Emmy Trujillo

Emmy Trujillo is a 10 year old Rat Terrier in Chicago, IL, who needs $950 for Cardiology Consultation/Evaluation of Heart Murmur.

Chicago, IL

10 years ago, Emmy was rehomed and became part of my family. From the moment her cage door opened & she ran up to me, we formed an unbreakable bond. She has been by my side through my hardest moments, offering unconditional love, comfort, and companionship. Emmy isn't only my dog- she is family, my best friend, and almost my entire heart. She has never given up on me or herself. Emmy is a fighter. She was seen at VCA Animal Hospital for a limp and leg pain but referred to MedVet for a Cardiology evaluation after a heart murmur was detected before proceeding with X-rays. There's a chance it's a CCL tear and arthritis. She cannot walk properly. Emmy was only seen before for having enlarged lymph nodes, once under her neck, and they resolved completely 2 years ago. She's otherwise been healthy For over a decade, Emmy has been the heart of my family. She adores our children, loves making friends, and greets us like we've been gone for years, even after 10 minutes. She's gentle, affectionate, endlessly loving, and fiercely protective of her family--even getting upset when she thinks we're hurting. From cuddling under blankets to making us laugh every day, Emmy is far more than a pet to me Financial help would mean giving Emmy more time to live the happy life she loves, and I want to be there for her now too. While I recover in a wheelchair from my own leg injury, I dream of the day we will watch each other heal and can walk and run side by side again.

Segal is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Evanston , IL, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Removal of Both Lower Eyelid Masses.

Evanston, IL

Hello everyone. My name is Jim, and I am reaching out to you today on behalf of my absolute hero: a beautiful 10-year-old Boxer-Beagle mix named Seadopted Segal four years ago, and from the moment we met, I knew he had a heart of gold. Segal isn't just my pet and best friend—he is my lifeline. Because of my physical disability, I rely on a motorized wheelchair to navigate life, as my service dog. Segal has developed abnormal tissue masses on both of his lower eyelids. Most eyelid masses in dogs are fortunately benign (non-cancerous), but they cause severe irritation and rubbing against his eyes every time he blinks.Because Segal is a senior dog at 10 years old, keeping his eyes healthy and clear is critical for him to continue safely working as my service dog. If left untreated, these mass He has a heart of gold. He loves all humans including other dogs including cats. He can be protective to those that he knows and loves. He's highly intelligent knows all commands and constantly making sure that I'm happy when I'm feeling down from my chronic pain. Now he's needing your help Living on a fixed disability income makes an unexpected $2,000 veterinary expense impossible to manage alone. Segal has dedicated his life to helping me move through the world in my wheelchair. It breaks my heart to see him in discomfort while performing his duties.

Alana is a 7 month old Maltese in Chicago , IL, who needs $6,000 for Displaced Distal Radius and Ulna Surgery.

Chicago, IL

We were lonely empty nesters. We can’t have anymore children so we decided to get Alana. It was love at first site! We got her at 3 months old. She is a maltipoo. Sweet baby of ours. Alana is our precious 7-month-old matipoo puppy and the first dog our family has ever had. She has brought so much joy and love into our lives, and we can't imagine our home without her. Recently, Alana suffered a terrible accident—she fell from our second floor window ledge, breaking her front leg and injuring her head. She was in a lot of pain, and it was heartbreaking to see her suffer. She is the most loving dog ever. She waits for us at the door when we arrive. She sleeps with us on the bed. And is with us on the sofas as well. We would take her out for walks and everywhere with us. We didn’t realize how expensive pets can be. It was an honest mistake and frankly we can’t afford her leg surgery. She has a displaced distal radius and left ulna. She is a strong dog. She currently has a splint but that’s just a temporary solution. It’s a $5k to $6k surgery

He is currently resting comfortably while we desperately seek the funding needed for his critical surgical care. Countryside Veterinary Center and MedVet Chicago have diagnosed Milo with a perineal hernia. Currently, he is struggling to go to the bathroom due to his hernia. Milo is not just a dog. Milo's sudden perineal hernia diagnosis is devastating and unexpected. His repair surgery is estimated to cost $11,000. My sweet 8-year-old boy is my entire world. Please help my best friend. Segal is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Evanston , IL, who needs $500 for Eye Specialist.

