Amor

Amor is a 6 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Newport, RI, who needs $2,500 for Stomach pump and tremor relaxation.

Newport, RI

I have had Amor since he was 8 weeks old! Born on 7/15/2020, he’s been a part of our family since. He has grown up with my oldest daughter and truly is my son with 4 legs. I don’t know what life would be like if I didn’t have my boy Amor had gotten into the trash with my Frenchie, and they both consumed moldy bread. I had to rush them to the ER at two different times on August 3rd. Amor is the BEST family dog. He greets and treats all children like fragile eggs. He loves to play fight with my other dog. He is truthfully the best boy ever. No bias We are a new military family being stationed 3200 miles away in just 2.5 weeks. We had saved a PCS fund that we had to urgently use for our dogs. No questions asked we got them there and helped promptly. But we are now super stressed and down $2500.

Years of Neglect No More

Cranston, RI • Walker's Way Rescue

Mozart was found in a busy city in Rhode Island. Founder called animal control and when they arrived they couldn't believe their eyes. She thought he was dead. The ACO spent 4 hours trying to clean him and when she did she released a knot near his leg and when she did his leg just fell. His leg was so matted it cut off circulation that his leg became necrotic. When he was half shaved he was soaked with urine. This is the worst case of neglect the ACO ever seen. He spent the night at Ocean State Emergency Hospital in East Greenwich, RI. He received blood work tests, antibiotics, fluids, sedated shave down and full body cleaning. Blood work test stated white blood cells elevated and anemic. His back leg was accessed and it will need amputation once infections are cleared. He is currently on pain patch and will not be discharged until we have his doctor has pain management in place. Please consider helping this boy Mozart Augusta. UPDATE: Mozart is home resting and will be seeing a Primary Vet for pain management and leg amputation. He is also losing part of his right foot due to bone corrosion and testing for possible cancer. 8/4/26 Update: More care needed As time goes on and the more and more diagnostics are done to Mozart we are finding a very bad past. His front paw is fractured and needs a baby toe amputated as well as his leg. He has what appeared as a broken tail but that has healed at a right angle. Despite his trauma he is loving the attention of kindness. We have a lot more work to do for him.

Cosmo

Cosmo is a 16 year old American Shorthair in Cranston, RI, who needs $10,000 for Echocardiogram, Diagnosis at ER , and Meds.

Cranston, RI

Back in 2009, I was 6 years old when Cosmo came into our lives. My dad's friend found a litter of kittens behind a building at his workplace and started giving away the kittens. The friend decided to gift Cosmo to my dad, and I remember my dad coming home one day with a baby kitten. My mom was the one that came up with the name, it comes from the cartoon The Fairy Odd Parents. We initially brought Cosmo into PetMedic Hospital because he had stopped eating for 5 days and was throwing up. They gave him fluids and anti-nausea meds hoping that it would help. We brought him in again because he started to breathe heavily with the same symptoms. They then gave him IV fluids (which is why part of his arm is shaved) and meds to get his breathing under controlled I love Cosmo so much, he means everything to me. I know he's an older cat, but I just hate to see him suffering. He's a beautiful lap cat and he loves to watch soap operas while laying on my lap. He follows me around the house and loves to meow a lot. Whenever I come home, he's always at the entrance waiting for me while shaking his tail as if to greet me. He's been my little companion for years I just graduated from college last year and I am in the army national guard and will be shipped out in September for basic training. In the mean time I have been doing a part time at a preschool. I'm worried about his breathing and I want to take him to the ER. Thank you ❤️

Pete

Pete is a 8 year old American Shorthair in Sterling, CT, who needs $3,200 for Emergency Asthma Treatment.

Sterling, CT

I got Pete as a rescue from Pawswatch in RI during Covid in 2020, after my previous cat (who was 20!) unfortunately passed away. He was two years old when I got him and had endured a major injury to the top of his head, which left him with a scar by his ear. We heard a noise and Pete was on his side, heavily panting and salivating/not moving and had soiled without control. We grabbed him and rushed to the closest emergency vet (8pm on a Sunday) which was ocean state veterinary specialists in East Greenwich, RI, where he has been in an oxygen chamber, as it was determined he has asthma and had a major attack. Right now the bill is well over $3000. Pete is about as sweet as it gets when it comes to cats. He is more like a dog at times - likes to greet you at the door and seemingly wags his tail when excited. He likes belly rubs and tucking up close against his people. He’s also very chatty and often responds if you talk to him. As a kindergarten teacher, he has also become a beloved part of my classroom family, as all my kids know him. I am a teacher and in the process of trying to save for a house. This vet bill is going to be a fairly big chunk of my yearly salary. Right now I’m expecting the cost to be somewhere around 4-5k. Having just lost my dad on May 15, having my boy healthy means the world.

She has liver issues with this diagnosis. We are looking to get help with costs. We were estimated anywehere from 7-13 thousand. We have to pay it before she can have the surgery. We are currently waiting to hear back from 2 places we were referred to so she can get the surgery. Anything helps! She is just a little bundle of joy to our family. She has her own little personality and lovesss to howl. Her favorite thing to do with Dad is run around the house or yard while barking, favorite thing to do with Mom and her sister is cuddle, and lastly she loves to chase her 4 legged cat friend We learned about this diagnosis about 9 months ago and the vet said she would eventually need surgery but we didnt think it would be this soon. Lola is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Sterling , CT, who needs $6,000 for Bowel Obstruction Repair Surgery.

