Onyx

Onyx is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Charlotte, NC, who needs $3,000 for Cystoscopy.

Charlotte, NC

Onyx has been part of our family since she was a puppy, I got her on my son’s 1st birthday so they could grow up together. She is a loving, loyal companion and truly part of our family. Watching them bond over the years has made her irreplaceable in our home. Onyx is currently experiencing urinary bleeding, and our veterinarian at Care Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency has recommended a cystoscope to determine the cause. This is an advanced diagnostic procedure needed to properly treat her condition. Without it, her condition could worsen. I am seeking help due to the high cost of this necessary care. Onyx is incredibly loving and loyal, especially with my son, she has been by his side since his first birthday. They have truly grown up together. She is gentle, protective, and loves playing fetch with her tennis ball. She brings comfort, happiness, and is a constant part of our everyday lives. I am facing an unexpected and costly medical expense for Onyx that I am not financially prepared for. I want to do everything I can for her, but I need help. Seeing her healthy again would mean everything to my family, especially my kids!

Eazy Lowe

Eazy Lowe is a 5 year old Poodle in Charlotte, NC, who needs $2,000 for MRI, Spinal Tap.

Charlotte, NC

Eazy, my sweet poodle, has been with me since he was 8 weeks old. He came as an early Christmas gift and quickly became family. Eazy chose me first, walking right up — that’s how he got his name. Known for his signature “leg hugs,” he greets loved ones by wrapping his paws around them as if to say, “I missed you, don’t let go.” For 5 years he’s filled our home with love, laughter, and loyalty. Eazy was always full of energy, giving his famous “leg hugs.” One day he began walking strangely, slowed down, and stopped running. His health has since declined. He’s now being treated at CARE Carolina Animal Referral & Emergency Hospital, and we’re working to find answers and give him the care he needs. Eazy is full of warmth and affection. He greets loved ones with his signature “leg hugs,” wrapping his paws around their legs and leaning in for pets. Playful, curious, and loyal, he loves cuddling, following family around, and spreading joy. Everyone who meets him instantly feels his love and kindness. I’m a single parent and sole income earner. After a divorce in March 2025, Eazy has been my emotional support while my daughter’s at college. He’s now sick, and medical costs after spending thousands are overwhelming. Losing him would be devastating.

Charlotte, NC

Rina was brought into my life in 2012 when she was about 6 weeks old. She’s been the highlight of my life from that day forward. We grew up together! A little over a year ago, she was diagnosed with B Cell lymphoma and successfully graduated from the CHOP protocol. Unfortunately, she fell into remission about 4 months later. Her new protocol has not deemed as successful so we will be revisiting CHOP. Since, she has also been diagnosed with glaucoma and most recently, has been admitted overnight with oxygen/fluid in her lung from lymphoma. Rina is such a sweet girl who gets along with other animals and people alike. She has always loved tennis balls and cuddles. She wants to be better so she can play with her family and siblings. She tries to do so even at her worst. She is a fighter. Sudden ER admission visit costing $3000. Each chemo+eye treatment has been roughly $1500 every three weeks. Her CHOP protocol was about $500 a week. I am also newly engaged and preparing for a wedding.

Sven is a 7 month old American Shorthair in CHARLOTTE, NC, who needs $2,000 for Cardiologist, Oxygen Treatment, 24/7 Care.

CHARLOTTE, NC

Sven is an indoor only cat that came into existence by sheer chance of us catching his formerly very feral (VERY pregnant) mom (who we also ended up keeping). Sven resides in a home full of love and LOTS of cat hair. Sven, a 7-month-old kitten, suddenly developed severe respiratory distress on December 31st. Rushed to intensive care, he's been in an oxygen chamber for six days. Specialists are investigating potential causes like heart failure, asthma, or heart defect. Multiple tests and treatments ongoing, with hope for recovery. Sven is a vital part of our little family (5 cats, 2 dogs + feral cat community + fosters). Sven is the glue that holds our family together - bringing joy to the days that aren't so bright. He loves to drag around wand toys and drop them at our feet, subtly letting us know he is ready to play. Sven loves to cuddle with one of our rescue cats Parsnip, AKA Papa Parsnip, and eat a good snack or three Sven's unexpected medical crisis has left us facing overwhelming veterinary bills. As dedicated cat lovers who usually help others, we're now in the difficult position of needing assistance.

