Enzo
Enzo is a 9 year old American Shorthair in San Francisco, CA, who needs $10,000 for Chemotherapy, Radiation, MRI, CT Scans.
San Francisco, CA
My life was turned upside down this year. It started off with a simple cold which spiraled into him being diagnosed with t cell lymphoma in his nose. He is now having urinary incontinence, peeing and pooping on himself with no control and unable to walk. I cannot afford his chemo and radiation treatments and got quoted 10k just for the imaging. He is my life and losing him would ruin me. We were seeing vetsinvans which is for low income individuals and now had to transfer to UC Davis small animal teaching hospital because that is where we were referred to for oncology. His t cell lymphoma has changed the trajectory of his life, he was a happy and precious boy who would befriend anyone who stepped in our home and now he lives in pain and discomfort because of his cancer. Enzo loves people, his favorite activity is cuddling and being held to sleep. He’s also a foodie and loves to eat his sister’s food. He has made dog lovers turn into cat lovers because of his loving mannerisms. He understands when someone is sad and will comfort them. I recently got laid off and the expensive costs of chemo and radiation have become impossible and I cannot live knowing that I didn’t try everything I can to get him the care he needs.

Mickey D
🐾 MY SECOND CHANCE ISN'T OVER YET... ❤️
Lafayette, CA • Hugs For Harry
Hi everyone... it's me, Mickey D. About a month ago, I underwent one of the biggest surgeries of my life. The wonderful doctors at UC Davis removed 19 diseased teeth that had been causing me unimaginable pain. For years, every bite, every chew, every meal must have hurt. I just lived with it because I didn't know any other way. The good news is... my gums have healed beautifully. My veterinary team says I'm finally ready for the next step. This Thursday, I'll return to UC Davis for what they hope will be the final surgery to stabilize and rebuild my jaw. After new imaging—including an ultrasound and Cone Beam CT scan—they plan to implant a special bridge designed to help regrow the bone and stabilize my fractured jaw. If all goes as planned, my jaw can heal properly, and I'll finally have the chance to eat, play, and live without the pain I've carried for so long. But there's one problem. The surgery will cost approximately $5,800, and we're running out of time. Hugs For Harry has never turned away from dogs like me, even when the medical bills seemed impossible. They said "yes" when I needed them most. My surgeries are not cosmetic - they are life saving. Now they're asking for your help so they can say "yes" one last time and see it through. Every donation—whether it's $10, $25, $100, or more —brings me one step closer to the surgery that could change the rest of my life. I didn't choose to live with a fractured jaw and years of untreated dental disease. But because of you... I may finally get the chance to heal. Thank you for believing that dogs like me are worth saving. With love, ❤️ Mickey D \# Help Mickey D Heal 🐾 Goal: $5,800 📅 Surgery: This Thursday, July 23, 2026 at UC Davis Veterinary Learning Hospital 💙 Every donation, every share, and every prayer helps.

Lil' Bowski
Lil' Bowski is a 4 year old French Bulldog in San Jose, CA, who needs $25,000 for Hospitalization on Mechanical Ventilator and MRI.
San Jose, CA
Our beloved French Bulldog, Lil Bowski was gifted to us as a puppy for Christmas. He is my emotional support companion, our everything. He is playful, silly, stubborn and resilient. He's full of personality, a little gremlin who loves treats and food, and will be 5 in October. He's named after the movie 'Lebowski' because we both love bowling. He's aka Lil' Bowski, Lil B, and Bubbas Lil Bowski had a large mass in his brain & recently underwent a successful brain surgery, but soon after, complication arise. His lung became obstructed, he started regurgitating, & could not come off sedation. He stopped breathing on his own & is now on a mechanical ventilator. He has been in the hospital at UC Davis Veterinary Medical School for over a week & continues to receive critical care Lil' Bowski is a gremlin and loves treats & food. Although he is stubborn, he will do anything for a treat. He loves getting scratches when I get home from work & will greet us at the door. He will bring us his favorite toy but will not play fetch. He has an extremely strong mouth grip & does not let go. He can also destroy a toy & take out all of the stuffing in seconds. His zoomies are wild! Medical bills have soared from $18,000 to an estimated $64,300 - $78,800. We have already paid $31000 & exhausted our bank accounts, savings, credit cards, and loans. Lil Bowski means the world to us and we will fight and stay committed to his care no matter what

