alongside you, punching you with his nose. Andy hasT cell lymphoma. The only cure is a bone marrow transplant. We found the only place in the US that does this. At least six insurance companies cover the procedure. Our insurer refuses to and says BMT is experimental. The cost for BMT is $40,000-plus. We’ve appealed the decision and filed a complaint with our state Insurance Department. This delay is killing Andy. We’ve already spent thousands of dollars on Andy’s chemo and treatments to get him ready for BMT and to get him to Bellingham. We have no way to cover the cost of the treatment. We need help pressuring the insurance company to do the right thing. It would mean the world to us to save Andy.

Zoe Khan

Zoe Khan is a 14-year-old Yellow Labrador in Fife, WA, who needs $1,500 for radiation therapy.

Fife, WA

Have you ever had a dog you loved so much you felt like they became an extension of yourself? That's how Zoe is to Obaid K. "Zoe came into my life in March of 2008," Obaid tells Waggle. "She was the cutest little 12-week old puppy. I remember people calling her the Charmin dog because she was so round and cute. We lived in Texas and moved around the country. This princess of mine was my co-life partner. Zoe is my first dog! I have two other dogs, but Zoe has my heart and soul. The bond I have with her honestly is indescribable. It's so strong!" And if you ask any yellow Labrador owner, they will likely tell you the breed is spunky and full of life. That's how Zoe has been despite facing many health battles, including a recent cancer diagnosis. "Zoe is such a fighter," Obaid says. "She has a mass in her right rib cage. Her oncologist recommended radiation therapy and, or mass removal. I don't know if I want to put Zoe through such an invasive surgery, but I'd like to do radiation at least. I'm trying to raise money for that. I don't know how much time she has left, but I want to do all I can to help Zoe." If you give to Zoe's campaign, Obaid wants you to know that she appreciates it more than you will ever know. "To have extra time with Zoe is priceless," Obaid says. "If I can give her a few extra months or even years, that will mean more to me than anything. She has truly taught me what true love is, patience, and, most importantly, how beautiful life is. She is the air I breathe. I know we all have to go one day. But I want to do all I can to have her stick around with me a little longer."

Photo of Ziggy

Ziggy

Ziggy is a 15-year-old Portuguese Water Dog in Ferndale, WA, who needs $2,000 for Aspergillosis (rare fungus).

Ferndale, WA

Ziggy was a God send. My previous dog Shawnsee, was hit by car. I was heartbroken. Less then a week later we found Ziggy. A friend found three dogs tied to a fence in the middle of nowhere (out on a walk). He asked us if, we wanted a dog. And.... the dog started crawling towards me. We've had him over 14 years now. He is my wonderful little buddy, and would do anything for him.💛🧡💚 A little muzzle to get me out of bed? Or to let him out, or is he just saying let's go play? Ziggy sleeps hard and plays hard. If I say to him let's go to the park! He will sit and wait for his harness and be excited and ready for the door to open. He is my drive to exercise. I've probably been to the dog park over 1000 times with him. Only because him, now I've lost over 40 pounds. We got an above ground pool and Ziggy being a Portuguese Water Dog loves the water. When we fill that pool he think it's all for him. He is a learner and so brave. He run in circle and then will jump in the pool to recover his toys. There is no swimming without Ziggy being right in the pool with us. If I ever have to go somewhere, my dog wants to go with, 90 percent of the time, he goes too. It's been almost two months since Ziggy started sneezing again, he has always had problems with the right nostril. Well this year, noticed a yellow pus coming out. Previous vet said allergies. Two weeks later we had to bring to the emergency clinic for bleeding. More antibiotics. New vet, took him in after recommended by ER. Now, with a CT scan from Bellingham Veterinary in Bellingham, WA, they found a fungus. Ever since COVID hit, I've been out of work. I'm unemployed and I am now on food stamps. I though I would have a job by now, but just finally will return to work in November. My extra funds are gone. Three vet bills in a month did me in. I have no money to pay the rest.

Colonel Beauregard — a7e500

Seattle, WA

We've been together his entire 9 years, after stumbling into each other's lives when he was only 5.5 weeks old. I rescued him after a plea was made on Craigslist from a farmer's wife whose husband was planning to drown him and his siblings in the river. He sat on my feet, and I scooped him and took him from that terrible place. His name comes from a book I was reading in college. Beauregard sleeps in the sunshine by the glass sliding doors during the day, and cuddles with me in bed at night (he's always little spoon). His favorite thing to do is hike the Washington mountains with me, and dare I bring a ball, he can fit 3 in his mouth! He's an extremely vocal boy, always telling me how he's feeling - he loves to sing! I lost my job due to Covid in December 2020, and am now trying to survive on unemployment benefits which is not much. Financial assistance would greatly help us as I cannot come up with the funds on my own. Beauregard went in for an ACL surgery on March 10th, and during pre-op examination the surgeon found an osteosarcoma in his front right wrist. The ELIAS immunotherapy procedure we have decided to go with will greatly prolong his life and give him a better quality of life. Beau has an aggressive cancer, so we must move quickly. "I want to keep you from pain, I want to cure you, I want to save you", I whispered to my precious boy. With his head gently on my knee, he looked up at me as if to say "I know, mom". Beauregard is a dog even more special & unique than his name. Everyone he meets falls in love with is soft demeanor and goofy smile. He is my protector, and now it is my turn to protect him.
