Cinco
Cinco is a 1 year old French Bulldog in New Haven, CT, who needs $12,000 for Surgery.
New Haven, CT
"Cinco" was the name chosen by my daughter; he has been with us since he was two months old. He has three other "sisters" (friends) at home: the oldest is nine, and the others are five and one-and-a-half. Each one of them is special to us. He has always been a happy dog; we never imagined something so serious was going on. He didn't show signs of pain, and check-ups indicated he was fine. But then the time came when they discovered a hernia, an issue with one of his testicles, and a liver problem. We were assured that the surgery would resolve everything otherwise I would let him rest. He is being treated at CENTRAL HOSPITAL NORTH HAVEN CT. He brought joy into our lives; he is playful and affectionate. Every day when we leave, he comes to the door to see us off with a little kiss, and while my wife cooks, he stays right by her feet—he is her shadow. He is obsessed with balls of all sizes, and we love him dearly. We are reaching out for help because I am disabled, my wife only works part-time, and we are facing a difficult health crisis. Our other dogs have emergency insurance, but the two little ones only have basic coverage; we never imagined something like this would happen to us.

Oliver
Oliver is a 8 year old American Longhair in New Haven, CT, who needs $6,000 for Diagnosis and Treatment.
New Haven, CT
I’ve had Oliver all of his 8 years of life, he has a brother Tigger that is lost right now with him not being home. He also is a pet to my 3 year old son that is constantly asking where loli is and when is he coming home. He is the light to our home. On Wednesday evening after work, I came home to find Oli struggling to breathe, very tired, and refusing to eat. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment for everything and anything that is curable. The vets are not sure if it’s a viral infection that just has to run its course, and all we can do is hope he makes it through. The uncertainty is overwhelming. He’s been my companion through every heartbreak and hard time, always laying next to me and purring when I needed comfort. He’s been there for me in ways only a pet can, and now it’s my turn to do what I can for him. Vet hospitals, care, and overnight stays are very expensive, and every dollar raised will go directly to Oli and his hospital bills. I don’t usually ask for much help, but anything that is donated would be greatly appreciated from me, my baby Oliver, and the rest of family.

Felix
Help Felix Walk Without Pain Again
Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.
Felix has already survived more than most cats ever should. For years, he lived outdoors in a cat colony, relying on kindness where he could find it. When the colony was threatened and the cats were in danger of being harmed, Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue stepped in — giving Felix safety, stability, and a chance at a life he’d never known before. That’s when everyone realized just how special this senior boy is. Felix is gentle, affectionate, and deeply bonded to other cats. He takes his thyroid medication like a champion, tolerates arthritis treatments with quiet grace, and finds his greatest comfort curled up in a warm pile of feline friends. After everything he endured outside, he finally felt safe. Then, a few weeks ago, something changed. Felix began favoring his back leg. He was rushed to the vet the very next day, where X-rays revealed devastating news: his hip was fully dislocated. This wasn’t arthritis progression — it was a painful injury that will not heal on its own. Felix now urgently needs a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery — a procedure that will relieve his pain and allow him to walk, rest, and move comfortably again. Without it, every step hurts. This surgery is Felix’s chance to enjoy his golden years without suffering. Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue is already caring for many medically complex cats, and the cost of this surgery is overwhelming for a small nonprofit. But after everything Felix has survived — life outdoors, displacement, chronic illness — turning him away is not an option. That’s where you come in. Your donation today will directly fund Felix’s surgery, pain management, and recovery care. You can be the reason this sweet senior gets to walk without pain, nap beside his beloved cat friends, and finally live the peaceful life he has always deserved. Please donate now to help Felix heal. His future depends on it. 12/25/25 Update: Surgery was a success! Felix got his Christmas Miracle on Christmas Eve! His FHO surgery went well and Felix is already walking around better. He has to go back in 4 weeks for a recheck which will determine whether he will need to go to rehab. 1/28/26 Update: UPDATE: Recheck from Felix’s FHO Surgery on Christmas Eve Felix has been on cage rest since his FHO surgery on 12/24. Yesterday, he had his recheck appointment with the surgeon and everything looks great and has now been cleared for normal activity! As he hasn’t really used that leg in months, that leg is weaker than it should be, so Felix will need to go Physical Therapy to start to get some of that muscle back. Today was his first session - he had some laser treatment and we worked on him standing and getting around on different types of services. We’ll keep you posted on his recovery! Thank you for helping him! 2/7/26 Update: Felix continues to heal with Physical Therapy! Felix just finished his 2nd PT appointment and is doing well. The doctors are happy with the progress he has made since last week’s PT appointment. As he didn’t use that leg in a few months, we need to help him get muscle and strength. Back in that leg. Thank you for following his journey! 2/20/26 Update: Felix continues to make progress! Felix is doing so well with his physical therapy which include laser treatment and physical therapy exercises. We are working hard at getting Felix to gain back some muscle that he lost:( Thank you for everyone that has supported him ❤️ 2/28/26 Update Felix has now completed about four physical therapy sessions following his Christmas Eve FHO surgery — and we are so happy to share that he continues to gain strength in his leg. After months of not using that leg prior to surgery, rebuilding muscle has been one of the biggest goals of his recovery. With consistent laser treatments, guided exercises during PT, and a dedicated at-home routine between appointments, Felix is making steady progress. We have a series of exercises we work on with him at home to help strengthen that back leg and improve his balance and flexibility. And it’s paying off. The most exciting update? Felix can now jump up onto the couch on his own! For a senior boy who once took every step in pain, this is huge. Seeing him move more confidently — choosing to climb up next to his favorite people and feline friends — is exactly why this surgery and continued rehab were so important. Felix still has additional therapy sessions ahead, and ongoing rehabilitation is essential to help him regain as much muscle and long-term stability as possible. Physical therapy, follow-up care, and continued monitoring all come with costs that add up quickly for a small rescue caring for medically complex cats. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to support Felix’s continued recovery. Every contribution helps cover his PT sessions, laser treatments, and at-home recovery needs. Because of you, Felix is no longer living in pain — he’s rebuilding strength, confidence, and independence in his golden years. Thank you for standing with this special senior boy. Please donate and share to help us carry him all the way to a full, strong recovery. 3/19/26 Update Felix’s journey has come full circle—and it’s everything we hoped for and more. We are so happy to share that Felix has officially graduated from physical therapy! After months of healing, hard work, and determination, this incredible senior boy is now moving with strength and confidence. The same cat who once lived in pain, unable to properly use his leg, is now jumping on and off the couch like it’s nothing. Watching him move so freely… it’s something we will never take for granted. From surviving life outdoors, to finding safety in rescue, to facing a painful hip injury and major surgery—Felix has overcome every obstacle placed in front of him with quiet resilience and grace. Today, he’s doing exactly what he always deserved to do: resting comfortably, moving without pain, and enjoying life alongside the people and feline friends he loves. This is what your support made possible. Because of you, Felix received his FHO surgery, pain management, and the extensive physical therapy he needed to truly heal—not just survive, but thrive. We are endlessly grateful to everyone who donated, shared, and stood by Felix throughout his journey. As a small rescue caring for senior and medically complex cats, cases like Felix’s come with significant costs—from surgery to months of rehabilitation. If you’re able to make a final donation, it would help us continue providing lifesaving care to cats just like him who are still waiting for their second chance. Felix got his miracle. With your help, we can give that same chance to the next one who needs it.

