Jack

Jack is a 11-year-old Yorke/Chihuahua/Pomeranian in Preston, CT, who needs $719 for dental extractions.

Preston, CT

My daughter had been seriously ill and begged for a "tiny" dog. She saved all her Birthday money and asked for puppy related items. July 4th 2010 this 3 month old, 5lb boy changed our lives forever.. Like Clifford the Big Red Dog he grew with all our ❤ to be 18lb. Not so tiny dog. He is my best friend and confident. Always ready to attack with kisses. I call him my Lickopotamus. He quickly became my dog and although he snuggles with my daughter, he stole my heart and follows me everywhere. As a puppy, he would play hide and seek with the kids and run like crazy through the house finding them. His antics always makeme to smile. He loves to play fetch. Typically he gets the ball, runs in the opposite direction of me. I fetch and throw again. We know who's in control. Much to Jack's dismay. Our cocker spaniel Alistair "Al" joined our family 7 years ago. The boys get along mostly with a bit of sibling Rivalry. Jack protects us from TV animals. Barking and jumping. I'm so grateful he saves us from the flat screen beasts. He sleeps in the crook of my arm every night, with covers no mayter the season. Home is wherever he is. Jack requires dental surgery with extractions. Antibiotics helped but infections come back. He is thinner, less active and has a difficult time eating. Dr Cox at Norwichtown Veterinary Hospital is his doctor and she will perform the procedure under general anesthesia. We're confident that he'll feel so much better and be back to his shenanigans in no time. We recently moved, and are living paycheck to paycheck without any buffer. I'm not an extravagant person and not afraid of hard work. It's trying sometimes. Having Jack in my life is the bright spot on the darkest days.

Photo of Nala

Nala

Nala is a 1-year-old Labrador Retriever in Snohomish, WA, who needs $2,000 for Surgery, Enterotomy single.

Snohomish, WA

Our sweet chocolate Lab, Nala, came to us in March 2020. Perfect time to train a puppy with everything shut down due to Covid. She is the sweetest pup ever and she has a 3 year old black lab brother, Gunnar, who adores her. Nala lives in a single family home with myself, my husband and 15 year old daughter. She has an entire acre to run around on. A lab’s dream!! Nala is part of our family. We are a family who allows the dogs on the furniture and lets them sleep with us. Nala is my shadow when I am home. We had a routine every morning when I got up, she got up with me, went into the bathroom while I got ready. We went downstairs while I had my coffee and she waited patiently to lick my empty cup after I finished it. I hope she’ll be back to doing that. Our total bill was $8,666.60. We were able to get care credit for $3,000, we put $2,500 down and the rest we owe is $3196.06. Nala will have to be on seizure medications for a minimum of 6 months, maybe for life. With all the follow up appts. & labs, the cost will soar. Nala chewed up a toy & swallowed a squeaker from the toy. She was vomiting & just felt unwell. I could not get her in to see anyone close by, including her regular vet. I finally got her into Seattle Veterinarian Specialists who performed surgery. After surgery, Nala started having seizures. Dr. Waldrop was one of the treating doctors, as Nala’s condition required her to be in the ICU. Nala fits her name very well. Ever since she was a little puppy, she would hide behind a log in our backyard and jump out and pounce on her brother, Gunnar, just like the lioness from Lion King. Nala also loves to play ball. She’ll play ALL day long if you kept throwing the ball for her. She is unique in that she has a strip on hair on her nose that grows the opposite direction. One of a kind.

Ash

Ash is a 4-year-old Mix in Espanola, NM, who needs $2,000 for Mega-esophagus restriction repair.

Espanola, NM

Ash came to me as a stray. He was skin and bones and looks very unhealthy. I immediately noticed when I tried to feed him everything he ate or drank was vomited right back up. I took him in immediately to my local veterinary and he was diagnosed with a Mega esophagus restriction. At this point I have to feed him many times a day with him standing on his hind legs and keeping his head extended. In the short time that I have had ash he has become a huge part of my daily activities. My emotional service dog tiger who is roughly 9 years old dearly loves him. In between tiger and Ash they are helping me keep my depression and my PTSD in check. It is only me and my babies. Ash deserves a chance to have a life. Whoever his previous owners were were very negligent I am on Social Security disability and try to work two days a week at my local vets. I have severe depression, PTSD, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease. At this point tiger and Ash are keeping me going. When I showed up at my house as a stray he was skin and bones. He would vomit anything he would eat or drink. My local vet referred me to Dr. Robert Gruda in Santa Fe New Mexico to repair the esophagus restriction and to try to give Ash The life he deserves. I have to feed him numerous times a day and I’m willing to do that for the rest of his life. If that’s the case. Ash is my up-and-coming service dog. He will be taking over tigers position. Ash puts a smile on my face every day by just his crazy antics. He will roll over on his back and start barking so somebody will play with him. Even though he is a puppy he is very intelligent and keeps myself and tiger on her toes. He has definitely brought a new dynamic to our family

Photo of Iggy

Iggy

Iggy is a 9-year-old Mini Pinscher mix in Bakersfield , CA, who needs $2,000 for Pancreatitis, enlarged liver.