Evanston, IL

Hello, my name is James Johnson and I am reaching out to my community for urgent help for my best friend and lifeline, Segal. I am a disabled individual living in Chicago, and I rely on a motorized wheelchair for my daily mobility. Four years ago, I adopted Segal, a wonderful Boxer/Beagle mix who is 10 years old now. Segal has a heart of gold and an incredible, natural intuition—he always knows ex Tragically, Segal is now facing a serious health crisis. He has been diagnosed with a large, roughly 1-centimeter tumor (growth) on his lower right eyelid margin (ventral eyelid/lateral canthus), and the veterinarian noted an additional developing issue in his other eye. Because of the complex nature of eye tumors, we have been urgently referred to a specialist at Eye Care for Animals on Roscoe St Segal has been through a lot wondering the streets of Chicago and CACC had rescued him and I adopted him we have saved each other. He has a heart of Gold capable of reading individuals and dogs knowing that they require comfort and will approach them laying down next to them. I desperately need to raise exactly $500.00 for an initial exam, which includes the eye exam with one of our two board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists, a fluorescein stain to check the corneal surface, an intraocular pressure check, and a tear production check is $372. The remaining balance will naturally go towards his prescribed medication and blood work if necessary. If we use Waggle, please know that every dollar raised goes directly to Good Vets Evanston.

Cicero, IL

I didn’t think the most perfect dog existed until I met my Lilah. A friends backyard accident, her English bulldog was hanging out and next thing you know she’s pregnant, dad is not really known but we think it may be a blue heeler/border collie. Regardless a blessing, Texas raised and now Chicago living. She was born to be a winter girly. 6 years of pure joy and shedding snuggles. She is currently being diagnosed for possible Lymphoma cancer, she has all the symptoms and just keeps getting worse as she does not even have an appetite. We Started at summit animal hospital for affordable testing but currently had to admit her to MedVet as she grew a lump over night that was hurting her to a point she couldn’t even stand or walk to pee had to be carried out. She is literally the perfect example of Lazy and Active and a people pleaser. If I want to sleep in she’s down if I want to go on run or long walk she’s down if I want to play fetch she’s down(until her English bulldog in her kicks in and runs out of breath) Just the sweetest girl. Such an attention seeker in a good way especially with the most softest fur out there. Truly one of a kind. My ex and I have had her since she was 4 months after we split he kept her, spent 2 years without her and was able to get her back last year & I can’t lose her again due to these expensive treatments to get her back to her normal playful happy self. I can’t afford it alone

Chicago, IL

Domino is an indoor-only cat who lives with us in Chicago and is a deeply loved member of my family. She became critically ill without warning and required emergency ICU care and blood transfusions. She is now home recovering, and we're doing everything possible to support her healing. I am seeking assistance due to the overwhelming and unexpected cost of this medical emergency & future treatment. Our sweet Domino has been diagnosed with IMHA, a serious disease where her immune system is attacking her own red blood cells. She’s already needed multiple blood transfusions and is now on strong medications to help her fight. IMHA is treatable but requires constant monitoring and ongoing care. We’re doing everything we can for her and appreciate any support & love during this difficult times. Domino is special because she has the perfect mix of sweet and spicy in her personality. She is incredibly affectionate and loving, but also confident and expressive. She enjoys being close to us, following us around the house, and curling up nearby. Her unique personality brings so much joy, comfort and laughter into our home, and she is a deeply cherished member of our family. This was an unexpected expense, and we’ve already exhausted our savings and credit cards. Seeing Domino healthy again would mean the world to us and bring hope and relief during this very stressful time.

India

India is a 8 year old Mix-Breed in Chicago, IL, who needs $1,500 for X-rays, Urine Test, Sedation and Medications.

Chicago, IL

We adopted India from a friend who described her as the “runt of the litter”. She was small, and at first our Mom was unsure, saying “I can’t even see her! She’s just like a small dark blur!” But she soon became the star of the family, beloved by us all. She had more fluffy beds, and nice toy boxes than I had at times! The vet at Animal Advocate Pet hospital revealed she had hip dysplasia scoliosis and a torn ACL in the past that was causing arthritis. They also noticed a mass. A specialist predicted that she has Osteosarcoma. Unfortunately, we do not have the means to cover the expenses for the next steps, including pain management, the biopsy/blood work, and any future potential services she would need. India came into our family to give Mom something to care for, and she quickly became everyone’s joy. Anyone who meets her falls in love. She adores affection, long walks sniffing every inch, and supervising the kitchen. She watches the window like a tiny guard, greeting passersby and protesting deliveries. She’s truly the glue of our family. No one decides when it’s time to go. India just turned 8 and is entering her senior years. With treatment, we hope for more time and comfort. Our family lives on a fixed income, and any help would mean precious extra time with a deeply loved member of our home.

Emmie is a 11 year old Shih Tzu in Chicago, IL, who needs $7,000 for Biopsy.

