Maple Leigh

Maple Leigh is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Katy, TX, who needs $6,000 for Liver Shunt Surgery.

Katy, TX

Maple Leigh is a rescue; but to be honest, when we adopted her four years ago, SHE rescued US. We knew Maple was special from the beginning; she has a heart of resilience. She had her front-right leg amputated as a puppy and then spent 3 years with a foster, being overlooked by adopters. Our little tripod reminds us that our differences make us special and that we can do hard things. At Maple's recent bi-annual checkup, her blood results showed significant elevation in her liver protein numbers. After a nerve-racking visit to an internal medicine specialist, we learned that Maple has a shunt in her liver that is allowing some of her blood to circulate without being detoxified and can only be corrected through surgery. We are working with Dr. Kerr at Gulf Coast VS for her care. Maple is the beloved Queen of our house. She rules over her family of two adults, two kids, and two fur-siblings with grace and empathy. She protects us with the cutest little bark when the front door opens, sits with us when we are feeling sad or anxious, and follows us around, nipping at our heels to direct us. She's always on someone's lap and is always making someone smile. Our family isn't ready to give up our Maple Leigh, but our finances can't cover the cost of her surgery. Maple's grown ups both give our hearts to others through our work as a teacher & a mental health counselor. Now, we need help keeping the heart of our family with us.

Java

Java is a 3 year old Giant Schnauzer in Manvel, TX, who needs $20,000 for IV Therapy and Monitoring for Fungal Osteomyelitis.

Manvel, TX

A close friend of mine contacted me to tell me that he had the perfect puppy for me. It happened to be one of my dream dogs, a Giant Schnauzer and this friend new I loved dogs as I've always had them in my life. She was perfect so we took her home and named her Java! Java became suddenly ill one day as we first noticed her limping. The vet ran xrays and found a mass on her bone. We quickly found a vet to do a biopsy and after a long wait, it was discovered that she had a severe and rare fungal bone infection. She initially responded well to Itraconazole, but this drug affected her kidneys so we need advanced IV treatments to destroy the spreading fungus. Java is everyone's friend in the neighborhood and anywhere she go. Neighbors speak to Java on our walks and she is always the topic of conversation with friends and neighbors. She has her crew of furry friends which entails more doggy play dates than her owner's social life. She is so curious and loves to play chase. She has a special bond with her human brother that is unbreakable. The cost of Java's treatment is above our means. The drug Java will need is more than a mortgage payment and we just can't afford to pay out-of-pocket. Her treatment involves outpatient hospital care three times a week for 6 weeks.

Porter, TX

Caesar is my 8-year-old miniature schnauzer and has been by my side every day for over 8 years. He lives in a loving home with his sister Sophie. He has his routine—breakfast, treats, and TV time like clockwork. He follows me everywhere and rarely leaves my side. Being apart from him during this emergency has been heartbreaking. Caesar was initially treated for suspected IVDD after showing severe pain and mobility issues. After 11 days with no improvement and worsening symptoms, he was referred to Gulf Coast Veterinary Hospital. He was scheduled for an MRI, but a chest mass was discovered, requiring a CT scan before any spinal treatment can proceed. Caesar is not just a pet—he is family. My wife Emiliya and I do not have children, so Caesar and his sister Sophie are truly our kids. As a military veteran living with PTSD, Caesar plays a vital role in my daily life. He is incredibly loving and always close by. During panic attacks and nightmares, he stays right beside me, calming me and helping me feel safe. He brings comfort, stability, and un We have exhausted our savings trying to cover Caesar’s emergency care. The cost of diagnostics and treatment has exceeded what we can afford, and we are now relying on credit to continue. Without help, we may not be able to proceed with the care he urgently needs.

Cody

Cody is a 9 year old Mix-Breed in Houston, TX, who needs $9,000 for Total Hip Replacement Surgery.

Houston, TX

If you’ve ever met Cody, you know one thing immediately: He’s ridiculously smart. Not regular smart. “Figured out how to ring the bell at the door to go outside” smart. “Learns new tricks faster than humans can teach them” smart. “Puts his paw on your arm when you say ‘help’ like he understands what you're going through” smart. Cody is the kind of dog who keeps life interesting. Recent X-rays showed severe hip dysplasia in his left hip, along with arthritis and joint damage. His right hip is also beginning to show signs of dysplasia and degeneration. Because he has been compensating for the pain, the strain has now started affecting his knees and ligaments as well. Cody has been referred to an orthopedic specialist at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. Cody carries his toys around like prized possessions, and lately he’s been learning to clean up by putting them back in his toy box. He LOVES Christmas presents — so much that if you leave them out early, he’ll happily open them ahead of schedule. And whenever he gets a new treat or toy, he prances away with it like he just won the lottery:) Surgery could give Cody something priceless: The ability to walk comfortably. To run again. To play again. Cody has given so much love, laughter, and joy. Having him healthy again would be an incredible gift.

Houston, TX

Frodo is a loving boy who lives with his owner and is an emotional support animal. He lives on a university campus with his owner. Before his current owner he was rehoused twice. During the holiday break, he fell of the bed and hit his head. This left him with a head injury that has caused him to lose the ability to keep his balance, and focus. He is staying strong but needs help to get the money for his treatment. He required and MRI with a treatment plan ready in place. He needs to be hospitalized for three days at the Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialist. Frodo is the most lovable dog in the world. He loves meeting new people and will always try to say hi to everyone during his walks. He loves to eat scrambled eggs and pepperonis. He is terribly spoiled by everyone he meets, but he is a good boy and he deserves the best. I’m in college right now, working part time. His accident was so sudden, and although i have tried alternative treatments and to get insurance I have had no luck. This dog means the world to me, and I’m doing everything I can. Peri winkle was saved from a breeding house, he was the last of the puppies that they could not sell. He was going to be put down but we paid $500 to save him from the ugly conditions he was living in. He is now a new brother to another rescue in similar condition. Unfortunately our Mail person left the gate open to the front door and he was able to get out on to the busy street after realizing he was not in the house, I ran out to the street and watched him get hit by the car. The driver did not stop.:( his back leg is completely shattered and needs to be amputated or surgery. Unfortunately I do not have $16,000 to cover his suregery and vet stay. He is amazing with kids and has done some charitable thing with houston children’s, saying hello and giving wet kisses. He’s a big ball of love who is loved by many. I am currently the head of the family running on a fixed income, helping my partner who is currently not working due to the loss of his job. We had to wash him for hours before we were able to take him home since he was full of fleas. I have always made sure Cyrus is up to date with his vaccinations and took him to the Vet for yearly check ups. He only had to have some surgeries to get rid of small masses. Some of them were mast cell tumors. But all of them were always 100% removed Cyrus has always been my very close companion but when I got sick and diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, he stepped up and became my service dog. Humble, TX