Rose
Meet Rose: A Brave Little Kitten With a Big Challenge
North Havn, CT • The Purr Project, Inc.
Rose is a sweet 5-month-old kitten that was surrendered to The Purr Project rescue with her mom and 5 siblings. While the rest of her family is healthy, Rose has been diagnosed with a 3/6 heart murmur. She’s already had bloodwork done, but now she needs a cardiac workup, including an echocardiogram, to understand what’s going on with her little heart. This vital care can cost upwards of $2,000—a big expense for this rescue that is dealing with many cases, but one they’re determined to cover so Rose can grow up to be healthy and strong. Despite her condition, Rose is just like any other kitten—curious, playful, and full of life. She deserves the chance to run, play, and live without health fears hanging over her. 🐾 Will you please help Rose get the heart care she needs? Every donation, no matter the size, brings her closer to the happy, healthy future she deserves. Thank you! Update 10/28/25 Rose is scheduled for her echocardiogram next week to ensure her health and safety of her spay. Like her siblings, she's ready to be loved with a family of her own. If you can spare even $5 to help her get the care she needs we'll be very grateful 🌹

Lily & Whitey
Whitey & Lily: A Second Chance at the Golden Years
North Havn, CT • The Purr Project, Inc.
Whitey and Lily are a bonded brother and sister, both 9 years old, and their journey began when a kind family rescued them as tiny kittens, only to place them in another home. Sadly, when they were 4 years old, they were returned. Years later, the original family took them back, but overwhelmed with too many cats, could only keep them confined to a bathroom. Though their hearts were in the right place, Lily and Whitey suffered neglect that left them with serious health issues. Today, they are finally safe with The Purr Project—but they need extensive medical care. Lily has lived her entire life with a chronic eye infection and just underwent an eye enucleation. Despite it all, she runs around like a kitten again, full of love for people. Whitey has severe dental disease, harsh lung sounds, and an enlarged thyroid. He’ll need chest X-rays before his dental surgery, as well as ongoing medical care. Still, he rolls over for belly rubs and purrs with gratitude for every bit of affection. But the cost of their surgeries, X-rays, and treatments is overwhelming for this small rescue. Will you help them give Whitey and Lily the care they desperately need? Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference for this sweet brother-sister duo. Update 9/19/25 Whitey had his x-rays done, and they found he has Asthma and will require medications, including an inhaler. Update 10/14/25 We are saddened to share that Lily has crossed the rainbow bridge after surgeons found an abdominal mass. She will always have a special place in the rescue and her loving foster's heart. However, Whitey is still fighting despite being diagnosed with feline asthma. He is on medications and waiting to have his dental work done. His breathing needs to be stabilized first. Otherwise, he is doing well in foster care. Thank you for your continued support, as the bills for these two are coming at an overwhelming cost. Update 10/28/25 Thanks to generous donors like you, Whitey is scheduled for his dental work next week. Thank you for your continued support! Update 11/26/25 Whitey's dental procedure went great! Please continue to show your support for this sweet boy as his gums heal. We hope he can be put up for adoption soon!

