Carmy, Sydney & Richie

Carmy, Sydney & Richie. Three tiny kittens. One devastating diagnosis.

Fort Worth, TX • Spicy Whiskers Cat Rescue

Three tiny kittens. One devastating diagnosis. A fight none of them deserved. Richie, Carmy, and Sydney—our "Bear" litter—were rescued from a feral cat colony after a kind trapper realized they were far too sick to survive on their own. They were frightened, weak, and desperately needed help. Within days of entering our care, the unimaginable happened. All three kittens tested positive for panleukopenia, one of the deadliest viruses a kitten can face. Panleuk attacks the body's rapidly dividing cells, destroying the immune system and causing severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and sepsis. Even with aggressive hospitalization, survival is never guaranteed. They were immediately admitted to the hospital, where they required around-the-clock intensive care. Every day brought new challenges, and every small improvement was followed by another setback. Despite the incredible efforts of the veterinary team, our sweet Richie lost his battle with panleuk. His tiny body simply couldn't overcome the virus. Heartbroken but determined, we refused to give up on Carmy and Sydney. They continue to fight with everything they have, receiving lifesaving treatments, medications, fluids, nutritional support, and constant monitoring. Their medical bills have grown quickly, but we knew we had to give them every chance at survival. As a foster-based rescue, every dollar we spend comes directly from donations. We never want finances to determine whether a kitten receives lifesaving care. Your support will help cover the cost of their emergency hospitalization and treatment, allowing us to continue saying "yes" to kittens who have nowhere else to turn. Please help us honor Richie's memory by giving Carmy and Sydney the chance he never got. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings them one step closer to recovery. Thank you for believing in these tiny fighters and for standing with Spicy Whiskers Cat Rescue when they need you most.

80 Cats

Rescue Kitties of Hawaii just took in over 80 cats and is in desperate need of your help!

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Rescue Kitties of Hawaii is in the middle of something overwhelming. In just a short period of time, they have taken in over 80 cats —and the calls have not stopped. Kittens are pouring in daily. There is no pause, no break, no extra hands waiting in the wings. It’s just this small, dedicated team saying “yes” again and again because there is no one else. Recently, two newborns were born into the chaos. Fragile and tiny, they are now warm, fed, and safely tucked into an incubator alongside another baby named Garfunkel. Both have latched, are panleuk negative so far, and appear healthy—but they are being carefully monitored and snap tested to be sure. Every new intake carries risk. Every kitten needs quarantine space. And there is no more quarantine space. Supplies are stretched thin. Incubators are full. Formula, medical testing, vaccines, litter, cleaning supplies—it all adds up quickly when you are caring for more than 80 cats at once, with more arriving every single day. The urgency is real. Without support, there is simply no room to take in the next emergency call. We are asking for donations to help Rescue Kitties of Hawaii cover medical testing, vaccinations, neonatal care, quarantine supplies, and the daily cost of keeping this many lives safe. Every dollar helps create space for one more kitten who has nowhere else to go and hopefully, get them healthy enough to be adopted. Right now, they are doing everything humanly possible, and they simply cannot do it without you. Please help them keep saying yes. 6/10/26 Update RKH flew 20 kittens and 4 mom cats from Kona Low Storms out to their amazing rescue partners at SpokAnimal last week for adoption! The rest are still growing (must be 8 weeks) to fly. They have the other 60 in foster on Molokai and almost 50 in their home. They are so cute and some have ringworm. One with a badly ruptured eye had it enucleated when the Big Island Pet Care Clinic came to Molokai for a vet clinic. The other 2 bad-eye kittens are healing well but likely still need enucleations. All the rest went through post-flood extra parasite, flea, and worm treatment. They picked up bacteria, and many had horrific coccidia and Giardia and bacterial gut infections from contaminated water. Gratefully, they have all the proper meds, and they were able to save every single kitten, and they are thriving, The only kittens they could not save were 3 neonates. One was rejected by the mom immediately after birth. They fought to save him, but he had something very wrong and could not pee or poop. He survived a week. 2 more neonates (hours old) were found in flood zones and brought to us too far gone. They were severely emaciated, dehydrated, hypothermic, and hypoglycemic, and even with their best experience and efforts, sadly they never recovered. They are exhausted to say the least, but they got through the hardest part; all the 24/7 bottle feeding of almost every kitten. They only took in kittens 0-4 weeks that could not survive in the wild. Every single one had to be bottle fed. They are extremely grateful to their community for bringing the babies to them and helping any way they could, along with the support from all of you. This has been their greatest challenge yet since they were established on Molokai almost 2 years ago. Their goal is to fly all the storm kittens out for adoption by the end of July as finances allow. The cost PER KITTEN to get them to Oahu, flight vetted, and flown to the mainland is a minimum of $500 each! 6/30/26 Update Thanks to all of you, Rescue Kitties of Hawaii has been able to get more kittens spayed, neutered, eye enucleations, and various medical help, and they will be adopted out by their awesome mainland rescue partners!