Ruffles, my kitty boy's name, was given to me as a gift when he was just a kitten, and over the years, he’s become the sweetest, most loving companion — truly the love of my life. Watching him grow and share his gentle personality with everyone he meets has been such a blessing. I never knew a kitty like him would fill such a big spot in my heart. Unfortunately, something terrible happened recently — someone shot him with what appears to have been a pellet gun, injuring his limb. He’s now limping and in pain, and I’ve been told that surgery will likely be necessary to help him heal and regain his mobility. Seeing him like this has been devastating. I am seeking organizations or donors that can help with the surgery costs. He’s my comfort, my joy, and my constant companion. He has the kindest eyes and the most gentle soul. No matter what kind of day I’m having, he always finds a way to make me smile. He truly is the love of my life. Due to his injury, the house feels quiet without his usual energy and playfulness, and it’s painful to see him unable to do the little things he loves. I want nothing more than to help him get better, but I’m currently facing financial difficulties and simply cannot afford the surgery costs on my own. Between regular bills and day-to-day expenses, I’m doing everything I can, but it’s not enough.

Houston, TX

I found Solita abandoned on the street in 2018. She was scared, aggressive, and clearly tossed aside but we saw something in her worth saving. We named her “Solita” because she seemed like a lonely little girl. Over time, she transformed into the most nurturing soul in our home. We now have five rescues, and Solita has become their gentle guardian. Her nickname is “Mama” because she comforts us. Solita was attacked, leaving her with puncture wounds on her arm and chest, a broken toe, and traumatic tissue damage. The initial veterinary clinic wrapped her injuries, but she quickly developed necrotic skin that they couldn’t treat. We rushed her to Gulf Coast Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Houston, where the specialists found the infection had spread to her muscle. requiring daily care Solita is the heart of our home. She’s gentle, watchful, and full of love especially toward the other rescues. Despite her rough past, she became our “Mama dog,” checking on the others like a little nurse, especially when someone’s feeling off. She doesn’t bark much, but she grumbles and huffs to let you know she’s paying attention Her favorite place is the sunspot in the backyard. We are on fixed income and We didn’t have an emergency fund large enough to cover this kind of crisis. We’ve spent what we could, but the treatments Solita needs aren’t slowing down. terrified that without help, we won’t be able to save her leg. Solita means everything to us

My baby lilly came into my life right before Christmas last year.I was pumping gas and heard a tiny little crying sound and started looking all over until I looked between the garbage cans by the pump and seen her face peeping up at me.She was scared to death and I looked everywhere for a mom kitty or possibly more kittens and there was none in sight. She wasn't even old enough to be away the mom. I attempted to find a home for her being so close to christmas time and I am already the parent of two other kitty's.But no one came forward or wanting her.And it didn't take very long for me to e fully attached to her and could never ever see myself being without her.She in fact wants to be so close to me she would be in my skin..lol..Shes my snuggle buddy I have never experienced having a pet that had seizures.and the first time it happened I almost had a severe panic attack. And took her to vca animal hospital in Pasadena tx.They gave her an exam and ran several blood tests and didnt know what the cause was and prescribed phenobarbital.Eventually the seizures continued and we ended up at gulf coast.Over 800 Dollars later they recommended an MRI. I left devastated from gulf coast because I told the nurse I cannot afford the MRI and I cannot bare to think of lilly not getting the help she so desperately needs.I asked the nurse if there was any programs out there that can help her she said most people cant afford it.

She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She has responded good to treatment. Sandy is very loving. Allows my adult children’s smaller pets to crawl on her and snuggle next to her. She lays next to my grandson as though she is watching him. She will bark if he moves. I lost my job and have a new job that provides me less financial means. She was neglected, spending most of the day in her kennel and she reeked of poop when we adopted her. Nonetheless, we fell in love with her sweet, gentle demeanor. She is currently living with my brother and his girlfriend in Texas and I am helping them raise funds for her care. Lilly has been struggling with blockages in her kidneys for about 6 months. She has had period of time when she is fine and can function normally and other times, not so much. My brother and his girlfriend are medical school grads and they have been able to give her fluids at home to keep her from getting dehydrated, since she has not wanted to drink food or eat. Lilly wouldn’t hurt a fly. She’s sweet, caring and very loving. As a depressed teen, she always kept me company, especially when I was sad or crying. She’s great with kids and always was curious to meet the little humans in our family. She loves the park, often running for miles without stopping to chase the birds on the grass. The vet informed my brother that the best option would be to surgically remove the blockages in both kidneys to relieve her pain/distress. Vet is planning on operating by Sunday 4/28 and we can use any help we can get. Lilly is our family and we are not ready to say goodbye!

