Cocoa
Cocoa is a 11 year old Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever in Orland Park, IL, who needs $7,000 for Anal Sacculectomy.
Orland Park, IL
I adopted Cocoa from a humane society in Tampa, Florida, three years ago when she was 9 years old. She had been their longest resident after multiple shelter stays and came with severe allergies, chronic ear infections, and a past leg injury. Despite her difficult start, she is incredibly loving. As a 24-year-old teacher living on my own, Cocoa has been my constant companion through adulthood. Cocoa was recently diagnosed with Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma (AGASACA), a cancer of the anal sac glands. Thankfully, testing showed it had not spread, and she underwent surgery at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital in Illinois to remove the tumor. She is awaiting results to determine if radiation is needed and will require ongoing monitoring. Hearing "cancer" was devastating, but I am grateful we caught it e Cocoa loves everyone, people, children, and other animals. She has made friends through doggy daycare and the children I babysit. She is a lovable weirdo with no spatial awareness who thinks she is a lap dog. Her favorite things are belly rubs, car rides, and being close to her people. She has been my best friend and source of comfort through every stage of my adult life. As a third-year teacher living on my own, Cocoa's cancer diagnosis and surgery costs were completely unexpected. With a move back to Florida and graduate school ahead, any support will help me focus on her recovery instead of overwhelming medical bills.

Kato
Kato is a 5 year old Yorkshire Terrier in Joliet , IL, who needs $8,000 for Stent Placed in His Neck.
Joliet, IL
When Kato was a couple of years old, he started making honking sounds and I took him to the Veterinarian (Chicago Humane Society) where they told me he had a collapsed trachea. They gave him medication but over the last few years it has gotten worse. Kato needs to have a stent placed in his throat to cure this. 6000-8000 covers the hospitalization and the surgery. Kato has a collapsed trachea, and it has progressed. I called Chicago Humane Society and they told me that the surgery for collapsed trachea will be about 6000-8000 dollars. I also had x-rays done at veterinarian in Ohio. I can tell Kato is becoming uncomfortable and it flairs up at night. The Veterinarian told me not to let him overexert himself and to continue medications. I ended up going to the hospital 2 years ago and the doctors would not let me go home alone because I had lost so much weight and I was falling. I had my son bring me Kato, my dog, to be home with me. Kato encouraged me to get up and walk and take him to the bathroom. If not for Kato, I do not think I would have tried to get up. Kato is the reason my strength has returned and I can walk. I am on a fixed income, which is disability, I cannot afford to get Kato this operation. Kato is my baby, and he is worth every penny. I am afraid Kato will not make it if I do not come up with the money for the surgery. Kato deserves a life where he can breathe normally

Shiro
Shiro is a 4.5 month old Mix-Breed in Bartlett, IL, who needs $8,977 for Femur Distal Epiphyseal Fracture Surgery.
Bartlett, IL
Shiro came into our lives about 2–4 months ago when we chose him and brought him home. From the very first day, he has been pure joy — a fluffy, golden bundle of energy who filled our home with warmth and laughter. We chose the name Shiro, meaning “white” in Japanese, because of his beautiful coat. He is still so young, just 4 months old, and has barely had the chance to grow into the world. Shiro suffered a serious fracture of the femur bone in his back left leg, along with damage to the growth plate. Because he is still a puppy, the growth plate injury is especially critical — if left untreated, it can cause permanent deformity and lifelong pain. Our veterinarian has made it clear that surgery is not optional, it is the only path to giving Shiro a normal life. Total cost is $8977 Shiro is the kind of puppy who makes you smile the moment you look at him. Fluffy, curious, and full of love, he follows us from room to room and melts into our arms for cuddles. In just a few months, he has become an irreplaceable part of our family and our daily routine. He is playful, gentle, and trusting — he has no idea why he is hurting, and that breaks our hearts. He deserves a happy life. One of us recently lost our job, and since we just got him, we have no emergency savings, and never expected a $8977 surgery bill this soon. We’ve exhausted every option. Having Shiro healthy again means our family is whole — we can’t bear to let him down.