Sterling, CT

Help Save Lola – Our Rescue, Our Family, Lola came into our lives after surviving an abusive home. She had no vet care, no safety, and no idea what it meant to be truly loved—until she found us. From the moment she joined our family a year ago, Lola became everything a dog should be: loving, playful, gentle, and fiercely loyal. She is especially my son’s best friend. They are inseparable. Lola ingested a sock, which has been confirmed by a veterinarian through diagnostic imaging to be a linear foreign body obstruction. A linear blockage occurs when a long object (such as a sock, string, or fabric) becomes lodged in the gastrointestinal tract. Unlike a single object, it can anchor in one area while the intestines continue to move, causing them to bunch, fold, or tear. From the moment she joined our family a year ago, Lola became everything a dog should be: loving, playful, gentle, and fiercely loyal. She is especially my son’s best friend. They are inseparable. She is his comfort, his laughter, and his constant companion. Lola came to us shortly after we had to say goodbye to our English Mastiff, who crossed the rainbow bridge at 14 years old. Lola saved us to This was completely unexpected. We just went through an emergency surgery for our cat due to ingesting plant material, which drained our savings. Now, facing the same type of emergency with Lola so suddenly has put us in a financial crisis we were not prepared for.

Leon Tigs III is a 12 year old Mix-Breed who needs $2,500 for Chemotherapy Pills, Bloodwork, Consults w/ Vet

Narragansett, RI

I rescued Leon Tigs III 12 years ago from an out of state animal shelter. I'll never forget that moment when we connected. They had named him Tigs. He was different then the others! He was alert, spunky and soo persistent. "Let Me-Owt!” When we were on our way home, Kings of Leon was on the radio. My little Royal's name would be Leon Tigs III. We ventured home to RI together. We had been so happy together until Xmas 2025, when we discovered that Leon had advanced stage multiple myeloma, a rare cat cancer. He was deteriorating by the day with heart viscosity and moderate/severe anemia which involves extreme difficulty breathing. During Christmas week alone I spent $2,500! They were finally able to administer a chemo pill to him at Oceanstate ER. And, it's working! My baby, my 'emotional support animal', Leon who is now in his own medical journey has stood by his mom's side through her own medical journey since 2013. I suffer from genetic rare chronic illnesses and little Leon is my best friend. Leon loves politics and is especially attentive to Breaking News on tv. He loves sunbathing on the deck, boxes of all sizes, jazz music, tuna, and cheese! Leon has made light years of progress in 7 weeks time on a chemo pill & corticosteroid. A miracle considering euthanasia was considered in December. I am overwhelmed with his medical bills on top of my medical bills. Treating Leon's cat cancer this year will be expensive!

Kernel Cheddar is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Warwick , RI, who needs $5,600 for TPLO Surgery (Left Hind Limb).

Warwick, RI

From a stray in Texas to a hoarding situation in Tiverton, RI to Potter League Rescue, Cheddar found his way into our hearts. We adopted him knowing he was heart worm positive and got him through his treatments. He successfully beat heart worm and, other than allergies, he's been a healthy boy. Cytopoint injections keep his allergies at bay though those are expensive, now he needs surgery. Cheddar tore his ACL on the left side. We are hoping to get the full TPLO surgery to fix it completely before the Right side is affected due to the extra wear. Ocean State Veterinary Specialists Surgical specialty will be handling the surgery. Currently he's scheduled with Dr. Coronado, but if we have to push out the surgery due to $$ it might change, which is ok but I don't want our pup to wait. Cheddar keeps our family feeling safe and warm. His best bud is our cat, Lucipurr who he plays with and cuddles with. He tolerates our toy poodle who only recently decided he's ok after 2 years. He is scared of people who are scared of him and has a big scary bark but, other than at the vets, I have not seen him try to bite. He's quite gentle and mainly loves cuddling. I recently became disabled.I still work as much as I can, but I'm not able to do a full 40 hr week or do side jobs like I used to do. My family has already spent a lot to help with my accessibility and medical needs. Relieving Cheddar's pain is my goal, He deserves it.

Last august right before the cold weather hit I almost ran over a little kitty trying to cross the road. This baby was way too young to be roaming the streets away from its mom. I spent 30 minutes getting her to trust me so i could take her home. My son immediately fell in love and named her Penelope and shes been part of the family since. Baby kitty is a terror, and she likes to chew up wires 😢 she has chee through every alexa in the house, 2 different macbook chargers and all our phone chargers. Ive been doing my best to get her to stop doing this but unfortunately shes swallowed something that is now stuck in her digestive tract and she will need surgery. She is just a precious baby who almost met her fate under my car tires but instead i was able to see her as small as she was, brought her home to give her a wonderful life. My mother has grown close to her, my son adores her, and I cant give up on her now. She deserves to live. I am a single mother and have no means of paying for this, my mother is on disability, and is living with me amid the housing shortage. It would mean the world to me if my community could help us with this situation as this kitty means so much to my mother and son.

The bill was paid, but now I am strapped with paying a bill that I can't afford. Help Eli was brought to Ocean State Veterinary Services in East Greenwich, RI. He was put on iv fluids immediately. Bloodwork and xrays were taken followed by an ultrasound. The discovery of the blockage was made and surgery was scheduled. Eli is the sweetest little lion. He loves to snuggle with me. He is so cute when he throws his head back and waits for my kisses. All of the vet techs at the hospital wanted to take him home. He was so loveable even going through the pain that he endured. He is simply my baby. I would have been devastated and lost if Eli had passed. It makes me ill to even think of losing him. I love him so much. I am a teacher, therefore, I do not make a lot of money. My husband and I recently separated and this veterinary bill is my responsibility. Minnie Mae came into our lives when my daughter, Emma, wanted me to have a mini dachshund again. She knew how much I loved my childhood dachshund and one as an adult. My husband gave me adorable Minnie and she has been spoiled with love ever since. She came during the perfect time, when the world needed a distraction from Covid. She kept our minds focused as our Emma battled her own health crisis A few weeks ago, Minnie was sound asleep in her favorite deep seated chair. Someone came to the door and she jumped out. My daughter heard a loud snap sound. Minnie appeared to be in pain, so we brought her in to Caldwell vet. After a transport to Baystate ER care, then to a sister site at Ocean State Vet, she required emergency surgery for a ruptured disc. She is now sadly paralyzed.. Minnie Mae is our goofball. She had never known a day without fun. She had to be the first one out of the door, to run around the backyard, playfully barking and expressing her excitement always. We are all devastated by this. We are emotionally and physically drained. We are so sad that we can’t rewind time and get rid of the chair. She was walking before the vet, so that has equally been hard. With the decision of homeschooling, came with the decision to not go out to restaurants, keep the budget tight, drive older cars, and live as simply as possible. We have put approx $12,000 on credit cards to save Minnie’s life. She also requires ongoing treatments.