Spay/Neuter Kittie
10 Little Lives, One Big Need
North Havn, CT • The Purr Project, Inc.
Meet Ocho—a brilliantly cute, soft, and playful little boy with a unique “8” marking on his head that earned him his special name. He’s sweet, gentle, and full of love. Anyone would be lucky to have him. But Ocho isn’t alone—he’s one of 10 kittens in The Purr Project's care who all need to be spayed or neutered and have essential vaccinations before they can find their forever homes. These surgeries and vaccines are essential, not only for their health and safety but to prevent more unwanted litters and ensure they have the best start to life possible. Right now, the cost of vetting so many kittens at once is a heavy lift for The Purr Project rescue as they handle many cats at one time. They could desperately use your help. Will you donate today to help Ocho and his nine siblings get the care they need so they can go on to bring joy, love, and companionship to their future families? Thank you for your continued support. Update 10/31/25 Thanks to all the generosity, The Purr Project has been able to spay the three mommas, neuter two of the males, and spay a seven month old.😺

Goody is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Wallingford, CT, who needs $2,000 for CT Scan to Diagnose Tumor and Check for Cancer Spread.
Wallingford, CT
My cats name is Goody. I took Goody to the vet for a cough and it turns out he has a tumor. They don't know if it is cancer but they suspect that it is. In order to treat him they said he needs to have a catscan to see if the tumor is cancer and to see if it has spread. He was seen at Central Hospital for veterinary medicine in North haven, CT on Devine st. He will be treated there. We don't know how long Goody has had this tumor. In order to find out what kind of tumor it is he needs to have catscan that will cost $2,700 at Central Hospital for veterinary medicine in North haven,CT on Devine st. The doctors name is Anna Dunlap. I really don't know how much time Goody has had this tumor, so its important that he gets thus catscan as soon as he can. I am so grateful for any help We adopted Goody from a shelter when he was a year and a half old. He just turned ten in July. My husband brought him home when I was going through a really hard time. He loves to play and cuddle with him very much. Goody means the world to me. He has been here for me in my darkest days. I know he needs this catscan as soon as possible because I don't know how long he has had this tumor. And I would be forever grateful for any donations. I am in need as I have MS and can't work.

Zero
Zero is a 13 year old Mix-Breed in Derby, CT, who needs $2,000 for Orthopedic Surgery.
Derby, CT
Zero is our sweet, loving, attention seeking little doofer. He loves his belly rubs, rubber duckie toys and his sun baths. He gets his youthfulness by hanging out with his younger siblings Yami and Ares. At this point in time our boy has suffered an unfortunate accident, and has shattered his femur bone on his rear right leg. With this injury at the moment he is unable to walk properly, as much as he wants to try. He can stand for a short period of time but only with assistance. He is under pain medications until we can get the adequate care for him at this current time. Zero is all about being the center of attention. Even for what some may call his golden years, he has the youngest heart. He will be right in center in the middle of a family gathering so he can hypnotize everybody to give him bites of their food (LOL). But, of course who would deny his super friendly demeanor with undeniable cuteness and charm. We do all that we can to maintain the needs of our little family. This has just been a very unexpected turn of events that life has thrown at us. With your support we will be able to get our boy on his feet again, so that he can continue his youthful journey.

Gizmo
Gizmo is a 3 year old American Shorthair in Rockfall, CT, who needs $2,000 for Life Saving Treatment after Being Missing for 7 Weeks.
Rockfall, CT
We have had Gizmo since she was about 9 weeks old. Her name is from the movie. She is so sweet, she loves to give kisses before bed and loves her teenage person more than the rest of us. Gizmo is an indoor cat who thought she wanted to see what the outside was all about. Sometime on 4/24 Gizmo got out. She was missing for 7 weeks and when we found her she was near death. She is at Central Hospital ov veterinary Medicine in the ICU, for 3 days now. She needed a blood transfusion and may need another. Gizmo is special because she loves big. She loves all of us in the house, but has one special person, so much so that when we go to the hospital to see her she cries for her when she has to go back to the ICU. She is special. The vet always speak about how sweet and loving she is. Unfortunately the price is up to 8k at the moment and if she needs another transfusion the price will go up. It would mean everything to us to have her well again. For 7 weeks, I never gave up, it was my second job to find her. And finding her was amazing.

Lily
Lily is a 8 year old American Shorthair in North Havn, CT, who needs $2,000 for Eye Enucleation.

Even though she is in pain, she rubs up against you asking to be pet. She has a wonderful purr! We are a nonprofit rescue group in need of financial assistance. We have a number of cats in our care. Lily has had a tough life thus far, is in constant pain. She deserves to have a second chance and to be healthy.

Patches
Patches is a 12 year old Mix-Breed in Brandford, CT, who needs $2,000 for Cat Scan/Biopsy.
Brandford, CT
Patches was rescued from an abusive neglectful home when I was 16 (28 now). Her tail was broken and she was too scared to let anyone near her. I fell in love with her regardless. She came home and my family and I spent years loving her back to happiness. She is so lovable now and loves to play fetch and run around even at 12 years old. She’s so full of life and love. Friday she was bought to the ER vet. It was determined that her right lower jawbone was 2x the size it should be. She is on medication for pain and inflammation now. The next steps are to get a CAT scan and biopsy to determine if it’s cancer or and infection that can be cured. The cost is 3000. I’ve applied for everything possible and no luck. She still has more years here. Help her stay with us. Patches loves to play fetch with her tennis balls and other toys. She loves to zoom around her new larger space. Patches will wait by the door for you to get home sometimes with a toy always with a greeting. She loves to bask in the sun and give cuddles. She actually has her ESA since she has mastered the art of interrupting my panic attacks. I swear I need her more than she needs me some days. We just moved to a new apartment so much more space for her and I can tell she’s so happy. But moving is expensive. I can’t afford my bills and her tests right now. With it being infection or cancer I don’t have time to “save” the money. She needs the tests asap.