He is my ride or die, my sidekick, wherever I go. Chewie loves all people but not all pets. That could be because he has grown accustom to being an only dog. He is a spunky little boy that is so full of life and love but an old man at heart. He plays hard but at 8pm he outs himself to bed to get his beauty sleep. Chewie is special to me because he is my child, the light of my life. He brings a smile to my face and keeps the grey skies away. He is ready to play or snuggle, whatever the situation calls for. In his short 2 years he has already been through so much with me. A couple of homes, boyfriends, cars, etc. He is my rock! Chewie began having issues November 30. He has had 4 episodes now, and each time things have progressively gotten worse. The vets thinks he may be having seizures, but a camera was set up after the 2nd time and so far nothing has been caught on tape. Bloody and bruised face and eyes, stool caked on his hind end, bulging eyes and now urinating frank blood. I was laid off of my job and took a lower paying job. I was living with a roommate that helped with rent and bills but they moved out. My credit is not perfect and I am unable to get CareCredit, scratch pay, etc.

Babe

Babe is a 4-year-old French Bulldog in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for Pulmonary Valve Stent Implant.

Houston, TX

Babe was used for breeding before I rescued her. She was about a year and half when I got her. She is now currently living with me and her best friend Lilo, another rescue frenchie. Babe was very shy and timid when I got her. It took her a while to get comfortable with me, but she soon showed her personality. She loves to play outside with her friends and loves to eat. Babe loves to play and snuggle with her bestfriend Lilo and loves to eat cheese! However she does not eat off brand cheese, only Kraft. She hates vacuums and mops and will make sure to bite them anytime they are out. Babe was diagnosed with Severe pulmonary valve stenosis with annular hypoplasia Tricuspid valve dysplasia and will need a stent inserted to allow blood flow. Over time her heart will continue to expand until it is not able to anymore if the stent is not inserted. If she is able to get the surgery, if would increase her life expectancy as well as overall quality of life I am currently a student and unfortunately am not able to pay for the surgery as it is very expensive. I currently have on insurance l, but they will not cover her heart condition and they determined it to be a pre-existing.

Zoe is a 2-year-old Lab-Pit-Hound Mix in Katy, TX, who needs $2,000 for Removal of Soft Tissue Sarcoma.

Katy, TX

Zoe was adopted as a puppy around 2-3 months old from the animal shelter. When I met Zoe, she was shy and so nervous that the first time we met, she peed on my shoe! From that moment on, I fell in love with her. Zoe is currently 2 years old, and lives with me and my other dog, Ren, who I also adopted. We live in a one story home in Katy, TX, having just recently relocated here from Bryan, TX. I have met a lot of dogs in my life, each of them special in their own way. Zoe is one of the funniest, most loving dogs I have ever met in my life. She is a goofball, always wanting to play and go on walks. She also loves to hang out and watch TV with the family (she loves Family Feud). Daily, she shows that her empathy knows no bounds. I love coming home from work to so much love. Zoe is so special, words can't even describe. Zoe's best friend in the world is my other dog, Ren. She will always run around him with a toy and try to get him to chase her, and will come say hi by tapping my hand with her nose. Zoe has always been extremely empathetic. She can sense if I am sad, and when I am sad, will act like a goofball (she tries to dance...) to cheer me up. In March of this year, I noticed a mass appeared almost overnight. Zoe was diagnosed via biopsy with a grade 2 Soft Tissue Sarcoma. Zoe received radiation therapy at GCVS to control the tumor/make it operable. and it worked. Now it is time for surgery with GCVS to remove it. After this, she will be done with treatment. She is such a tough girl, for having to deal with this so young. Biopsy, radiation, and CT scans have cost about $13,800. This surgery, will be more intensive than expected, and will be about $6000-$7000 more. This will give Zoe a second chance at a long life, and I can't put that into words what that will mean to me.

Houston, TX

4 years ago, I picked up Ripley at the animal shelter in my hometown. Whoever was working there was trying to draw my attention to a russian blue, but I really fell in love with the orange one. Ripley is the sweetest cat I've ever met. Shortly after having her, we noticed her acting strangely. After a series of different symptoms and a string of different vets, we finally got a diagnosis of FIV. I named her after the main character in the Alien movies. She is loud and demands attention all the time - I like to call her Yellin' Ripley. She can be what we call aggressively affectionate. Especially with her sister. She demands attention in a couple different ways. One of my favorites was when she notices I'm on my way to the bathroom so she can race me in there. She also loves to do stretches with me and likes to plop on my yoga mat whenever I roll it out. I love talking to her so much. During preliminary blood work for a dental cleaning, they found that her hematocrit was at 8%. This has thrown us for a loop because she just had a yearly check up a few months ago. The vet suspects Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. We need to go to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists really soon because Ripley needs a blood transfusion, some imaging, and hospitalization. We just got this news yesterday (10/3) and we keep hearing that we need to euthanize her. We are trying our best to act quickly and care credit and other credit cards can only take us so far. The estimate we were given was $8,000 to $10,000.

Houston, TX

Remy was rescued almost 2yrs ago and was malnourished & left on the side of the road. He is a Pyrenees & lab mix with a white coat and a big smile. He has had problems with lack of nutrients to his bones and joints since he was a puppy and now has ACL tear injury on right back leg and cannot but pressure on it to do his normal zoomies in the yard.. which is his favorite and also eating watermelon Remy likes to lay on the ground in the most random places right next to me in kitchen when im cooking & by the shower he’s waiting on floor & bottom of stairs a little tuff to step over a 70lb dog but then he can curl himself up in a little ball. He loves to play with his siblings & play tug a war. He is a great guard dog and protects his family, like his breed protects sheep in the Pyrenees Mts Remy is full of life when awake, playing with his toys and asking for belly rubs, but when asleep you can put a snack in front of his nose and he wouldn't know.lol He loves his naps and is a deep sleeper. He loves to cuddle & rest his head on your leg when laying on the couch. He listens very well to commands and will sit & lift his paw for snacks. He loves to go for walks and people watch. Remy has an ACL tear injury on right back leg and cannot but pressure on it. He has learned to walk slowly and use his back left leg to lean on But can be painful and serious if left untreated. The veterinary hospital we're using specializes in a specific surgery called TPLO which will be used to correct his knee, an add a metal plate so Remy can get back to running around happy! I have 4 dogs & rescued 2 during Covid & help lost pets in neighborhood to get back to their owners, when left abandoned I’ve tried to help & bring to my home. It’s a very expensive surgery, Remy is young & joyful, all he wants is to run & play and the surgery will help him

Dopey is a 4-month-old Lab mixed in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for Parvo Treatment.

