Blitzle
Blitzle is a 9 year old Mix-Breed in Des Moines, IA, who needs $8,000 for Fatty Liver Needing Aggressive Nutritional Support.
Des Moines, IA
I got Blitzle when he was a kitten. He was found in a very run-down home that was infested with fleas. When he was brought home he was very sick, but he's a fighter. He has an older cat brother, Pikachu, and a younger dog brother Jasper. He and his brother Pikachu were named after Pokemon. We recently moved, introducing a new senior cat named Nala. He loves cuddles, and spending time with his humans. Recently, Blitzle was diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease. We believe it was caused by the stress of our recent move. The vets at BluePearl say that he has a very good chance of recovery with hospitalization. He will need to have a feeding tube and IV placed, and he will need to stay from anywhere between 3-7 days. They won't know how long his stay will be until they can see what kind of progress he makes. He is the sweetest boy you will ever meet. Every night he goes to sleep in my 8-year-old daughter's room, making sure she's safe, secure, and asleep before coming in to cuddle with me. He instinctually knows when we're upset and always tries to help make us feel better with cuddles and purrs louder than a race car. This boy has helped me through so much through the years. He's my soul pet. We're a low-income household. I recently purchased a house, using all of my savings. I thought I would have more time to replace my savings before an emergency. I used the last of the savings I had getting him diagnosed. He's my best friend. My whole world. I can't give up. Please help us help Blitzle.

Athena
Athena is a 3 year old American Shorthair in West Des Moines, IA, who needs $2,000 for Feline Idiopathic Cystitis and Urinary Blockage.
West Des Moines, IA
She was a rescue from outside. Athena was the last of her litter to survive from a cat mom found outside my parent's home. Her name is based on the Greek goddess, and her new sister she hasn't been able to meet yet due to her complications is named after another Greek goddess Persephone. We got her diagnosed 4 weeks ago with urinary crystals. We have been to several vets and had to bring her into an emergency vet over the weekend because she was unable to pee by herself. She had constipation with an enema, a UTI, and a urinary blockage. We have done X-rays, ultrasounds, blood work, put in a urinary catheter, and we are still unable to get her to pee. Next steps are an MRI. She just recently got a younger sister that they haven't been able to meet yet. Athena loves to be around people. She follows us wherever we go in the home and chirps at us about her day. She loves to play, and we spend multiple hours every day with different toys or games she likes. Furthermore, she loves playing with ping pong balls or mini rubber footballs. We have fixed income, and we are running out of normal veterinary resources to find out what is wrong with her bladder. Unfortunately, in the state of Iowa they do not have the resources for an MRI machine so we would need to travel to other states to continue diagnostics.

Scooter
Scooter is a 1 year old Boston Terrier in Ankeny, , who needs $2,000 for Eye Removal.
Ankeny
We got scooter from a breeder. He is a good companion for my other Boston. My husband passed away and I’ve had huge life changes to overcome and have been trying to get my normal back. Financially I was working my way to get a home for us I have been living with my daughter but he had to be separated and go to my sons. He was doing well and just rough housing with other dogs and one dog bit him We’re looking for some help to cover surgery cost for them to remove the eye. He has a scratched cornea and emergency surgery to fix it would have been the first option but we don’t have the funds so the other option is to have his eye removed we really want to keep him in our family and not have to surrender him to a shelter because of an injury. Blue Pearl hospital. He’s such a playful dog and so sweet. He’s only a year old and doesn’t deserve to be thrown away because of an injury. He find comfort in sucking on his favorite toy or blankie. He also needs his blanket for comfort. He love all the loves! My husband passed and I have been financially struggling the last year and I’m working really hard to get my life back together after this loss. I can’t lose another family member he means so much to me and has truly comforted me during this hard time.

Nala
Nala is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in Urbandale, IA, who needs $500 for Anti-Seizure Medication and Skin Issues.
Urbandale, IA
So this cat named Nala is a male cat that has been having seizures and some maybe skin issues my niece is in treatment so we took the cat in and she said it's been having seizures and we don't want to spend any money on it we've spent enough on our niece getting her treatment for addiction and we need to get some medication for the cat To be honest I think the cat just needs a regular feeding which we've been giving it and water it's been drinking a lot of water after seizures but from what we can tell there's a medication that's relatively cheapThat The cat keeps to himself most of the day he will come upstairs with me because he thinks I'm getting ready to eat something he lets me pet him and when he gets kind of aggressive because of the seizures he wants to nip at my toes but I think he's just excited and disoriented Like I said we've spent enough on our niece that we can't afford to pay for any medication but the cat don't deserve to be suffering like this so I'm just asking for some help