She’s had a tough life but has been cared for and LOVED for the past 3 years at least. She is my best friend. Bailey has lost half of her body weight over the past year and after multiple visits to the SPCA Animal Health Center, 2 rounds of bloodwork, and a round of antibiotics they still can’t figure out what is causing her issue. She goes for an Ultrasound at Ocean State Veterinary Hospital on January 22nd. Unfortunately that will absolutely tap me out financially. Bailey is truly special in the sense that we both helped each other through a tough time. I adopted her just after I lost my mother to pancreatic cancer, my father to complications of Alzheimer’s and COVID-19, and had to put my pug down due to old age all in the same year. After adopting Bailey I became disabled. Combination of physical and emotional medical issues that I deal with on a daily basis. Due to that, I am on SSDI which is obviously a fixed income and I have maxed out what credit I have.

Lollie is puppy mill survivor rescued from a kill shelter in Arkansas. I saw her on Petfinder over10 yrs ago and fell in love. Her foster named her. I adopted Lollie and had her transported to RI when she was 8 wks old. My Dal mix, Maddie, took her under wing and the first lesson was how to do a perimeter. They became best friends. Lollie became alpha and still orders the bigger dogs around. I just lost Maddie. She was 17. The next month, Lollie had the cancer diagnosis. She had a toe tumor. It took a month to see the surgeon for a consult. Lollie was limping and clearly hurting. Dr. David Sweet at Ocean State Veterinary Services in East Greenwich, RI, amputated her toe and removed and biopsied a lymph node and tumor. It was Melanoma, but had not spread yet. I called oncology. Lollie, 26 lbs, once launched herself into the air and scolded a larger dog that had lunged at me. She and Maddie would squeeze into my mom's hospital bed when mom was on hospice. They would not be kept from her. Whether sleeping on her back or trying to look innocent after eating something she shouldn't when said item is clearly in her beard, she makes me laugh. Her tail never stops wagging. Oncologist Caleb Alexander, at OSVS, thinks Lollie should have a cancer vaccine that could extend her life. It's a series of 4 vaccines and a booster. The cost is $1500 per vaccine. Without this treatment, the cancer will spread. I took out $6000 in loans to cover the surgery, funds are now needed for cancer treatment.

He was approximately 3-4 months old when we got him and we immediately fell in love with him. He is the sweetest, so gentle and loves tummy rubs. Blu is extremely loving and loves his humans. Everyone who meets him adores him. Blu unexpectedly woke up sick. We took him to the vet where he appears to have ingested something causing possible perforation that has caused guild build up. We were barely able to afford the visit and test and now transferred to another hospital where he will be kept for observation. The surgery he might have will cost 8,000 plus hospital stay. We are begging for any help. Blu always makes sure the kids are safe, he is playful and loves outside. He gives paw and sits but is hard of hearing. He shows love by placing paw on our hands promoting us to give him tummy rubs or physical touch. Every morning he wakes up at 5am and greets us then goes outside potty. He does very well at home while his humans are away. He loves doggy ice cream ♥️ This has been a very unexpected situation and we have exhausted funds at initial visit and secondary hospital where he is being observed for the night. It will mean the world for us, my children if we could have some help. God bless you all for your help.

Wesson is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Riverside, RI, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy.

Riverside, RI

I met Wesson 6 years ago, as a rescue she was very thin after having and weening off a litter of 6 since then she’s spent her life getting the best foods, meeting new friends, exploring almost every state on the east coast, and always being up for the next adventure, she lives people more then almost anything and brings a smile to everybody’s face she meets, she is loved by so many! Recently after numerous tests and speaking g with the oncologist at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists we were told that our little girl has cancer that is effecting her lymph nodes, although she’s still very much normal on the outside we know that she doesn’t have a lot of time without treatment, and we aren’t ready to say goodbye anytime soon. Wesson meets any person and automatically becomes that persons favorite dog! She has a way about her that is so caring yet playful and just wants to be involved when she sees other people having a good time! She can convince anyone to sneak her bites under the table and gives the best kisses all over your face, she has an amazing talent of high fives and ability to catch treats! After a huge unexpected expense of having nowhere to live and with many animals under my care(some needing daily meds) I have depleted my emergency funds In the home buying process and could not have seen this big surprise coming, any help would mean the world to us.

My mom bought Lexie from a family friend who is a breeder. She was a late Christmas present. We live with my parents as I am only 19 and in college. She has been healthy since the day we got her. She never even threw up before she got sick. Lexie is currently being treated at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. She has been diagnosed with Leptospirosis which can be fatal. Her kidney levels were low and her liver levels were high. We were told she would only need to stay for 3 nights but they have told us that she probably needs to stay longer. We were also told that we had to take our other 2 dogs because the disease is contagious. Lexie came into our lives 2 months before my 11-year-old Yorkie passed. She has helped us heal our hearts and is attentive to our emotions. She knows when we're sad and cuddles when we need it. This is not to say that she isn't a playful puppy. She loves her toys, cleans up the mess she makes, and puts them back in the toy bin. She is a light in our dark life. This is a huge expense to us. We are a family of 9 and have our 2 older dogs. My younger siblings are in sports all year round and that gets expensive. We also provide for my paralyzed uncle. We are busy and don't have the funds to pay for more than 3 nights.

