Petri
Petri is a 10-year-old in Chicago, IL, who needs $1,302 for Dental Extraction and Ophthalmic Surgery.

Petri was found by a friend who saw him thrown from a moving pickup truck. He was nursed by our friend back to health and we then adopted him. I (Shawn) have been with him since 2011, and Erik has known him three years, and spoils him more than I do. Petri is named after the baby Dino in “Land Before Time.” Petri is currently an only child, his big brother Rorschach passed 2 yrs ago. Petri takes care of us by sitting with Erik while he is doing his homework, he gets us to bed on time and keeps us warm with his cuddles, and helps us to remember the humidifier needs filled (pictured). Family dinner is in the living room (Petri loves bacon off the pizza). Petri is always either in our lap or on our shoulder. When Erik is out doing errands, Petri walks around the house calling for him by name: “Daddy Errrr!” He started by calling him “Errr” originally, and when we started calling Erik “Daddy Errr,” Petri started doing it. We picked our apt. because we knew Petri would love the windows. Sunbathing is one of his favorite morning rituals. He always greets us at the door, and cuddling beats food any day. We take Petri to the Valparaiso Animal Hospital to see Dr. Butler. She takes amazing care of our little one. He needs to have all of his teeth taken out and a Surgery for his left eye. His bottom eyelid is folding up into his eye and is causing it to be irritated. The operations should correct both of his issues. Erik lost his job at the restaurant after we both had to quarantine for Covid-19. With car issues and having to pay for last semester out of Pocket, we need some help getting Petri back to health. He is on pain meds to help him eat. Help us get Petri well and happy again.
Fendi
Fendi is a four-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat in Huntington, WV, who needs $2,000 for critical surgery.

Grateful. That might be the best way to describe Fendi. The moment the injured, emaciated cat ate the food his rescuers fed him, he purred with pure excitement. With every bite, Fendi let everyone know how thankful he is by saying, "Nom, nom, nom. Nom, nom, nom." It's so precious and almost unbelievable they recorded video of him humming with happiness. A delivery driver first spotted Fendi lying in a field. The driver slammed his truck into park, jumped out, swooped in, and picked up the emaciated and injured cat. The driver turned into a hero and went to the nearest home, asking if they knew who owned the cat. When no one recognized Fendi, the man brought him home and posted for help on social media. That's when One By One Animal Advocates came to the rescue next. "The man sent us videos of the cat trying to walk and asked if we could take him," Heather A., with the group, tells Waggle. "It was clear the cat was hurt. It was painful and awkward to watch." One By One brought Fendi to an emergency animal hospital. He had two broken legs, a broken pelvis, and was starving. "How he was able to fend for himself outdoors, as broken as he was, is amazing," Heather says. "He is the sweetest cat. In every video the ER veterinarian sent us, he's just purring the entire time, pushing his head on people. He was so underweight he loves to eat." Unfortunately, Fendi's fractures were old, and his bones began to heal improperly. The animal hospital put splints on his broken front and back legs, but he needs orthopedic surgery to fix them at Proctorville Animal Clinic. The group is trying to raise the money for Fendi's operation. With the proper care, his prognosis is excellent. Heather expects once Fendi heals post-op, he will be put up for adoption and continue to inspire people. "This cat will make the best of every situation," Heather adds. "He improves your mood immediately. If he can be this happy and loving when he's so broken, he will be fantastic. Everyone who has met him thinks he's phenomenal." Please help Fendi get back on all four feet again. He needs a few more heroes in his journey. Will you be one of them?
Phoenix
Phoenix is a six-year-old Lab mix in Warwick, RI, who needs $670 for emergency care.