Nemo
Nemo is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Elmhurst, IL, who needs $17,758 for Hemilaminectomy.
Elmhurst, IL
Nemo is the sweetest, most energetic, funniest pup that you would ever meet. He is currently 5 yrs old and absolutely loves to go on walks in the neighborhood and in the dog park. He lives with me, his baby pup brother Bruno, and my fiancé Christopher in the Oakbrook area. We love him so much and refuse to give up!Right now he really needs your help to regain his mobility back in his hine legs. My baby boy Nemo was seen at the VCA Animal Hospital in Aurora, IL and VEG in Oakbrook, IL. There, he was diagnosed with IVDD-Intervertebral Disc Disease — with sudden paralysis. He was jumping and playing just fine 2 nights before then, but declined rapidly after leaving the hospital. We can’t afford his medication or his spine surgery right now which is ranging from $15,000-$17,500. He loves meeting new people and new dogs. He loves to cuddle and to snack on his favorite bully sticks. I lost my job back in October and fell so far behind on home and car expenses. I am just now restarting a new job and trying to catch up on expenses. It is has been so hard and stressful. We just simply do not have the money for his surgery.

Chewy
Chewy is a 2 Year Old Shih Tzu in Crest Hill, IL, Who Needs $2,000 for MRI of the Brain.
Crest Hill, IL
Please Help Chewy Get the Care He Needs 🐾💙 My sweet 2-year-old Shih Tzu, Chewy, has been diagnosed with a seizure disorder and needs an MRI to help his veterinarian determine the best treatment plan. Watching my baby go through these episodes breaks my heart, and I'm doing everything I can to get him the help he deserves. Chewy is so young and has his whole life ahead of him. The MRI costs are more than I can handle on my own right now, so I'm reaching out to my community for help. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. Chewy has brought so much joy and love into my families life, and I just want to give him the chance to feel better and live a full, happy life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support you can offer. Due to my disability, I am currently on a very limited income and am struggling to keep up with basic living expenses, which has left me unable to afford the necessary veterinary care for my dog, Chewy. Chewy is an important part of my emotional support and daily life.

Cooper
Cooper is a 1 Year Old Mix-Breed in Minooka, IL, Who Needs $2,000 for Hospitalization and Extensive Work Up of Condition.
Minooka, IL
Cooper had a rough start at life- found wandering the streets of Arkansas surviving on pea gravel. He was a shy, scared dog that had a traumatic past. We adopted him a year ago and he has thrived - he has grown to trust us and loves his fur sister. We chose him and after escaping the yard and coming back, he chose us as a his family About a month ago, he developed lethargy, fevers, high WBC count, and anorexia. Multiple tests were done and all negative. About a week ago, he developed painful, draining wounds on his front paws. He ended up admitted at the emergency vet hospital and has been there for 4 days. The wounds on his paws are extensive and he may have to have a toe or two amputated due to vasculitis. Cooper is a special dog. He started out shy and scared and has came out of his shell. He has learned to trust humans again after a traumatic past. He definitely loves his mom and often would sit next to her on the couch- his favorite place to be. In the last year, he has learned what it means to have a family This was a sudden, very expensive medical event and at a year old, I had not considered pet insurance. In addition to our fur kids, we have human kids we support. We did not want to put a young dog down when he has a treatable disease and can stilllive a long healthy life

Winston
Winston is a 8 Month Old Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Montgomery , IL, Who Needs $2,000 for Orthopedic.
Montgomery, IL
My partner and I share the beautiful month of May, we’re 1 year and 4 days apart. So we decided to add a furry friend to our family in the middle of those days. May 20th 2025 we get our little boy Winston when he was only 2 months old. He’s just what we needed for our family. With our 6 year old little girl who’s full of energy Winston fit right in! Winston is 8 months old now and is very healthy and a loving boy! Unfortunately November 5th he fell off my partner and I’s bed and fractured his growth plate near his hips. Our energetic playful puppy stopped walking and without surgery we’ll never get that back. Our little boy Winston was always greeting us the second we got home. He loved our quick walks in the morning. In just the short 6 months of having him he’s learned so much! We understand times are hard for everyone now, and no one prepares for an unfortunate unexpected situation so fast. My partner and I are working off a fixed income and don’t the means to pay for him surgery to get our little puppy back.