Houston, TX

Dopey and Sleepy came into my possession through their mom which we have named Blanco. On Thanksgiving 2022 we picked up Blanco on the side of the road heading home to Houston at the time she did not look pregnant, and no chip. However much to our surprise just a few weeks in we noticed she was getting bigger. She gave birth January 18th 2023 to 5 puppies in our home! We had 5 puppies total including Dopey and Sleepy, my significant other and I decided we would keep the puppy we could not find a home for. That was originally just Sleepy as we thought we had found a home for Dopey, but the new owners were not prepared and ended up giving Dopey back to us. It was when he came back we grew to love him despite already taking care of three dogs. Dopey is so smart, he was starting to get down the routine of going outside to potty and he is so sweet, he gave the most sincere puppy kisses you have ever received. His eyes and smile would light up any room he was in. He was just happy to be amongst us, if you sat down he would immediately jump in your lap and give you all the licks until he would tucker himself out. Dopey has contracted the Parvo virus, I noticed he was lethargic and not eating Thursday night, early Friday morning he was vomiting and would not eat. I called around and the fastest place I could take him was a veterinary specialist. He is in stable condition with a fever, but is not eating and is being fed with a tube and an IV drip for hydration. I have a job, but like most I do not have unlimited funds in my bank account to fund his care. The 24hr care he is receiving is extraordinary. I have already dished out almost 6000 through care credit and my own money to try to get him through this.

Kiera is a Siberian Husky that came into our lives as a puppy at the beginning of my now-husband and I's 11 year relationship and has been the center of our world. She is our only pet, and enjoys patrolling the backyard and taking naps next to the fence. Although Kiera is her name, we rarely use it and rely on her nicknames of Keeker and Lil Lady. She's a skilled robber and likes to open boxes. She is our only pet, and her best friend(s) are her grandparents and aunts/uncles. She is very protective and likes to push her butt up on people for butt scratches. She also likes to make sure everyone leaves home with her husky hair as a souvenir on their clothes. She prefers to be where the action is, and likes to be in the same room as whoever is visiting. Kiera has a best Chihuahua best friend named Bailey and has to be reminded that not every cat that she sees on her walks wants to be her friend. She is an avid speaker, and will make sure her opinion is known when she doesn't want to listen to a "sit and stay" command. She's also a yeller and will make sure the mailman knows that she is watching when they come to the door with her Barkbox. Kiera was diagnosed with nasal adenocarcinoma in February 2023 and was referred to a specialist. She is going to need a CT scan to plan for radiation and has a good prognosis with aggressive radiation treatment (12-18 months of remission and additional butt scratches). Her oncologist believes she is a good candidate for radiation. I am a recent grad student graduate and my husband is a small business owner. All of our savings have been poured into the reason for her sneezing and testing to confirm cancer. We have maxed out CareCredit to begin the process of treatment.

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Buddy Hank is young, handsome, and sadly, going blind. He is a purebred Lab born with a genetic defect that causes blindness. His prior owners wanted to euthanize him because of it. "A woman who learned about Buddy Hank's grave predicament contacted Lucky Lab Rescue, begging us to help and save him," the group tells Waggle. "We certainly could not let him be killed because he was going blind!" The rescue got Buddy Hank into one of the top specialists in Texas for his condition. He's been on prescription eye drops to try to help, but sadly the pressure is so great inside one of his eyes that it's painful. His specialist recommends removing that eye and leaving the other one, which is responding to the drops. "We are trying to raise the money for Buddy Hank's surgery when donations are down, and dogs piling up in shelters are up," the rescue says. Once Buddy Hank heals from his eye surgery, he will be put up for adoption and find a family that loves him no matter what! "Lucky Lab does not turn away dogs with injuries or illnesses," the nonprofit group says. "Please give to help us continue our mission to save these underdogs. We can't do it without you."

Santino has been living with us for 4/5 years now, gets yearly check ups with the vet and is on a healthy diet. He has never gotten sick or had any injuries since living with us. Santino loves to play with other neighborhood dogs and children. His grandpa loves to take him to heard cattle. He loves to hang out with grandma in the kitchen (he finds it beneficial). Everyone in our family has a very special place for him in our hearts. Even family members who don't consider themselves as animal lovers, have fallen in love with him. He is protective of his family. Santino has a BIG personality, it's almost as if he could talk. He is charismatic and charming; likes to visit with everyone during family gatherings. Santino loves to play hide and go seek & tag with kids. His smile is contagious and you can count on him to always greet you with kisses. He gets really excited when its time to feed the farm animals and likes to mess with the cows and chickens. On September 4th, 2022 Santino was out playing on our property when a stranger drove by and shot him with a BB gun. He was found laying on our patio covered in his own blood. Santino was rushed to the hospital and was immediately taken care of. He has to get surgery to remove the bullet & the surgeon had to remove 4 inches of his small intestine. Total cost has been roughly $12k and the bill is only getting higher. Im a middle class student and cannot afford this medical expense. I had to take out a loan just so that the hospital would take him in. Now the hospital is asking for more money & I don't know what to do.

Blitz Andino is a 6-year-old Labrador retriever in Houston who needs $1,000 for Radiation Therapy.