Chicago, IL

Emmie has been the center of our family since we adopted her in Dallas back in 2016. She was found on the streets of Amarillo Texas with her two puppies, and has been the perfect pup as we've moved across the country to multiple cities, eventually landing in Chicago for the last six years. In early January, Emmie got into some trash and developed acute pancreatitis. While treating that issue, blood testing revealed that Emmie has many more underlying issues with her liver that have gone undetected. After spending over $5,000 with our primary vet (GoodVets), we've been referred to MedVets Animal Hospital for additional diagnostics estimated around $7,000. Emmie brings joy every where she goes. Her sweet face is so infectious that when we walk down the street, we can see peoples faces light up at the sight of her. I can't believe something so small can bring so much joy just by existing. She's nothing short of perfect to us and everyone she meets. We have done our best to cover her recent vet bills, but we are at our limit and still don't have an official diagnosis. This feeling is heartbreaking and all we want to do is get her better. A surgical biopsy will give us the answers we need, but we simply can't afford it.

Hank

Hank is a 10 year old Golden Retriever in Chicago, , who needs $2,000 for IV Antibiotics, Fluids, and Potential Surgery.

Chicago

Hank has been a part of our lives since we first became a couple 11 years ago. While we were long distance, Abigail was gifted our sweet boy by her dad when he was just a puppy. He has been here through college, med school, multiple moves, and now residency. He’s the rock that holds us and our three other dogs and cat together (and even tolerates snuggles from foster cats and dogs alike). On 9/4, he vomited and began having terrible coughing fits. We immediately took him to urgent care, where they found he had aspirated on his vomit causing pneumonia, and also had signs of a developing obstruction from scarring from a prior bowel surgery in 2018. He is admitted to MedVet Chicago for IV fluids, antibiotics, and breathing treatments, & may need surgery for his obstruction. Anyone who knows Hank will tell you he’s special. Our sweet gentle giant loves nothing like he loves hugs, snuggles, and a good tennis ball. He carries around jumbo stuffed animals like they are his babies. He has been our emotional rock through every difficult moment, immediately sensing when you’re upset and slamming down for a full body hug. At 10, he’s never lost his puppy-like spirit. As a resident doctor, Julia works 60-80 hours a week at minimum wage. Adding the student debt we both have and lasting strains on work opportunities after graduating in 2020, this is a huge hit. Additionally, we’ve incurred more expenses as fosters rescuing Chicago’s strays.

Cherry is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Chicago, IL, who needs $2,000 for X-Rays and Echogram for HCM/CHF.

Chicago, IL

I adopted Cherry back in Atlanta around August of 2020 and she has been with me since. We have made our move from Atlanta to Chicago in December 2021, and we have lived together until recent, where I got a baby brother for her in April 2025. A few days ago, Cherry had an episode of not eating (she loves to eat), using the bathroom, and vomiting bile. I rushed her to MedVet Chicago, where she stayed there for 2 nights. She was diagnosed with Stage C of HCM, showing signs of CHF. Last year, she had an echogram due to a heart murmur but did not show signs of HCM and CHF, so it has got worse. Cherry is a people-social cat. She is not afraid and loves to meet new people. Everyone that ever meets her says shes the sweetest girl. She got used to her baby brother and is excited to be a big sister, playing with him all the time. She acts dorky and goofy at times, but she also has a tender heart, showing so much love for me and her baby brother cat. I never expected something like this to happen to Cherry. I thought she would grow up with me until she became 20 years old. Because of that, I didn't realize how financially demanding an unforeseen emergency could cost, as she spent another day after another.

Despite paralysis, he’s playful, especially when chasing the cats. He vocalizes when things aren’t just right and keeps the home full of life. He’s deeply bonded, affectionate, and always finds ways to show joy and resilience I’ve spent over $7,000 on Sparta’s care, but this second emergency surgery is more than I can afford alone. We are seeking surgery for his legs, as well as removal of the growth mass on his groin. Although it has not been truly diagnosed as cancer because we have not had the funds to get the treatment, we were told by a neurologist to get tested before doing surgery. Zeus loves to swim. He is an active dog who loves to run and play. His favorite season is winter, when he can play in the snow for hours. He takes long walks and loves to befriend the smaller dogs in the neighborhood as his little friends. He has so many toys, but his favorites are tennis balls and stuffed animals. I lost my job. We’re facing a move while struggling to cover our dog’s unexpected medical costs. Despite financial strain, we’re doing all we can, but we need help. His care is costly, making it hard to get by. He lived with us at our family home before I took him to Chicago with me while my father recovers from kidney failure. However, through this rehab process, I have brought Rocky back home to dedicate as much time to him as possible. On 1/7, our beloved Rocky woke up unable to move his back legs. In a state of panic and heartbreak, we rushed him to the MedVet ER, where we received devastating news: Rocky had Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), which, if left untreated, may lead to complete paralysis. The damage to his nerves was progressing rapidly and we were left with no choice but surgery. Rocky loves everyone he meets. He is highly energetic and affectionate. In the house, he makes sure to provide love to each person equally. He loves playing with his toys and going on long walks. He has an unconditional love for his family and friends. The surgery cost nearly $12,000 and has left our family with a significant financial burden. While the cost was high, we could not bear losing him at such a young age. My father has kidney failure and Rocky brings support to us all during such a stressful and costly time.