Bubble
Bubble is a 10 year old American Shorthair in Ankeny, IA, who needs $10,000 for MRI and Mass Removal Surgery.
Ankeny, IA
Nine years ago, I met Bubble at ARL after her owner left her, and we quickly formed a bond that led me to adopt her. Soon after, at a vet visit, I found a timid six-month-old kitten named Max, whom I renamed T.Rex. Their names reflect my hope that Bubble, who had lost her kittens, and T.Rex, small and shy, could find happiness together, like a T.Rex joyfully chasing bubbles. A couple of years ago, Bubble developed a small lump on her neck that the vet said was just fat. Recently, it has grown so we took her to another vet. They recommended me to BluePearl Pet Hospital because of the lump’s location and it might be cancer. The initial estimate for scans, surgery, and care might be up to 10K including MRI scans, surgery, and follow-up care. She’s become tired, hides away, pees outside her litter box, and no longer enjoys her favorite treats. She even stopped exploring the backyard with T.Rex, something she once loved. It breaks my heart to see her withdraw and lose her playful, loving spirit. I’m going through a financial crisis after losing my job a few months ago. My dad, who just finished his battle with cancer, is living with me, and my husband is currently the only one working full-time to support us. I’m doing everything I can to raise funds for my cat, Bubble. Her procedure could cost up to $10,000, and while I’ve managed to gather $5,000 through my savings and the generosity of family and friends, we still have a long way to go. Any kind of support—whether through a donation, sharing this message, or offering words of encouragement—would mean so much to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping Bubble get the care she truly needs. Thank you so much!

Toby
Toby is a 5 year old American Shorthair in Mitchellville, IA, who needs $2,000 for Perineal Urethrostomy.
Mitchellville, IA
In 2021, I was living alone for the first time far away from home. I had begun to feel very lonely and found myself in the local shelter one random Tuesday. With no intentions of bringing home a cat that day, I immediately fell in love with my boy the second I saw him. He quite literally saved my life and has been the other half of me ever since. We adopted his brother in 2023 and it’s been great. A few months ago, Toby was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis which causes chronic obstruction in his urethra which requires immediate care. He’s been hospitalized 3 times and is currently admitted at BluePearl and will require surgery to hopefully prevent anymore blockages. Toby is the sweetest boy you will ever meet. He turns every dog person into a cat person the second they meet him. He’s so kind and gentle and loving. He's the biggest cuddler and gives the best hugs. He loves to eat and loves to watch the birds in the feeder outside the window. He loves toys with feathers and going for walks outside in his stroller alongside his brother. Toby has been admitted 3 times in 4 months and is now having surgery. With that comes extensive medical bills which have all piled up at once. It’s just us and I’ve been doing the best I can, but it’s all been very overwhelming.

Poof
Poof is a 11 year old Samoyed in Ames, IA, who needs $2,000 for GI Obstruction.
Ames, IA
My dog Poof is a retired psychiatric service dog, I have had her since she was about 3 months old, she has been with me through everything from coming out to moving to Iowa. She is now 11 years old, I have had her since I was about 14 and we have been inseparable since. We currently live in Iowa with my plenty of other pets and I work and go to school. Poof was rushed to the emergency vet 6/5 after have GI symptoms that got worse in a few hours. It was found she had a obstruction so the ER held her overnight, hoping fluids would help pass it. 6/6 she had worsen &they rushed her into surgery and removed the obstruction. She had to stay at the hospital through 6/8 as she had a fever 6/7 night but she recovered 6/8 & was able to come home. Poof was a service dog to me for a long time, she is my daughter, my best friend. She never judged me, she loves every person she meets and everyone who meets her, loves her. She is the rock of our family, Zero (my younger dog) was trained to be a service dog from her and a big reason he is such a good dog is because of her. Poof is a loving and sweet girl who saved my life more than I can count. I am currently paying for a lot right now with going through a break up recently, I do not have the savings I typically do with all this stress and having to put down one of my ferrets in May was really hard on me emotionally and financially.

Bug
Bug is a 12 year old Mix-Breed in Ames, IA, who needs $2,000 for Hemilaminectomy for IVDD.
Ames, IA
Bug was my wife's cat before we met, she got him while living in Hawaii with her ex husband. He was found at a McDonalds drive through by a friend of hers and they called him her happy meal kitty. He is named Bug due to his big bug eyes! He lives with me and my wife and our other cat Josh. Bug and Josh are best buddies and Josh definitely misses running around with his buddy. We discovered Bugs spinal issues after already having recently had surgery to remove bladder stones. We noticed he was gaining weight and seemed to shun activity. Now we know why, the poor guy has been in pain from movement. Thankful to Blue Pearl pet hospital in Des Moines for finding this spine issue. Bug is hilarious. I have lived with many cats over the years and generally they're all unique in their own ways but Bug is especially unique. He LOVES sink water! He especially loves to stick his head under the faucet while it's running, but not too heavy of a stream, it has to be just right. He's always getting his head soaked, so one of his nicknames is wet head. Bug also loves his brother, Josh Unfortunately this surgery is not cheap. I don't know of anyone that can comfortably fork over $7k without issue. My wife and I both already work 40+ hour a week full time jobs. We can absolutely get the care credit card but there's no way we can afford the near $400/month