Houston

This handsome pup came in to my life back when I was fresh out of highschool living with my brother on his couch. I’ve had him since he was a puppy literally about a month and a half and since then we had a bond he’s such a happy, outgoing pup. He is honestly the most human being dog ever when it comes to the attitude and the back talk aka snarls he truly makes my days so much better. Blitz honestly doesn’t care where to sleep if it’s not on his side of the bed which is the left or on the floor down by my feet. Or he will cuddle up on the rug right next to me never leaving my side. I would honestly say he talks in the funniest ways, he snarls to respond to questions or huffs and puffs when I don’t give him any snacks. He loves playing fetch and just passing the time walking. He is a very strange dog he sleeps on the pillows like a human. He has his own side on the bed and hates when someone is in it and he wants to lay down. He will look at whoever it is and snarl and give them daggers until they move. He absolutely loves tearing up stuffed animals and ripping the stuffing and squeakers out just for dad to come and clean up behind him. Unfortunately I came to find out that my best friend has a brain tumor that could possibly be a glioma. It’s located on his right frontal lobe and midway of his brain. Thankfully gulf coast veterinary specialists were able to find the tumor and give me an option with radiation therapy to give him the best possibly remaining time he has. Dr DiBernardi has been incredible with the clarity of it all. In all honesty I never imagined this happening because I kept up with all his records so when the seizure unexpectedly happened it did raise concerns. It being so sudden I didn’t save up enough money to cover everything plus it’s so extensive. Anything truly helps

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Poor Zeus! Lucky Lab saved this beautiful chocolate Labrador from a shelter where he was at risk of being killed for space reasons. Soon after Zeus arrived at his foster home, his foster mom could tell something was not quite right. His eyes, mouth, and lips were scarlet red and irritated. His ears had raging infections. The rescue brought him to their veterinarian, who referred Zeus to a dermatologist and eye doctor at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. After many (expensive! Gulp!) tests, it turns out that Zeus has an autoimmune disorder that is allowing a bacteria called Pseudomonas to attack and overrun his body. Now Zeus' team of specialists and the rescue are trying to determine the cause of the autoimmune affliction, fight the bacteria and treat his symptoms. "Zeus is seven years old, and he should be living in his forever home with a new family, but until he's feeling better, he needs to stay in foster care," Lucky Lab tells Waggle. "You can see what a great gem of a dog is behind those sad eyes. Our rescue doesn't shy away from helping dogs with medical needs." His medical bills are now running upward of $4000. It's a tab the nonprofit rescue is struggling to pay. "When we take in a dog, we treat them like one of our own. Please help us raise the money to get Zeus the tests and care he needs to fix him up. We want Zeus to have an amazing life ahead of him. We want his luck to change! After all, he is with Lucky Lab Rescue!"

Holiday was a rescue from outside a Holiday Inn. She lives with my grandmother, Narco ( my littlest baby ), Holmes my big boy and Sweet Sally my nana's dog. She stays in my room most of the time because her only goal in life is to sit on cushy pillows and get chunky and commandeering my pillows does just that for her. She's never been super playful but when she does she doesn't stop. Holiday never stops purring she sounds like a furry engine sleeping on my head. She takes care of Narco ( my little kitten) and loves to cuddle. She's usually is pretty neutral to guests but that's because I'm her favorite person in the world. I feed her Whole Hearted chicken and plenty of treats. She's fearless to the dog when he decides to invade her space. A bold powerful lady Holiday is. When I met her I knew her only plans in life where to get fat and sit on comfy pillows, do I let her do just that. I love that she lays on my head at night super warm in the winter months. Before she got sick she would show off her big belly and demand pets. My favorite thing she does is greet me after classes or if I have been gone all day so runs to see me, warms my heart. I was told by a vet that they believe she has Feline leukemia though I got her tested before I brought her home and the test was negative. She's always had some allergy issues I've had to refrain from using any air freshener and candles in the house for fear to upset her poor nose. I plan on taking her to Gulf Coast veterinary for emergency care they are the best in the business. I've been desperately searching for work and waiting for the new school semester to start. Scratch pay approved me but due to anterior on my credit report they wont ket me sign the loan promissory. Diesel is a giant cuddlelovebug. He lives at home with my other dog Milo, my boyfriend's dog Chico, and us (the humans). He roams free around the house while we are at work, but he mostly sleeps. He is lazy, loving, food-centric, and is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. His mother was a Husky and his father was a Labrador/Great Pyrenees mix - this makes for the most docile and loving dog Diesel sleeps at the end of the bed (sometimes he sneaks up in the middle of the night and steals our pillows though) most of the time, but sometimes he gets hot and sleeps on the couch in the living room. HE plays with his brothers and any other dog that comes over. He loves to swim, eat, go for car rides, and play with tennis balls. My favorite thing Diesel does is cuddle. Especially when it's cold. He loves to lay next to our heads and wrap his head around our necks. He always finds a way to get food from people by staring into their souls. He is one of those "so smart, he's dumb" dogs. His world revolves around human food/treats, so seeing him not interested in any food is very jarring. Diesel contracted an autoimmune disease (IMTP). His blood was not clotting on its own and his immune system was attacking itself. He was put through 6 days of treatments and showed improvement with his platelets and red blood cell count. After taking him home, he refused to eat.The meds were affecting him and we had to take him back to the ER. He now has pancreatitis and needs constant care. I have exhausted all of my funds and credit cards already from the first round of treatments, which were greater than $6,500. I have nothing left over for the treatment he now needs to survive.

Akira came into our lives as a rescue in Missouri about 4 years ago as an adopted sister to Rebel, my other Siberian husky where we all lived in a cozy apartment together. Until circumstances had us move back to Texas to be closer to family when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. Moving to Texas though she now has a home and a large backyard and all the friendly neighbor pets to befriend and Rebel to play with. Akira has been a ball of energy, she loves everyone. She loves going for random car rides or hikes in the woods. Being a husky she is not a fan of the heat and she lets me know it by "singing" which she does every time she wants something too. She loves playing fetch but is also content with being a couch potato. Her favorite thing to do however is to lay right next me and snuggle at bed time. Akira might have a boyfriend that Rebel does not approve of with the neighbor dog. When she's not out with the neighbor dog she plays fetch, she hasn't quite got the hang of returning the ball yet though, then it become keep away. Being a husky she loves the snow and watching her play in her element made me smile, that and the duet of sounds she and Rebel make when they sing together everyday. Akira's medical situation started off as IBD that was being successfully treated but likely compromised her immune system. She is diagnosed with systemic fungal infections in multiple areas of her body as well as tachycardia and acute kidney trauma that's making her a very sick dog. She is currently undergoing treatment at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists under the care of Dr. Clark. The funding I would receive from this platform would be game changing. While still a drop in the bucket it would allow for the vet to continue her care from this very unexpected and life threatening illness. As of today her vet bills are $15k+