Chicago, IL

Hey all, I'm Chloe's mom. She came into my life when I was just 9 years old as a gift, and oh she has been such a special gift ever since. She is 12, will be 13 in March. She's living with my boyfriend and I, separated from the other two cats because she doesn't like them, but she's perfectly content on her own and is just such a happy kitty, a cuddly lovey girl who's been with me through it all ❤ Recently she has been very itchy on her backside and ears, but what needs to be addressed at the moment is her lack of wanting to use the litterbox. She hasn't peed all day, because we won't let her pee on the bed, I'm scared that there's a blockage or something more serious going on. The hospital I want to take her to, Medvet in IL, wants $198 for an eval plus whatever she may need for treatment. She hates other cats but that just makes her my special girl. We snuggle so close every night, she lays on my neck/chest and we can't do without each other. She loves my boyfriend as if he were there since day 1 and he loves her just the same. She's very vocal, always demanding attention and wanting to tell me about her day. She loves Friskies and soft treats, and of course she loves catnip. I lost my job back in July and have been putting in applications ever since. My boyfriend works but he's working so hard to provide for us that he can't take care of the vet expenses himself. Chloe being healthy again would mean the world to us, we want our daughter okay 🥹❤

Sushi came to us when we were going through a very hard time. Her dad and me had gone on vacation to get away from life a bit. Our first stop was in Frankfort, about 5/6 hrs out. That’s where we met Sushi. She was staying at a motel and her previous owners couldn’t keep her anymore. They were staying in room 111 I will never forget that. God and his angels literally brought her to our life. Just how God brought her into our life, He truly was with her last night, I had ran to the store and I assume she tried to follow me. When I arrived back literally no later than 10/15 minutes and she was gone. We were looking all over for her when we were informed she got hit by a car. We are blessed she is still alive but needs urgent hip surgery; they are estimating 3k to 7k. Sushi is a unique soul Truly no other dog like her She extremely attached to her father and I She literally has to come with us everywhere. She gets attention from everyone Anyone who meets her immediately falls in love. Sushi is a baby, she loves to swaddled after bath time. She even attempts to speak with us with her little squeaks and squeals. Our baby knows we needed her more than she needs us Sushi needs this surgery to get her left hip back into place. We covered $2500 for the emergency vet visit, but the surgery alone is 3k to 7k and we do not have that kind of money. He is part of a big family between his humans, Justin and Renee (mom & dad), Dru [17] & Benny [11] (his human brothers) and his fur siblings Rosie, Della and Remy. WE LOVE THIS GUY MORE THAN WORDS CAN DESCRIBE! He loves movie night, walks, car rides and cuddling. My wife was driving down the highway with Loki like she has countless times before (if she doesn't take him he whines and jumps up and bites her butt) when Loki jumped out of the car window at 55mph and was run over by another car. We rushed Loki to the emergency vet where they were able to stabilize him but he needs a neurologist and orthopedic surgeon. Otherwise he will have to be put to sleep. This dog saved my life during a medical emergency by getting peoples attention while I laid unconscious. I CAN NOT let him die without doing everything I can in my power to help him. I can't stand to see my family in this kind of pain and I have no idea what to do. I've never asked anyone for financial help before but I'm setting my pride aside because this little guy is everything to us. Please.. Getting a loan to cover this isn't possible, I've tried. Within the last week, I drained my retirement so I could pay off all of my debt and credit card bills. Pippin

Pippin is a 6-month-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Chicago, IL, who needs $2,000 for Surgery.