Help Ru and Paul Grow Up Strong

Oakland, NJ • Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge

Paul & Ru should be crazy teenage kittens by now, chasing toys, climbing furniture, and getting into harmless trouble. Instead, when they arrived from animal control, they were barely clinging to life. At six months old, they should each weigh about six pounds. Paul & Ru weigh under three each. They are so tiny, so weak, and malnourished that their adult teeth were the only sign of their real age. Their little bodies were fighting severe upper and lower respiratory infections, leaving them exhausted from just trying to breathe. 💔 It’s hard to describe just how filthy they were. Their tails, ears, and feet were coated in thick, black, greasy layers of neglect that came off in chunks. For days, Paul and Ru were too sick to lift their little heads, let alone walk around. They were terrified and unsure of what human touch meant, yet they allowed us to give them the gentle care they desperately needed. They were accepting syringe feeding, a sign they began to trust us. As they stabilize and begin eating on their own, we’re hoping they will be well enough for a soft bath to finally wash away all that they have endured. Beneath the grime and illness, Paul and Ru are emerging as mellow, sweet babies who just want comfort. But they are still fragile as they fight to recover. They are still depending on us and we depend on generous donors like you. With our Medical Fund stretched so thin from emergency medical rescues, Paul and Ru remind us yet again how desperately these cats need us and how vital this fund is to being able to say YES to every animal brought to our door. Your support gives them the warmth, safety, medication, and time they need to grow into the healthy young cats they were meant to be. 3/18/26 Update RBARI is happy to share that these cuties are healing, slowly but surely. Their infections are beginning to clear, and they are putting on some much-needed weight. These adorably sweet kittens are still receiving supportive care as they regain strength. They would love to find them a foster home where Paul & Ru can continue healing together, as foster homes make such a tremendous difference in the recovery of fragile kittens. 6/23/26 Update Thanks to the care and support from all of you, Ru and Paul have fully healed and recovered. They have been adopted, and we are so grateful they get to spend the rest of their days in their forever home together!

Julio Is In Need Of Funding For Emergency Medical Care!