Kuma
Kuma is a 5 month old Pomeranian in Davenport, IA, who needs $2,000 for Atlantic-Aaxial Subluxation Stabilization and Surgery.
Davenport, IA
We adopted our sweet Pomeranian puppy in Aug of 2024. We named him Kuma which means teddy bear in Japanese. When he came he was a fluff ball. We took him to his first haircut! He looks like a totally different dog! He lives with his 2 doggie sisters. Who love and watch over him! Kuma was normal the first 2 weeks then began crying in pain at random times. Our vet gave him an X ray and diagnosed him with a rare genetic malformation in his neck called Atlantic-axial subluxation. Which means the first 2 vertebrae in his neck aren’t forming correctly and causing him extreme pain and he could be paralyzed if not stabilized by 6-8months of age he will need surgery. Kuma is very laid back. He loves being held and sleeping in my hair or on my neck. He loves to eat and is growing so fast! He is just a puppy and deserves a chance at life! He cannot play for risking him further injury. The vet is keeping him sedated and on strict crate rest until surgery. Then again for 6 weeks after. He has a high success rate since his symptoms are mild now and he is so young! We are working class and cannot afford the entire 9,000. We are able to contribute. We also applied at national animal organizations for help as well. This is a very unexpected situation. So far we have paid $1200 for his vet bills.

Milo
Milo is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Bondurant, IA, who needs $1,500 for Hemilaminectomy.
Bondurant, IA
We adopted Milo from the rescue AHeinz57 in 2018. He joined two older brothers and mom and dad. He is such a cute and smart dog. After our youngest son moved out for college Milo was our baby and became our confidant. He walks us out as we go to work and is wagging his tail waiting for hugs and kisses when we get back. He loves walks and pulls us around to see all the neighbor dogs. Milo jumped off the deck to go play with the neighbor dog and hurt himself. The next day we noticed Milo was not acting right. He was walking gingerly and just wasn't acting like himself. He got worse to where he couldn't stand on his back legs. We rushed him to Blue Pearl Emergency Vet Hospital. They examined him did x-rays and CT scan and they said he needed to have a hemilaminectomy. Milo is definitely a momma's boy. Wherever mom is at is where you will find him. He loves to snuggle with her and he sleeps in the bed with her, under the covers, right next to her. He also likes to steal people's spots. If you are sitting on the couch and leave you will find Milo has jumped up and stolen your spot. When you get back he just kind of looks at you like, sorry it is my spot now. We had a very difficult decision. Time was not on our side, we had to make a decision to perform a $10,000 surgery or put him down. We were not ready to let him go and the prognosis was good for him to be okay after the surgery. We hope to enjoy him for years to come!

Urbandale, IA
We rescued this dog more than a decade ago. He is an important member of our family. We love in a nice house. He now needs immediate surgery on a mass on his butt. He is my walking buddy and gives my wife and I a lot of emotional support. Walking with him is a form of physical therapy for me that I need as I have sciatica. He has gotten used to snow but hates rain. He is a tough guy and has gotten through a lot of tough situations but needs help on a current one. More details below. He has a mass on his butt. We don't know if it is cancerous but the skin around his mass has been leaking blood. He needs surgery at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital to remove it & test it. We had a serious issue with our home that cost us so much money we cannot afford temporarily this surgery. We need help to save our buddy. Please help!

Ladybug
Ladybug is a 2-month-old Cavalier King Charles in Altoona, IA, IA, who needs $2,000 for Continued Hospitalization and Parvovirus Treatment.
Altoona, IA, IA
On Monday, July 10th, my wife and I brought home the sweetest puppy we have ever met. She was so tiny, yet already so full of love. It was a perfect match. On Wednesday, she started to seem less like herself so we took her to the vet in town and he said she was fine and sent us on our way. By Thursday, we were certain something was wrong so we took her to a veterinary hospital. We were only able to have Ladybug at home for three days, but those three days had an incredible impact on our family. She is so sweet, affectionate, and such a snuggle bug. Her favorite thing is to curl up on our chests and snuggle while enjoying quality pets. Ladybug is a sweetheart through and through. The technicians at the hospital agree, saying that she is the sweetest patient and look forward to getting to work with her. Ladybug was initially being treated for hypothermia and hypoglycemia with no underlying cause. However, after days of treatment, monitoring, and tests, she is now being treated for Parvovirus after a positive test on Sunday morning. We were able to cover the costs of her care for the first few days of treatment, but are reaching the end of our resources as we were not expecting this diagnosis at this point. Being able to bring our sweet girl home and give her endless snuggle would mean the world to us.