Koa
Koa is a 11 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in San Lorenzo, CA, who needs $8,000 for CHOP Chemotherapy Protocol.
San Lorenzo, CA
Out of all his littermates, we locked eyes, connected & I said, “He’s the one.” A core memory: as a puppy, he jumped from a pet store cart to explore. That bold spirit is why I chose his Hawaiian name, Koa, meaning warrior, brave, bold, & fearless. Yet, my 11-year-old Pit Bull mix is incredibly sweet & gentle at home and with everyone else. He's been my silent healer through all my ups and downs. After discovering a drop in energy & appetite & lumps under his jaw, Koa was diagnosed with Stage IVb Multicentric Lymphoma at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. My warrior is now in the fight of his life, starting his CHOP chemotherapy protocol and he's already responding well to his first treatment. With faith & determination, we'll do whatever it takes to continue to improve his quality of life. Silly, curious, & adventurous, Koa loves the outdoors, tug-o-war, & open window car rides. He’s incredibly friendly, greeting neighbors, dogs, and ecstatic when my sisters & his dog-cousin visit! Off-leash, he always looks back for me. My loyal shadow, he gently takes treats, loves chest rubs, lounges with dad, & keeps us warm in winter. Koa loves everyone & is deeply loved by everyone he meets. Between supporting my parents & an insurance waiting period diagnosis, Koa's $10k medical bills exceed my savings. We were awarded a $2k Compassionate Care Fund grant, but still need help! He is the heart of our home; seeing my warrior full of life means everything to us.

Lotus
Lotus is a 4 year old Doberman Pinscher in Fremont, CA, who needs $10,000 for Broken Arm Surgery.
Fremont, CA
I am Lotus and I am a 4 year old Doberman. I live with my mom at her house and I have two other step siblings (Gizmo and Beep). I broke my arm from a car that hit me when I was running back to my mom across the street. I was being naughty and I chased a cat across the street from our house. I was coming back to my mom and this car that speeding down the street hit me. I need surgery to fix my arm. Lotus is currently in a cast. The impact from the speeding car broke her arm about the wrist. She has been given medication and has to have frequent wraps. I need to keep taking her from where I live to the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. Lotus weights 105lbs and the front arm was broken. The surgery will cost between 8–10k including follow up appts. Amputation is the last resort due to her size. I rescued Lotus and her buddy from an abusive environment. My plan was to rehome them both but I fell in love with her. I could feel like she needed my help when I first saw her and she stood up to lean against my leg. I was able to rehome her dog buddy and I kept her (wasn’t the plan). Now she’s my best friend. She understands me when I’m down and she loves me unconditionally. She’s love me. ❤️ I didn’t expect this to happen. I was so heartbroken and still am that she was hit and that I don’t have the means to get her arm back to normal. I work full time, yet living in the Bay Area is tough. I have given whatever I have towards the her needs and it’s not enough.

Gracie
Gracie is a 4 year old Ragamuffin in Elk Grove, CA, who needs $15,000 for Thoracic Duct Ligation.
Elk Grove, CA
Gracie was adopted from the animal shelter in 2021. I actually went to the shelter to look at a cat for my mom. My mom didn't end up adopting one, but I found the perfect little girl. She is currently living with one other cat. He's our big boy named Duke. He is 12 years old. In January, two months ago, we noticed Gracie was breathing differently than normal. We took her to a nearby vet. They told us she had fluid in her chest and that we should think about putting her down. For me that wasn't an option. We decided to transfer her to Marqueen Pet Emergency & Specialty where after much testing she was diagnosed with Idiopathic Chylothorax. We have always said Gracie only likes us because she runs when others visit. She's a skittish kitty who doesn't respond well to any kind of change. She adores both of my boys, and especially loves to sleep with my oldest son. She's sweet, shy, funny, and really smart. She loves to play (when she's breathing okay). Her favorite toys are string and these small nerf balls that my boys have. We were unprepared financially for Chylothorax. Gracie has needed eight chest taps so far, and we have spent over $10k on credit cards and she still needs a $15k surgery. My husband and I are both teachers with two boys in college living at home. Gracie is our family.

