Charlotte, NC
My girl shadow came into my life about 13 years ago. At this time, we recently just lost a pet so shadow quickly filled a void. She has been by my side through thick and thin ever since. She really help me emotionally with the passing of my dad. Shadow has been through a number of medical conditions and she has pulled through every time. This includes a mass cell tumor, laryngeal paralysis, brain stem, meningioma, hip dysplasia. She has not given up and has fallen through to stay by my side. She know means a neurology consult impossible testing money is tight, but I'm willing to do anything to keep her by my side. I can't put into words how much shadow means to me and my son. We have a special bond that no one will understand she is not ready to go, and I am not willing to let her. I just moved from New York to North Carolina, because I got engaged. I'm currently still helping my retired mother in New York with the mortgage on the house we own together. My fiancé lost his job so I am the only breadwinner. I Live paycheck to paycheck

Rainbow
Rainbow is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Concord, NC, who needs $2,000 for Back Surgery.
Concord, NC
In 2019, we welcomed Rainbow into our family. She was rescued from a former coworker who was on her way to the dog pound. The name Rainbow was suggested by our youngest daughter, and we decided to make it official. We wrote down our name suggestions, put them in a hat, and let Mawmaw draw the winning name. As luck would have it, Rainbow was the chosen name, and our daughter was over the moon! This morning around 6 am, I noticed Rainbow wasn't her usual happy self. Normally, she'd run to me while I'm making lunch for my daughter. But today, she was having trouble walking. Things took a turn for the worse when she fell down the stairs and struggled to use the bathroom. After dropping off my daughter at school, I took Rainbow to the emergency vet, and the diagnosis was devastating Rainbow, our lovable dog, is going through a tough time. She's usually a bundle of energy, spreading joy and love to everyone around her. But currently, it's sad to see her struggling to scooting across the floor - it's just not like our lively Rainbow. As a stay-at-home mom, I'm responsible for taking one of my daughters to and from a private school that specializes in supporting children with learning issues. Given our fixed income, we're having to adjust to this unforeseen expense, which has arisen suddenly.

Lonex
Lonex is a 4 year old Bluetick Coonhound in Lancaster, SC, who needs $2,000 for Anemia and Hospitalization.
Lancaster, SC
We adopted Lonex from a rescue in 2020. He was so small and the runt of a litter that was born in the shelter. He was only 9 weeks old when we got him. He has been my rock the last 4.5 years we've had hum and he is my heart dog. Lonex went into the get last week with an infection. Since then he has been getting worse every day. Monday evening he was admitted to the hospital with severe anemia, where he still remains. They are running tests to try to find out what is happening and how gest to treat him. He is currently at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthew's. He loves to lay next to me anytime I sit down and he follows me around the rest if the time. He love to chase toys. He is my spoiled baby and makes sure he continues to be spoiled anytime he doesn't think he's getting enough attention. His case is very complex and the amount of the tests and hospitalization have drained my savings. He is still so young and my funds are now limiting his treatment options.

Tap Out
Tap Out is a 11 year old German Shepherd Dog in Rural Hall , NC, who needs $2,000 for Intervertebral Disc Protrusion.
Rural Hall, NC
In 2013, I lived alone in an RV as a college student. I searched online for a German Shepherd dog after hearing an unknown person trying to break into my RV home during the morning hours. I named my dog Tap Out because his name complements my “Red Belt” “Taekwondo” Martial Arts background. I had Tap Out for 11 years. I also have a cat. On 9/10/2034, I observed that my dog’s hind legs were non-ambulatory. My dog began treatment at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews, NC. My dog has been diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). The veterinarian team informed me that my dog is in need of surgery. Surgery is necessary to help improve his mobility, quality of life, and give him the potential for a full recovery. My dog adore humans. I live in a small town in which rifle shots are fired almost on a daily basis by deer hunters. My dog is afraid of rifle the shots, fireworks, thunder and lightning. I live on a fixed income and had to apply for a loan to cover an unexpected expense of $4,000 in initial veterinarian costs. My dog needs surgery to improve his quality of life. Thanks in advance for your support.