Chicago, IL

I live with my sister in an apartment in Chicago, and we decided to adopt a pair of kittens after her cat passed due to a mass in his pancreas. Pippin was part of a litter that was found and brought to Paws Chicago for care and was about three months old when we adopted him and his brother, Milo. Pippin is such a sweet lap kitten. Any time one of our laps is available, he's there chirping at us to be let up. He lives to run and jump - he even made it on top of the cabinets above our fridge! And Pip has a lot of beds - my computer chair, a cardboard cat carrier, our laps, plus occasionally the cushions I set up to be his actual bed - but he really loves sleeping curled up with his brother. Pippin, despite having so many toys, loves playing with little scraps of trash. He'll take strips of plastic torn from resealable bags, carry them around in his mouth, and suddenly flop over and start kicking them. He also has this habit of chasing his tail any time he's not occupied with something else. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's him slowly turning in circles and swatting at his tail. On Pippin's 6-month birthday, he suddenly started vomiting. I took him to the MedVet because our primary vet couldn't see him that day. Turns out he had an intussusception, which means part of his intestine folded over on itself. It's life-threatening, so after a night of fluids and an ultrasound to confirm, he went into surgery. Dr. Shnable and Dr. Galley were really great at keeping us updated. The total cost we're looking at is $10,500 - $11,500 according to the estimate I was given. We have pet insurance but are still within the waiting period for illness. I also recently lost my job, so our financial situation was already precarious. Any help is appreciated.

Mila was a healthy and happy dog until 10 days ago when she started showing stomach problems with diarrhea and vomiting. We took her to the hospital to check what was going wrong, thinking it was just a silly infection, but after 24 hours we needed to hospitalize ina critical her and now she is fighting for her life! More than just a pet, mila is family. She fills our home with laughter, licks away our worries, and reminds us what unconditional love truly means. She is the sweetest, kinder and most caring and kind dog ever. She has a sixth sense for cuddles. No matter how tangled on the couch we become, her fluffy presence is a haven of comfort and she is the sweetest dog. Mila has a severe inflammation in her stomach, Doctor Cohen from MedVet don't know exactly why yet (it could be a severe ulcer, cancer or something else) and she is literally fighting for her life as vets mentioned she is aseptic due to her sever inflammation. She is taking 3 different antibiotics, she is taking medicines to maintain her blood pressure and blood sugar. We have already spent more than $13,000 in a week and we don't know how we will pay for our credit cards in the following month as we don't have the resources to cover it, but Mila is family and we will fight for her and won't let her down!

Lucy

Lucy is a 11-year-old Domestic Medium Hair Cat in Portage, IN, who needs $2,000 for Echocardiogram & CT Scans.

Portage, IN

Lucy is a rescue my family took in about five years ago. She was so stressed in her environment that she lost her hair. We found she spent most of her life in the care of an older woman who passed away. She was sent to a shelter and adopted by a family that wasn't a good fit. We saw her living conditions and took action by adopting Lucy into our Family. She had been a wonderful part of our family Lucy has been through a lot and has always been temperamental since we met her. She has a few family favorites she likes to run to for a snuggle occasionally. She enjoys her spot on the couch and cat tower, and we make it a point to keep them just for her because she does not like to hang out with the other cats. Lucy enjoys catnip, pipe cleaners, and milk-flavored treats! Lucy has a hot and cold personality. We have always noticed she does what she wants and will refuse your company if she chooses, but when she is in the mood for a cuddle, it's like every vital plan for the day means nothing, and I would ignore it all for her attention. She has had a hard life, so I feel connected to her in that way, and I want to make her time with us happy. Lucy was diagnosed with a melting ulcer by Dr. Rudman at Coyne Vet that turned out to be cancer diagnosed by Mark Byrum at MedVet in Chicago. They removed her eye and, in the process, found that she had arrhythmia of the heart. We need to treat her heart by doing an extended echocardiogram, and CT scans to search for metastasized cancer through her body. I have always been low-income. I went back to college and can only work part-time, but I come from a family that lives paycheck to paycheck. My mom was willing to nearly max out her care credit card to help me after maxing out my own. We are running out of credit.

Ellie is a 10-year-old Golden Retriever Mix in Mishawaka, IN, who needs $2,000 for Diagnostics & Supportive Care.

Mishawaka, IN

Ellie is the sweetest dog you could ever meet. She lives with her 2 cat siblings and our other dog. She had been re-homed twice before coming to us, at no fault of her own! She is the kindest dog and loves to meet new people. The other dog that Ellie lives with is her daughter, reunited after being apart for 3 years when we rescued her from a rough situation. They are inseparable - they eat together, play together, cuddle together, and we’ve even caught Ellie grooming her sometimes! Even through being re-homed twice, having to join a whole new family, and shortly after, having to get her eye removed after we discovered she had melanoma, she has never stopped being happy and lovable! She likes to play, cuddle, and sing! Ellie has been hospitalized at Medvet in Chicago for the last 5 days and we have done ever test available to find the reason for her symptoms. She’s unable to breath on her own so she’s on oxygen and her bloodwork continues to worsen every day. While we wait on those results, we may need to do more aggressive testing if she keeps getting worse. We have spent every dime we have on her hospitalization, testing, and supplemental treatment but she needs more help. I can’t lose my girl because we can’t afford what she needs. She has been the bright spot in our family and brings us so much joy every day.