I lost my job through no fault of my own 3 years ago. Shortly after, I became disabled and unable to work or drive so I took early retirement and receive social security as my only income. After becoming disabled, I adopted Cher for companionship and she has been an absolute godsend. I would be lost without her, Cher is my constant companion. I cannot imagine life without her. Cher is my baby. She rarely lets me venture very far from her and when I do, she comes looking for me. She sleeps in bed with me and has to have some part of her body touching me. Cher loves to sit and watch TV with me. Whenever we go outside to sit and enjoy the day, she will always give me a little growl when she decides it's time to come in, whether I'm ready to or not. Cher spends all her time with me. If she wants up into the chair I'm sitting in, she makes these cute little growling noises to get my attention. If I ignore her, the growls get louder and louder until I hear her adorable bark. She loves to play with our kitten Luna, who teases her by jumping up on chairs that Cher can't reach. Cher will bark and Luna lovingly swats her. It's adorable! I adopted Cher in March 2021. At the time of adoption, Cher was recovering from bilateral ear infections. Her ear infections continued. Her veterinarian suggested a TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) for her left ear. A CT scan was done and it was noted that Cher has a mass in her right ear canal that extends into the bone and may be malignant. Dr. Cole at GCVS suggests a bilateral TECA-BO. I lost my job 3 years ago, then became disabled. Words cannot express how thankful I will be to receive assistance from anyone who donates. I want to thank you for the ability to relieve Cher's pain and allow her to live a happy, pain-free life.

Dallas

Dallas is a nine-year-old Doberman in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for cancer treatment.

Houston, TX

Many of us have been fortunate enough to have that one special dog, our forever dog, the pooch we share a bond with like no other. For Izala M., that dog is Dallas. "Dallas came into my life as a newborn-spirited, beautiful puppy," Izala tells Waggle. "I was with him the moment he opened his eyes, and we've been inseparable since. Dallas has been with me through every important life event, from breakups to graduations and even cross-country moves. He has been the only constant in my life for the past nine years, and I can't wait to continue our journey together." So Izala was devastated when she found out Dallas has cancer. "Dallas has recently been diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on his left front paw," she says. "The very kind veterinarians at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (Dr. Alexander and Dr. DiBernardi) have recommended radiation therapy to treat the area. Our goal is to reduce the size of his melanoma and prevent it from spreading elsewhere." The prognosis for Dallas with treatment is optimistic, but unfortunately, Izala is struggling to pay for his medical bills. "I just moved to Houston, TX from Savannah, GA for a job in June 2021 and incurred a lot of expenses from the move. I am still trying to recover financially. Unfortunately, radiation treatment is very costly, but I am willing to do anything to help my best friend." It's a gut-wrenching feeling not being able to pay your beloved pet's medical bills. Izala launched this Waggle campaign hoping people who understand her dilemma might contribute to help her dog. "Dallas is special because while I've owned many dogs in my life, I've never owned a dog with who I share such a strong connection. Dallas is always in sync with my moods and knows just how to make me smile when I'm having a bad day or how to make me laugh when I'm bored on conference calls. He's taught me how to be kind, patient, and adventurous. He gives me something to look forward to every day."

Marley

Marley is a 2-year-old Domestic Long Hair in Houston, TX, who needs $1,177 for a fracture femur repair.

Houston, TX

Marley was a rescue cat, along with his brother Deuce. My boyfriend found them outside of his lot her apartment complex and brought home Deuce first June 2019 when I returned from a trip. Marley came a few weeks later. I’ve had them close to me ever since and fell in love. I’m a natural animal lover, I’ve always had cats since my childhood. Marley and Deuce love to play with each other. We live in a gated apartment complex and they both like to roam around outside. Most neighbors know that these are my pets and tells me they are gold cats who aren’t bothersome. When family came to visit, Marley met them for the first time and slept in the room with them. He loved them immediately and that’s when I knew he was special. I am employed and have been for 6 years but as most Americans, I’m unable to save money for unexpected bills and emergencies. This has been a devastating past few days trying to figure out how to help him. I don’t have any children but my pets are the closest thing to it. Two days ago, my cat came home with a broken leg. I usually let them roam around in our gated community because they are adventurous and they love to be outdoors. My biggest fear is the thought of someone intentionally harming Marley but I have no idea what occurred. I cannot afford the surgery. Marley is the explorer. He loves to be outdoors and discover new areas of the complex. This is what scares me because I’m not able to follow him around or see the places he travels to. He is a joyful cat and likes lounging around sometimes. His nickname is Garfield. I call him my chunky baby. He’s usually a happy cat but with this current situation he just looks so sad and it’s tearing me apart

Bruno

Bruno is a 9-year-old Golden Retriever Lab Mix in Richmond, TX, who needs $2,000 for Soft Tissue Sarcoma Tumor Removal Surgery.

Richmond, TX

Bruno was pulled from a high kill shelter minutes before his time was up. He is the best most loyal boy in the world. Bruno was pulled from a high kill shelter minutes before his "time was up". Because of Bruno's story we have became a rescue family. We have rescued, donated, pulled, transported and fostered so many animals because of how amazing of a dog Bruno is. Bruno is our world. We have a house full of pups and a revolving door of fosters who are all loved and spoiled but there is something so special about Bruno. My son refers to him as brother Bruno and we argue over whos best friend he is. Bruno is the leader of our pack and is in runs the house. He loves other dogs and to run free with them as long as they don't take his tennis balls! Due to COVID I took a pay cut and I am the sole provider for our family. We want more than anything for Bruno to get better. However we spent close to $18k and we have exhausted all finances that we have. Bruno is our family and we owe it him to try everything to save him. Bruno diagnosed with grade 2 soft tissue sarcoma in November of 2020. We had surgery to remove the tumor but it grew back January 2021. We removed the tumor again and we began 20 rounds of aggressive radiation. Unfortunately in April 2021 we notices a possible regrowth and on 5/5/2021 a biopsy confirmed that it is a regrowth of STS. Bruno is being treated at Gulf Coast Vet Specialist. Bruno loves playing fetch with tennis balls more than anything. No matter how tired he is he is always up for a good game of fetch. Every year for Christmas Bruno gets a bucket full of tennis balls and its the best day of the year when we throw them all at him. Bruno begs for my attention, he always has. He has gone as far as to hide the remote to even hiding my keys so I couldn't leave.