Missy
Missy is a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier in New lenox, IL, who needs $2,000 for CHOP Chemotherapy.
New lenox, IL
I adopted Missy in July 2022 from NAWS Mokena while struggling with depression. Named after Missy Elliott, she lived with me in my apartment until I lost my job in 2023. We now live with my parents, where she’s adjusted well and continues to bring me comfort and joy. Missy has stage 3 lymphoma with a good prognosis. She needs CHOP chemotherapy over 16 weeks, which she’ll receive at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital. She saved me during a dark time, and now I’m doing everything I can to save her. Missy is probably one of the only Jack Russells on earth to nap as much as she does. She has been my perfect companion! We both enjoy curling up on the couch and watching movies together. She loves her nana and pop pop and I can always count on them to give her the same love that I give her. Missy has really been everything to me I love her little brown eyes and loud bark! I have limited income. Even with my job, I can only afford so much during this time. Since the treatments will be around $500-$1,000+ per treatment (over 16 weeks) I am not sure how I can keep up with both regular expenses and her medical bills.

Mater
Mater is a 10 year old Yorkshire Terrier in Joliet, IL, who needs $2,000 for Emergency Treatment.
Joliet, IL
Mater came to us after we lost our beloved Brooks of 17 years. My son decided on his name after Tow Mater from Disney’s Cars. Mater is a big part of our family and enriches all of our lives with his playfulness and love for us. Mater has been diagnosed with Addison’s Disease, a fatal disease if not treated. We were forced with the decision of treating his care at the ER or losing him. Of course, we decided to treat him which required hospitalization to stabilize him. We had to pay the entire bill, per the hospital’s policy, so we placed the total on our care credit credit card. Our Mater is at the heart of our family. He provides emotional support to us all with his unconditional love and loyalty. Just recently, my husband had quadruple bypass surgery. Mater never left his side while he was home for 6 weeks recovering and never took an eye off my husband’s every movement. I am a teacher and my husband works retail. We are not certain how we will pay the hospital bill. I already work a second part time job as an ACT/SAT tutor.

Nero
Nero is a 4 year old Snowshoe in Aurora, IL, who needs $2,000 for perineal urethrostomy (PU).
Aurora, IL
Nero came into our lives a couple years ago as a rescue. He has always been my mother’s little shadow and he’s a perfect cat companion. From his mellow temper to his love being as big as his appetite. He started off declining on Friday 12/20/24 I noticed a big change in his demeanor by him starting to hide and started throwing up we took him to the Emergency services offered by VCA Aurora where they further analyzed that he was indeed blocked and we decided to proceed doing a urinary catheter. On Monday 12/23/24 they removed catheter but he is still straining so a PU surgery is needed. Nero has a special place in our hearts because he is our family cat and is always around us at all times. From being our guard cat and always greeting us at the door to having dinner with us and joining us in harmony. This is clearly a major unexpected expense and we weren’t financially ready for this we cannot afford to pay surgery in full to make it happen. With holidays coming up there are on call charges which increased his medical bid. Aside from his unblocking bill.

Smokey
Smokey is a 9 year old Mix-Breed in Plainfield, IL, who needs $2,000 for Cholecystotomy.
Plainfield, IL
We adopted Smokey 9 years from a local shelter. When we walked in he jumped up in his cage when he seen me like he had known me forever and was waiting for me. We took him in the play area to make sure he was good with the kids and boy he was energetic and mischievous, my husband was hesitant. We played with a few other dogs but everytime I walked back in the kennel he jumped up like he needed me. Smokey has been very healthy other than needing a mast cell tumor removed from his leg in 2022. On Nov 20th as he was acting odd and I had a feeling something was wrong so I took him to the vet. We got his labs back on the 21st and he had extremely high liver enzymes. We took him to the VCA ER for an ultrasound. They discovered his gallbladder was about to burst and he needed emergency surgery. Smokey is easy going and loving. I inherited my Grandmas dog and he welcomed him as his best bud. He has 2 human siblings he loves playing with. He loves being outside, playing dress up, and attends every tea party he is invited to. He knows the sound of his Daddys truck & runs to greet him. He's my little shadow and at times my therapist. He's not a man of many words but his love speaks volumes. When they called and said he needed surgery I never expected the price that was on the estimate they sent me. I burst into tears. I told my baby that they were going to make him feel better and Mommy would be back for him. This is such a large bill at his favorite season.