Deltona, FL • Purrfectly Wonky Animal Rescue

Julio came to us just a few weeks ago with his littermates. Julio was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a condition that makes him unsteady on his feet. He wobbles, he tumbles, and he gets right back up again. But recently, something terrifying started happening. Julio began having seizures—two in just one week. Even as his tiny body shakes, he still purrs. It’s nothing short of heartbreaking. This brave boy has a long road ahead. He has a vet appointment soon and a neurology consultation scheduled for the 24th. He’ll need a full workup — bloodwork, advanced testing, and medications to help control the seizures. And that’s just the beginning. We’ve already learned that Julio’s medical mystery runs deeper than we thought. At 12 weeks old, while his siblings are strong and healthy at nearly four pounds, Julio weighs just 1.8. He’s a fraction of their size. His symptoms don’t fully match his CH diagnosis. The seizures, the slow weight gain, the setbacks — they tell us there’s something more going on. We’re waiting anxiously for answers, but Julio doesn’t make it easy to relax. Because this morning, he threw us another curveball—a rectal prolapse, which now requires surgery. So here we are again, rallying for our little miracle kitten. As a small rescue, we simply can’t shoulder these bills alone. Now, we are asking for your support. Every single donation helps us give him the care he desperately needs—every test, every treatment, every chance to live the life he deserves. Please, if you can, donate to help us fund Julio’s urgent medical care. Share his story to spread the word. Julio may be small, but his fight is mighty, and with your help, he won’t face it alone. Thank you! 1/10/26 Update: Help Recoup Cost For Julios Treatment & Ongoing Care As He Continues To Heal Thriving, Healing, and Almost Ready for His Furever Home We are so happy to share some wonderful news about our little miracle kitten, Julio 💙 After everything this tiny warrior has been through—his cerebellar hypoplasia diagnosis, frightening seizures, slow growth, and emergency surgery—Julio is doing so much better. Thanks to the medical care, love, and support. Julio is stable, feeling good, and showing us his resilient spirit every single day. He still wobbles, he still tumbles… and he still pops right back up, purring as loud as ever. His seizures are being managed, he’s gaining strength, and his sweet, playful personality is shining through more and more. The next step for Julio is being neutered, and once he’s healed from that procedure, he will be officially ready for his furever home 🏡 He will need a special adopter who understands his CH and ongoing needs, but he has so much love to give and will make an incredibly rewarding companion. Donations are still appreciated in order to recoup the cost of care Julio received when his future was uncertain. Every donation, every share, and every kind word helped give him this second chance. Julio may be small, but his spirit is mighty — and we cannot wait to see him start the next chapter of his life with the perfect forever family 💙🐾

Harrisburg, PA • Castaway Critters, The James A. Hueholt Memorial Foundation for Animals

Castaway Critters recently rescued three tiny kittens from some of the worst conditions imaginable. They were found living in a crumbling mess of empty beer cases, dirt, and filth—weak, terrified, and barely hanging on to life. These poor babies were emaciated, crawling with fleas (the worst the rescue has ever seen), riddled with worms, and desperately thirsty and hunger. Their little bodies were exhausted from fighting to survive. Thanks to quick action, the kittens are now safe and receiving immediate medications. But their journey to recovery is just beginning. They’ll need ongoing veterinary care to check for hidden medical issues, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and continued treatment to bring them back to full health. These three survivors deserve a chance at a life filled with love, safety, and comfort—not filth and suffering. ✨ Your donation today will help cover their medical care, food, and recovery costs. Every dollar brings them closer to a happy, healthy future. Will you be their lifeline? Update 10/13/25 Opie, Jax, and Clay are finally out of the woods—but their road to full recovery isn’t over just yet. Under the loving care of Castaway Critters, these resilient sweethearts are continuing to heal from intestinal parasites and are slowly regaining their strength. They’ll soon be heading in for their spay/neuter surgeries, followed by important follow-up care to ensure their health stays on track. Once they’re cleared by the vet, they’ll officially begin their search for loving forever homes. Help Winston Overcome His Life-Threatening Condition