Charlotte, NC

Hi! I have had Gemini since she was a puppy. We’ve traveled the world together coming from a military family. She spends her day at doggie daycare and her evenings in bed snuggled up. She is the most energetic friendly puppy who is barely even one. She’s been by my side through all trials and tribulations. Most recently, a divorce that has left us struggling a little financially but are hopeful! This morning I woke up to a deceased puppy. I had no idea she was pregnant and just thought she was getting fat and starting her period as the symptoms are similar. I rushed her to the hospital and discovered there is one more deceased puppy stuck in her uterus. This is highly dangerous and kill her. My girl loves everything and everyone! She loves traveling and cuddling the most. She’s my lover girl and we are very close. She loves playing dress up and running around. I am currently going through a divorce and recently separated from the army. Adjusting to civilian world has been hard but I am in school for my masters in healthcare administration.

Kali

Kali is a 11 year old Mix-Breed in charlotte, NC, who needs $2,000 for CT Scan.

charlotte, NC

Kali came into our life 11 years ago. Found her outside alone at around 2 weeks old. She is a sweet tuxedo cat with a mustache and a bob tail. We immediately took her in and cared for her. She is what made us cat owners. We have 1 other cat 7 years old and a small dog 3 years old. Kali is the OG and Queen of the house. Her name Originated from the Hindu Goddess who represents time and change. Kali's front left arm has become unresponsive, no broken bones, no dislocation and the doctors cannot figure out the issue without a CT scan and further neurology consultation. From blood work to xrays, the only thing is a large circular mass. Further testing will be needed. Our main vet is Monroe Rd animal hospital, and we were referred to Care Charlotte animal hospital for further examination. Kali loves hiding at first but will cuddle anyone coming her way. she loves bursting milk treats and staring out of the window looking for birds. She is amazed by the reflection light makes in a mirror, so it's kind of like playing with the laser toy. She used to love rolling around on her back and showing off for belly rubs. She just loves being around and hanging out. In between jobs and a low paying small business, this was an unexpected cost for ongoing treatment, from the CT scan to Neurology consultation then any further treatment to fix the issue. For now, she has some pain meds, and we are making her comfortable. Giving her love.

We are not sure what is causing her limp and discomfort. It maybe osteoarthritis or a pinched nerve. Sadie is the wise old lady of the crew. She is one of the most loving animals we have. She loves life, car rides and a walk. She is the bouncer of the crew and will break up any little disagreements with the cats. Charlotte, NC

Bizz came into Buffy and I lives in 2022 after losing my kitten Buzz to a rare disease. We adopted him from a rescue as a wee kitten and Buffy soon became his mother figure! They are thick as thieves and basically inseparable. Bizz is a very lovey cat who lives on my chest when I’m sitting or lying down. Likely stemming from how he slept curled up on my chest as a kitten. Him and Buffy (my rescued pittbull in the photos are constantly in competition for all the attention and sometimes I need a 3rd hand! When I don’t have one bizz likes to pet himself with Buffy’s paw or rub on her face. He is the most affectionate kitty Buffy is Bizz’s best friend and even meows at the door for her if I simply take her for a walk outside. Outside of Buffy and I being his favorite, avocado skins and coconut oil are his true loves, he has a sixth sense for when they are out! Bizz is in the hospital as he got frightened and jumped off my balcony (where he usually loves to lounge and eat bugs). He broke his upper jaw, received a plasma transfusion and fractured his paw. He is stabilized now however they believe his jaw requires more than sutures and rather oral surgery to fix. With this being an unexpected sudden major medical expense, after the initial ER visit, night in the hospital and plasma transfusion I am asking for any support for his oral surgery that will cost roughly $6000 more dollars of the $4000 I have spent to get him this far