This sad-looking mother dog was spared from euthanasia at the last possible moment. The shelter initially thought she was in heart failure because of her extended belly but quickly noticed she was producing milk and had pups wiggling around inside her belly. She needed help fast. The moment Rhode Home Rescue heard about Phoenix, true to their name, they came to her rescue! "Phoenix was incredibly anemic and weak," Nadine M., from the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "She needed immediate fluids and veterinary support. She is currently at the Florence Veterinary Clinic in MS, where she gave birth to eleven perfect puppies. She will need heartworm treatment after she weans the pups as well." Rhode Home Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run rescue. All funds they receive go to the dogs the organization saves. They never shy away from taking on a challenge. Many of these dogs would have died without care due to their medical needs. And by saving Phoenix, the group saved a dozen dogs! With your help, the entire family will have a great future. "Phoenix is gentle, sweet, and holds no grudges. Everyone who has met her has quickly fallen in love with her calm and gentle spirit. She has been nothing short of amazing throughout her entire treatment, and we can't wait to see her blossom as she gains strength. She is a resilient and strong momma," Nadine adds.
Haven
Haven is a four-year-old Great Pyrenees in Milford, OH, who needs $2,000 for emergency surgery.
Huntington, WV • One by One Animal Advocates
One by One Animal Advocates tells Waggle they only found Haven by chance, and thank goodness they did. It all started as a routine call and ended like a scene from a horror movie! The animal welfare group dispatched their volunteers to a yard in a rural area to pick up some unwanted puppies. After the volunteers arrived, they started walking around the property to ensure they found all the pups. That's when they saw a dog's leg lying in the yard! "Just retelling it makes you feel sick to your stomach," Heather A., with One by One Animal Advocates, says. The leg belonged to Haven. "She did not have a great life," Heather says. "She was kept chained up outside next to a barbed-wire fence. She had gotten her hair tangled in the wire. The neighbor shot her in the leg. We don't know why. So the owner cut her leg off. We don't even know how. The pain Haven had to have endured. It's just too much to think through and fathom." Heather tells Waggle Haven's owners said they could not afford veterinary care, so they did the best they could. "It's shocking, disturbing, and sad. We're all horrified," she says. Haven's owners agreed to give her to One by One Animal Advocates' volunteers. They rushed her to Gallardo Family Animal Hospital. Haven was in horrendous pain when she walked. So the medical team operated to remove some bone rubbing against her body from the botched amputation. She also had crummy teeth that needed to be removed and was spayed. Once Haven heals, she is anticipated to have a good outlook. She is in a foster home now recovering. One by One Animal Advocates was not financially prepared to take on Haven's case, but there was no way the group would leave her behind. Now they're racing again, this time to raise the money to pay for all Haven's medical care. "Haven's owners failed her," Heather says. "We need your help getting her every bit of help she needs. What she went through was terrible. We want to give her the best life in the future."
Jarbi
Jarbi is a four-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $900 for urgent dental surgery.

Despite all Jarbi has been through, he is one of the most resilient and loving dogs to come through the doors of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue. "He was found as a stray," Mark R., from the rescue, tells Waggle. "Even though he was microchipped, his family never came to the shelter to rescue him. Then poor Jarbi developed kennel cough and was placed into isolation, alone and out of public view. Not even the volunteers were allowed to see him and say hello." Mark has a huge heart, and when he hears of dogs like Jarbi, he races to the rescue! "Jarbi is the most loving guy in the world. He's super sweet, loves going on walks, and giving kisses. He's fit in with our pack from the moment we rescued him. Jarbi loves to run around our yard, smell the plants, and enjoy the sunshine," Mark says. But when Mark was getting all those kisses, he got a whiff of Jarbi's breath which alerted him to trouble. "His breath was horrible. When we opened his mouth, we were disgusted to see a totally rotten tooth. It was so badly infected that the infection was in his sinuses," Mark says. Mark brought Jarbi to VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital and learned Jarbi needs urgent dental surgery and antibiotics immediately. Southern California Pit Bull Rescue doesn't shy away from saving dogs with medical needs, but they rely on donations to care for them. "Just this week alone, we had four dogs that required over $5,000 in vet bills. We are a registered 501(c)(3) that depends on donations to help these amazing dogs," Mark says. The rescue is excited for Jarbi to get his surgery so he can then be posted for adoption and find the forever family he so deserves. "Jarbi has become best friends with another of our rescue dogs," Mark says. "They enjoy going on walks together and just hanging out. Jarbi is a very mild-mannered dog that listens and respects others. He's always wants to be pet and loves human interaction. He loves to hang out and be a part of the family. He's just a fun-loving guy that is looking for his new home."
Loki
Loki is a 12-year-old Labrador mix in Duluth, MN, who needs $640 for urgent surgery.