Lita is a rescue cat my teen daughter chose for her birthday last year. Lita is family we all love her dearly. Currently it has been 22 months since we adopted her and now she is very I’ll. Lita sleeps anywhere near her human mommy which is my teen daughter. She is obsessed with her they love each other tremendously. Lita u detests de English very well for a cat! Last thanksgiving we were at the dinner table and noticed Lita laying down on the floor. I said Lita come join us for dinner and I grabbed a step ladder for her. She immediately climbed into the seat of the ladder. Lita is so special because she can see orbs. Whenever there are spirits in our home she franctically and playfully tries to chase them even if up high. She is so adorable and fun and brightens our world. She also like to play the hanger game where she tries to catch a sliding hanger from underneath an area rug. Lita started to not eat hardly at all. She also started coughing and gagging a lot. Eventually we took her to South Surburban Humane Society and the low cost xray revealed our worst nightmare. It shows an object stuck inside her throat. It needs to be removed via an endoscope however we can’t afford the cost. I am divorced and underemployed. I hold a college degree and 30.000 in student loans. I make minimum wage on my job which doesn’t stretch very far..

Lucky is a 2-year-old Shitzu Mix in Cicero, IL, who needs $2,000 for Gastrointestinal/Salivary Issues that Constantly Irritate his Throat and Put his Breathing at Risk.

Cicero, IL

I rescued Lucky form the streets of Chicago. He is a Shitzu Mix and lives with me alone in the suburbs. I am a senior Veteran and Lucky is my best companion asI live alone. I have limited income resources and will require additional funding to sustain his medical care which I manage on my own with social security as my main source of income. Living alone with Lucky provides me with a reliable companion in my senior years. We both have chronic health issues and without him I would face medical challenges on my own. With Lucky I can see how his quality of life is enhanced with his monthly medical treatments and restores him to a healthy and loving pet and companion. Lucky has a proud little peppy strut he exhibits as he walks. He like to wake me from my nap when it's time for his feeding. He knows which buttons to push to ask for affection or when he's under stress from his re-occurring health conditions. Lucky has required medical attention since the day I rescued him. One clinic has already exhausted all their treatment options for his gastrointestinal/salivary issues that constantly irritate his throat and put his breathing at risk. He is currently seen by MedVet where he has had two emergency procedures to clear his airway. The veterinary team is sustaining him as long as I can sustain his life. I am a Vietnam Era Veteran and senior citizen who lives on social security as my main source of income. Having Lucky's health managed with his monthly meds and treatments provide me with a loving and cheerful pet that brings me joy and companionship more than I hope for.

We rescued Winnie at 8 weeks old from a puppy mill breeder in Illinois. Winnie is a member of the family and it is very heart breaking to see her in this condition. She can no longer walk which is causing anxiety amongst other issue (incontinence, rash, uti's. Winnie has IVDD and the surgery cost 12,000, which is very unaffordable. We do not want to euthanize our pet and we dont her suffering. My children are so heart broken to see their family member in pain and it further makes it hard for me and my husband. Winnie comes from love and we have to watch her go through this condition everyday. She is a great family pet and great for my anxiety. My dog is special because she is an emotional support dog for me. I have suffered from anxiety since the passing of my son Kendall and having Winnie has helped me tremendously. My children love Winnie dearly and she brings us all such joy. WInnie loves to snuggle and give doggie kisses to everyone she meets. My dog has IVDD which can be cured with surgery of her disc in the back. I took her to a neurologist amongst other visits. We had to try medication because surgery was is too expensive. The medicine is not improving her condition and now she is suffering from other conditions because of the IVDD. My husband also got hurt at work so we are down to one income. This economy and grocery are sky high, which has taken away all emergency money. The children are on the way back to school, so all money has to go towards education at this point.

Since we got Obito it has definitely been a challenge. Obito also has a 2yro brother named Sasuke who he also cuddles with! Obito is such a loveable cat. He loves to lay and take naps with us and he’s always in a mood to snack! His favorite snack is whip cream, he loves to play and run around, and he loves to play and bother our 2yro cat. He’s been such a fun cat and is always full of love! He also is a super chatty cat that communicates with us whenever he is in need of something. Obito Is a clumsy, clingy cat who just melts my heart, he always wants to be noticed, and is always the life of the party. Usually when he running around the house he’s going so fast that he slide all over the house, it can be quite funny. He loves to follow mom around the house to see what she’s doing all day. Since we got Obito he was showing signs of seizures and was already getting them as early as 2 months. We went to recently to our veterinarian and they had said that Obitos liver was failing him and that he would need surgery. As of now Obito is on medication that will help stop the seizures and to help regulate his liver a bit but still will be needing the surgery. I take care of my family and also am a home care taker for my mother. Obito is a part of the family and we love him so much. If I had the money I wouldn’t be here asking now but I am and don’t have the proper means to be able to save Obito.