Hawthorne, NJ • A Pathway to Hope

At just 10 months old, Winston came to A Pathway to Hope on the brink of euthanasia after being diagnosed with a life-threatening urinary blockage. His owner, unable to manage his care and unknowingly contributing to his condition through improper nutrition, had run out of options. With no other rescue able to take on the financial burden, and despite already facing over $30,000 in recent emergency medical costs, they couldn't say no to sweet Winston. They were his only hope. As a result of never receiving proper cat food or vital nutrients, Winston developed a severe Vitamin C deficiency that led to skeletal damage. His bones were brittle and underdeveloped, and advanced imaging revealed multiple fractures: old breaks in his pelvis and at least one new spinal fracture. These injuries left him unable to posture to urinate, resulting in repeated and untreated urinary tract infections that ultimately caused multiple blockages. It took four hospitals and numerous diagnostics to uncover the full picture. He was transferred to 24-hour hospitalization for a urinary blockage (underlying cause not yet known). After being discharged, his condition rapidly declined, prompting a second emergency visit to the vet. But due to suspected neurological concerns, he was transferred to a specialist; however, he showed no signs of neurological abnormalities. The critical care team performed an ultrasound, revealing cystitis and bladder wall thickening, along with advanced X-rays and additional diagnostics. It was through these images and the expertise of the medical team that the true cause of Winston’s condition was finally uncovered: severe nutritional deficiency and resulting orthopedic trauma. Throughout this ordeal, Winston has been in excruciating pain from his fractured spinal cord and healing pelvis, only to be managed right now with IV pain medication. His initial hospitalization alone carried a cost of over $2,000. The ongoing estimate for Eclipse Specialty Hospital now totals $9,718 before a generous 20% discount. Even as medical costs climbed, they continued advocating for Winston. Their team tracked down his former owner and asked detailed questions that proved crucial in understanding the root of his condition. Today, Winston remains hospitalized on IV pain management and a carefully monitored treatment plan. He is expected to remain in the hospital for at least 48 more hours while his urinary catheter is in place, his pain is stabilized, and he begins eating independently. He’s slowly accepting spoon feeding and Churu treats—small steps on a long road. Despite everything, Winston’s prognosis is hopeful. With proper supplements, balanced nutrition, and 4–6 weeks of crate rest, his fractures are expected to heal and his bones to strengthen. Thanks to a collaborative, multi-hospital effort, the dedication of exceptional medical professionals, and the unwavering commitment of volunteers who refused to give up—along with your support—Winston now has a real chance at life. Winston’s life would have ended not from a lack of medical solutions, but from a lack of resources. Because this amazing rescue said yes—and because of compassionate supporters like you— Winston is still here, fighting for the future he deserves. Will you continue to support him? Update 8/20/25 Winston had his recheck last week, and we have wonderful news! 💙 This brave little survivor is doing SO well. His bloodwork was improved, and his medical team is thrilled with his progress. As he heals, Winston is starting to move more – and his sassy, quirky personality is shining through! He remains on strict crate rest to allow his pelvic and spinal fractures to mend and is receiving supplements to support his recovery. After surviving on nothing but chicken, he’s still picky, but we’re celebrating the small victories! Winston is finally eating cat food, including dry food and being spoon-fed Churu treats like the king he is. 👑

Poseidon Returned Against All Odds—Now Let’s Help Him Heal

kaunakakai, HI • Rescue Kitties of Hawaii

Poseidon was found curled in the grass near a bus stop on the Kāneʻohe Marine base, starving, weak, and too scared to come close. Someone began bringing food, earning his trust over days. When he was finally brought to the vet, the team scanned his microchip and discovered he was one of Rescue Kitties of Hawai‘i’s own, so they immediately stepped in to help Poseidon once again. He was severely dehydrated and dangerously thin, requiring slow refeeding to avoid complications. Covered in fleas and parasites, Poseidon also had a painful mouth infection and severe dental disease. The vet confirmed he needed full-mouth extractions. No one knows how he traveled so far, but his return felt like fate. He had made it back to the rescue that once saved him, and they are committed to helping him again. Now safe in foster care, Poseidon is eating well, gaining weight, and showing his gentle personality. He purrs through treatments and seeks out affection, but his mouth still causes him pain. His dental surgery is scheduled for July 1. After surviving the streets and somehow finding his way back, he deserves comfort, safety, and a second chance that truly lasts. Rescue Kitties of Hawai‘i is covering Poseidon’s care, but support is needed for his upcoming dental surgery and recovery. Help honor his incredible journey and give him the pain-free life he’s been trying so hard to reach. Update 06/25 Poseidon has his dental upcoming in a few days! Rescue Kitties of Hawaii are continuously monitoring him to ensure his pain is kept to a minimum until his procedure. Thank you for your ongoing support as Poseidon prepares for his much needed dental operation! Update 07/01 Poseidon was scheduled for his dental today, but the vet found he’s still congested—even after a month on antibiotics. He now urgently needs to go to the vet to rule out pneumonia. His dental will be rescheduled, but he still desperately needs it too. Please donate now to help cover his emergency care. Poseidon is the sweetest boy—he deserves a healthy, pain-free life.