Boots
Boots is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Charlotte, NC, who needs $2,000 for Enterotomy.
Charlotte, NC
Boots was gifted to my daughter by a friend a little over a year ago. She instantly fell in love, and they have been inseparable ever since. Every day is an adventure filled with play, cuddles, and laughter. Their bond is truly special, and Boots has become a cherished member of our family. Boots swallowed a foreign object, which is now lodged in her intestines. She started vomiting, refusing to eat, and has not been her usual playful self. Currently, she is at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews, NC. She will likely need surgery, which could cost $6,000 or more. Boots is special because of her playful and adventurous spirit. She loves chasing a toy mouse on a string, climbing anything in sight, hiding in boxes, and playfully pouncing on us as we walk by. Her bond with my daughter is amazing; they share a deep connection and bring each other so much joy. This situation was very sudden and has placed a significant strain on us. We are seeking any support to help cover this overwhelming bill. Having Boots healthy again would mean the world to us, especially to my daughter, as she means everything to our family.

Punky
Punky is a 12-year-old Basenji Mix in Rock Hill, SC, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy.
ROCK HILL, SC
Punky lives with her mom in SC, after first living in VA. She was a rescue who had five 3 week old puppies when she was found. She was very thin because she was doing her best to keep her pups alive. After her mom saw her online she adopted this sweet girl who was 1 year old. Punky is a lovely girl who likes to prance when she wants attention. She hates to get her paws wet too. It's funny to watch her tiptoe through the grass. She is still a little fearful of men but has come a long way in 11 yrs. When she cannot get the treats out of her treat ball she barks at it to try and get it to work. She likes to do zoomies in the living room where she can circle the coffee table. She knows her left paw from her right. She picks up new things rather quickly. And most of is my constant companion and special girl. I have been a foster mom to other dogs having nothing but love in my heart for animals. Unfortunately she currently has a mast cell tumor on her shoulder. This is her second one. She came through surgery and chemo with flying colors last time. Currently she has to have surgery done by River's Edge Animal Hospital in Rock Hill, SC. Followed by chemo with Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Stallings, SC. The total cost for both is approximately $5,000. Last year I was diagnosed with a genetic heart disorder. The deductible, co-pays, and tests wiped out my hefty cash reserve leaving me in this position. I would do anything to keep her with me for more years so I am swallowing my pride. I am in desperate need for some help.

Aspen
Aspen is a 2-year-old Shih-Poo in Matthews, NC, who needs $1,800 for Liver Disease Testing and Treatment.
Indian Trail, NC
Aspen came into my life when she was 8 weeks old. Friends and family raised money for me to get Aspen as my service animal. I made a promise to aspen when I got her that I would do life with her no matter what came our way. Aspen has always been there for me through sickness. I cannot imagine living life without my best friend. She has saved my life! Aspen is a very loving and social pup. She is well-loved by all who know her. She loves when people give her love and especially loves her tips to her grandmas house. Aspen loves to go on walks and loves to play puzzle games to work for treats. She has her favorite toys that she likes to pick out of her toy basket and bring mom to play with. She cuddles up every night with mom in bed. Aspen is a loyal, spunky, intelligent and very particular "princess". She has an ability to communicate her needs non-verbally that I question if she is a dog sometimes lol. She communicates from tapping her little paws on the ground repeatedly while making grunting noises at me to giving "nose boops". She has a special ability to alert to my PTSD and calm me back down in times of high stress. Aspen was diagnosed with liver disease of unknown causation. Her primary vet at Atrium Animal Hospital has referred her out to be seen by a specialty vet at Carolina Veterinarian Specialists for further testing which will at minimum include an ultrasound with a high possibility for a liver biopsy along with ongoing treatments/supportive care. Time is of the essence. I am on disability myself so I am low-income. I am not able to financially afford further medical care for aspen. I also do not qualify for any other Financial help. She also now does not qualify for pet insurance.