Mya is a 6-year-old Husky in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for Total Left Hip Replacement.

Houston, TX

Mya was rescued in march of 2017. I found her tie to a tree in a trailer park with no shelter or water. After getting permission from the owners I took her and started a better life for her. One month after caring for her I realized she was pregnant. She ended up having 8 healthily puppies. That's when i realized how malnourished she really was. After the delivery of her pups we found out she had heartworms. One overnight vet stay two shaved patches and a lot of love we were able to overcome her hearworms. We began living our best life. Hiking, kayaking, camping and anything outdoors she was ready to go. She stays close to me and is a total mamas girl. We are currently doing a therapeutic treatment plan. That it self is putting a financial strain on us. She is getting pain shots to help along with proscription joint dog food. We just want our baby to be healthy and living her best life again. Anything help. I notice Mya would limp on her back left let after long hikes and camping trip. I took her to the vet and they just chopped it up to arthritis. I did not accept that answer. So i got a second opinion at my current vet. We did x-rays and it showed hip dysplasia. I end up taking her to a specialist. Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialist in Katy TX. They informed me she needs a total left hip replacement. Mya loves to talk to you when shes not getting attention. Her zoomies are hilarious, she will run, howl and bark all in a circle just to get your attention. Shes a leaner, she loves to lean on you while shes getting lovins. Her favorite is to chase the ball. Shes still working on giving it back. Overall shes a sweet loving husky.

Hazel

Hazel is a 1-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier in Pinehurst, TX, who needs $2,000 for right stifle arthroscopy + MPL repair (with likely DFO).

Pinehurst, TX

My niece found 3 small puppies in a park. She took 1 of the puppies and I took the other 2. Hazel & Harper are their names. I chose Hazel’s name because I love the old tv show “Hazel”. Our girls are a little over 1 years old now and happy healthy girls other than the fact that poor Hazel was born with some leg deformities. She is bow legged, but I think it makes her more adorable. Hazel likes going on walks and exploring or running in the backyard with her sister Harper. She is my nap cuddle bug. Loves to nap with her mama. This girl is a foodie for sure. Loves her groceries. As a matter of fact the ortho vet instructed us that she needs to lose weight. We have now cut her food by half & hoping that will help ease some of her leg pain until she can receive surgery. My husband and I both work, however we have our regular debt as well as trying to put our so. Through college, therefore we just do not the money needed for Hazel’s surgery. We will assist financing of course, but we can afford it all. She has a Right Medial Patella luxation (MPL) and needs orthopedic surgery to fix her two back legs. Basically her knee caps keep popping out of place and need to be repaired before they continue to get worse. She has been evaluated by Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Kristin Coleman, DVM, MS DACVS. Hazel is a lover. She loves giving kisses. She will give anyone a bath with her licks. Toes, face, doesn’t matter. If it is exposed it is fair game 😀Our girl is shorter than her sister and bow legged. I think it gives her character. She may be short and little, but she can have an attitude when her bully sister picks on her. She stands her ground.

Joker

Joker is a one-year-old English Pointer mix in Livingston, TX, who needs $1,500 for emergency leg surgery.

Livingston, TX

When Alexandra D. saw a social media post about a litter of puppies abandoned under a house who needed help, she stopped in her tracks. She immediately fell in love with one of the pups. He was light-colored with darling black spots. "He was cute and so adorable," Alexandra tells Waggle. She contacted the person who posted and picked up the puppy who was so young he had to be bottle-fed. "He was super sweet, quiet, and very loving. He took to my four-year-old daughter immediately," Alexandra says. They named the puppy Joker. He went from being a malnourished, discarded dog and blossomed into a wonderful, healthy family member. But just recently, a terrible accident happened-- Joker was hit by a car. Alexandra raced him to the animal emergency room, and X-rays revealed his leg was fractured. He needs immediate surgery at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. "They need to put in plates and pins," Alexandra says. "Joker can't run or play until he has the operation to mend the bone and recovers. He's liming around a lot. He can't walk very well. He's so little; he is a puppy and wants to play so bad." Alexandra and her family are currently in dire straights financially. They were hit with many unexpected bills. Alexandra can't work right now because she has health issues that make her high-risk if she contracts COVID-19. The family is living off her husband's $11 an hour income. They can't afford Joker's emergency surgery and are asking for help. Think of it like paying it forward; tough times can hit anyone. "We really appreciate it; things are so hard right now. Joker means so much to us. He keeps us happy," Alexandra adds. "He makes everyone around him smile. He is our life companion."

Mona is a 1-year-old Maltese in Alvin, TX, who needs $1,999 for Spinal Cord Surgery.