Sam
Sam is a 8-month-old Domestic Longhair Kitten in Iowa City, IA, who needs $2,000 for Salivary Gland Excision.
Iowa City, IA
I rescued Sam from outside with his sister at the beginning of November. I reached out to many websites and the local animal shelter and no one had claimed or had been looking for these babies. I decided to get them veterinary care and had them spayed/neutered and dewormed etc. They now both live with my family and our 5 other cats, safe from the outside elements. Sam is such a gentle giant. He is approximately 7 months old but is very heavy and large! We think he may have some Maine Coon in him. He mostly sticks by his sister, they are inseparable. He is a fantastic eater and is happy to eat just about any type, brand, flavor of canned cat food. He plays a lot with our 4 month old kitty, and loves to be on the cat trees. Sam loves the feather wand, and will even carry it around in his mouth sometimes. The whole wand dragging behind him. It's so funny to see. He is so quiet and gentle, with the fluffiest softest fur. He is so sweet. He has a soft meow and really only talks when I am at the counter preparing his food dish! When I took Sam in for his neuter surgery at the spay/neuter clinic they discovered he had significant swelling under his tongue. They drained the liquid and saw that it was saliva. The salivary gland is blocked and saliva just built up again by the next day. We took him to our veterinarian and said he needs the surgery to have the gland removed. We have exhausted all funds for our other kitty who needed emergency surgery for a torn claw in September. We simply do not make enough for this surgery and need help getting Sam to tip top shape. If left untreated it could cause breathing issues.

River
River is a 1-year-old Mixed in Sioux Falls, SD, who needs $2,000 for Thoracotomy.
Sioux Falls, SD
River came to our family from Almost Home Canine Rescue. The first dog that we rescued needed to be euthanized for seizures and was later diagnosed with distemper. River was our healing. She was the pick-me-up that we needed after that first difficult rescue. She has been with our family for a year now and we had just settled into a routine, when she got injured. River is "a sour patch kid". She is so incredibly bossy and tells everyone what to do...and definitely what NOT to do. She loves to chase a good squirrel and she is forever forgetting that she is the smallest. One minute, she's tipping over the garbage and then suddenly, she's sweet and quiet and lying her head in my lap. The the most beautiful, naughty dog that I've ever had. River is incredibly special to us because she really completed the pack. The house finally felt whole and now without her here, the house is way too quiet. I miss the way she gave me nose "boops" every day and stole my side of the bed. Nina asks for her every day and we are hopeful she can return to us. "Booper" is currently at All City Pet Care - South. She has been there for 5 days now and potentially needs a trip to Blue Pearl Hospital in Des Moines, IA if she continues to struggle through the weekend. She is receiving a second chest tube and continues to have large amounts of air released from her lungs. This injury has caused something that now has our family concerned that we may need to euthanize, simply because we can't pay UP FRONT costs. No one plans for $10,000 in care for their dog. Yet, here we are trying everything we can...because River deserves it. <3

Niko
Niko is a 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair in Lacona, IA, who needs $2,000 for Perineal Urethrostomy.
Lacona, IA
Niko came from a litter that was born in my mom's garage and was a gift from her for my birthday since she knew I love black cats. She gave his sister to my brother too, and they both drove home that day snuggled up in my shirt. To this day he likes to snuggle in my shirt. I am disabled and suffer from depression, and he is my emotional support animal. A day in the life of Niko involves a lot of naps, eating and playing. He loves to run around the house and play with his sister. He loves to play with sandals and shoes, and also loves to sit on my computer and watch me play Sims. He is my shadow and follows me around anywhere he can. He is very vocal when he wants attention. I am disabled and pending to get on disability. My brother who I live with currently normally is able to cover routine vet bills for me, but this exceeds his ability to pay and I have no income yet. He maxed out his CareCredit account on the emergency hospital visit already. Niko was diagnosed with feline lower urinary tract disease after having a urinary blockage and ruptured bladder. He spent 6 days in the hospital between his normal vet and a specialty hospital. This cost nearly $4000 already. He is already beginning to show signs of it happening again after less than 24 hours out of the hospital and will most likely need the Perineal Urethrostomy surgery next. Niko is more than just my emotional support animal, he is my like my son. He always greets me at the door when I come home, loves to snuggle and burrow into my shirt to be close, and loves to lick my face. When I am depressed, he sits on me and kneads my shoulder. My first cat passed away 9 months ago at 14 years old, and my dog passed away a couple weeks ago at age 15. He is all I have left.