Waddles
Waddles is a 7-year-old American Pitbull Terrier in Indian Trail, NC, who needs $2,000 for Heat Stroke.
Indian Trail, NC
Wadddles was rescued from the CMPD shelter January 2022. I saw her and immediately bonded with her and brought her home. I dont know much about her time before us. But I do know she was overbred for puppies and was not well taken care of. She was massively overweight and did not like men. In the past year and a half, she has changed dramatically from the 1st time I brought her home. Waddles has 2 little adoptive pup sisters and 2 cat cousins. Her favorite person is her human boy. Wads climbs up her stairs to get into bed every day. Most days she prefers to stay in the bed. She's just an old lady who prefers to be wrapped up under the blankets! When Waddles is enjoying her pets, she chomps her mouth like a little gator. She's our little waddie gator. Its the cutest thing I've ever seen. She's also much smaller that her sisters, and they love playing with her, and they let her "get" them and she just gets so excited to play. Waddles was outside playing when she suffered heat stroke. She's been in the ICU at the vet hospital since 7/1. The vets are doing everything they can and have been optimistic about her recovery. We will fight every day until she is better. We have currently maxed out our credit cards, and vet care credits. We are continuing to try to find ways to keep going with her care. We will do whatever it takes. Waddles means the world to me and I can't imagine my life without her in it.

Willow
Willow is a 11-year-old Sphynx in Waxhaw, NC, who needs $2,000 for Ultrasound with Needle Aspiration.
Beulaville, NC
Hi, I'm Willow and I'm having trouble breathing because of a nasty lung mass. I love everyone and am loved by many in return. From the day I was adopted at 9 months old I have filled my family with light even in dark times, of which there have been many lately. I'm especially beloved by my owner and a sweet little 2 year old girl; we have lost 3 friends recently and losing me would be unbearable. Believe it or not, I love going out with my family; I'm a dog in a cat's body. That said I am a great cat ambassador and many non-cat people have met me and decided they actually love cats! I seriously don't know a stranger; I'm the first to greet new visitors and crawl up into their laps for a welcoming cuddle. Aside from cuddling with my humans I still love to run around like a kitten at times! From my human: My Willow is truly a blessing; she is just so smart and so loving and I can't imagine life without her - not yet and not after losing so much so recently. I love walking into a room and seeing that she drug her blanket into the beam of light coming in through the window. I love untucking her little head, giving her a kiss and hearing her loving meep in return. Now she can't breath. Willow started having episodes where she struggled for breath days before Thanksgiving. She immediately went to the vet and subsequently saw some specialists until we finally figured out there was a mass in her lung - this has taken a few months and her breathing is worse. Now she is scheduled for a CT this Thursday. However, now they say they may do surgery which I am not financially ready for. I'm between jobs and blew my savings on vet bills as one after another my pets became sick. I ended up losing 2 of my darlings back to back and the family cat. Then my other dog was diagnosed with a rare and expensive to treat kidney disorder. I am truly tapped out.

Fozzy Bear
Fozzy Bear is an 8-year-old Pomapoo in Catawba, SC, who needs $2,000 for Radiation Therapy.
CATAWBA, SC
I have owned Fozzy since he was a wee puppy. He is a family dog and lives in my house. He brings me such comfort and wonderful companionship. He lives with a female (spayed) Mini Dachshund named Rosalee and they adore each other. They play often and sleep together. Fozzy has been neutered. I just love him so much. Fozzy is an 8 yr old Pomapoo and the love of my life! He has such a big personality and he makes me laugh each and every day. Fozzy is very loving and affectionate. He has several toys but his "special" one is a lamb that squeaks. He brings it to me often times and works hard to make it squeak. When it does, he's so proud, he looks up to make sure I see him! I have a very low income. I am on SSI which is $794 per month. Surgery and consultations have done my savings in. I am saving hard for the radiation therapy. I am so desperate to save my Fozzy. Fozzy was diagnosed with mast cell cancer in early August. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor at Carolina Vet Specialists in Matthews, NC on August 20th. Unfortunately, because of where the tumor is located, clean margins were not gotten and radiation therapy is highly recommended. The cost is $7000-$8500 plus boarding costs as we live out of State. I would be so grateful for any help. Fozzy is a very vocal dog. He play growls often and does the cutest barks! Sometimes he and Rosalee will howl in unison and it's the cutest thing! Fozzy loves belly rubs. He "smiles" each time he gets people food, eggs and cheese are his favorite. He also likes pill pockets, and I am very glad for that as that is how I disguise his medicines.