Bakersfield, CA

Iggy was adopted from the shelter. He came into my life because I was looking for a companion for his sister Sydney a terrier who was having a very difficult time adjusting when being left alone while I went to work each day. Iggy has been a part of my family for 9 years. His sister was adopted from the same shelter 2 years earlier. He has been a loving addition to our family for 9 years. Iggy is a very quite, thoughtful and calm little soul unlike his rambunctious and lively Manchester Terrie mix sister, Sydney. His bark is even calming if you can picture that. He loves walks in the morning and a quiet uneventful day. His most favorite pastime is watching animal planet and watching his sister react to animals on TV as if to say to her, “relax silly they’re on TV not in the house!” I am retired and on a fixed income. Iggy has been hospitalized twice and will continue to need specialized care for the rest of his life. I am constantly budgeting for his ongoing care. Any help to keep Iggy healthy and happy is heart felt and greatly appreciated. December 2020, Iggy was diagnosed with pancreatitis and this year an enlarged liver. He has been hospitalized 2x, needs prescription food, medication support and ongoing medical care. I am a cancer survivor myself and although my fur babies are not trained companion dogs, they give me more love and comfort than I can describe. Iggy and Sydney are life support for me if you will. When Iggy makes eye contact it’s as if he wants to speak to you or tell you a story. He’s actually waiting for words he does understand like, treats, walk, outside, and nighty night. Well, not so much nighty night. While his sister runs away when she hears bath time, Iggy excitedly jumps into the tub and patiently waits for his massage from mommy—bottom teeth protruding with a smile!

Photo of Lucy

Lucy

Lucy is a 10-year-old Staffordshire in Copalis Crossing, WA, who needs $2,000 for vaccine and enzyme/chemo type treatments.

Copalis Crossing, WA

Our sweet girl Lucy chose my son in 2013. We visited PAWS for a dog to foster; yet when these two played together it was an immediate match. The shelter said Lucy hadn't been interested in anyone like she was with her boy. He's away at college right now, so she currently pals around with me. Lucy is a good natured happy Staffy Bull Terrier, we adore her.⁰⁰0 Lucy loves being near her people, hanging out or chasing a ball, or tugging on a stuffie with us. She's the guardian of the kitties, friends with the neighbor's dogs. She staunchly patrols her yard for invading rodents, chickens, and birds. She's an explorer, but frequently checks on us to make sure we're all right. Having gone through a separation, a subsequent divorce, I was left with bills & a downslide in credit score. My son is on scholarship, but I still help with a lot of costs, dad doesn't help with college. Not trying to whine. I hope to find a way to help Lucy. While chasing the neighbor's chicken, Lu stumbled in a small drainage ditch in our backyard. Her left rear leg was injured. I had hoped it was a twist or a sprain but x-rays show she blew out her knee. Cranial cruciate ligament rupture. For her breed, the TPLO (Tibial Plateu Leveling Osteotomy) gives her the best chance and a decent recovery. Lucy is a wonderful companion. She loves to sleep on the bed with you and cuddle into your leg. She wakes up happily wagging her tail while she gives kisses and demands a belly rub!! She will sometimes bring a bone for us to check out before she chews it. The neighbor dog was visiting, Lucy got a bone for him before getting her own, then sat beside him so they could chew together.

Rozz

Rozz is a 7-year-old Mix in Savannah, GA, who needs $1,500 for CCL Repair.