Danny
From Healthy Kitten to Critical Condition: Give Danny a Chance to Run Again
Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.
Danny was adopted in January 2025 as a healthy 8 month old kitten. He now has severe neurological issues - cannot run or jump and has to shuffle to get around. He also has to have his bladder expressed. Danny was surrendered to us yesterday and immediately went to our vet - his temperature was only 96° and was having mini seizures! He is now at a 24 hour vet and we are trying to save his life. In the last 24 hours we have done a battery of testing on Danny. His bloodwork and urinalysis was fairly normal. But his neurologic issues are one of the concerns right now - he just started medication for that. The vet is also having a hard time keeping his blood pressure and temperature regulated. Danny’s seizures and tremors have lessened so the seizure medication seems to be helping. Danny is only 10 months old and was a happy and healthy kitten until he started to have neurologic issues. We are doing everything we can to figure out why he suddenly became this way. He has a sibling Daphne that is missing him so much. Our rescue continues to take on cats that have been thrown out, abandoned, abused, and/or left to fend for themselves. Many of the cats we take on need significant medical care. Adoption fees never cover routine veterinary care, so a case like Danny is crippling for us.

Luna
Luna is a 6 year old Rottweiler in Madison , CT, who needs $2,000 for Surgery of Right Leg CCL Tear and Meniscus.
Madison, CT
Our family is a long time lover of Rottweilers. We got Luna in 2018 from a reputable breeder and also adopted a rescue name Loki that was found in dumpster in Puerto Rico. We have always been a two dog family and Luna and Loki are true companions. Our family has always had dogs and we have been lucky enough to have them live to old age. We have two children ages 14 and 12. Luna was diagnosed with bilateral CCL ruptures with meniscal tear in one (same as ACL tear in humans). Luna will need surgery ($6,000) for the right leg as soon as possible to repair the rupture and meniscal tear. She is in pain, even with meds and we use a carrier for her to help her mobility and for stairs (we live in a raised ranch). Luna is an absolute sweetheart. She is big, lovable and always looking for attention from both our family and anyone that comes to our house! She loves to play with our other dog Loki and go on walks with our family. Sara lost her job recently and is looking for a full time position in Marketing. Chris owns an underground dog fence company that has been severely affected by our economy. This is a seasonal business that in the last two years, no savings have been possible.

Valentina
A Heart-Shaped Mark, A Heartfelt Story: Valentina’s Fight for Health and Comfort
Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.
Valentina’s journey has been filled with loss, confusion, and uncertainty. She’s a 12-year-old senior cat who has already faced so much heartache in her life—losing both her owner and her feline companion in just a few short months. Left behind in an empty house with only occasional visits from people to feed her and change her litter box, Valentina’s world became small and lonely. But Valentina’s story isn’t over yet. Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue stepped in when another rescue reached out to them, and were able to bring this sweet senior girl into their care. They named her Valentina because of the beautiful heart-shaped mark on her nose. Valentina was taken to the vet who discovered some troubling signs. Her bloodwork showed that her liver values are off, and she will need an ultrasound to help determine the cause. But the most urgent concern is her eye. Valentina was diagnosed with Glaucoma and Fine Diffuse Iris Melanoma. She has no vision in her left eye and it is extremely painful due to dangerously high eye pressure—64, when it should be under 25. Valentina needs a specialized procedure to address both her eye condition and her liver concerns. The total cost of her care is estimated at $4,000. Please, help us make Valentina’s remaining years filled with comfort and love.

Yuki
Yuki is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Cheshire, CT, who needs $2,000 for Various Treatments for Undiagnosed Illness.
Cheshire, CT
I got Yuki when he was around 3 months old. I moved to a new area that had an issue with feral cats. I began taking care of the feral cats and when I got their trust, they began bringing kittens around me. Yuki was very sick and I nursed him to health before making the decision I would take him in as my own. In November, he will be 3. He has a younger brother who is also a rescue. October 3rd, 2024 I had brought him to the vet. We had moved houses and I assumed Yuki was stressed out from the move. The issue is much more dire than that. We still don’t have an official diagnosis as to what is happening with him but he has triaditis, inflammation of his gastrointestinal tract, pancreas & liver. He has been hospitalized since. Yuki is my baby, he’s so sweet and has such a wonderful personality. He’s very loving, cuddly and overall, he’s an angel on earth. He became an emotional support animal for me to help me with my depression and anxiety. He is exceptionally close with his younger brother although they are from different litters and different parents. We had just moved and all of my money went into this move. We left our tiny 2 bedroom apartment and moved into our first house together. I need to have my baby back home and healthy so he can live out his life. He’s just a baby, he needs this help to save his life.

