Samuel’s Head Wound Is Badly Infected—He Needs Urgent Care

When Samuel arrived at ACF's rescue gate, their hearts broke. He was trembling with fear, dehydrated, burning with fever—and suffering from a massive, infected wound on his head. It was clear this poor boy had been in agony for far too long. Despite everything, Samuel’s eyes told us something powerful: he hadn’t given up on people. Even in his weakest moments, his tail gave the faintest wag—a small spark of hope that someone still cared. We could tell Samuel had once been someone’s beloved pet. Somewhere along the way, he was abandoned—possibly because his injury required care his owners didn’t want to provide. Left alone, he endured pain no animal should ever experience. Samuel is finally safe now, but his healing journey is far from over. His wound still needs regular cleanings, his body relies on daily medications, and time is the only thing that can truly mend what he’s been through. But he’s fighting—slowly, steadily, bravely. With every gentle touch, every meal, and every bandage change, he’s healing—not just physically, but emotionally too. Update 12/4/25 Sweet Samuel has been giving everything he has to recover—but these past few days have been especially hard on him. Despite the gentle care, the medicine, the cleanings, and the love he’s surrounded with, Samuel is slowing down. He’s become more lethargic, and his body is clearly struggling to keep up with the demands of healing such a massive and deeply infected wound. Our team is doing everything in their power to support him, but his condition is now critical. Even so, Samuel keeps trying. There’s still that spark in him—a quiet hope that pushes him to hold on. Every time he lifts his head or gives the smallest wag of his tail, it reminds us just how much he wants to stay, to keep fighting, to feel safe and loved again. But he cannot do this alone. 98 Hoarding Cat
98 Hoarding Cat is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Richland Center, WI, who needs $2,000 for medical care.

OMHS was alerted about a hoarding situation from one of their partner shelters, where 98 cats were found in a small home. Their partner shelter typically takes dogs, so they did not have the capacity to house cats. OMHS is amazingly providing care for 73 of these 98 cats, which is a MASSIVE undertaking, especially as they are already caring for so many animals. All aside from 5 require spaying and neutering. All need vaccinations, deworming, felv/fiv testing. A few will need dental care. One very old guy will need some senior lab work and, most likely, a full mouth extractions. All are rather underweight and will need to gain weight. 2 of the cats in the house had such severe cerebellar hypoplasia that one (the male) needed humane euthanasia immediately (he couldn’t walk at all and his back legs were severely atrophied from never being able to use them. The couple told them they kept him draped over the sink to rinse off his backend 😞). They performed lab work on the female (she’s just slightly less severe) and wanted to rule out toxoplasmosis as part of her problem. Unfortunately, after the 1 month of treatment, she has no improvement. They recently lost another after severe malnutrition and a possible congenital issue caused him to have severe illness. They hospitalized him and tried so hard with treatments, but he didn’t make it. A couple of the cats have head tilts from chronic ear infections. One guy has it quite severely and will need multiple treatments to his ears to resolve it. Six were pregnant, and four had babies in their shelter and in a partner shelter. Tragically, there was overwhelming evidence in the home of the female cats giving birth, but no kittens were found. These are only a few of the horrific cases found in this home. None of these cats deserved this kind of treatment, and we are grateful that OMHS is helping so many of these poor babies. With so many of them needing medical attention, the bills are stacking up quickly and draining their emergency funds. OMHS desperately needs your help. They can't do this alone. Severely Malnourished and Dehydrated, Finn Is Fighting to Stay Alive

When kind strangers found little Finn wandering alone, they knew he wouldn’t survive much longer on his own. They brought him to our rescue gate — a trembling, fragile ball of fur who looked more like a stuffed toy than a real puppy. Underneath that fluffy coat, Finn was severely dehydrated and malnourished. His tiny heart pounded with fear, and he was so stressed that he couldn’t even bring himself to drink water. We had to gently coax him, drop by drop, to help him stay alive. No one knows how long Finn struggled on the streets — hungry, scared, and completely alone. What we do know is that he finally has a chance. With urgent veterinary care, proper nutrition, and time to heal, this terrified little soul can learn to trust again. Update 11/4/25 Sweet little Finn continues to fight for his life, and we’re doing everything we can to help him pull through. When he was rescued, we knew he was in bad shape — but we’ve since learned just how serious his condition really is. Finn is extremely anemic after being covered in fleas that drained much of his tiny body’s blood. On top of that, our vet discovered a critical liver condition that requires intensive treatment and monitoring. He’s also severely malnourished, likely from trying to survive on scraps and never being properly weaned from his mother. Despite everything, Finn is holding on. He’s receiving fluids, specialized nutrition, and around-the-clock care from our team and his veterinarians. We’re taking things hour by hour, giving him every chance possible to recover. Help Flurry Fight for Her Chance to Grow Up Healthy

Tiny Flurry has already beaten the odds once—but she needs your help to keep fighting. Flurry and her brother Domino were heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list at the county shelter because they were suffering from mange and upper respiratory infections. These kittens were just babies, and their lives were nearly cut short before they ever got the chance to begin. Thankfully, Adopt A Cat Foundation stepped in to save them both. Under our care, Flurry’s mange has improved tremendously—but her respiratory infection has lingered. Despite medications and supportive care, her symptoms have worsened, and she’s begun to lose her playful kitten energy, becoming more lethargic and weak. Flurry will be heading to the vet this week for additional diagnostics to determine what’s causing her infection to persist and how we can help her heal once and for all. She’s such a sweet, resilient little soul who deserves the chance to grow up healthy and loved. Help Artemis Breathe Easy Again