Toussant
Toussant is a 3 year old American Shorthair in Roseville , CA, who needs $8,500 for Urgent Critical Care for Unknown Illness.
Roseville, CA
Toussant started her life as a stray. She, through incredible circumstances landed with me last year. I had just moved in to a new apartment and was not expecting to be taking care of a new kitty. But fate brought us together and I love her very much Toussaint’s Emergency Veterinary Care Fund Toussaint is an incredible 3-year-old kitty who was taken to the emergency room on Saturday after suddenly becoming very ill. She has been hospitalized since then and is receiving round-the-clock intensive care from specialists, which is quite costly. She is now at UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital Last year I broke my ankle and was on bed rest for over a month. Toussant came and laid right on my broken ankle and purred all night. She was healing me. Please help me heal her. I’m on fixed income and because of the critical care Toussant needed her veterinary bills are very high. Your help covering the costs of her care would mean the world.

Captain
Captain is a 10 year old Dachshund in Fairfield, CA, who needs $10,000 for Parathyroidectomy Surgery with Cystotomy Surgery.
Fairfield, CA
Captain came into our lives February of 2016 when my daughter and I took a visit to the local pound. We then adopted him when he was 3 months old and he has been with us ever since. He (now 10 years old) has grown alongside my daughter (23 years old) in our family home. Although my daughter has moved, Captain still lives here with me and she still comes to visit him as much as she possibly can. Captain has primary hyperparathyroidism which has led to hypercalcemia. He also is confirmed to have urinary stones, stones in his urethra, as well as small fragments in his kidneys. The vet has recommended Captain for surgery to remove the thyroid gland with the tumor and to remove his stones from his bladder and urethra. His surgery will be performed at UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Captain is an extremely happy dog and can be seen smiling in his photos. He loves humans (especially his family), other dog friends, and his cat sister "Kitty". He also loves food so he will do anything for treats, including shaking hands. His favorite activity to do is go on walks which my daughter rewards him with his favorite whip cream pup cup. He's our sweet boy and we love him very much! My daughter and Captain are two peas in a pod as she has also just recently needed to have surgery herself. With this, her college, and not making enough at my job, we don't have the money to pay for his surgery. It will mean so much to my family to have our baby okay again!

Charley
Charley is a 8 month old Poodle in Grass Valley, CA, who needs $9,000 for Orthopedic Fracture Repair Surgery on Both Legs.
Grass Valley, CA
Hello, my name is Gabrielle, and I created this fundraiser for my father’s puppy, Charley. Charley is only 8 months old and is the sweetest, most loving little soul — truly a treasured member of our family. Recently, she suffered the heartbreaking injury of breaking both of her front legs. For the past five long weeks, we have been doing everything we can to help her heal, including weekly cast changes and regular X-rays. Unfortunately, after reviewing her most recent X-rays, our veterinarian shared devastating news: the casts are not allowing her bones to heal correctly. Charley now urgently needs surgery on both legs in order to properly realign her bones and give her the chance at a full recovery. This experience has been incredibly emotional for our family. Watching such a young puppy struggle to walk, play, and simply be a puppy has been heartbreaking — and all we want is to see her back on her feet, happy and pain-free. So far, after five weeks of treatment, my father has already spent $4,209 on casts changes and X-rays alone. We were recently informed that the required surgery will cost up to an additional $9,000. This is an overwhelming financial burden, especially as my father’s only income is a limited amount of Social Security. For transparency, documentation of all veterinary bills paid to date, along with the surgery estimate, can be found in the photo section below. If you feel moved to support Charley’s healing journey, any donation — no matter the size — would mean the world to our family. Every contribution truly adds up and brings us one step closer to giving Charley the care she desperately needs. More than anything, we just want to see this little girl running, playing, and enjoying her puppyhood again. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who feels called to support Charley during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity mean more than words can express. ❤️