Chance
Chance is a two-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat Bolton, CT, who needs $2,000 for emergency care.
Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.
* Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue * Chance is one of ten cats Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue saved from a terrible hoarding situation where the animals suffered in deplorable conditions. All the cats were sick, but the nonprofit group noticed Chance was in the worst shape. "Chance started having a difficult time breathing, and we rushed him to the emergency veterinarian where he was admitted and placed in oxygen," Melissa S., with the group, tells Waggle. X-rays showed he had pneumediatinum, where air was found outside his lungs. This is usually from some type of tear. Then Chance stopped eating, so his veterinarian placed a feeding tube in his body. Despite his past, Chance has shown remarkable resilience. He's one of the most affectionate cats you'll ever meet, craving love and attention from people. Chance's emergency bill has already exceeded $7,000, a significant amount for the rescue. Your support is crucial to ensure they can continue their lifesaving work for animals in need. Please give so Chance has his second chance!

Pipsqueak
Pipsqueak is a 8 month old Mix-Breed in Winsted , CT, who needs $2,000 for Exploratory Surgery to Remove Foreign Matter.
Winsted, CT
Pipsqueak was a part of a hoarding case with a homeless man that I assisted him with. He tried his best, but was in a situation himself. There were several adults and kittens in some harsh conditions. Pip has always been the smallest. Most of her siblings were adopted. My fosters live in my home with me until placement. This kitten was special. Intelligent, sweet as honey, gentle & a cuddle bug! I fist took Pip to my vet for bloodwork and fluids/meds. Nothing came back. He thought it was FIP. I started black market meds immediately to try and save her. No changes. I then took her to a specialty vet (Central Hospital for Vet Medicine in N. Haven, CT). They immediately saw a partial obstruction in her intestines. She was operated on the following morning. This little kitty struggled being the smallest and sickest from the beginning with upper respiratory infections and calici, anemia, dehydration, parasites. She has persevered through some difficult times and still is the sweetest, loving little soul. She knows that she is loved and I will foster fail with her. She has found her forever home. I am a typical rescuer. I've been involved with rescuing animals in some capacity for over 20 years. The tiny rescue I am a part of does not have the funding to assist with any of the extras or specialty vets. All out of my money. I support myself with my sole income.

Luna
Luna is a 4 year old American Longhair in Ansonia , CT, who needs $1,781 for Bladder Stone Surgery.
Ansonia, CT
Luna is a rescue cat I saved 4 years ago. She is a tortie. Luna was given to me by a homeless teen who I later also took in and fostered. She is the sweetest cat and she ended up becoming like a mother to another cat we adopted. Luna is the only girl in a household of boys as I’m a single parent. She adds light and sweetness to our family. About a month ago, Luna started changing her habits and was no longer cleaning herself and eventually stopped eating. She had a severe urinary tract infection and a large bladder stone that was making her feel very ill and lose her appetite. She has been treated by Dr. Schpero at Vetrinary Associates of Derby, LLC and at CHFVM animal hospital in North Haven, CT Luna has been an emotional support animal to my foster child who rescued her until they both ended up homeless. I eventually took him and Luna into my home. Luna is like the mom of my household. She nurtures us with her purrs and softness and provides us with much needed comic relief. Luna also acts as a mom to a kitten we rescued. She is the sweetest cat I’ve ever cared for. As a single parent, I have struggled financially for many years, trying to make ends meet to care for my foster child. My home has gone into foreclosure and my utilities are often shut off each month. Luna provides us with comfort and she is an integral part of our family.

Ariel
Ariel is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Bolton, CT, who needs $2,000 for Pleural Effusion and Pneumonia.
Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.
Ariel is one of 10 cats we took into our rescue from a very sad hoarding situation. All these cats have had off/on Upper Respiratory Infections and eye discharge since they came into our care back in June of 2023. We noticed that Ariel wasn’t feeling well and separated her to better monitor her. We also found out that Ariel was pregnant. She gave birth to 3 kittens. Ariel's breathing became heavier than we would like and we rushed her to Central Emergency Vet. She had bloodwork and x-rays done, which showed she had pleural effusion and pneumonia. The bloodwork showed some elevated markers which indicate a strong possibility of FIP as well as a very rare bacteria not usually found in cats. Ariel needed to be placed into oxygen for a few days to help her. All the cats that came from this very sad hoarding situation have had a rough start to their lives and never received any vet care until we took them in. They all deserve a chance at finding a forever home where they will gat all the love and attention (and medical care) they deserve. Since Ariel came into our care on May 23, 2023, we have spent $9,554 on medical care for her. We also spent another $8,874 on one of her housemates that came from the same hoarding situation that also needed extensive medical care. We are drowning in medical bills.

Onyx
Onyx is a 4-year-old Shih Tzu Mix in New Haven, CT, who needs $934 for Wound Clip and Clean, Sedation, Medications, Anesthesia, and Oxygen.
New Haven, CT
Onyx joined our family, (2 teens) a few months after my mom passed away four years ago. A good friend of mine purchased him for me as a companion and support. I chose the name Onyx because that was the name I gave to a friend's dog in college who I adored and because he is black and white. Onyx is calculating, quarky, picky and goofy. He loves people watching outside but wary when people are in the home. He loves watching tv. If he hears the Game of Thrones intro, he will run to the TV. He has his own space and gone through countless beds, which he has either torn up or relieved himself on. We are now down to him sleeping on one of my blankets wherever I fall asleep. Onyx is not interested in most toys and treats but loves a purple toy can and one kind of Pedigree treat. At any given time, you will catch him staring at me which is word when I wake up in the middle of the night. Makes my daughter jealous. When he does not get his way, he does this grunting/mubbling thing. He goes crazy when a plastic bag is blowing outside and will wiz on one if in house. Onyx gas a huge cut on his leg that needs attention but I can not pay for the cost right now. He still is happy. He has been seen by Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine in Hamden, CT. They were extremely helpful. Onyx shouldnt have to suffer because I do can't afford care right now. Our home is in jeopardy with many expenditures associated. My car was repossessed and I paid more than I had to get it back which I need to attend my work visits. It's hard for gas.