Alvin, TX

I had bought Mona, from a family friend she was only about 6-7 weeks. They didn’t have a name for her so I came around Mona, my moms friend was just saying random names and I loved Mona, it just stuck with her and it fits her. Like Mona Lisa- she’s one of a kind. When she was a little baby, all she liked to do was to play with my crocs, and tear up all my shoes. Mona used to always sleep with me in my bed, but due to her being paralyzed from her rear end she has to sleep in her cage. She loves going to Starbucks and getting a Puppicino and fries from Chick-fil-A. She used to always have her zoomy moments, she would go wild all over the living room. She is the first and only furbaby that I have. I’m a 19 year older living on my own, I don’t have much left to spare, I was planning on going to college this spring but I have to push it aside and help Mona try to walk on all 4 legs again. I don’t know exactly what it is until 01/05/2021 it’s either autoimmune disease or a spinal cord surgery, because they found a tumor in her spinal cord. They’re just trying to detect what caused it. She’s currently paralyzed from her rear end and I don’t know if she’ll be able to walk again, the surgery may give her a chance to walk again- or maybe wheels. Mona has two other friends Boogie and Chucky, she used to love her random play dates. She loves talking, especially when she see new people! She barks for everything, when she wants food or water or maybe she just wants the loves and attentions. It’s an unconditional love thats hard to explain, but only because she’s my child

Archie — 2d373a

Houston, TX

Archie is a 10 month old goldendoodle who we found through a breeder in Dallas in February. He is our first and only puppy and he has been the light of our lives since he came into our lives. He also goes by "Archo" and "Archie pants". He lives with me and my husband Rollin, and we are both frontline healthcare workers. Archie has been the best companion and our lifeline during this crazy year! Archie loves to play fetch, collect sticks on walks, and chase squirrels. He also loves to be sneaky and steal Dad's socks! He is playful and lovable and such a joy to have in our family. He brings a smile to everyone he comes across during our walks. He loves to go to dog parks and makes friends so easily. My husband Rollin and I are both healthcare workers in the Texas Medical Center. We both have major student loan payments every month and it has been difficult to manage Archie's cancer workup with our other financial obligations. Any help would be appreciated! Archie is the sweetest 10 month old goldendoodle who was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma this month by Dr. Katie Stroda at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. We are proceeding with surgery to debulk the tumor and will attempt radiation and chemotherapy afterwards. Any help towards his care would be greatly appreciated as we are trying to do everything we can for our puppy. Even though it's been a rough two months for him since the onset of his symptoms to his diagnosis, he still has the best spirit and continues to play, cuddle and fetch to the best of his ability! He loves to collect sticks on our walks, give kisses to other pups, and receive high quality scratches from anyone and everyone. He does not understand the concept of stranger danger or personal space!

Gypsy Gal (GG)

Gypsy Gal (GG) is a 11-year-old English Setter in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for Radiation.

Houston, TX

GG came into my life 11 years ago! She was an energetic lovely little girl who has always been excited to run on the beach and chase birds! I got her when I was attending classes in Seattle WA. My dear girl Gypsy Gal (GG) is an English Setter. I grew up with English Setter’s and have a special relationship with them which holds special connection with my Dad who passed away several years ago. GG is my heart and has been my own ’therapy’ girl/dog for 11 years. She has always been in excellent health and has been with me through thick and thin. My own story involves being diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2017 - where I went through extensive treatment, and now and doing well but continue to be monitored closely. We both have been there through so much together. My husband lost his job due to Covid, and has not yet been able to return to work. I’m on disability given chemo/cancer treatments etc. We are in debt for the past treatments (surgery, CT scans, biopsies, bloodwork, etc.) GG is otherwise very healthy, and deserves life! GG was diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth last July time frame during a dental cleaning check up. She was referred to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists where the Dr.’s evaluated her and recommended various options for treatment. Surgery was performed (we thought successfully and margins clear), however her SCC has now returned and radiation treatment is now being recommended. GG is the most special sweet girl in the world. I know we all feel that about our fur babies! She is afraid of thunder and will suddenly and often unexpectedly surprise me by jumping up into my lap (she is NOT a lap sized dog!) when a storm is brewing! She is very submissive but sneaks up on the bed when her Daddy is not at home! She loves to sleep on 'soft' cushy places in our home!

Anders Sandvig

Anders Sandvig is a 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for Fractionated Radiation Therapy and Surgery.

Houston, TX

Anders is in great health other than the cancer: he loves long walks around Memorial Park, sniffing all the smells as we jog around our neighborhood in Oak Forest, and he is always excited to make new friends. Everyone who meets him calls him "sweet boy" because of his outgoing personality and his sweet way with both dogs and people. He loves to lounge as much as he loves to play. When I met my wife in 2015, she already had a man in her life. Anders, a 95-pound male Rhodesian Ridgeback, was just three years old at the time, and in those three years he and Kristen had become best friends. Anders was her running buddy, her snuggle buddy, and her big pillow to hug and to cry on and to lift her up with unconditional love. Today he is my best friend, too. We have enough to pay our bills and keep our small business operating on a shoestring until the economy starts to bounce back. We have paid thousands for comprehensive diagnostic testing. We cannot afford the radiation therapy and surgery to complete Anders' treatment. Anders needs radiation therapy and surgery for a soft tissue spindle cell sarcoma, grade I (MC 1). We have paid for the comprehensive diagnostics to ensure the cancer is isolated to his forelimb, and our vet Dr. Nealon at South by South Vets and the oncologist Dr. DiBernardi at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists have done their best to help keep costs down, but treatment costs are significant. Anders is a lover and a singer! He is friends with everyone he meets and has the nickname "sweet boy" with everyone who spends time with him. He always has a smile, whether he's nervous (car rides) or happy (anything other than car rides). His sister, LadyBird, is anxious, and Anders helps her feel better by squeaking a squeak until she starts howling, then he joins in the song like Pavarotti.

JJ was Born July 24, 2015 He was a c-section baby along with 10 other siblings 8 total living. His mother that I had passed away due to the vet cutting an artery during her C-section causing her to go into distress on her heart. I miss her dearly, I bottle-fed the whole litter and dedicated everything I had to keeping them all alive. JJ is one of two out of the litter that I kept as they were reminders of their mama. Him and his brother are fighters and strong willed, as the vet said that they wouldn’t live due to all the complications during birth. Example; his brother passed away on me twice and I gave him CPR when the vet said to let him go here is almost 5 years later along with JJ. The story behind JJ name is he was the biggest out of his siblings, he knew his name right away, he was the first to come grab the bottle and sneak out of the tub and push the bottle around while I fed others lol. He is a mommas boy and used to tell everyone that.