We don’t want to lose her from this disease right now. We need to help her and my mom still needs her baby in her life. we all do. Moon loves to play with her family. She likes to bring smiles and laughter to everyone in the house. She loves kids and meeting new people. She’s the happiest doggie ever and we are glad she’s here with us. She makes us all very happy after a long day. She’s there when our family goes through tough times. We love her more than anything! She plays a lot with us! she has a teddy bear named ‘bear’ she absolutely loves this plush more than anything. She Carries it around with her and sleeps with it. She’s a very goofy dog. She loves to jump at us when she thinks we’re sad or lonely. She’s always in the mood to play and she’s very talkative. She has a best friend cat who she loves dearly. they play a lot throughout the day! Moon started having complications with her back legs where she was starting to lose her balance and would fall over. she unfortunately also started losing it in her front legs. She can’t even walk now..all she does is lay down and drag herself on the floor. We took her to the vet the told us we need to pay for an MRI scan which we do not have enough for. We need $3,500 to pay for her MRI scan. This is a very unexpected expense we need to get done quickly. We don’t want to lose our baby she’s still young…we really need help. We are desperate. Leo is a 12-year-old Siamese Cat in Charlotte, NC, who needs $2,000 for MRI.

I found Leo when he was only 8 weeks old. He was a barn kitten and I immediately fell in love. I was 16 at the time and my parents were going through a bad divorce, Leo was the one constant in my life and has gone everywhere with me. He talks to me, cuddles with me, and is my absolute best friend. He has moved across states with me, into my first apartment and has been my only baby since the start Leo is a cuddler, at least with me. I joke with people that you’d never know I had a cat cause he hides so well when people come over. He’s a big boy that loves his food and loves sitting in the window sunbathing. When he was a kitten he used to sit on his back and scoot under the bed like it was a racetrack. Leo talks to me all the time. I can call him from another room and he will come running to jump on my lap and purr. He greats me at the door and sits at my feet while I work. He knows sit and say please and will do just about anything for a treat. His favorite treat is tuna or cheese. He loves to be brushed, he’ll sit for hours or as long as you’ll give hime. I noticed one afternoon he wasn’t coming up to me, he had laid down in his kennel and wouldn’t come out, this is very unlike him. The next day I noticed he had lost use of his back legs and couldn’t walk straight or stand up. I immediately rushed him to a veterinary hospital. We waited for 4 hours and told he either has a spine issue or something neurological. I live on my own and don’t have any outside help from family. I work full time and do side jobs as much as I can, but I recently got into a car accident and had to buy another vehicle, which has really stretched my finances.

Dale came into our lives as a stray who showed up at Justin’s shop. He was very sick and underweight. Since then we have been able to get him healthy, but unfortunately he was diagnosed with lung cancer this past month. We able to get the lung cancer taken care of but he is still in need of veterinary care for his recovery. Dale is the best boy. He’s very sweet and loves all dogs and people. He loves his family and his dog siblings Cole & Sophie. Dale is still learning to be a dog so a lot of things are new to him. We give him lots of treats and belly rubs. He is definitely a velcro dog and loves being with his people. Dale is a special boy considering his past. He is still learning to be an inside dog (we assume he was kept outside for most of his life) and he is adjusting nicely. We always laugh because Dale can be quite gassy and has the most toxic farts! He surely has no idea what we are laughing about! He also has quite the appetite, and wants all the treats for himself. Dale was diagnosed with lung cancer after an x-ray was taken last month. He was being hospitalized for a respiratory illness that turned into severe pneumonia. Dale’s surgery is being done by the oncology team. Dale has had a rough two months, we are in need of funds because we spent $7500 saving him last month and have no available resources left. The lung cancer was able to be removed, but his recovery is taking longer than expected and his hospitalization is being extended.