Red
Red is a 7 month old Mix-Breed in Tracy, CA, who needs $2,000 for Heart surgery.
Tracy, CA • People for Pets
Red was found one afternoon quietly following a neighbor down the street during her daily walk. Unsure where he belonged, she contacted People for Pets Rescue. They went out to take photos and post him as a found dog, hoping someone was looking for him. As part of routine care, they brought Red to the veterinarian for neutering, vaccinations, and a microchip. That appointment changed everything. During his exam, the vet discovered that Red had a severe heart murmur. What began as a simple effort to help a lost puppy quickly became a fight for his life. Red was referred to a cardiologist and placed into a foster home with four other dogs, where he immediately showed just how gentle and loving he is. The cardiologist delivered hopeful news: Red’s condition can be corrected with a relatively straightforward procedure, one that would allow him to live a full, happy life for many years to come. Knowing that this opportunity existed, there was no question—they had to give Red that chance. So they scheduled an appointment at UC Davis for further evaluation and to move forward with this life-saving plan. Red is truly one of a kind. At just seven months old, he is the sweetest little snugglebug, always wagging his tiny tail, happiest when curled up in a lap. He greets everyone with joy and seems to smile nonstop. Everyone who meets Red falls in love with him instantly. Once his heart is healed, we know he will quickly find the loving forever home he deserves. However, Red’s story comes with significant challenges. He is still just a puppy, and this surgery is necessary for him to survive—the total cost of which is estimated to be in the thousands. For a small rescue, this is an enormous financial strain. We are asking for help so Red can have the future he deserves. Any donation, large or small, will make a meaningful difference and go directly toward his life-saving care. Thank you for helping us give Red the chance to grow up healthy, happy, and loved. 1/26/26 Update After being postponed three times, Red's heart procedure finally happened on the 14th of this month. He's currently in rehab and a recuperation state. He needs to stay sedated for about another week and just had his sutures taken out. All went very well and the surgeon was extremely pleased. We are so grateful for your continued support.

Luna
Luna is a 5 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Chico, CA, who needs $2,000 for Hemilaminectomy.
Chico, CA
Luna is a five-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi from Chico, California. Adopted at ten weeks old, she lives with her parents, Heather and Ryan, and her three canine siblings—Lexie, Sydney, and Willo. The heart of the pack, Luna is their gentle matriarch and the connecting piece of the family, bringing love and harmony to their home. Luna recently suffered a medical emergency that left her back legs paralyzed, requiring a hemilaminectomy. She is now recovering at UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center with a hopeful prognosis. This unexpected event has left us facing a $15,000 medical bill, and we are seeking any help possible toward her care. Luna is an outgoing yet snuggly and loving Corgi who adores water, the outdoors, and her daily walks. Playful and full of spirit, she brings endless joy to her family. She loves being the center of attention and never hesitates to ask for cuddles, making every day brighter with her sweet and lively personality. Luna’s surgery has placed a heavy financial burden on our family. With two other dogs at home requiring ongoing medical care, our savings are depleted. We’re doing all we can to make our family whole again. Any financial support during this difficult time is very helpful.

Rafiki
Rafiki is a 1 year old American Shorthair in Woodland, CA, who needs $1,500 for Bowel Resection and Kidney Disease Monitoring.
Woodland, CA
Me and Rafiki have been living together for almost 2 years now. I took him in after a co-worker of mine was not able to raise him anymore. He has been a really big part of my emotional support over these last 2 years. He is really important to me because he is always there to cheer me up when I’m feeling the lowest in life. Rafiki gives the best cuddles in the whole world. Rafiki has been suffering from an intestinal blockage which has been causing many other health issues. He has been vomiting a lot prior to being taken to the vet. vomiting so much caused him to be dehydrated which led him to be at Risk of kidney disease. during the time of receiving fluids for dehydration it was discovered that he also has a lot of fluids in his lungs causes cardiovascular issues Rafiki is the sweetest boy he has 2 sisters Luna and ivy that he means so much to. Rafiki loves sucking and kneading on blankets while he cuddles. He is a really smart cat but really sneaky so I have to keep child locks on my pantry or he will eat everything in there. Rafikis medical bills are extremely expensive and unexpected. Not having Rafiki has caused a void in my home and it’s hard not coming home to him everyday. It would mean the world to me to have him home.

Wilkie
Wilkie is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Missoula, MT, who needs $14,000 for Arteriovenous Malformation Embolization.
Missoula, MT
I adopted Wilkie from a rescue, and his background is a bit of a mystery. He was found as a stray and is believed to be about 2 years old. He was turned over to a rescue group, and then spent a little time in a loving foster home until I was selected as his forever placement. Wilkie has been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called arteriovenous malformations (AVM). These are tangled webs of incorrect connections between his veins and arteries. Because this is such a rare condition, there are limited places with experience surgically correcting the malformations. The closest to us is UC Davis in CA, with treatmens estimates between $10,000-14,000. Wilkie is a charmer who greets everyone with vivacious tail wags and happy barks. He loves to snuggle and get belly rubs, but he's no couch potato! One of his favorite activities is a game of chase around the backyard with his doggie siblings. He's also very headstrong and bossy, believing everything should happen in his time frame - whether it's about food, walks, outside time, or attention! Wilkie's AVMs are causing constant swelling of his right front leg and high levels of pressure within his vascular system that are putting a strain on his heart. Due to this, he currently has a grade 2/3 heart murmur. Without treatment, this will only get worse with time.