Bandit is a rescue! Came from a past not treated or fed well. He came home with us and has stuck by my side since, he has brothers and sisters here who are also rescues. Bandit comes to me to be held, tucked in and before he has a seizure. I’ve done my best to help him like he has helped me, but we need more help. He is hurting and I can’t do more than what I have. Bandit currently has insulinoma. In the past, his owners fed him Cheerios and sugar. That definitely caught up to him. He is currently on prednisone but needs an ultrasound and more tests. He has stuck by my side since I rescued him. He puts his paw on my foot whenever he wants my attention. He comes to me for help and there is only so much I can do. I am currently looking for help with vet bills and that’s it. We have everything else needed. I am currently on disability. I’m going down hill and doing my best to keep my rescues as happy and healthy as possible without worrying about them elsewhere. He needs more time at the vets and I can not currently afford all these visits.

Charlestown, RI

In December 2022, we had to put down our beloved Chihuahua (Cooper) after a sudden illness. After four months, we wanted to honor Cooper by adopting another dog. We adopted Jade on April 25, 2023 from Paws Rescue League in Connecticut. Jade was surrendered by her owner in TN. She now lives in Rhode Island and loves her fur sister and human sister. There was a bump under Jade's armpit. Our vet, Atlantic Animal Clinic thought it was a cyst. On May 8th, Jade had surgery and the lump is an aggressive cancer. We now need to see an oncologist to see if the cancer has spread. To do so, we need a consultation, ultrasound and x-rays. Jade was great addition to our family. We were grieving over the loss of our dog Cooper and Jade brought the joy back into our hearts. We have a 13 year old lab who adores Jade and made her feel right at home. My daughter is 7 and experienced losing Cooper and I am hoping she won't have to lose Jade as well. We only have one income at this time and the cost of the surgery was more than we expected. Our family is devastated over this unexpected cancer diagnosis. We only need help with finding out if the cancer has spread.

Vinny was a kitty I kept from a stray momma I found on the streets. She had the cats in the basement and I kept Vinny. Due to a lot of issues with my family I hd to move multiple times one of them my dads house and they do not like cats so Vinny had to stay behind with my mom. Few months later I found out that Vinny was taken to a shelter and even thought I was only 18 I moved and he has been with Vinny is my baby, he can be a little territorial but he is my spoiled baby. He us nit a kitty anymore but his personality and the way he behaves is like a young cat. He is an inside cat and I rescued Lavender (girl kitty) so he is not alone plus I am a cat lover. Vinny is my child and he acts as such, he sleeps with me and is always next to me when at the house. He is just a little moody (like me) and sometimes he shows it when people come over and get all over him but he has always been that way since he was a baby. Vinny has a crooked tail (was never hurt or anything like that) he was just born with that so that just makes him even more special. When Vinny was 4-5 weeks old he hid under a blanket in he floor and I stepped on him and we had to resucitate for the last 2 weeks he has not been himself. He doesn't come to the door or chase his snacks. I know he has some dental issues and I promise I have done everything in my power but I believe is causing major problems in his health. I took him to the ER and paid for the visit as I thought something was really wrong with him but was offered blood work and testing that was going to be an xtra 900$ th I have been struggling trying to juggle multiple things at once and I am aware I am not the only one. Someone hit my car and I had to pay out of pocket so that put me in a bad spot. Vinny is my everything we have been through so much together and I do not know what to do.

King and I first met when my friends dog had a litter and was trying to find homes for the puppies. First day I took King I knew he was going to be the king of the house because of his strong personality and how he grabbed everyone's attention as he entered a room. I have another dog named Roxy and they got along since day one. King is a very protective dog over the whole household. At home it is me, my mom, King and Roxy and loves everyone at home. He likes going on walks and likes to pause a lot to smell every other dogs stopping area. He mostly likely playing and running around with Roxy in the gated back yard weather its hot or cold outside. King is the only dog I've seen that loves being in the rain. He is very well known in my neighborhood because he barks at everyone walking passed and everyone is always amazed on how beautiful he is. He loves being near me at all times and he will protect his whole family at any time whether sick or healthy. I brought King to the Veterinary Urgent Care Center on 2/15/24. I brought him here because since the beginning of the year I've noticed his belly getting bigger each day(bloated). I noticed he also starting losing muscle mass and it started to look physically draining for him. I got him checked up and bloodwork done but they couldn't tell if the tumor is cancer or not. I work as an independent contractor for an insurance company. I started this career last year in hopes of building my career and personal life. This job doesn't pay consistently and King's operation will cost more than I can afford.

Fall River, MA

Bella came into our lives at a very sad time because I had just miscarried and had no pets at the time and I ended up finding a post on Craigslist for kittens available from a nearby breeder. We went to look at the kittens and the first one who came up to us was Bella she was also the runt of the litter. She came home with us that night at 7 weeks old. Bella sleeps with us every single night she is very attached to my husband and myself she will sleep on us if we are downstairs watching TV. She loves to play fetch with her toys or wrappers! She will meow when she wants her special wet food or will go to the closet door for a treat. She enjoys it being quiet but when she wants to play she will run around and go wild. Bella has a bond with us that I don't think any pet I've had or my husband has had with us she likes to "talk" and be vocal at times and loves kisses and to be held like a baby she loves to be silly and try to fit in small places. She is absolutely afraid of thunder, the vet and car rides. After she uses the litter box she races down the stairs and peels out on the floor which is hilarious. Bella has had a few medical issues with having UTIs in the past and has had to be on a special urinary veterinarian diet since she was 4 years old and has been on antibiotics for it as well. She also has feline asthma which we have an enhaler for her. Recently she has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 11 years old and is on Methimazole but we want to do the radioiodine therapy to prolong her life I have recently been out of work to take care of my father in law with recently diagnosed dementia with no help from other family members and my husband is the only one with income right now. Hi, my name is Davis. I came to my forever home in September of 2020 when I was able to leave my mom. I was a gift from a friend of my mom, who owned my mom and she accidently got herself pregnant. I love my family so much, even my brother, Scooby the Dog that my family rescued too. I rule the house, I have to inspect everything that comes in the house and I make sure they know I am hungry. I love to spend my day napping in my bread bed, while my Mom works here at home. I also love to play with my dog brother, we love to play chase and hide an seek, which I usually win! I sleep with my human sister at night because she has a lovely spot for me on her bed. I have a love/hate relationship with my dog brother! He thinks I am a dog, but I make sure that he is put in his place! We play in the morning before our naps and then again after dinner. I really love to sleep on my mom's legs when it is close to my breakfast time. I love to talk to my mom, she talks back to me asking all sorts of questions, but I think she doesn't quite understand me sometimes I am currently in the hospital for a urinary blockage. I am not loving it!. My doctor is recommending the Perineal Urethrostomy surgery so that this might not happen again. This is the second time that this has happened to me. I will also be on prescription food for the rest of my life, which I am not looking forward to it, because it won't be tasty. My parents need help because they have already spent almost 4,000 on my care and the surgery estimates are between 3600-5500 dollars. It is a tough time of year for everyone, but they are great people and love me so much.