And loves it Marlin is the most loving and caring little guy ever. Shows love to everyone. Has never met a persone he didn’t like. Comes out with us on days we go out and loves every bit of it. Gets really excited when he sees a bunch of friends when they come over and I’m sure will be able to get back up on his feet and continue to be his old self. Loves running outside and doing zoomies. His favorite thing to do on a walk is pick up a small stick and hand it over and plays fetch. His snorts are always so appealing and puts a smile on our face always. Has a special way of eating snacks which is kinda cute if you saw him. Marling is for sure a character. A good one of course Marlin has been suffering from spinal issues. And just got diagnosed with a slipped disk. Really common in French bulldogs. He is not able to walk at his hind legs at the moment but definitely is fighting to get back up. Does not want to give up Unfortunately all the funds aren’t there to cover the expense. Definitely an unexpected expense but we are willing to do anything to get him back to his normal self.

My family started fostering Hazel in 2013. She was on the line to be put to sleep. She quickly became the family favorite. In 2016 she attended nursing school with me. She currently rents a house living with her mom, PitBull Terrier sister and turtle sister. Hazel has a half fenced in yard with the greenest grass on the block and quite a few stray cats she likes to watch from the patio. In the summer hazel loves to go boating and swimming on the lake. In the winter she enjoys the snow in mountains while wearing her doggoogles. Hazel likes to show her 2 year old sister, Peanut a PitBull Terrier how to be a good girl and lick all the PeanutButter. They enjoy playing outside with their dog cousin Sabrina. Hazel has a food bowl that tells her every morning when she finishes her breakfast that she is the best dog ever. She comforts me when I am upset, she protects me when I pee, she wants all the belly rubs and booty scratches all the time. She always has a perfect dismount while getting off of the couch dragging her legs dramatically. Hazel presented to her vet with inflammation of the lymph nodes. She got her leg shaved and had a lymph node aspiration done. The cytology came back positive for lymphoma. She was referred to CARE-Charlotte Area Referral & Emergency where they have a doggie oncologist. Her vet is suggesting CHOP which is a 25 week chemo protocol. Hazels mom was in a life threatening car accident in Aug 2021 draining her savings. Savings for important things like doggie chemotherapy treatment. Hazels mom is still working part time hours due to her healing femur and wishes to provide the best care possible for Hazel.

We saved Sassy from a bad situation when she was about a year old. I say I saved her but instead she truely saved me. She is my protector and my big baby. I can not imagine her not taking up my entire queen size bed or staring at me when she needs to go potty. Or nudging me when she wants to be petted. She makes anyone that meets her smile. She has the most calm and loving personality. Sassy is so loving. She plays with my daughter by arguing with her. She literally backtalks ( barking) while they 'argue' ( play) It is the cutest thing ive ever seen! She is honestly like a child not a dog. We have met people that are afraid of 'pitbulls' but once they meet her and see her huge personality and super calm demeanor she always wins them over! Sassy loves her treats and going for car rides. She enjoys laying in the sun and going under the covers at night. Shes never met a stranger and will attack you - WITH KISSES! Shes a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Sassy loves the dog park and all her friends there. She will lay on her back to let us know that shes not ready to go and everyone laughs at us lol Sassy had a lumpectomy in Feb and results came back as a stage 2 low grade mast cell tumor. They were not able to clear the margins. We finally got in to see the oncologist who recommends another surgery to clear all margins. They are confident of a positive outcome and that they can get it all. The office is Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency. I am alone and work FT. 40 hours a week. Jovie

Jovie is a two-year-old Retriever mix in Lancaster, SC, who needs $1,830 for leg surgery.