Bear
Bear is a 9 year old Pomeranian in Redding, CA, who needs $2,000 for Gallbladder Removal Surgery.
Redding, CA
Bear is so much more than a pet; he's our first child, our best friend, and our constant companion. We got him when we were 18, and now, at 27, he's been by our side through every major milestone and all of life's ups and downs. Our biggest motivation has always been to give him the best life possible, and in doing so, we've built a better life for ourselves, too. Bear has always been a picture of health, but that changed suddenly this June. He became lethargic and seemed to be in constant pain. A visit to our local vet revealed his liver enzymes were at a terrifying 1100, when the normal range is just 100. We rushed him to the emergency vet on September 1st, where an ultrasound revealed a lot of mucus buildup in his gallbladder. Bear is a Pomsky—75% Pomeranian and 25% Husky—and a born adventurer. He was the last puppy in his litter, and when we first met him in 2016, it was love at first sight. He jumped right into our laps and hasn't left our side since. Bear loves exploring new hiking trails, running wild in grassy fields, and splashing along the tide pools at the beach. We rushed him to UC Davis Veterinary Emergency, where they took him in immediately. They informed us that Bear is in critical condition. The initial procedures alone, including hospitalization, blood tests, and imaging, are estimated to cost $17,000. We are both students.
Hank
Hank is a 2 year old American Shorthair in Oakland, CA, who needs $2,000 for Bilateral Femoral Head and Neck Excision.
Oakland, CA
We've enjoyed the company of cats over 22 years of marriage together. Hank came to us when we were seeking a companion for our pandemic-kitten, Mavis. He was listed as an urgent-needs adoption because his foster, a true angel, needed to move. Upon meeting him, we could tell despite his wary nature, he was also a very lovable guy needing a safe home where he could escape a bad start in life. Hank's adoption name was "Freeway" because that's where his foster spotted him being discarded from a moving car! X-rays show fractures in his hind legs that have resulted either from injury as a kitten, or a neutering procedure gone wrong. Whatever past trauma, Hank's condition is becoming more complicated and cause him tremendous pain. He tends to be reclusive, defensive, and walks with a limp With some pain management, Hank is an entirely different cat. He interacts with us and with Mavis, stalks butterflies outside the window, and *loves* gentle pets and belly rubs. He's still cautious of tother people, but finds safety and comfort in our small family. He sleeps with us at night, and wakes us in the morning needing some attention. Both of us are without permanent jobs due to lay-offs and disability. We're working it as hard as we can with entrepreneurial ventures, but things are pretty tight. The surgery Hank needs was never anticipated and will make a significant impact in our situation.

Lili
Lili is a 5 year old Rat Terrier in Modesto, CA, who needs $2,000 for Neurological Care.
Modesto, CA
Lili is the strongest pup I have ever met. I found her skin and bones on the side of the road in Mexico at just about 2 months old. She was severely ill and extremely malnourished. I could not leave her there. I immediately took her to the vet in Mexico and worked together to help her recover and survive from the already traumatic start of her life. She grew up to become an energetic young lady. Lili was energetic and playful until the beginning of Summer 2025. She began to loose her balance and within a couple of days she stopped walking completely. She developed Nystagmus (involuntary eye movement) and cried of confusion and possible pain. She is somewhat stable at the moment with help of some medication but needs help from UC Davis Neurological team. We are waiting for referral. Lili was a playful, sassy girl. She loved playing with her four legged brother Casper. As Lili became ill, Casper lays beside her and stares at me in confusion. We all miss playing with her. She is very vocal and you will hear her if you’re eating her favorite snacks. She loves everyone but can sometimes act like an antisocial teenage girl hidden in mama’s room. Lili needs special care from a Neurologist to find answers as to what happened to her and why. We need an MRI scan, CT scan, and possibly spinal fluid tests. This will help us get the answers we need and work towards full recovery ❤️🩹