Kira
Kira is a 12-year-old Mix in Montgomery, IL, who needs $2,000 for Emergency Wound Care.
Montgomery, IL
I saw beautiful Kira on Petfinder. I fell in love with her gentle eyes and ginormous ears. This lovely lady is a special needs pup - she is deaf. Those ears are ornamental. That doesn't stop us from talking to her all day long. Kira has been my sidekick from the moment she came home. She lives with me, my husband, and our daughter. We also have other pets and she gets along perfectly with everyone. I am an ultrarunner and Kira LOVES to run. She is the perfect running partner. In the last few years she hasn't been able to get out there as much due to her age. Kira is the sweetest pup in the world. Yes I'm aware everyone says that - but she truly is. She has a huge personality - making herself as cute as possible for treats. She doesn't know she is deaf and navigates the world perfectly. Unfortunately, on Valentines Day, Kira was brutally attacked by dogs that we were petsitting for a friend. She is currently in the ER receiving care. She has multiple wounds - many on her neck. The doctors are worried about her trachea having a tear in it. She will be seen by the surgeons today. Despite her wounds, she was wagging her tag at the hospital. Obviously, this is an unexpected expense for me. The initial estimate was over $4000. That is before the surgery consult, possible surgery, and follow up care. Kira is my world and she didn't deserve this. Any help towards her care will be appreciated more than you know.

Calee Jean
Calee Jean is a 4-year-old Pitbull Mix in Westchester, IL, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy - Doxirubicin Given Through IV.
Westchester, IL
Calee is an absolute gem. I rescued her in 2020 from One Tail at Time. She came into our home & instantly bonded with her brother, Kent, & later, her sister Mack. She has some fears, because of her previous life but has been shown nothing but love. She loves belly rubs, playing with her brother & sister, getting her makeup done, whipped cream, her backyard, her mama, grammi & dad. She adores her brother Kent. She wakes him up every morning with kisses and jumps, and his grumpy self tolerates it because it’s her. She’s cuddly when she wants to be and will do anything for a treaty or whipped cream. She also loves helping her mama bake. She loves getting her makeup done! Every morning she follows me in the bathroom and waits patiently to her makeup done! She also loves to sit and watch me bake- and also get some taste tests to make sure it’s good enough. Calee was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in July 23. I decided to go with stereotactic radiation, bc the tumor was in her spine/L2 vertebrae. She got through it like a champ, & at her most recent appt., they found Mets on her lung & a bump on her leg. I have decided to do chemotherapy for her, because being only 4, she’s reacted well to other treatments & after a couple rounds she’s doing wonderful. I currently am drowning a bit, but she’s worth it & reacting so well. I am contemplating taking on a third job, but also don’t want to lose any time I have left with her. She’s helped me through so much & whatever I can do to give her a good life, I will

Lucian
Lucian is a 5-year-old Dogue De Bordeaux in Aurora, IL, who needs $2,000 for Testing and Radiation of Tumor.
Aurora, IL
We adopted Lucian from the animal shelter 4 years ago after his owner had a stroke and couldn't care for him anymore. I was a little hesitant adopting a dog his size but when we met him at the shelter he immediately came up to me and put his big snobbery head in my lap and I fell in love with him. He has been a wonderful companion to my family and our other adopted dog Callie. Lucian is a big cuddle bug. He loves petting, snuggling and any attention you give him. He will stop in front of you and sit on your feet until you pet him. He is a great big brother to our other dog Callie. He sits on the couch with my granddaughters and watches tv with them. He is always loving His favorite person is my son Bill. Bill had some serious health issues and lucian was by his side helping him through it. He loves to play but especially loves treats and belly rubs. He always seems to know when your down, he will put his head on your lap or shoulder to reassure you all will be ok.❤️ Lucian was recently diagnosed with a tumor in his nose. It hasn't spread and they need to do radiation to control the growth. He has been and is otherwise perfect health. He is being treated here in Aurora Il. We do have more test to run first, chest x ray and ct scan which will cost approximately $ 1500. Anything will be gratefully accepted. We love him with all our heart. We are already $6000 into this. I am a single mom and work full time. I have maxed out my care credit card on this. Lucian is such a gentle soul. He makes us feel safe just by his size but he brings such happiness to us, always a slobbering happy greet at the door,