Tony Soprano
Tony Soprano is a 4-month-old Maltipoo in Portland, CT, who needs $2,000 for Left Cancaneal Fracture.
Portland, CT
Tony came into our lives after our previous dog passed away. We have had Tony for 1.5 months. He was adopted from a family that were eager to give him away. Tony loves to go on walks. He is super friendly and very social. He loves riding in the car to run errands and he also loves to cuddle in bed at night. He has so many toys that he loves. He especially loves playing with Beary Manilow his toy bear. He is always so happy and ready to play. His favorite spot to sit is on the back of the couch so that he can look out the picture window. Tragedy struck Tony when he sustained a left cancaneal fracture. We immediately brought him to our veterinarian for treatment. I am a single mother with 2 children in college. We are trying to pay off student loans and this surgery is close to $7000. We just simply don't have that kind of money.

He is well cared for and loved by all the volunteers who take care of the dogs at the rescue. Gordito gets along and is lovable with all of his rescue family. He gets along with other dogs and is gentle and loving to his human caregivers. He loves to play ball and him and his sister can play all day. They are just full of energy! Gordito’s loving nature makes him so special. He is easy going loves to play, sleep and eat like puppies love to do. You couldn’t ask for a better companion. Poor Gordito was diagnosed with Leptospirosis which made him so sick and can be deadly. He needed to stay at the hospital for veterinary medicine getting around the clock care until he was finally out of the woods. The rescue is a non profit organization that relies on 100% donations. Blue
Blue is a 11-year-old Shih Tzu in Wallingford, CT, who needs $2,000 for Liver Tumor Removal.
Wallingford, CT
Blue came into my life when I was just 12 years old and we have been inseparable since. He is my best friend, and I was living out of state for 2 years but I put so much money in every few months just to come visit him. He was always there for me through the hardest moments of my life, when I felt like I had no one else. Genuinely, he is the reason I am still alive today. Blue is a little grumpy guy, but he is so loveable. He will always roll over for pets, bark when he wants to play, and will always sit right next to you when he wants company. He isn't much of a lap dog, but he loves for you to lay your head on him like he is your pillow. He loves squeaky toys and will squeak them until they can't squeak anymore. He is genuinely so funny. He runs in circles and barks for everything and anything. He snorts like a little pig. He growls but wags his tail at the same time, so he isn't angry, that's just how he talks to you. He will sniff you as a kiss, and he likes to have conversations back and forth with you. He has a teddy bear he has slept with every night since he was a puppy. Blue's situation was a sudden emergency on the 11th of December, 2022. He suddenly yelped and passed out, and I got the phone call immediately and dropped everything to fly back home. He either had a seizure or passed out from pain. At the hospital, they found he had fluid in his abdomen, and a tumor on his liver. They recommend surgery. My parents can hardly pay their rent and they used their rent money for the month to pay for the emergency vet bill. My job does not pay much either, but I dropped every single dime I had to be able to be by his side. My boy needs to live a full, comfortable life.

Boomer
Boomer is a 8-year-old Beagle in Cheshire, CT, who needs $1,400 for Kidney Infection Treatment.
Cheshire, CT
Boomer is a rescue beagle who blessed my life four years ago. He was found roaming the streets. My friend and I tried to find his owners but no one ever came forward. He has been with me ever since. Poor boy had such bad ear and skin infections. He was my first furbaby and now is the oldest of a pack of five rescues. Four beagles and one chow chow. Boomer is the bestest boy ever. He loves his treats and belly rubs. He doesn’t like being with him humans and enjoys coming on car rides. He is a total love bug. He is lazy boy, unless it’s time for a walk and then his nose will carry him for hours. He insists on having a treat as soon as he wakes up and will remind you if you are slightly late for his meal. Boomer is a licker, he loves to lick things from his bed to the floor to my face lol. He has also perfected herding the pack to the kitchen to beg for treats. Whenever a dog walks by he runs to the front of the fenced in yard and gets the whole pack to start a cacophony of howling which the neighbors thankfully don’t mind. He is truly the best. Boomer has a severe kidney infection. Last night I discovered him disoriented and in agony. I knew something was wrong so I took him immediately to the vet. They immediately noticed blood in his urine and could tell his pain was severe. Thankfully he is responding well to treatments. They also believe this is what is causing his other ailments this past month. I’m a single mom on a fixed income. Boomer has had a rough month and to see him back to his normal self would be everything. It kills me to see him uncomfortable. My furbabies are my life.