Savannah, GA

Rozz is almost 8 years old, but full of life and life and energy. I adopted Rozz from the animal shelter in Fort Bragg, California in 2016 while I was in town for work. He spent much of his life at the shelter, but that day in August of 2016 he found his forever home with me. Currently, we live in Savannah, GA. Rozz has a 14 year old brother, Ozzy, an American Staffordshire Terrier. Rozz is an everlasting ball of energy. He can never get enough toys and would spend all day running in an open field playing catch. He’s loving, and affectionate and has a strikingly dynamic personality. He want’s to know what everyone is doing at all times...and has to get a back rub from everyone in the process. I’ve spent the past 14 years caring for kidney failure patients; unfortunately it is a labor of love and not of great financial gain. Rozz has so much life in him and I can’t bare to imagine him spending the rest of his time on this earth not able to run, play and be happy. A little over a month ago, while enjoying his favorite pastime (playing catch at the park) Rozz tore his CCL in his left hind leg. He has become sad, depressed and sullen much of the time...He doesn’t understand why he can’t run off leash and do the things he loves anymore. His veterinarian is VCA of Savannah in Savannah, GA When I first got Rozz I was convinced he was mute....he took a while to come out of his shell. Now he is the most vocal dog I have ever experienced....he sometimes sounds like a miniature Chewbacca. He particularly does not like to be woken up before he is ready, he will give you a groan like you’ve never heard before.

Penelope

Penelope is a 7-year-old Pug in Naperville, IL, who needs $2,000 for exploratory abdominal surgery.

Naperville, IL

We purchased Penelope as a puppy from a local breeder. My oldest was turning 10 years old and had wished for a pug for 3 years. Penelope has been the best addition to our family. We LOVE her immensely. Penelope lives with me (a single mom) and my 3 children (17, 13 and 9). She is the queen of the house. Penelope sleeps in bed with her owner...my daughter. They are inseparable and have been together for 7 years. Penelope LOVES to play ball. She will whine at you until you pick up the ball and throw it. This is her favorite activity. She has a huge fenced in backyard and loves to wander and explore. When she is in the house, she is on any human's lap. She loves to cuddle. I am a single mom. The children are with me 24/7/365. We are on a limited income. I have already spent $5,000 on the 2 previous visits (endoscopy and surgery). I would really appreciate help in saving our girlie. She is our world. Penelope had a few small silicone toys in her stomach for about 6 years. We had no clue she swallowed them as a puppy. She exhibited no signs to us/ vets ever. We found them while doing an X-ray. She underwent an endoscopy but that was unsuccessful on February 17th. She underwent exploratory abdominal surgery on February 22nd. She is having another surgery 2/27 due to complications. Penelope is the sweetest dog. Even going in for her 3rd time in 10 days today for her 3rd time being put under anesthesia, she was wagging her tail and licking the vets. She is a lover. She will lay with you when you aren't feeling well. She loves to lick my 17 year old and make sure she is fully clean and groomed.

I recently became disabled. I have only a set income and with covid my immune system wont allow me or my wife to work. My wife takes care of me due to my seizures that have very often. Gronks eye lids are turned inside out. His eye lashes are scratching his eyes and will eventually make him blind. He itches them and cant see the best due to this. Due to his sight he is scared of almost everything. We went through petco in benton arkansas and they gave me a quote which is attached to this. He is a great dane and he is large so with that said it makes him clumsy and with his eyes he also gets scared easy by almost anything. He has a great personality and is such a energetic dog. We laugh because when you look at him he has the duh im right here look and its so cute. He trys so hard to play with the small dog we have and its funny just because he is so gentle with her.

Wichita, KS

Mona was a gift for my kids from their dad, Mona has a biological sister named Luna and brothers names Rocky and Toby that are not biological. My husband new her name before we even brought her home, which makes her unique because when we picked up her sister Luna first, he had one look at her and named her before she was even ours. Mona came into our home April 18, 2018. Mona came into our lives 2 years ago, we first got her sister who’s name is Luna. We felt that once we brought Luna home she was lonely, so a few days later we went and got her sister Mona. Mona was a gift to my kids from their dad. She brightens up everyone’s mood day to day. She’s playful and loving and very well loved by my husband, 5 Children and myself. She loves to sleep with our kids. This is a sudden unexpected major expense that we cannot afford my husband is the only one working I myself am a stay at home mom, we five kids that will greatly be heartbroken if we had to make an alternate decision due to this major expense & would mean a lot to have her I’m looking for help because Mona developed a pancreatic infection which has caused her not to be able to eat or drink she is currently at the Veterinary Emergency and specialty Hospital of Wichita Kansas. She got admitted on January 28, 2021 and is still in there. I spoke with the doctor this morning and apparently she’s having trouble urinating and could possibly have cancer in her bladder. Even though Mona was a gift for the kids I am her favorite person. She makes me happy when she greets me every time I come home, she’s playful with the kids and loves to play in the snow, and is not a big fan of rain. She can sense when somebody is sad and she’ll just give that person all her love and kisses until she puts a smile on their face!