Dora was a gift given to me by my daughter. Dora was born October 4, 2016. I got to pick her out from the liter. She was the perfect pick for me and her Pomeranian brother Toby who also helped with picking her out of liter. Dora is the watch dog of our family. She enjoys sitting on the stairs in the house. She also loves to lay down on my deck and watch the people walking their dogs in our neighborhood. She enjoy eating these treats called good n fun. She understands that she gets only 2 at a time. She will come back for 2nd treat when she is done. We can never run out of these treats that Dora enjoys eating. Dora is my baby. I have been taking care of her since she was 8 weeks old. When Dora was 3 months old she got out the gate and was gone for 3 days. She was lost in the woods. She found her way back to me just before a snowstorm was about to hit. She deserves to live even if she has to live with 3 legs. She is only 7 years old and she doesn't have any other health issues that I am aware of. Dora was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous tumor on her right hind leg. This came about very suddenly. July 20th Dora got groomed no lump found. July 28 I saw the lump. Dora was seen at vet on August 2nd, diagnoses aggressive cancerous tumor. I was advised to see a oncologist. The specialist scheduled surgery to remove lump and hind leg. 8/22/23. She came into our lives giving us a glimmer of hope & love after we lost our old man lab to cancer last year. We have been so blessed to have her silly self in our lives. Poppy is like one of those family members that you always complain about because they are stealing your snacks or sitting in your seat, but you couldn’t imagine what life would be like if they were not there. She always greets her two big brothers when they get off the bus after school & snuggles under the covers with her paws out at in her mom & dads bed. Pop’s loves to run around all day outside, chase leaves, play with the goats & cows. She has recently learned to sit. (She’s a bit stubborn). She sits patiently waiting for her big glitter sister feeds her snacks from all her meals & is so gentle with everyone. She is the best couch potato & snuggler. Even if she does take up half the bed by herself because she needs to have her legs stretched out Poppy June was unfortunately hit by a truck a few days ago. Unbeknownst to her mom & dad she had crossed the street & came running back just as a truck came barreling down the road. We don’t fault the driver, but he was certainly driving too fast & had he been driving slower he could have missed her. She has required 2 surgeries & a very expensive multi day stay at the vet hospital. We are a one family income household & like most are feeling our purse strings pulled tighter it seems almost monthly. With the rising costs of her vet fees we are struggling with the financial burden we now have. With having a farm, 5 kids & 4 other pups it’s tough.

Milky was born in my sister's closet along with his other siblings. My sister since she is a single mom to my niece and is a low-income household but even so she has manage to spoil Milky and love him deeply. He's a big goofball and we often catch him doing strange things, like drinking out of the faucet even if it means he wets his head. He loves to sleep in tents so his bedroom is a mini-tent. He is loyal and loves to wait by the window or door and always howls his head off when you approach. He is the sidekick to my 8YO niece and often you can find him at her feet even in the bathroom. He is just the most gentle and funniest cat. We often joke that he was born with two brain cells but with the biggest heart. He has a habit of stealing socks and bringing them into his mini-tent. He's also a proud dad and currently lives with his daughter cat Salem, whom he dotes on by overgrooming her until she gets annoyed. Milky was diagnosed with diabetes after falling unexpectedly ill within 24 hours. He's been diagnosed with fatty liver syndrome which has caused problems. So far he has received an IV for fluids, a plasma transfusion, and feeding tubes. We hope he recovers and comes home. When he first arrived at the vet he wasn't moving or awake. A day has passed and he is alert and awake so he's a fighter! My sister has a disability (suffering from severe asthma made worse by covid) and is a dedicated stay-at-home mom to her daughter. Alaric and I have been trying to live our best lives since I adopted him 4 years ago. It’s been a crazy ride with his Babesia treatment and my ailments. But we’ve always had each other. He is my baby boy, my child, my guardian. I can not imagine my life without him especially at such a young age. As much as it bothers me to ask, we need some financial help for his spleen removal surgery. Alaric’s favorite hobbies include bone chewing, ball squeaking, and walks. It doesn’t matter where we walk because he’s always the happiest boy. Most days he sleeps and especially as of late. He has not been himself since he started eating dirt. The dirt stemmed from the anemia which stems from the mass on his spleen. Alaric is a lovable jerk and there’s no other way to put it. He is adored and loved by so many including all the ladies at the groomer. People who have seen our photos say how amazing is ears are. And honestly, they are some of the best bat ears around! He’s still quirky with new people. He’s been enjoying pack walks with his doggy friends for over year. But sadly, he can not participate right now Alaric’s full story is a strange one. He was a doggy blood donor 2 years ago. Upon initial tests he had a clean bill of health. Then his blood started making other dogs sick. His blood work has been part of a study at NCSU since then. Alaric has always been asymptomatic. 8 weeks ago he started eat dirt in the yard. His blood work showed anemia. His ultrasound showed a mass on his spleen. Alaric’s surgery will cost close to $4,000. I had to give up his pet insurance this year for my own. So this will be out of pocket. Any help will be great fully appreciated!