Artemis is one of Adopt a Cat Foundation’s cherished permanent residents. She came to us feral, and because of her partial blindness and chronic health challenges, she will spend her life safe and cared for in our shelter. She may not be adoptable, but she is deeply loved. Recently, Artemis experienced a severe flare of her chronic upper respiratory condition. She was struggling to breathe, so we rushed her to the vet immediately. There, she received fluids, an antibiotic injection, and a B12 injection. The vet also ran diagnostic tests, including senior bloodwork and an upper respiratory PCR panel, to determine exactly which bacteria or virus is making her sick. Thanks to this care, Artemis is already breathing more comfortably and showing signs of improvement. But her diagnostics and treatment come at a cost, and as an all-volunteer rescue, we can only continue to provide this level of care with your support. Every gift ensures we can keep her safe, comfortable, and thriving despite her chronic health struggles. Update 10/24/25 Our brave girl Artemis is still battling congestion, despite ongoing nebulizer treatments and antibiotics. She’s been such a fighter through it all, but her breathing hasn’t improved as much as we hoped. Because Artemis can be quite fractious, vet visits are stressful and challenging for her—but we may need to take her back soon for another exam and additional diagnostics. We’ll do whatever it takes to help her feel better and breathe easier again. Update 11/20/25 We are so happy to share some much-needed good news about our sweet Artemis. After weeks of congestion, nebulizer treatments, antibiotics, and constant monitoring, she has finally turned a corner. Her congestion has broken, her breathing is much clearer, and she’s been feeling noticeably more comfortable. Best of all, Artemis is now back in the free-roaming room with her cat friends — a place where she feels safe, confident, and content. Seeing her reconnect with her familiar buddies, relax in her favorite spots, and enjoy some gentle social time has been such a relief for all of us who love her.

Help Loki Heal After a Roadside Accident

When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare found Loki lying helpless by the roadside, they could see the fear and pain in his eyes. This young dog had clearly suffered a terrible accident—he was unable to move, his little legs badly wounded, and his body trembling in distress. Rushed to the hospital, Loki was immediately examined and X-rayed. The results were heartbreaking: he had a complete fracture in his left femur and a mild fracture in his sacrum. Even worse, his open wounds had become severely infected, and his bloodwork revealed life-threatening anemia. Despite everything he’s been through, Loki’s gentle spirit still shines through. When volunteers visit him, he wags his tail softly, as if to say he knows he’s safe now. Right now, Loki is on strong antibiotics and antiparasitic treatment for babesiosis, a tick-borne infection that made his condition even more complicated. Once his blood count improves and the infection is under control, he’ll need surgery to repair his broken femur—a crucial step to help him walk, play, and live pain-free again. Loki has already shown incredible will to survive, but he can’t do it alone. Your support can give him the chance to heal and run again. Gentle Senior Ryan Needs Help After Being Found Injured

Ryan’s story began on a rooftop, where a kind Good Samaritan spotted him alone and afraid. Unsure how he got there or how long he had been struggling, they reached out to Adopt a Cat Foundation for help. The rescue immediately took this senior boy into their care, making sure he was safe, healthy, and brought up to date on vaccines. From the start, Ryan has shown nothing but sweetness. He’s incredibly docile with other cats—so gentle, in fact, that in the free-roaming shelter environment, he often gets picked on. Ryan never fights back. Instead, he cowers, hides, and tries to avoid conflict. This week, volunteers noticed Ryan approaching them with blood on his cheek. No one knows exactly what happened—whether another cat attacked him or if he has a painful issue inside his mouth, possibly dental-related. What we do know is that Ryan needs veterinary care right away. Ryan is heading to the vet this week for a full exam, diagnostics, and any treatment he needs to help him heal and feel safe again. Rex is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Coventry , CT, who needs $2,000 for Soft Tissue Surgery, Anesthesia, and Radiograph.

Rex is our 7 year old cat who we received as a kitten at just 8 weeks old. He is an orange and white fluffy handsome fellow living in our family farm house. Rex has a tumor that is excreting fluid on the back of his head/neck area and could be cancer. The vet says it needs to be removed as soon as possible. He also has canine teeth that need to be removed due to a severe infection and possibly 8-10 other teeth:(. Our vet is Fenton River Valley Veterinary Hospital in Tolland, CT. Rex is very lovey and has a close bond with everyone in the family especially my youngest son. He loves to be held, roll around in the sun, and loves playing with our dog. The vet has quoted us between $1500-2500 depending on the amount of teeth that need to be removed. We cannot afford this as we are struggling financially and are in desperate need to save our beloved cat Rex. We are doing everything we can to scrounge up enough to save Rex

Bo came to us after surviving a brutal attack — her head had been pelted with stones while she was held down and beaten. When she arrived at ACF Animal Rescue, her entire head was a mass of open, bleeding wounds. She was trembling, terrified, and in shock. Her eyes darted around in confusion, trying to make sense of where she was. A kind stranger found her and brought her to our gate — and that simple act of compassion may have saved her life. Bo was severely malnourished, dehydrated, and weak. Her wounds were badly infected, and we weren’t sure she would survive those first critical days. Every movement made her flinch; her body was locked in fear and pain. But slowly, Bo’s story is turning toward hope. Today, there’s a gentle wag in her tail. She’s beginning to trust the people caring for her and shows small, beautiful signs of healing — a quiet stretch, a soft sigh, a blink that says, “I’m safe now.” Bo prefers the safety of her cozy cage, curling up on her blanket and stepping out only when she’s ready. On the streets, there’s no shelter, no protection, no kindness. Here, for the first time, she has all three. At ACF, we’re giving Bo the medical care, protection, and patience she needs to heal — both inside and out.