Lancaster, SC • Lancaster SPCA

The Lancaster SPCA knew there was something special about Jovie. "We rescued Jovie from the county animal shelter back in June," the SPCA tells Waggle. "We knew he was going to be a medical dog and needed our help. The county shelter's budget cannot cover specialty care." It was clear Jovie had leg issues, so the SPCA brought him to Charlotte Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE), where specialists found his cranial cruciate ligaments needed to be repaired in both his back legs. Jovie needs two major TPLO surgeries to live a happy, pain-free life. On top of these issues, Jovie is heartworm positive -- so before he can safely go under anesthesia, he will need an echocardiogram. Jovie is an easygoing dog. He was a favorite among the staff at the animal shelter. He fit right in with his foster family and their other pets. He also likes to socialize with the neighbor's dogs. He is gentle and friendly. Once Jovie has both of his surgeries and heals, he will be eligible for adoption. Despite his limitations, Jovie still enjoys getting out and about in the world. He does well walking on a leash. He is friendly with other dogs. He has even been to several state parks with his foster family over the last few months. They make sure to take it easy with him and allow him to set the pace. As of right now, the SPCA will have to spend about $8000 for Jovie's surgeries. "We realize this is a large expense, but when we rescue an animal, we are all in," the group adds. "With that being said, we could really use some help raising funds for Jovie!"

April

April is a 7-year-old Boxer mix in Connelly Springs, NC, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy.

Connelly Springs, NC

We got April seven and a half years ago. Someone was giving her away. She was maybe 5 weeks old and we were already her third home. She has a (dog) sister who is two years older than she is. She will sit and stare at you when she wants something. She'll even start to whine. She's only ever been sick one other time in her life. She's been such an easy dog to have and to love. April loves to go hiking. A regular park won't do for her, she gets bored. She almost always has a ball in her mouth. She's not big on fetch, she mostly wants someone to chase her while she plays keep away with it. She loves to love. She'll get right in your face, giving kisses and wagging her whole body. April is the most dog-like dog I've ever met. She likes to chew on sticks, and ball is life. She is a stereotypical big dog, afraid of everything from thunderstorms to plastic bags. She also thinks she's smaller than she is and tries to fit in tiny places. She's just the best dog, always happy, always smiling and ready to love on you. She is sunshine. On October 6th, April had to have a life-saving, emergency surgery. She had her spleen removed. A tumor had ruptured, causing abdominal bleeding. April went to the oncologist on October 21st. We were told that with chemotherapy, there is a chance the cancer won't come back. She was seen at Charlotte Animal Referral and Emergency, by Dr. Hofer. April getting sick was not something I had prepared for. Her emergency surgery took more than the funds that we had. Adding five rounds on chemotherapy on top of that is just more than we have. She is the best dog though and she deserves to be well.

Stevie

Stevie is a two-year-old Pitt Bull in Indian Land, SC, who needs $1,300 for hospitalization to treat seizures.

Indian Land, SC

Ashlee H. and her brother were so excited! A month ago, they adopted Stevie; they named her after the performer Stevie Nicks and the dog sounds just as charismatic. "She loves children and new people. She is well-mannered and outgoing," Ashlee tells Waggle. "She is a very intuitive pup. She can feel whatever energy is in the room and comforts us whenever we are down by laying close to us or putting her head on our hearts!" Then, not even a month after Ashlee adopted Stevie, the dog started having seizures that have not responded to medication. "She continues to have frequent seizures," Ashlee says. "She is currently in the hospital at Care Animal Referral and Emergency. The doctors are monitoring her closely to figure out what we can do to get her better." Ashlee was affected financially by the pandemic, and this unexpected animal hospital bill is hitting at a tough time. All they want is for Stevie to get better so they can bring her home. "She has brought so much joy to us since she came into our lives." Can you help Stevie return to being a rock star?

Paul

Paul is a 4-year-old Chihuahua in Charlotte , NC, who needs $500 for heart worm treatment.