Lucy Mae

Lucy Mae is a 3-year-old Lhasa Apso in Shrewsbury, MA, who needs $1,500 for Cherry Eye Surgery.

Shrewsbury, MA

Lucy was a much needed surprise from my mother when my Maltipoo, Haley Pearl, passed away from Congestive Heart Failure at age 11. I was heartbroken. Lucy, affectionately known as Lucy Magoofy, has been with me for 3 years. It was a rough couple years, as she had intense fear aggression. Working with a trainer, and her vet, Lucy has come such a long way, and is such a little cuddlebug. Lucy sleeps in my bed with me every night. Any time her Grammy watches her, she still sleeps in our bed. She loves belly rubs, and is great with kids. She goes up to my mom's maltipoo Lulu and touches noses with her, and it melts our heart every time she does it. They have become good friends. She is an indoor dog, and only goes outside on a leash. (busy road and no fence) Lucy, who has the nickname Lucy Magoofy, is such a goofball! She farts all the time, and I think it is so hilarious. She loves to watch tv, self soothes by putting a toy in her mouth and making little noises, and she loves being caudled. Every morning when I make her breakfast I have to give her a taste test so she can make sure she likes it. She's a diva, & I wouldn't have it any other way. Lucy has had one cherry eye surgery. Unfortunately she needs it again, and her normal vet suggested she see a specialist, since it popped out again. It's $1500 at least, and I have to have the money up front, and then be reimbursed through her pet insurance. I could even pay the money back, I just need the money up front to be able to book the surgery. It's been months I have been trying. I am moving, and need to have the funds to move, as most places are requiring a large sum of money to move into a rental. Lucy needs this surgery, as she has been very uncomfortable with this cherry eye exposed. Long term it affects her eye's lubrication.

Attleboro, MA

Henry is a three year old Golden Retreiver, rescued through Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue in MA. He was a patient at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, and we took him home to foster him after a previous surgery at OSVS and he bonded very quickly with our other golden retreiver, Charlie. Henry absolutely loves his brother, as well as his favorite kitty lurchy, and his new baby sister - Abigail❤️ Henry is a social butterfly who looks up to his big brother Charlie - they do everything together! He is very active and loves to hike through the woods. He adores his new baby, Abigail, and is such an important part of our family - the household dynamic here is not the same without him and we are missing him dearly this week…. Henry is so friendly and outgoing. He loves when his family comes home and cries and whimpers out of excitement so loud every time, whether we were gone for five minutes or five hours! He loves to carry a flip flop in his mouth - he has his own pair - he needs something in his mouth when he is excited! He is always by his big brothers side and loves to rest his head on Charlie whenever he can. Henry is a patient of the Internal Medicine Team at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists - we thought it was his auto immune disease acting up, but we found foreign material in his stomach and intestines that was making him sick, and he needed emergency surgery. Just when we thought he was coming home, he developed a septic abdomen and this morning we were told he needs to go back to surgery… Our family just welcomed a new baby (the non fuzzy kind!) and we are still adjusting to having a newborn, Abigail, at home. We were not expecting the second surgery for Henry or the financial responsibility that came along with it…we just want him to get better and come home

Ruby

Ruby is a 3-year-old Doberman in Brooklyn, CT, who needs $2,000 for Liver Failure and Esophageal Reflux.

Brooklyn, CT

I got Ruby three years ago as a puppy from a Doberman breeder. She grew up with her sister Nala who came from the same breeder. Five months ago Nala passed at five years old, and now Ruby is sick at only three years old. I dreamed of having a Doberman of each color ever since I was a kid, and I named her Ruby for her beautiful red coat and because I knew she would shine like a ruby. Ruby follows me more closely than my shadow to the point that she has knocked my shoes off the back of my feet. If I have a free hand, it must be on her. Ruby uses me as a pillow nightly, determined to protect me from every nonexistent threat. Her perch is the front window of my house where she can watch everything go by and occasionally growl at it too. She loves car rides with my sons. Ruby loves to play fetch and thinks you should be able to throw the ball without having to give it back. When we go for walks she'll bravely defend me from every squirrel we see. Ruby is a master thief, nabbing animal crackers from my pockets. Ruby will talk your ears off, using her whines, moans, groans, and growls to express herself and believe me, you WILL hear her out. Ruby was rushed to an ER vet on 3/18 for fear of bloat. After 11hrs they found she had a mild case of bloat and undetermined liver problems. After a week of no change and difficulty breathing, another vet visit had us try omeprazole and metoclopramide, with little effect. A third visit with a specialist led to meds to ease swallowing and relax her digestive tract. We hope to see a liver specialist Four years ago I was in an accident where I was struck in the head and got a TBI that left me unable to walk or even speak. I have improved but am still disabled and can't work a regular full time job. My dog is part of my therapy and I would be devastated without her.

My kitty Birdy was born in my garage in May 2007. He was our family kitty but certainty my moms baby until she passed away 3 years ago. I am a single parent Rakifn care of all Birdys health problems alone plus everything else in life. Birdy has had several health problems that require him to go to see his internist weekly or every other week for the last several years. Birdy has been with me through so many ups and downs. Maybe only something true animal lovers can understand. He puts his paws on anyone to pick him up, head buts on the counter to pick him up, rolls on the counter when writing. He will climb on my when I’m laying down and nestle next to me.. He’s just the love of my life. I need to save him. He’s the best temperament and companion. Birdy knows when I’m sad. He will come in my room and let out a big meow. He wakes me up every morning scratching at my door to give him insulin. Lays on the counter next to me when I’m eating dinner. Paws at me to hold his little paw. He has extra ties so has mittens. He just has the best attitude. Meows constantly wants to always be held. Not a mean bone in his body. Birdy has been at Ovean State Veterinary Specialsit for 10 out of the last 14 days. His history is diabetes very hard to regulate, IBD, has one eye other removed few years ago was ruptured, porsssium deficient, early kidney disease. In the last 9 days Birdy has become blocked with urinary obstruction 4 times. His only option is PU surgery to correct this at this point. This expense is sudden and unexpected. I’m a single parent trying to make ends meet as it is. I’ve exhausted all financial options to my name. Birdy has battled through health challenges over the years and I can’t let him go without trying eveythjng possible to save him.