Thunder
Thunder is a 7-year-old cat in Monroe, NC, who needs $900 for Elevated liver enzymes and icterus.
Monroe, NC
My name is Thunder. I am 7 years old. My birthday is around August 2013. My cat mom left me behind on the concrete parking lot, exposed to the Daytona Beach sunshine. That's when my human dad, Dusty, found me. I was only a couple days old. My eyes weren't open yet. I weighed 0.5 pounds. My odds of survival were slim. But with 24/7 care and a ton of hard work, my parents gave me a chance at life. I have 4 cat siblings. But let's be real, I only like one and his name is Chomper. I am king of the house so I get special privileges. I only like to get brushed by my mom, never by Dusty. I show love and affection to Dusty, but my world revolves around my mom. I sometimes enjoy my belly rubbed, but also only by my mom. I am smart, as I've learned to sit at the dinner table and eat like a human. I started a new full time job 2 weeks ago after leaving a major Charlotte hospital where I was a covid front line worker in the ER and covid units.I was furloughed from 36 to 24 hours in April 2019 and was at 30 when I left. Dusty lost 10% of his hourly pay about a year ago. Thunder's treatment began 10/2019 for chronic elevated liver enzymes and icterus. He's had 8 vet visits, 4 nights in the hospital, 2 abdominal ultrasounds. We were referred to a vet for internal medicine service. We discovered he now has diabetes due to long term steroid use, but that can go into remission. We need an ultrasound guided needle aspiration of his liver/bile to test infectious diseases. Thunder is friendly and affectionate towards new faces. He loves to cuddle under the blankets. When Thunder was just a couple weeks old, he started laying on my pillow, nestled in my hair. To this day, he still lays on my pillow/head as I sleep. Thunder's favorite hang out spot with me is the bathroom. He gets fresh flowing water from the sink/my hands. Thunder loves to rub his face against mine.

He waits by the door when he hears me come home from work, hes always at the door waiting patiently. Hes a protector also and snuggler. Cooper loves to go outside and chase birds, he loves taking walks, he is a snuggler and loves to be by my side. he also loves his treats. He loves to talk, when you ask him a question he trys to answer you, its so adorable. He is the big brother of the other dogs. they look up to him and he shows them the ropes. I am a single mom i work full time to pay the bills, Cooper is a healthy dog and is only 9 yo. He has more years to come and would benefit from having surgery. I cannot imagine being without him, if surgery is all he needs,. Cooper was diagnosed with Oral Melanoma on December 31 2020. It was the size of a golfball at the time of the visit to the vet. The dr. did a chest xray and was negative of spreading, also a biopsy of lymphnodes which turned out ok. it has now gotten bigger ( baseball size ) He doesn't really want to eat or drink. It saddens me greatly to think hes in pain, Cooper is the Man of the house, the other dogs follow him and know that what he says goes, He does not like to go outside in the rain, he doesn't like his paws wet or muddy. Schnauzers have their own personality which makes each one unique. He's pretty laid back and goes with the flow of things. unless hes not up to it.

Alfalfa
Alfalfa — a7eeb6
CHARLOTTE, NC
We have had Alfalfa for 10 years. We got him from a rescue organization when he was just a puppy. He and his fellow litter mates had been rescued from a hording situation. Alfalfa has moved about the country with us multiple times. Now my husband, Alfalfa, and our cat, Keeska, all live happily together in our home in Charlotte, NC. Alfalfa loves to go on walks. He can walk forever, and he's always excited to meet friends, both furry and not, on the trails. At home, he enjoys sleeping away the afternoons and occasionally indulging the cat in a round of playtime. He loves both of his parents, but he's definitely a Daddy's boy. My husband and I have both been unemployed since May and currently have no income coming in. We just want our baby boy to be able to live his life to the fullest. It would be so great for him to go on his walks again and to know that he is living a long and healthy life. Alfalfa was diagnosed with cancer, a soft tissue sarcoma on his hind leg. He had surgery to remove it at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Huntersville, NC. Soon he will start radiation treatment so that it does not regrow. His radiation oncologist is Dr. Kelsey at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews, NC. Alfalfa is the friendliest dog. He loves people, and he will talk to anyone who passes by to make sure he gets their attention. He grew up with cats and has a lot of cat like behaviors. He uses his paws way more than the average dog and he has a tendency to purr when you pet him. Alfalfa hates thunder and fireworks, but he loves carrots and broccoli.