Willow
Willow is a 1 year old German Shepherd Dog in Rancho Cordova, , who needs $2,000 for Oxygen; Bronchoscopy; Culture, Medication.
Rancho Cordova
Willow adopted me Oct. 2023 when she was a 4 month old puppy. She ran into the room with her oversized floppy ears & paws, jumped on my lap & hugged me, healing parts of me I didn't know were shattered. A lady bought her from an unhoused person 4 days prior. She weighed only 10 lbs at the time & was near death. She is now a 90- lb ball of love, playing in water, chasing balls & big sticks. Willow is currently at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital on oxygen. She had respiratory issues since being adopted. Her symptoms had been treated with antibiotics & steroids, which she was recently taken off because of an upcoming medical procedure. Being off the medicine for a few weeks, a larger issue with her lungs has been uncovered that requires scoping & oxygen to diagnose and treat the issue. Willow keeps me moving & makes the day worth geting out of bed. She's just wants to play & be her puppy self. People laugh & smile at the lake when she splashes around with her huge puppy grin. When I water the plants, she gets more on her than I get in the soil. She'll claim any ball laying around, including my dryer balls. She confuses the cat for a puppy & tries to play puppy games with her. This is a sudden major expense. I'm trying all resources to raise money to help Willow before facing possible humane euthanasia, which the vet said is my 3rd option in Willow's case. Willow healed me from other losses. I'm pleading for help to give her a fighting chance.

Luna
Luna is a 1 year old Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) in Vallejo, CA, who needs $2,000 for Total Hip Replacement.
Vallejo, CA
Luna was brought in as a stray in October of 2024. We adopted her November 2024. After we brought her home the next day we noticed her hip looked “boney” or a birth defect, but then we quickly realized she must be in pain because she is not putting weight on her back right leg. We contacted the shelter and they told us she has a broken hip joint. And they won’t help. After we got the X-rays, Broadway Pet hospital suggested limit her activity to almost nothing! She’s just a puppy and has so much energy it’s scary! We contacted a few vet offices and settled on UC Davis for what has been recommend to us a total hip replacement for full mobility for her future. Luna is full of character and she is so smart! I could tell within the first week we got her. Even though she has a broken hip, it won’t stop her from having fun! Luna loves everyone she comes in contact with and is so friendly. She has overcome her fear of cars, she wouldn’t even get in our car at first, and she can walk without getting scared of them passing by. We love her so much! We weren’t expecting to adopt a puppy from a shelter with a broken hip. We only expected the regular visit for check up. And definitely not expecting a $10,000 bill immediately after adopting her. We need help and already paid at least $5,000 on X-rays, visits, and meds.

Niels
Help Niels Recover: A 1 Year Old Needing a Total Right Hip Replacement
Tracy, CA • People for Pets
Niels found himself at People for Pets Rescue at just 6 weeks of age. He was 1 of 11 in an “oops” litter. People for Pets was so excited when he was adopted, only to be equally heartbroken shortly after, when he was returned. He is now a year old, still residing in foster care, patiently waiting for his forever home. As a puppy, Niels was often less active than other puppies, and sometimes even the older dogs he was around. He would occasionally yelp in pain, which became more and more concerning as he grew. He began making it clear that something was not right, warranting medical intervention. He was taken to Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital. The x-rays showed the sad, but not surprising news, that Niels has severe hip dysplasia. At just a year old, his hips presented as those of a 10–12-year-old dog. Niels was then taken to UC Davis for further consultation. After much deliberation, there was only one option to provide sweet Niels with a pain-free life: a total right hip replacement. Without hesitation, People for Pets Rescue moved forward with scheduling and preparing Niels for surgery. They knew he deserved a chance. Thankfully, his surgery went wonderfully and he is now on crate rest for 3 months. He is such a loving dog who adores snuggles and craves human affection. He is such a ball of joy. We have fallen hard for this sweet boy, and want to provide for him, but need your help financially. People for Pets is a non-profit rescue that relies solely on donations to provide rehabilitation and medical care to fosters like Niels. Please consider donating to support his medical journey today. Update 01/31/25 Niels says "Hi. I'm doing great and get to return to UC Davis for my follow-up vet appointment on February 13th. Hopefully I'll get the A-OK release to get out of the crate and get some freedom". Watch for the update to come! Update 02/13/25 Great news! Not total freedom but certainly much more. Niels is allowed to be out of his kennel during the day rather than stuck in his crate! He's allowed to walk stairs to help build muscles. Easy, gentle play and being off leash is ok if monitored. We will return on the 10th of march for radiographs. Slow steady progress. Yay!