House Fire Survivor Found After 2 Months—This Miracle Kitty Needs Your Help

Hawthorne, NJ • A Pathway to Hope

After a devastating house fire broke out almost two months ago, this sweet 7-year-old cat named Ivory was presumed dead. She was finally found living alone in the ruins of her former home, severely emaciated, weighing only 5.9 pounds, weak, missing her tail, and fighting on her last leg to stay alive. Her elderly owner hasn’t been seen since, and the apartment was condemned. But miraculously… Ivory survived. She was at a high risk of euthanasia due to her declining health until A Pathway to Hope stepped in. They immediately rushed her to the vet and are getting her the urgent medical care she needs. She’s currently being syringe-fed baby food and churros, and comes to the kennel door seeking attention, head-bunting and purring. She’s too frightened to eat on her own unless someone is with her, offering love, safety, and encouragement. But once she feels comforted, she eats with a strong appetite. She just needs someone to be there to care. A Pathway to Hope and generous donors like you are her only hope. With your support, we can give Ivory the second chance she so deeply deserves. Every donation makes a difference and helps her heal and grow stronger each day. Thank you! 4/30/25 Update: Ivory hasn't been eating well since her rescue, and A Pathway's vet referred her to a specialist. An ultrasound revealed thickening of her GI tract and an enlarged liver and spleen, raising concern for lymphoma. But this is not a death sentence. With your help, we can give Ivory the chance she’s fought so hard to earn. 5/9/25 Update: Following her visit to a specialist, Ivory began treatment for suspected IBD or lymphoma. With your help, she’s responding well to steroids and B12. Her appetite has improved, her strength is returning, and she’s even made a best friend—her special needs foster buddy, Moose. Thank you for giving her the second chance she so deeply deserved.

Help Sparrow & Robin Soar to a Bright Future: Support Their Journey to Healing and Happiness

Fort Lauderdale, FL • Operation Liberation

Operation Liberation received a heart-wrenching request from one of their vet contacts who reached out to them for urgent help. Two sweet, friendly kittens, just under two months old, were brought into the clinic by a client who wanted to euthanize them. The reason? Each kitten had an eye on the brink of rupturing, likely due to untreated infections. This could have been their end, but Operation Liberation couldn’t stand by and let it happen. These precious babies deserve so much more. They immediately stepped in to offer them a chance—a chance for healing, happiness, and a full life ahead. Despite their current condition, these kittens have the kindest souls and are full of life. They’ll each need one eye removed (a procedure called enucleation), we’re confident they will thrive. Kittens recover quickly from this surgery, and after a little time to heal, they’ll be ready for a bright future. At the same time, they will be spayed, ensuring their health and preventing future struggles. Every donation helps us move one step closer to giving them a happy life full of love, adventure, and endless cuddles. Your kindness will give Sparrow and Robin the opportunity to live the life they’ve always deserved. Update 3/20/25: Both of these sweet kittens recently underwent their surgeries to remove one eye and to be spayed. We’re thrilled to report that the surgeries went smoothly, and their recoveries are progressing beautifully! Despite the challenges they’ve faced, Sparrow and Robin have shown nothing but courage and resilience, and they’re doing so well in their healing journey. But that’s not all—these precious kittens even had the chance to meet with a potential adopter! The meeting went wonderfully, and they are now eagerly waiting to see if they’ve found their forever home.

Porsche is a 1 month old Mix-Breed in Oakland, NJ, who needs $2,000 for Surgery and Treatment.