Jagger
Jagger is a four-month-old Golden Retriever in CT, who needs $4,000 for emergency care.
New haven, CT
Jagger is one sick puppy who needs your help! Puppies chew everything! Literally, everything is "game" when they're four months old. They can tear apart and gobble down the strangest items in seconds with their razor-like puppy teeth. But when poor Jagger ate a toy, it spiraled into some catastrophic health problems. "Jagger started vomiting," Edgar A., Jagger's human dad, tells Waggle. "We took him tothe vet for emergency care." That's where X-rays confirmed he ate part of a toy. Everyone hoped it would pass through his system, but the next day Jagger took a turn for the worse and needed urgent surgery. Once Jagger's operation started, the medical team discovered the pup had a congenital issue called a diaphragmatic hernia, which resulted in a hole in his diaphragm. Jagger also had a perforated stomach which caused its contents to leak into his chest, leading to a massive infection. The surgeon repaired Jagger's hernia and abdomen, but the pup is so sick from the infection he has been hospitalized for a week with chest tubes to help him heal. Jagger's hospital bill is now more than $12,000, and his family is struggling to pay it. "Our family has raised $3500 to put down as a deposit to save our sweet puppy," Edgar says. "This is a huge financial hardship for our young family, and we would appreciate any help." Edgar says they are devastated and love Jagger, who they recently adopted, so much. "He loves to play with his toys, and he is very active," Edgar says. "He is a happy, silly young pup who loves our toddler. We could not think of having to give him up and separate them because of financial concerns. He is an important member of our family already!" Jagger loves everyone he meets! He has won the hearts of every staff member at the vet office. Even while weak and sick, fighting for his life, he manages to tip his little tail. While struggling to breathe, he will give a tiny lick to the nurses' faces. "He is such a fighter through everything," Edgar says. "He is not willing to give up, neither are we." Please help Jagger fight for his life and get home to his family!

Jagger

Jack
Jack is a 3-year-old Cairn Terrier Mix in Groton, CT, who needs $1,500 for balloon valvuloplasty.
Groton, CT
We lost our previous dog Finn after Thanksgiving 2020. He had been sick and we took him to our vet Friday for vomiting. Finn died that night, and we were heart broken. And after a few months we started looking for a new dog to rescue. We started looking in January and finally found a few candidates in April, and we met Jack at a rescue in May 2021. Jack was very quiet when he first came home with us. We think he was very scared and stressed. He has opened up a lot, and enjoys our company, and frequently visits with Kasey's mother and grandmother. He is very affectionate, and will often wait until Cliff comes home to go to bed. He spends a lot of time with Kasey, in her lap, comforting her after cancer treatments. Kasey suffered a severe back injury 4 years a go and was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 3 years ago. She had surgery and has been receiving chemo every 2 weeks since. She has been disabled since her cancer surgery, due to her cancer. We are looking for help to pay for heart surgery for Jack. He has a grade 5/6 heart murmur, and needs a balloon valvuloplasty. His listing had a heart murmur listed, but not the severity. We only found out about the severity after we took him to a vet after we brought him home. Our vet cardiologist is at Central Hospital for Vet Med in North Branford, CT. The vet cardio is Dr Eric de Madron. Jack his very quiet, but very observant. He likes to spend time looking out our windows and watching the world. He was very timid and scared when he came into our home, but now he is a grinning, happy, friendly dog. He still doesn't know how to play with other dogs or toys yet, but we are teaching him basic commands.

Patch
Patch is a Jack Russell puppy in Niantic, CT, who needs $2,000 for Surgery for PDA.
Niantic, CT
Patch came into our life September 2020. He was born with a heart problem. We believed it was just a heart murmur. At his second appointment we found out that the heart murmur was getting worse. We then made a cardiologist appointment for him and found out that Patch has PDA. Also known as Patent ductus arteriosus. Patch loves to cuddle and get kisses. He is an animated little guy. When he is excited about something, he starts hopping like a bunny. Sometimes he stands up straight on his back two legs, and hops to beg for treats. He has a big sister named Pumpkin. They are full brother and sister. Pumpkin loves Patch so much. I often find her kissing him on the cheek. She is letting him know he will be okay. This surgery was unexpected. We love Patch and cannot imagine life with out him. His big sister loves him too. Whats a Pumpkin without her Patch? This means the world to our family! His surgery costs a lot of money in such a short time. PLEASE HELP! TY! Patch has PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus). His un-oxygenated blood and oxygenated blood are mixing in his heart. He is currently 6 months old and only has about 6 months left to live. Patch will be having his surgery by Eric De Madron at Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine. He will have a double umbrella put into his heart. Once he has this surgery his doctor said he will live a full life! Patch always cheers our family up. He loves to share which really makes me laugh. He will run up to you with his treat and try to stick it in your mouth. He just wants to share! What a sweet heart! He also loves to show off his tricks that he has learned. SIT, PAW, LAY DOWN, UP, SPEAK, and WAIT. He is a really good boy.

Nila Bean
Nila Bean is an 8-year-old Chihuahua in Branford, CT, who needs $2,000 for a tumor removal.
Branford, CT
Nila has been my fur-child since she was about 10 weeks old. I picked her up from a local pet store on the 4th of July, even though the store was closed. Since I have met her, she has been my entire world. She lives with me and my mother in a condo since I moved back home a few years ago to help with my father who was diagnosed with gastric cancer, before that Nila and I lived in an apartment. She is the princess of the house, she used to have a housemate Chi, the Pompom (my moms dog), that passed away of old age, that was her best buddy. She is the most affectionate and humanized dog you could ever meet. When you think of a baby, that is how my pup is- my fur-ever-child. She can pick-up on moods especially when you're sad- be prepared for a Nila hug and cuddles. My mom is on full disability and I am the only one working in the house, I picked up a second job to help with her vet bills but this surgery is beyond what I could ever afford. It would mean everything if I could have more time with my girl, beyond what words can express. She has been diagnosed with a malignant Lymphoid Carcinoma Tumor on her neck, she had a fine needle biopsy with guided ultrasound since it's so close to her trachea. Specialized surgery is needed due to it's location and we have had x-ray's done and it has NOT spread. I could list a million reasons why she is special but the main reason is she made me realize that you can love something, someone, more than you love yourself. You would go above and beyond to make sure they are safe and healthy. She is quirky and brings so many smiles, she does zoomies, "trust falls" when she lays on your lap and sits on my head and shoulder like a parrot when on the bed or couch.