Riley
Riley is a 3 year old English Springer Spaniel in Playa Vista, CA, who needs $2,000 for Half Body Veterinary Radiation Therapy.
Playa Vista, CA
Riley came to us 3.5 years ago - it's been absolute joy since. But, on Aug. 29, Riley's cheeks became swollen like baseballs. We weren't prepared for the shocking, devastating news that he has STAGE 4 LYMPHOMA | CANCER. He's been tolerating chemo AMAZINGLY - drs are encouraged he can live longer than the stats. But treatments are staggeringly expensive & we need $$ help to keep him alive. Stage 4 Lymphoma means the cancer is everywhere on Riley - except his bones. He's getting chemo therapy at Veterinary Cancer Group who've said Riley's the best possible example for 1/2 body radiation - a new therapy at UC Davis - a 14 hr car ride away - and one of the best vet teaching hospitals in the world. We are hopeful that with this treatment, we can extend Riley's life significantly. Riley Boo, Peanut, Silly Billy - all names we use to describe our little cancer dog. His soulmate and brother, Hunter, and him play endlessly. He still has so much energy and love for life- even with chemo! He chases balls, is on "squirrel look out," barks at our neighbor's cat and is a world-champion cuddle bug. We are all - mommy, daddy, Hunter, nanny and her kitty, Midnight - obsessed. What isn't going on with us... both out of work and in the worst financial situation of our lives - and this happens. It's gut-wrenching to find yourself in this position and learn your dog needs expensive cancer treatments - when you can barely afford the rent.

Maui
Maui is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Escondido, CA, who needs $2,000 for Oral Nasal Fistula Repair.
Escondido, CA
We rescued Maui, a 3-year-old shepherd mix we rescued from the Helen Woodward Humane Society when he was 8 weeks old. A year ago, Maui's incredible bond with my daughter proved to be life-changing. In her darkest hour, Maui's presence, love, and infectious happiness provided her with the strength and motivation to keep fighting. Maui was diagnosed with advanced Oral Fibrosarcoma. Thankfully, he underwent successful surgery through a clinical trial at UC Davis. Unfortunately, complications arose, leaving Maui with a significant hole connecting his oral and nasal cavities, causing choking when eating and drinking. A second surgery is scheduled for October 1st to address this issue and check for any remaining cancer cells. Maui is the most majestic and joyous granddog in all of San Diego. His love for hiking, nature, and camping mirrors that of his dedicated owners. He brings joy to our lives every day. My daughter, a full-time college student, was compelled to resign from her job to provide continuous care for Maui after his initial surgery. As a result, we are now reliant on a single income. Your support during this challenging time would be greatly appreciated.

Vulcan
Vulcan is a 1 year old Perro de Presa Canario in Reno, , who needs $2,000 for Coronoidectomy.
Reno
Only time I’ve ever been happy to be told I failed, foster failed that is, 2 dogs at the same time. A momma dog with her puppy. They were brought into my life on 7/3/23 when the littler of puppies was just a few weeks old with their very scared mommy dog. They adjusted quick, I got to watch them grow and find homes, except for Vulcan and his mom Lulu, they stayed and became family on 8/17/23. Vulcan currently is having issues with the tendons in his jaw which is causing his jaw to lock open every time he yawns, he currently wears a muzzle full time to prevent this. We have received a Cone Bean CT at UC Davis and have discovered he needs Coronoidectory (removal of the Coronoid Process) to correct this issue. He’s got two greats loves, food then naps, I would say my other dog Lulu and myself are a close for 3rd place. His favorite way to kill time is to chase his tail. His favorite toys are any of the ones that sound like plastic bags, so I always feel like he’s getting into something which he never is. He is very awkward, he tries to play with other dogs sometimes but would rather watch from afar. With a fixed income and unexpected costs that have occurred and continue with him. I’d love to be able to get this surgery done so we can get this sweet boy out of his muzzle and back to just scaring people cause he is big.