Buddy came into our lives at the perfect time. We acquired him in mid October of last year. He was 4 months old at the time. He is the sweetest little bug, and very affectionate. He would cuddle up up right next you. Mom came up with the name buddy. He settled in right away and claimed his spot in the house which is cute. Very playful and so alive and that has given out home beautiful energy. He is very playful. Loves big chew toys and loves tossing them around. He loves walking and likes running around in our backyard. He's friendly and loves the attention from people and people instantly love him because of his loving energy and cuteness. He loves his grandma which is my mom. He loves his sister which is my daughter. Buddy knows when I'm having a bad day. He will walk up to me a place his head on my lap letting me know that everything is ok. There is something about him that attracts everyone he is around with. He is something special. I believe my dog lulu from heaven sent me this baby boy in our life. He definitely follows you around wanting to see what you're up to. My dog has had a reoccurring issue with his urethra. He has a urethra prolapse. He needs surgery to get that repaired which will be a second time. He had the same surgery in February along with the neutering which I was told it would prevent the reoccurrence. But because of his type of breed it occurs often in bully breeds. He has a week timeframe to have this surgery done because of the bleeding I lost my job of 14 years when buddy had his surgery back in February. It was a rough emotional month and I've tried my best to remain calm through all of it. I'm unemployed at the moment and I unfortunately can't afford this surgery and I feel very overwhelmed

Captain, who was named after a dear family friends beloved dog, was born on June 6th 2022. He was the newest addition to our family. He was a surprise to the wife, as a gift celebrating our 1 year anniversary in our new home. Captain is a half brother to our other four legged family member Tucker. In the course of three short weeks Captain has made a huge impact on the family we love him dearly. He has been such a joy for our other dog Tucker. They bonded instantly and love to play all day. Where ever Tucker goes Captain is sure to follow. When its time to relax Captain is always ready to plop down and cuddle with the wife. Captain being just a puppy of three months has us in complete awe. There's nothing cuter than his sweet innocent puppy face. Watching him interact with his brother Tucker is a real delight. For such a small dog he thinks real big of himself when playing with his older brother, snatching toys from tucker and running to the small hiding place. Its a real David Vs Goliath kind of play. 9/10/22, Captain was taken to the emergency vet but he needed to be transported to a specialist (Medvet in Chicago) to have an ultrasound done to get a diagnosis. We are awaiting results from a leptospirosis test. Captain has been receiving fluids and medication along with room and board at the facility. He has a 80% chance at survival as long as we can keep providing for the next 5 days. It has been an unexpected turn of events for our puppy Captain, We have given all we can give, with little funds left to carry on. We want Captain to live the life he deserves, the one we know we can provide. It would be a blessing for some help. thank you. much love.

Scruffs is a 10-year-old Yorkie- Shih Tzu in Chicago, IL, who needs $1,250 for Left Lateral Suture Repair.

Chicago, IL

When I was in the market for a puppy I saw one ad with a cute picture of five puppies that looked all different! It reminded me of my sisters and I. That is where I found Scruffs! My scrappy Shih Tzu, Yorkie mix! He has been in my life since he was 8 weeks old. He is now 10 years old and currently resides with me (and my mom sometimes) in Chicago,IL! Raising Scruffs is a fantastic journey and I am so happy that he keeps me on my toes. A favorite among my siblings and mom he is a feisty and stubborn little guy. He loves to show off for people and perform tricks since we are his preferred company. We adopted his brother as well and when they are in each other's company, they have a passionate sibling rivalry. Scruffs is a amazing cuddle bug and loves to snuggle with anyone watching TV or sitting on the couch. His favorite shows are Forensic Files & Storage Wars! He is extremely energetic and loves to play. His favorite being swimming with the ball or chasing after the ball so I can chase him. I bring him everywhere I can so this babe has an intense case of FOMO. (fearing of missing out) Scruffs is a little guy he weights about 14 to 15 pounds and is very active. Unfortunately he has snapped his CCL. Which is a crucial knee ligament. This causes his thigh bone and his shin bone to rub together with no support. I now believe he has damaged both of them. MedVet an emergency veterinarian hospital has an expert surgeon there named Dr. Krier. I recently acquired steady employment after two years of uncertainty about my future due to Covid. My mom lost her job due to an auto accident in 8.21 and I help her out financially as well. Scruffs means everything to me and I would love to see him a running again. Thanks.