Paisley is a 5-year-old Puggle in Charlestown, RI, who needs $2,000 for surgery.

Charlestown, RI

I moved into a little studio condo at 17. It was so empty and lonely. That's when I decided to get a best friend. Paisley chose me. She came up to me and was climbing all over me giving me kisses. I knew. She was the one. My first baby! Now at 5 years old Paisley has grown into a big sister! She has a 4-year-old kitty cat sister, a 2-year-old human baby, and a 1-year-old doggo sister. She's the absolute sweetest. Dealing with everything from kitty scratches to toys to the head and her much larger little sister roughhousing with her. Paisley has certainly managed to hold her own over the years. She's the sweetest girl ever. Her snuggles make me melt, which by the way is every night!! I think Paisley thinks she shares her bed with me... I let her think that to keep her happy. I am a stay at home mother. When Covid hit I was laid off. I got hired with a company but cannot start for another 5 weeks due to needing the Covid vaccine first. I would give anything to help Paisley. I've already maxed out cards to get her comfy. I can't figure out surgery money. Paisley is currently admitted at Ocean State 24 hour animal hospital. She was hit by a car and now needs a major surgery on her hips. She has many fractures in her pelvic area that they say will heal on their own. Paisley broke her illium which connects her hip to the back. The right side dislocated her hip from her spine. Both sides have other fractures as well but again those will heal. She needs plates. Paisley is the best in every way, shape, or form. (Don't tell her siblings.) She's always the first to come when the baby cries. She's a leader not a follower. If Paisley is chasing something down and someone joins in for the fun she will let you take it and go find something new. Comes in handy with a toddler in the house!

Chloe was given to be by a close friend as she was a turnover at OSVS who was brought as a stray for having seizures from Canine flea and tick product. Chloe became a part of our family 3 years ago. She made a bond with my dog Peanut who had passed away in September of 2019. Chloe came to us with her name and her name definately suits her personality. Chloe is the queen of our house. She spends some time in the windowsills on warm and sunny days. She sleeps with my mom and my daughter at random times of the day/night. Sometimes Chloe will go to the extent of waking up my 61 year old mother by rubbing her face against hers and guiding her to get breakfast. Chloe is the glue to our family. I am a single mother as hard as that is and with our Chloe needing an unexpected surgery to avoid worse I just wasnt prepared at all for this. My funds are beyond limited and I could really use the help. Chloe was diagnosed with IBD and pancreatitis. She had a rechecks with dr. Sarah Crain at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. She had an appt on Thursday of last week to recheck her ultrasound and a mass was found on her spleen that was thought to be cancer. The spleen needed to be removed to avoid it rupturing and her becoming a hemoab. Miranda De La Vaga preformed the splenectomy. Chloe enjoys belly rubs, and catnip. She will lick your face like a dog and make muffins all over you whether you are awake or not. Chloe knows her name and will come when u call her or shake the treat bag of course. She will lay on your paperwork if your trying to do it or on a board game if ur trying to play. She is not a good hunter infact when she catches a mouse she plays with it.

Coventry, RI

MaryAnn D. perused Craigslist one day and spotted a darling dog who needed a new home because of a divorce. She contacted the dog's owners and arranged to meet. She instantly fell in love with the dog, brought him home, and named him Eddie. MaryAnn tells Waggle the former owners promised to send her the dog's medical and vaccination records, but she never got anything. Eddie was a huge hit in MaryAnn's household. Her current dog was thrilled to have a new pal. "They were like old friends," MaryAnn says. "They played walked slept together! Eddie fit in like a hand in a glove. He loves his new family and we love him." Days later, Eddie suddenly got very ill. MaryAnn raced him to Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, where he was diagnosed with Leptospirosis, a virus that can be deadly for dogs but is preventable with a vaccine. "It took over his little 10-pound body and his 100-pound spirit," MaryAnn adds. "His doctor gave him a 50/50 chance of surviving. He is ours now. We promised him he was safe and would be loved for many years to come." MaryAnn is struggling to pay for Eddie's expensive stay in the ICU and is hoping Waggle's giving animal lovers will help her save the sweet dog she took in off Craigslist. "His bloodwork seems to be getting better day by day," MaryAnn says. "The cost is great. We are not rich but are trying to give him a good shot. His doctor is confident after three or four more days in the hospital, he should be stable to come home and make a full recovery, but we need help."

New Bedford, MA

Ace is a two year old mixed that we got from a rescue almost two years ago. We were originally told he was beagle mix but later found out he is Jack Russell, Shetland Sheepdog and Border Collie. He was rescued from Jamaica. He is the best brother to human sister Jasmine and human brother Devin. His best friend is our 3 year old cat named Kit Kat. Ace loves to play fetch and have races with his sister Jasmine. He always wins ❤ He's not very fond of garbage trucks and motorcycles. Ace will charge at the windows trying to get them to stop being so loud. He loves to say hello to everyone by sniffing the bums. Still trying to teach him personal space. Back and forth to emergency vets and all the testing has cost us over 2500 dollars. Unfortunately they are still unsure and we could be going back repeatedly over the next couple of months. This was unexpected and at a very bad time with rent and other bills On Wednesday morning July 28th we woke up and could tell something wasn't right. He wasn't jumping around and looked very lethargic. We brought him originally to the er and was told his vitals were fine and to see his regular vet. Regular vet took blood work said everything was fine just white blood cells were slightly elevated. At this time we still are unsure whats wrong. Lot more I could say Ace is just an all around loving dog that has brought so much joy to our home. He loves to cuddle and hog the bed at night. He's silly and always makes us laugh. His favorite toy is a cats toy mouse. He stold that from Kit Kat when we first brought him home and two years later still plays with it all the time. Just not since he's been sick.