Papi
Papi is a 3-year-old Chihuahua in Rockford, IL, who needs $1,900 for IVDD.
Rockford, IL
Hi my name is Christin. Papi came into me and my son's life as a gift after our chihuahua of 16 years passed away. Papi is only 3 years old and he is such a lover ro everyone (I know a rare find lol). He is the love of our lives. He has a sibling who was rescued from our local shelter, his name is Teddy. They are best friends! Papi is my son's best friend. After our Moriah passed away he was so devastated. These three are like the 3 musketeers! They cuddle together, sleep together, and are pretty much unseperable. He loves his family and loved to be able to go on walks and shake his honey on command. Not to mention his cute snaggle tooth! He is such a wonderful loving furbaby. Papi loves his sqeeky toys and milk bones. He is absolutely in love with crinkly toys too! When you go up to give him kisses he reciprocates with his kisses right back! We cannot imagine a day without him! We just hope that he can go back to the Papi we have grown to love over the last 3 years. Without him our hearts won't be full. Papi is in need of surgery ASAP. Sunday we noticed that he was limping just a little then, 5 hours later he could not move his back legs at all. This was something that came on so quick. We rushed to our ER vet and found d out that he slipped a disk. We are having surgery this Wednesday at the latest. He is being treated in Aurora IL by the neurologist there. I am a single mom and this was not an expected as it is now an emergency surgery. The surgery in itself is 9,700. I i have some of the money but, cannot afford the entire surgery on my own.

Opel
Opel is a 4-year-old Long Hair Domestic in DeKalb, IL, who needs $500 for Aggressive Fluid Therapy.
DeKalb, IL
Opel currently lives near in DeKalb where her parents going to college. Opel lives in an apartment and lives with another cat named Iris. Opel can come across as shy at first, but once her true personality comes out, she is playful, sassy and runs the house. We got Opel when she was a kitten at an animal shelter and have had her since! Opel is an extremely kind and loving cat. She loves attention on her, and she loves to reciprocate that love and attention through giving you head buds and climbing on you. Opel enjoys playing with her "sister," Iris, and they have been together since they were brought home. Opel has never showed any type of aggression, as she's grown up in a loving home. Opel has made a huge impact in the lives of many people. Opel loves to remind us when it's time for breakfast, as well as her mid day snacks, as she can be vocal in that regard. When we have had to spray her with water, she will make a B line straight for you and give you head buds/makes biscuits, almost saying "your not really thattt mad at me." Unfortunately, my boyfriend decided to surprise me with Lily flowers. Although I knew there were certain plants that are toxic for animals, it was under both parents assumption that the Lily's were safe. Opel has a tendency to want to explore anything and everything, compared to Iris, Opel ate this toxic plant. We had to rush her to get care as her kidneys were on the verge of failure. Dom and Brigette, the parents of Opel are students. Brigette is a full time student and works part time, and Dom is also just about to finish up school, working full time when his job allows. We save, and have been able to cover some of these expenses, but not all.

Bolingbrook, IL

She is respectful of your presence and she appreciates everyone that is around her regardless of the environment! I lost my job due to my stroke and lasting medical issues. I am currently on disability. I hope to get better one day and continue to see medical treatment. Leeloo has been a God send and I can't imagine her not in my life. She has helped me through so much! Earlier this year, we noticed the left side of Leeloo’s mouth was swollen. Upon inspection, we saw a growth or blister on her gum line. She was then diagnosed with mast cell tumor (cancer). Her vet is VCA Animal Hospital in Aurora, IL. and she is being treated by Dr. Rippy and Dr. Sowders and all of their wonderful staff! Ten years ago, at the age of 31, I suffered a stroke. Since then and because of other medical issues, I’ve been struggling emotionally and financially. My Leeloo was love at first sight. When I saw her, I knew she would immediately become part of our family. She has helped me through depression, emotional anxiety and everything in between.