Oakland, NJ • Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge

On one of the coldest days recently, a kitten’s desperate search for warmth nearly cost him his life. Porsche, a tiny fighter, had climbed into the engine of a running car, unaware of the danger. It wasn’t until the driver heard faint meows while driving that Porsche’s plight was discovered. With the help of the Woodcliff Lake police and a mechanic, Porsche was rescued, but not without injury. His tail had suffered an open fracture during the ordeal. The kind woman who found him tried to nurse him back to health at home but soon realized his injuries needed expert care. Heartbroken, she reached out to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Rescue, explaining, “We have done all we could but can’t afford the medical care he needs. We’re devastated, especially during the holidays.” Porsche arrived at RBARI with most of his tail necrotic, which had shockingly fallen off during a cleaning. He underwent surgery to amputate the remaining portion, and this brave little kitten is now recovering beautifully. Despite everything, Porsche’s playful spirit remains intact—he’s back to chasing toys and nibbling on fingers, bringing joy to everyone around him. Porsche’s medical bills are substantial, and he needs your help to cover the cost of his care. Please donate today to help Porsche start 2025 with a second chance at life. And remember, a quick tap on your car’s hood during cold weather could save a kitten's life. Update 1/24: Through his recovery, Porsche has shown incredible strength and resilience. Saving Hope Animal Rescue Omi is a 1-year-old kitty who was part of a feral colony. She was intended to be part of a TNR project, but proved to be very friendly, so she was taken into Saving Hope Animal Rescue. She was with a foster, when they started to notice some lameness in her front left leg around mid-September. Omi has been going downhill ever since, and now is in severe pain and has a chronic fever. She is lethargic and barely wants to eat. She has been back and forth from the vet, receiving multiple x-rays, thorough bloodwork, and antibiotics. She is not responding to any medical treatment, which is breaking our hearts. We are exhausting all options for our sweet Omi. The next step is to aspirate the bone to get a sample of the bacteria in order to find out how to treat her. Her condition is life-threatening and causing too much suffering. The estimate is $2,200 for everything she needs. She will need to stay at the vet for multiple nights for more testing and observation. There is a potential she will need surgery depending on what the testing tells us. Poor Omi deserves answers, and we are determined to give that to her, but Saving Hope needs your help. Our dedicated medical team would not give up on Dewey. We began fluids, antibiotics, heat therapy, and syringe feeding. The good news is he's improving. Dewey is such a cuddly little guy, always waiting at the front of his cage, making biscuits and meowing for attention. We really need your help raising the money for his medical care. Unfortunately, this is not a rare occurrence for the rescue. Mr. Smitten was in a horrific state, his body in absolute shock. He had a huge deep gash on his ear, or what was left of it. Because of how severe the damage was, he will ultimately lose his ear. He was severely dehydrated and had a very high fever, most likely from an infection. It is unknown who or what caused this aggressive injury to Mr. Smitten. What is just amazing though, is that, despite his horrors, once Mr. Smitten had time to decompress, he is an absolute lover. His human family took him to an animal hospital and surrendered him. The staff contacted our Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge team, asking for help. Everyone here at the rescue has no idea how he fell but his poor leg appears to have taken the full impact. Gigi

Gigi is a two-month-old American Polydactyl kitten in Aledo, TX, who needs $1,200 for urgent care.

Aledo, TX • Saving Hope Animal Rescue Fund

Saving Hope Animal Rescue first learned about Gigi from a good Samaritan who came to the kitten's rescue. "A woman was in a warehouse and started hearing tiny mews coming from somewhere," Laura G., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "She tracked them down to a metal trash bin." When the woman looked into the garbage can she couldn't believe her eyes! "A tiny, malnourished kitten was panicking at the bottom of the bin, desperately trying to get out," Laura says. "There was only one other object in the bin, a Styrofoam cup with tiny teeth marks on it from the kitten who was desperately trying to find food since she was starving." The rescuer instantly scooped the kitten up and contacted Saving Hope. Gigi was whisked to an animal hospital where the rescue learned she was skin and bones and had terrible stomach issues. She is severely dehydrated and needs to remain in the hospital for monitoring. "It's unknown how long little Gigi was panicked, alone, and starving in the trash bin," Laura says. "But there is no way a seven-week-old kitten jumped into a three-foot-tall bin alone. Gigi's tragic start to life is heartbreaking, but she has proven resilient, inspiring us all with her strength." And listen to this: That good Samaritan has an encore performance. She will foster Gigi when she is stable enough to leave the animal hospital. What a wonderful gal! In the meantime, Saving Hope could use your help to make this story have a happy ending: Help them pay Gigi's hospital bills. The nonprofit rescue relies on the generosity of animal lovers to keep their lifesaving work going. Please help them restore Gigi's faith in humans and support her on her journey back to being a happy, healthy kitten!