Providence, RI

Malvolio is a rescue who had a pretty rough start to life. He was dropped off at a high-kill shelter in Kentucky when he was not even a couple weeks old before being shipped Great Escape Rescue in Warwick, Rhode Island. He developed a sinus infection when he was young that dramatically impacted his illness today. Malvolio is a little love bug who LOVES people, almost with no discretion at all. He has a lot of energy and he loves to play with anything that moves, especially toes and fingers! His favorite spot is on my shoulder, even though he is getting far too big to fit there. Anyone that comes into my home, new or familiar, is a new friend. He is a snuggler and loves to be close. Easy story-- I still am struggling twenty-five year old who loves her baby. I have spent thousands already just trying to eliminate possibilities of what is wrong with him, that I can't afford to fix the problem now that we finally have come to the bottom of it. Malvolio has had sinus issues since I got him at two months old. The rescue owner told me that he had a sinus infection and she expected it to clear up as he was medicated. However, the infection created thick scarring tissue in his sinuses, closing them almost completely. He has a Surgery planned at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists and the treating vet is Rebecca Kessler. Despite the fact that Malvolio suffers from sinus issues, he LOVES to talk. He LOVES to play, but overall the best thing about him is that he LOVES love. He loves to give kisses and snuggle on your face, which sometimes can get gross because his nose is always leaking because of his sinus issues. Despite his breathing issues, he loves to zoom all over the house.

He gets to run around outside with her and is happy to have another dog in the house to show him around. We just got Durk two weeks ago, but we know he loves to play tug of war and run around the yard. He is also a big cuddle bug, always right beside me every night. He loves to be around people and get all of the love and attention that they can give. Durk has been the perfect addition to our family. Before my dog Remy passed, we had spent around $10,000 to figure out what was wrong with him and to try to treat him. We never found out what exactly was the problem, but after all of that, and him suffering, we ended up putting him down and letting him rest. Durk has been diagnosed with parvovirus and needed immediate attention after he had thrown up blood and had not wanted to eat. When he arrived to the hospital he had a temperature of 105 and was showing signs of some kind of infection/virus. Taylor Lafountain, DVM at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists have begun treating him and he will need to stay there for 3-4 days with medicine to recover. Durk is still new, but he has been trying to mimic what our other dog does, especially when she is looking out the window or walking around the yard.

Adeline is a 7-year-old American Shorthair in Warren, RI, who needs $1,999 for Left ventral bulla osteotomy (VBO).

Warren, RI

Our family adopted Adeline when she was 2 years old from a local animal shelter. The shelter had many kittens available to adopt, and the majority of the families looking to adopt were hovering over these young kittens. As we continued to make our way around the shelter, we discovered quiet, innocent, shy Adeline sitting in the back of the shelter by her lonesome. We couldn't resist! For a couple of years, Adeline continued to be her shy self hiding in closets and found places in the house away from both of us. Day by day, year by year, this began to change and although it took a couple of yers, Adeline is not eating dinner at the table with us, busy jumping off of tables, and even interacting in our zoom classes that we attend and teach. She now never leaves our side! As 2 teachers during covid, this has been one hell of a time. Although we have done our best, we have not expected to accrue any of these ongoing vet bills that have quickly come about & her quality of life has been our #1 priority. We are grateful for any support. Two years ago I was wrongly advised to put Adeline down as a result of poor judgement from a prior vet. Thankfully we got another opinion, & learned a couple of years later that Adeline's on-going ear troubles have been a result of her needing to have part of her ear canal removed. We luckily found Ocean State Animal Hospital in EG, RI & cannot be more grateful for Dr. Sweet & Dr Kessler. Adeline has many special characteristics. Given that neither of us have ever owned a cat prior to her, we have come to speak cat as a result of Adeline's routine and how she beautifully speaks to us with her eyes. She refuses to eat without coming to say thank you to each of us first, she does not eat alone, she thanks us for her treats and toys prior to jumping in, & is an overall love bug!

We were her foster family and when she came back to us after being returned, we knew that she was meant to be with us forever. We followed our hearts and adopted Sparrow. Sparrow is loved by everyone in our family as well as our friends. She plays with her older adopted sisters and loves to run around in the yard. Sparrow enjoys snuggling with us and sleeps with me every night. We lost our last adopted puppy to distemper and Sparrow has brought joy back into our hearts. I am a single, working mom that just doesn't have 2000 to pay for Sparrows surgery. Without the surgery, Sparrow would have died. I work very hard and after paying my monthly bills, I just don't have the extra cash. Sparrow had diarrhea for a while. Then started to have the shivers and was throwing up. I took her to my vet who did an xray and noticed something in her intestines. We rushed over to Ocean State Vet right away where they found that she had Intussusception which required emergency surgery. They had to cut out a portion of her intestines to fix the problem. Sparrow is a super cuddler. She has a great personality. She helps keep the younger foster puppies in line and out of trouble. She is the best big sister to them. He became sick 2 weeks ago, we took him to a clinic, then rushed him to the emergency veterinary hospital and they told us he doesn’t qualify for emergency treatment. We took him home. Yesterday, his situation got bad, and he’s been diagnosed with kidney infection. He’s a very loving dog to all members of my family. One of my kids has a medical condition, and Ace has being her therapy pet and helps her to relax when she goes through her issues. She would be very lost without having Ace around. Also, the rest of the family would miss him if anything happens. To him, he is our first dog and we don’t own another one. Presently I have some of my working hours cut down since COVID 19 started. I’ve being struggling financially. I would love to have Ace get better and would not like to lose him. He’s presently at Ocean State Veterinary Hospital in Rhode Island. Ace has been a very healthy dog all this time. He loves to play with toys that have sounds, he makes everyone laugh every time he plays with the toys. He also has this attentive characters, he could hear your car car coming up the while he was in the room, he would run out in the living room waiting for you to come inside, he sometimes jumps on the living room couch waiting for you to come inside.