Alizae
Alizae is a 9-year-old Pitbull in La Salle, IL, who needs $2,000 for Radiation .
La Salle, IL
I have had Alizae since he was six weeks old he is nine years old now. He is the first dog I have gotten for my children and has been an excellent companion. Currently things have been hard due to being out of work due to covid and medical conditions of my own. It's been a tough position and I am not one that would want to reach out for help but he is a member of our family and important to us. Alizae is the most loving caring dog in the world. He melts your heart the first time you meet him. He is amazing with our children and enjoys family movie nights. He loves to interact with company when they come to visit and is just full of life and joy. He seems even though this rough patch we are going through with him to still be full of life but has issues with chewing sometimes. My dog is a not a dog but a family member. Alizae needs to have radiation done to help reduce or completely remove his mouth tumor. I don't have enough funds to cover it and financially in a bind. I am trying anything to save my dog. VCA Medical Hospital in the treating hospital for my dog Alizae. They are located in Aurora, Illinois. We have paid for diagnosis biopsy and to figure out if there is a way to treat him. The tumor has grown a little since the last time we saw them so it's so important that we get radiation treatment started Alizae is the most loving dog. He is so smart and idolizes our children. Our kids are absolutely in love with him and so heart broken over his cancer. He has a way about him that just shows you how much he loves you by looking at him. He is sweet to other dogs and loves cuddling with other animals and humans. Just overall joyful and high spirits even with cancer.

Baby Bear
Baby Bear is a 6-year-old Pitbull mix in Lockport, IL, who needs $2,000 for IMHA treatment.
Lockport, IL
I adopted Baby Bear from Tender Love and Care a small little rescue out by were I live. I got her around 4 months old and she was actually born on the same day my other baby passed away. Her mother was a beautiful blue nosed pitty and we thought she was going to be this big dos to but she stopped growing after she hit 20 pounds and has been a small munchkin ever since. My baby girls loves to sleep under the covers. She has to be touching you at all times. Her favorite toys are stuffed animals, she has a favorite its this little all black bear that she will not chew or rip up. She treats it like her little baby. She does have a big sister Emma and a cat friend Tigger. Due to covid I lost my job as a maid. I currently found a part time job but between Bears medications and tests she needs done I am not able to cover everything she needs Baby bear was diagnosed with IMHA It is a very serious condition where her body kills her own healthy red blood cells. She had to spent multiple days in the hospital and underwent a blood transfusion. She currently has a treatment plan in place and is on 6 different medications. We have to go back to the vets every 2 weeks for blood work and tests at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital. My munchkin is terrified of loud noses any big bang and she is under the bed so fast haha. One of her favorite things to do is to relax in the pool. She has her own floaty and just lays there enjoying life. Her sister Emma has one also but sometimes they love to share the same floaty and cuddle on the water.

Sydney
Sydney is a 6-year-old Vizsla in Elmhurst, IL, who needs $3,383 for Radiation .
Elmhurst, IL
Sydney came from a breeder in Port Byron, IL. We have had a total of 4 Vizslas in the family come from this breeder and they're all quirky, goofy, and clones of each other!! Each one of them has had their own personality, but yet still are all the same. You have to own a Vizsla to understand how truly unique and human-like they are! Sydney is probably the most spoiled dog you'll ever meet. She has been in our life for 6 years now. She sleeps in bed between my husband and me, as well as our other four legged Vizsla, Macy. She is our "nerdy kid at the playground" who usually sits in the corner during doggie day care outings. She prefers human interaction and one-on-one attention, because it's all about her (of course). I lost my job the day after meeting with Dr. Sowders due to COVID lay-offs where I work. This was extremely heartbreaking and completely unexpected. I am asking anyone and everyone for help to give her the best quality of life. She is our whole world and love her so much. VCA Animal Hospital of Aurora diagnosed Sydney with hemangiopericytoma, a malignant tumor of her limb. She underwent one surgery already but unfortunately the vet was not able to remove it all. Dr. Sowders recommended radiation therapy for the best prognosis and to decrease the risk of metastasis. With radiation, she has about an 80% chance this will not reoccur for at least the next 3-5 years. She started suffering from extreme anxiety at about 3 years old, to the point where she couldn't even go on walks anymore. She was afraid of her own shadow and everything in the world scared her. At first, we thought it was cute, but we worked hard every day to show her the world isn't a scary place. Her little sister, Macy, has been a big help to expose her to this wonderful world!