Good Samaritans rallied to help Beignet, and now he needs *your *help! Beignet, a community cat, was discovered wobbling and falling down. His caretaker and several neighbors worked together to save him. When Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue heard about Beignet, they raced him to an animal hospital. He has obstructive hydrocephalus, which means he has fluid on his brain. Beignet needed an MRI and a spinal tap to figure out what's causing the condition. His hospitalization and specialized testing have cost more than $10,000. But the rescue group says it helped them get answers, and they're hopeful he can recover. "He is the best, most loving cat and deserves to live," Savannah S., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "He lights up whenever he sees one of his foster cat siblings. Because the tumor is so large, the cat is having difficulty eating and has no appetite. As soon as Thumper gains more weight and recovers from his respiratory infection, he will be sedated to be groomed, and his veterinarian can remove the tumor. Cake carved out a massive spot in the hearts of her animal rescuers at the Kanoa Rescue Foundation. "They found her down the street and knew we ran an animal rescue. We took her in with open arms." The group adopted her out, but tragically, the adopters returned her to the rescue a month later after she was hit by a car! The nonprofit group is crushed this happened to Cake. They want her to get back to the spunky kitten they fell in love with. "She had a shattered leg with exposed bone," Audrey G., with the rescue group, tells Waggle. "It required immediate amputation, but that wasn't the end of Gingerbread's troubles. She also had a broken pelvis, and the hip bone in her remaining hind leg was dislocated." Gingerbread needed a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery to help fix her hip so she can walk without pain. She required crate rest and an exercise routine. "Gingerbread is one of our special, critical care cases, who never acted feral even though she had been an outdoor cat" Audrey says. "She has been super-friendly the entire time she has been with us. Her caregivers, who love her deeply, know that they had to let her go because they could not keep her indoors, as will be required for her from now on." She will be transferred to an adoption program where she can find a loving indoor home! Please help Gingerbread by funding her medical care after suffering such tragic injuries. Leela sought out help after suffering horrible trauma… Alone, outside in the cold and just 3 pounds, Leela suffered a traumatic head injury, leaving her with a ruptured eye and wounds all over her jaw and head. Too shy to come close, but desperate for help, Leela approached a kind family who offered her food and tried to coax her in. They reached out for rescue help, and together, we were able to trap this critically ill, helpless kitten. Leela’s rescue was a wonderful whirlwind. Two rescues, RBARI and A Pathway to Hope, came together and within hours, Leela was trapped, rushed to the vet and had emergency surgery to remove her infected, ruptured eye before infection could take over her tiny body. Her wounds were treated and stitched. The ongoing concern for Leela is infection, as the wound was deep and covered much of her face. Veterinarians feared she was in the early stages of sepsis. After a blood transfusion and medication, Presley finally stabilized. "We breathed a sigh of relief and hope," Amy says. That's when Truly All Cats Trapping and Rescue members spotted the friendly mama cat and realized what was happening. They raced her to a foster home to have her kittens. "Unfortunately, disaster struck when the first kitten started coming out backward and got stuck in the birth canal," Dawn H., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. Her foster parent rushed Lady to the animal hospital, where she needed an emergency C-section. Tragically, none of her precious babies survived. The sweet girl went back to her foster home to recover. But disaster struck again a week later! Lady started feeling ill, and her sutures opened up, exposing her internal organs. Her foster parent raced her back to the ER, where Lady was dashed to the operating room for another emergency surgery. Lady is now back in her foster home, recuperating again and showing her kind, gentle soul. "You can see how affectionate she is and how starved for love she was living on the streets," Dawn says. "She reaches out her paw to show how much she loves to be pet and doesn't want you to stop." But rescuers at One By One Animal Advocates know that he is one fantastic cat who needs your help! "Chester just showed up at someone's house," Heather A., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "He had no skin or tissue on his foot. We can't even speculate what happened." Somehow Chester must have known or hoped the family inside the home would help him. And he was right! They posted about him on social media. When One By One heard about Chester, the group came to his rescue. They raced him to Proctorville Animal Clinic. Unfortunately, the prognosis for his foot was grim. "The nerves were so damaged. There was no way to close the wound. He needed surgery to amputate his leg. He is already bouncing around after his operation, and we expect him to fully bounce back and be a happy cat ready to find his forever home," Heather says. Despite being in pain, what really amazes Heather is how happy and friendly Chester is. "It just speaks to the resilience of these animals," Heather adds. "I was just sickened to think how he feels and how he suffered. If he struggled to survive, we have to do what we can to help him." Can you help Chester on the next steps of his journey to health?