Charlotte, NC

I adopted Paul March 2020 from a shelter in South Carolina. Paul was living in a hoarding situation with 40+ other chihuahuas. He was not house trained, did not know how to walk on a leash, couldn’t go up or down stairs. He was very shy, and nervous for months. When I adopted him I knew he was heart worm positive, we did the treatment. Unfortunately, it failed. After months of being shy, Paul finally opened up to us! He lives with myself, my roomie, her 3 dogs and my cat. Paul’s loves them all! He is a snuggly boy who loves to play with toys bigger than him! He sleeps in bed with me every night right under my arm. He LOVES when his aunty comes home and gets to sit with her on the couch. Paul loves having a cat in the house too. Paul is my world and I will do absolutely everything and anything to keep him happy and healthy. Unfortunately, like everyone else right now with Covid..I am struggling financially. Loosing hours at work, and living paycheck to paycheck in my 20’s Paul had been treated for heart worms in March 2020, the treatment nearly killed him because of how painful it was. At his checkup he ended up coming back positive again, this is VERY rare. Paul has been seeing Dr. Megan Hesson at Clear Creek Animal Hospital and has been seeing a cardiologist at Carolina Animal Referral and Emergency, Dr.Sayer. My favorite thing about Paul is how happy he gets when he sees me, even if I come from the other room into the one he is in. Paul is such a happy boy all of the time. He takes the biggest toys in the house and drags them around acting like he is a big pit bull. When he dreams, he makes the sweetest little sounds that melt my heart.

Suzie

Suzie is an 11-year-old Terrier Mix in Indian Land, SC, who needs $2,000 for liver mass, gall bladder disease, and Cushing's disease.

Indian Land, SC

This is Suzie. She was rescued at a year old, running with a pack of strays in the ‘rough’ area of town. She was already a mother of two litters of puppies when she was rescued in December 2010. She was found living in a barrel with her 2nd litter of puppies. The rescue organization placed her and her pups with us as a foster family. I kept Suzie and she became part of my pack of 3 other dogs. Suzie's life has been simple and full of love since that time. She loves her fur-family (3 dogs and a cat). She likes playing with the cat, sleeping on her dog bed in the living room, chewing on beef hooves, and lots of love and petting. The grandchildren are the best. They give her lots of treats and let her lay in their laps. Suzie has to have more blood tests, a CAT scan, aspirate then surgery can be performed. She is such a loving pup and after such a rough start in life, I cannot imagine having to let her die due to high costs for veterinary care. Suzie's stomach is swollen, and she is uncomfortable laying down. She has three problems to address. She has a mass on her liver, her gallbladder must be removed, and she has Cushing’s disease. Suzie must treated for Cushing's for several weeks, then further tests are needed to see if any major blood vessels are running through the mass to remove it. CARE Charlotte and Faulkner Animal Hospital Suzie gets so excited when it is time to go for a walk that she bounces around and grins from ear-to-ear waiting for the leash to be pulled out. She's not too good walking, though as she wants to stop and smell every blade of grass. She has the cutest way of grinning when she's excited. Suzie is the absolute sweetest dog and only wants to be loved.

Bruno

Bruno is a 2-year-old French Bulldog in Gastonia, NC, who needs $1,900 for an MRI.

Gastonia, NC

I’ve had Bruno since he was 3 months old. He just turned two in November and has become my entire world. Like they say animals save us & he makes me the happiest momma ever! He has been such a healthy little guy and the past month has become full of so many unknowns. He is still so young and it’s hard to picture a life without him! Bruno is house trained and loves company! He does not like being alone and is always down to play! He loves his night time zoomies & I love seeing them. He is obsessed with his cousin & loves cuddle time. He likes to sleep anywhere that’s close to his loved ones & really enjoys being close to you. He does a great job at cheering everyone one up! Like they say when it rains it pours and it really does! This year has already been tough on everyone and this just added a little more to it. This is not an expense I was waiting for and definitely did not come at the right time (not that there’s one ever) I want him healthy! Bruno started to suffer from seizures last month, an emergency visit later & he was better & showed no winds on progression. We held off on medication and this past week seizures were back & medication is not controlling them. An MRI & spinal were recommended to rule out inflammation/infections in the brain. He is currently at Care animal hospital in CLT. Bruno is the cuddliest, friendliest little ball of cuteness out there! He wants to love on everyone he meets and loves to play. He is obsessed with kids. He loves to sleep with his momma, really with anyone he loves. He loves to lay his toys at your feet & loves his stuffies that he ducks on as if they were a pacifier. He is a great little guy!