Luna
Luna is a 7-year-old Poodle mix in East Haven, CT, who needs $5,000 for burn treatments.
East Haven, CT
The loss Kasey M. and her family experienced are unfathomable. It all started when her husband, Robert, a firefighter, got a department emergency alert on his phone. He was shocked to see the address of their home flash across his screen. "He called me and said, 'You need to get home. Our house is on fire!'' Kasey tells Waggle. She knew all their kids were out of the house but was worried sick about their animals. When she got to her street, fire engines blocked the road, she couldn’t get through. She pulled her car over, threw it into park, and started running toward her house. "I could smell the burning plastic, and I could tell it was really bad," Kasey says. "A volunteer firefighter jumped in the car with the dog warden and kept the oxygen on her, while the police gave them an escort to Central Animal Hospital," Kasey adds. She was devastated to learn seven of her pets, two dogs, four cats, and one rabbit were killed in the fire. "The animals were all in the backyard under a tarp. I couldn't bring myself to go back there," Kasey says. The only one to survive was Luna, an adorable Poodle mix, who was already on her way to the emergency room. The fire was out, but the scene was chaotic and surreal. Rescue crews told her they pulled all eight of her pets out of the house and tried to save them. "The firefighters worked on all the animals in my backyard and tried to resuscitate them," Kasey said. "There were more firefighters trying to work on my animals than in my house.”

Tasz Aponte
Tasz is a 5-year-old Pomeranian/Poodle mix in New Haven, CT, who needs $3,400 for an emergency leg amputation.
New Haven, CT
Tasz's story is heartbreaking. He's in desperate need of immediate surgery and really needs your help. The adorable Pom-Poodle (Pomeranian and Poodle mix) was the victim of a hit and run on a busy street near his home. Tasz's family immediately raced him to the animal hospital and got horrible news. "The veterinarians diagnosed him with a fractured leg, dislocated tail and severe bruising," Selinnet V., his human mom, tells Waggle. "There is no internal bleeding, but the most economical option is to amputate his front left leg. Tasz has not had any major surgeries in his lifetime. He is a healthy dog that goes for his yearly checkups." Tasz has an entire household who adores him. "I live with Tasz, my mom, my three siblings, my three-month-old niece, and my sister's 10-year-old Pomeranian, Munchkin," Selinnet tells us. "Tasz is their dog as much as he is mine." All Selinnet wants is for Tasz to be home and healthy again. Dr. Donna Lee Taylor, a board certified surgeon at Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine, is treating Tasz. He's got a long road to a full recovery, but with the surgery and his loving, dedicated family helping him through, his prognosis is bright. Selinnet says she's struggling to pay for Tasz's surgery and care because, like so many people right now, she's financially strapped. The pandemic affected her job. "Due to COVID-19 shutdowns, my hours have been cut at work," she adds. "It would mean the world to have him with us. He was a happy dog."

Maci
Maci is a 1-year-old Goldendoodle in Trumbull, CT, who needs $2,000 for surgery and hospitalization for an intestinal blockage.
Trumbull, CT
Maci is an incredible member of our family, and already in her young life has helped us through more hard times than we will ever be able to thank her for. We adopted her from 8 weeks old and she has been with myself, wife and or teenage son for every minute of her life. She comforts and entertains us any moment of any day with an uncanny sense to react appropriately to whatever is happening in her family - sadness, joy, rest, exuberance. She has that incredible, patient and caring temperament that we want to take credit for - but she came to us with her own unique personality that extends past our family and can be felt by anyone in her presence. Each and every day she comes with us to a local dog park where she is welcomed by every dog - anxious, large, loud, tired, overly excited - every type. She lives to play with other dogs and can't stand to not introduce herself to each and every one she meets. Amazingly, she adjusts her play (or not p;lay) based on the personality of the dog she meets - if its a shy puppy, she lies down and pokes it with her nose until it warms up. Large dog that wants something to chase? She'll give that dog a ball and something (very fast!) to chase. Beyond our family, she's kind and gentle to every stranger she meets - even the small children.

Yuri
Yuri is fetching, 1-year-old, Siberian husky puppy in Connecticut, who needs $1,500 for cataract surgery.
North Haven, CT
Our boy Yuri was diagnosed with mature cataracts on both eyes when he was only 10 months old. The vet believes he was born with cataracts. When contacting the reputable breeder about Yuri's situation we were told "stop wasting your money with veterinarians, they are hungry for money" and "return him and I will give you a replacement, but if he is that bad we are going to euthanase him soon". There's no replacement for Yuri. He has changed our life and we love him. My fiance and I have decided to hold over plans as getting marriahe and buying our first house to take care of our boy. We are going to spend every penny and time necessary to give him a good life.