Wilmette, IL

Boris (original name Buddha) came to me from another home. He struggled during his time there getting along with another cat. Poor guy came to me with a number of health issues most of which we were able to address! He now is the only house pet and he is loving it! It's just him and I in my townhouse and he loves running up and down the staircase, looking out the window and exploring every corner! Despite health issues, he is the HAPPIEST, CUDDLIEST little guy. He loves to play and climb on his cat tower. He loves to cuddle and get his scratchies! He usually follows me around my house and generally likes to be in the same part of the house as his human. He loves to sleep across me sometimes the WHOLE night. The best feeling is waking up with the little fluff laying on me. He's a major goof! I am a single cat mama on a fixed income that wants the best for her baby. I'm sure pet parents understand. While there are less expensive options that I can accommodate, I wanted to see if I can get financial assistance to be able to provide a permanent solution for Boris! When Boris came to me, he had an irritation on his tail, a UTI, gum issues and a lot of anxiety. He also needed a tooth extraction. Later, came the eye issues - redness, puffiness, keeping eye closed. After a few visits to his vet: Christensen Animal Clinic and eye specialist: Eye Care for Animals - Chicago, they said it was Entropion and needs surgery to make sure his vision is not impacted. Boris doesn't hiss or growl and has the sweetest meows. Like most cats, he lovesplaying with his toys, but I think what makes him most special is his love for his human family. I have never met a cuddlier cat. He knows who his humans are - even his grandma and grandpa when they visit. He responds most to the Russian phrase "Horoshi Kot" which means good cat and HE IS!!! Yes - he is bilingual!:)

Manny is a 10-year-old Beagle Mix in Chicago , IL, who needs $1,000 for Upper right eyelid mass removal.

Chicago, IL

I adopted Manny when he was around 8 1/2. It was love at first sight. He was able to have a permanent home (after being returned to the shelter multiple times in the previous year). Manny now gets 70-90 minutes of walking each day. He has a rotating batch of toys and he has plenty of humans and other dogs in the neighborhood that he’s become popular with. Everyone always says, “he’s so sweet.” What immediately became clear was how sweet he was and how important his family is. This is especially true with our six year old son. Manny will sleep by his side and likes to be near him whenever they are both home. Manny has his own bed next to his mom and dad and once we get ready for bed each night, he makes sure to make his way to the bedroom. The amount of money required for this procedure was unexpected and out of my price range. Manny means everything to me, knowing he has a tumor that is causing him pain is heartbreaking to me. He has done so much for our family and I just want him to be pain free with family. Manny has nuclear sclerosis and chorioretinal scarring in both eyes. These issues have become exacerbated by a tumor on his eyelid. This is causing irritation in his eyes and needs to be removed. We are seeking treatment from Dr. King at MedVet Chicago at 3305 N. California Ave in Chicago, IL (60618). Manny loves being in the center of the action. When we watch TV, he wants to sit in between us. When we hang out on the back porch, he lays on or by our feet. Whenever we come home he will first cry, and then go get one of his toys. He does this whenever he gets excited. If we’re playing with him and he gets super excited, he’ll go find a toy to play tug of war with.

Porter, IN

Tippy is 1 of 11 cats in our home and out of the 11 there is only 2 we did not bottle feed. Five yrs ago we found Tippy and his 4 siblings abandoned by their mom in our backyard. When we found them they were all sick with a severe uri and required.a lot of medical attention. After months of all night feedings and meds we fell in love. He got his name because he has 1 back toe with a tip of white. Tippy LOVES to cuddle and hug. He wants to curl up and sleep with us at night and wants to be touching us at all times. Tippy, like his siblings, can tell the sound of a treat bag opening from across the house but Greenie's Catnip treats are his favorite. Tippy loves when we play with our hand under the blanket so he can run and pounce on it. He loves to headbutt us when he is happy as he purrs. Unfortunately this was extremely unexpected & very costly. Between the initial medical costs Tippy needs regular vet appts with blood work & ultrasounds. He also needs FIP meds for 12 weeks. Plus we may be losing our only income at the end of the month. Tippy is my furbaby. One night we noticed Tippy was acting funny so we rushed him to Hobart Animal ER. We had x-rays, ultrasounds, & labs done. They told us they suspected Tippy had FIP & if we wanted him to see the morning we had to go to Chicago Medvet were he was in ICU for days & confirmed it was Wet FIP. We were told about an experimental drug we could try and we started treatment. He also sees Dr Reed in Indiana Tippy and his siblings are the reason we started fostering years ago. When we were interviewed the woman said she never met cats as friendly as ours. Our cats will meet a stranger at our door with purrs and kisses like they have never been pet before. Tippy is a cuddle and he loves to have his back feet held as he goes to sleep curled under the blanket tucked in our arms. He is my angel.