John H. and his dog, Loki, have been a dynamic duo for the last 12 years, and right now, they need your help! "Loki has been my companion; he has been my prince since he was six weeks old," John tells Waggle. "Loki and I have been homeless since July 1, 2018. He has been by my side through so many ups and downs in my life." Recently John brought Loki to the Grand Avenue Veterinary Clinic. "I took Loki to the veterinarian for a growth on his left ear that had opened and was bleeding. At that time, the veterinarian determined that Loki would need surgery to remove a tumor and likely a portion of his ear. This surgery would help prevent further injury, future infection, improve his hearing, and prevent future spread of cancer," John says. But John is going through some tough financial times, and he can't afford Loki's surgery. "I am currently on Social Security disability as my primary income. I do work, but with being on disability, I am limited to the number of hours I can work." Not being able to pay for Loki's care breaks John's heart. "I know Loki still has lots of love and support to give me, and I would be devastated to lose him. Loki is my best friend. He doesn't leave my side and shows everyone love. He is always the first to say hello to anyone he meets. He has expressive facial features, and his tail is always wagging. He is an extremely social dog and makes friends anywhere he goes, both human and other animals." John also tells Waggle that Loki provides him with so much support that he finds hard to receive from others. "He is my shadow and is always by my side. He loves to snuggle under the covers with me and makes me feel loved unconditionally, no matter what we are going through in our life together." Please help John save his best friend!
Jutta
Jutta is a nine-month-old German Shepherd puppy in Atascadero , CA, who needs $1,484 for hip replacement surgery.

Jutta is just nine months old and is already in such agony from hip dysplasia her only hope is a double hip replacement! "She is living in pain, and without surgery, her quality of life is very bad," Jason B., Jutta's human dad, tells Waggle. "We worked hard to do our due diligence before we bought her. Jutta's parents are both certified with good hips and elbows. This has been heartbreaking and a surprise to us." Jason is struggling to come up with all the money for her unexpected operation. The medical team at VCA Animal Specialty Group is ready to help Jutta. "They will need to do one hip at a time with a recovery time of about three months in between," Jason says. "We love this dog and don't want to euthanize her. The cost of the treatment is a lot, and we want to help her. According to our vet, she can live a full and active life after this surgery. She has many years ahead of her that we want to help provide." Jason's family has fallen in love with Jutta, and they are crushed. "Jutta is a member of our family and interacts so well with people and other pets. She is very attentive to everyone with a wonderful personality that greets you at the door with a smile. She loves to play in the yard but enjoys being inside with the family the most. She loves her toys and playing fetch and tug of war. Her pain has limited her play for sure, which is hard to see," Jason says. Can you help Jutta live a pain-free life with her family, who adores her?
Helena
Helena is a ten-year-old Yorkie mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,055 for urgent surgery.
Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue
The clock was ticking on Helena's life. The senior Yorkie mix was picked up by animal control in Texas and brought to a shelter where she faced being euthanized. The poor thing was matted, filthy, and had several hardened mammary tumors. Luckily, the shelter contacted Scott B. with Pooch Savers Rescue. "Anytime we get a call from a shelter, we'll do our best to make space available," Scott tells Waggle. "They told us she was older and needed help. We did not want her to get euthanized. That's just not in our DNA." Soon after Scott picked Helena up, he learned she was a medical mess. "We took her into our vet for an assessment," Scott says. "Outside of needing to be spayed, she has severe periodontal disease, along with the mammary masses." Helena will have surgery at Noah's Ark Vet to fix her teeth, spay, and remove her tumors. The masses will be sent to pathology and will hopefully be benign. But first, the rescue needs to raise the money for her case. They're hoping you'll help this diamond on the rough. "I'm very optimistic once she gets the medical attention she needs, she will live out the rest of her life to her breed's standard age of 15 to 16 years," Scott says. "I'm so grateful for anyone who can donate to help us help Helena. She deserves the best!"
Danni
Danni is a one-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $622 for urgent surgery.

Danni was found as a stray who was struggling to walk. She got picked up and sent to an animal control facility where the injured pup didn't have much of a chance of being adopted. As her days were numbered in the shelter, Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, came to her rescue! Besides being adorable, cute, and pretty, Mark immediately discovered that Danni loved toys. "When we went to take her from her shelter kennel, she grabbed one of her toys she had and brought it with her to her foster home," Mark tells Waggle. The medical team at All Paws Riverside Animal Hospital found Danni had a torn ACL, and she needs immediate surgery to fix it. Now Southern California Pit Bull Rescue is racing to raise donations to pay for the bill. "Her surgery is critical, and it will be life-changing," Mark says. "The longer she goes without the operation, more arthritis will form. We must get her in soon." Mark says Danni is worth every penny, and every cent someone gives to her campaign will help her recover and find the forever home she deserves. "The donations help us give these dogs quality of life. Without donations, we would not be able to continue our work. Danni is sweet, and she loves other dogs too."
