Dexter Can’t Bend His Back Legs, But Nothing Stops Him

La Mesa, CA • The Animal Pad

At just 2.5 years old, Dexter has already experienced more uncertainty than any dog should. This affectionate Belgian Malinois mix once had a home and someone who loved him, but after his owner passed away, everything changed. Dexter had been living with an older woman in the Los Angeles area along with three other dogs. Following her passing, the dogs needed somewhere new to go. The other three found places with residents in the community, but no one was willing to take Dexter. He was eventually put out on the streets, where he spent approximately two days with people experiencing homelessness. Thankfully, a friend of The Animal Pad learned what had happened and reached out to the rescue for help. The Animal Pad stepped in and took Dexter into their care, ensuring he would no longer have to face his uncertain future alone. Dexter is a special needs dog with a significant condition affecting both of his rear legs. His back legs are immobile and cannot bend, and it is currently unclear whether he was born this way or suffered an injury earlier in his life. But Dexter refuses to let his legs define him. Despite his condition, Dexter is remarkably mobile. He walks upright without assistance, enjoys going on outdoor walks, and is not incontinent. He loves playing with toys and will happily join in a game of fetch or tug of war. He’s treat motivated, affectionate, cuddly, and from the way he seeks out love, it’s easy to imagine that he spent plenty of time as a lap dog with his former owner. After losing the person and home he knew, Dexter deserves stability and the chance to receive the care and support he needs for his unusual hind leg condition. The Animal Pad is committed to being there for Dexter, but caring for a special needs dog comes with additional veterinary needs and expenses. Your donation to Dexter’s fundraiser will help support the veterinary evaluation and care he needs while giving The Animal Pad the resources to continue helping dogs like him. Dexter has already lost his owner, his home, and nearly his chance at safety. Now he has The Animal Pad in his corner, and with your help, he can continue moving toward the secure and loving future he deserves. Please consider donating to Dexter’s fundraiser today. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps The Animal Pad provide Dexter with the care and support he needs as they work to give this incredibly affectionate pup the next chapter he’s been waiting for.

Parker

Parker should have never known this kind of cruelty.

Jacksonville, FL • Stray Animal Foundation of India

The other night, a neighbor was startled by the sound of a dog screaming in pain. When our volunteer rushed outside, he saw an intoxicated man nearby. Not thinking too much of it, he returned to his house. A few days later, Parker, the drunk man’s dog, returned with devastating injuries including deep lacerations that appear to have been intentionally inflicted. The wounds were severe, and by the time he was found again, they had already begun to show signs of infection. Thanks to the quick actions of compassionate rescuers at Stray Animal Foundation of India, Parker was rushed to the veterinary clinic, where his emergency treatment began immediately. He is receiving wound care, pain management, antibiotics, and the medical attention he desperately needs to give his body a chance to heal. No animal deserves to suffer at the hands of cruelty. Parker has already endured far too much unimaginable pain, but with proper veterinary care, he has a chance to recover both physically and emotionally. Emergency treatment is expensive, and every day of care matters. Your donation can help cover Parker’s medical expenses and ensure he continues receiving the lifesaving treatment he needs. Please help Parker heal and show him that compassion is stronger than cruelty. Every contribution brings him one step closer to a future free from pain.

Blue

Left to fend for himself, Blue needs you now more than ever.

Paramus, NJ • Friends for Life Animal Rescue

When Friends For Life Animal Rescue first met this handsome Shepherd, they called him Buddy. But after discovering that he already had a family, they learned his real name was Blue. Blue's owner had passed away, and sadly, the family member left behind didn't care for him. Blue was left to fend for himself outside, searching for food and even being attacked by other dogs. Eventually, an ACO brought him to the shelter, where they were able to step in and give him a chance. At just 7 years old, Blue should have had many happy years ahead of him. They took him to their first veterinarian for a full evaluation, but he ended up needing to stay overnight after he began bleeding. He was given medication, and they hoped they were on the right track. But once Blue arrived at his foster home, his foster couldn't shake the feeling that something still wasn't right. A second veterinary visit revealed the truth. X-rays and bloodwork showed that Blue was suffering from a tick-borne illness, something they sadly see far too often in animals who have spent their lives outside without proper care. He was also experiencing significant pain, especially in one of his back legs, making it difficult for him to walk. Blue will need medication for the rest of his life, along with pain medication when necessary. But with the right care, a loving family, and a soft place to land, they hope this sweet boy can finally live the comfortable and pampered life he deserves. Every donation, no matter the size, helps them pay down his medical bills and continue helping the next animal who needs them. And while Blue is just one story, they have so many more animals waiting for their chance. If you can donate, please know that every dollar makes a difference. Thank you for helping us give dogs like Blue the care and second chance they deserve.

Winkles Needs Emergency Surgery to Survive a Life-Threatening Infection

Stanwood, WA • Humane Society - Western Region

Winkles' family thought they were preparing to welcome puppies. Instead, they were faced with a devastating medical emergency that threatened her life. When Winkles began showing signs of severe pain, vomiting, frequent urination, lethargy, and a swollen abdomen, her devoted mom feared she was about to give birth. Living on a limited income while caring for her mother with advanced dementia, she simply didn't have the financial resources to seek veterinary care sooner. Despite the challenges she faces—including using a wheelchair most of the time and recently being diagnosed with breast cancer—she refused to give up on Winkles and reached out to the Humane Society - Western Region for help. We immediately began calling veterinary clinics and was able to secure an emergency ultrasound that same afternoon. The results were heartbreaking. Winkles wasn't pregnant. She was suffering from a closed pyometra, a life-threatening bacterial infection that fills the uterus with pus. Without emergency surgery, the infected uterus could rupture, releasing toxins into her bloodstream and causing sepsis, septic shock, and death. Every minute mattered. The first veterinary hospital quoted nearly $2,500 for the lifesaving surgery. Fortunately, even though our regular veterinarian was unexpectedly unavailable due to his own medical emergency, another veterinarian covering the practice was able to perform the surgery within hours at a much more affordable cost. Winkles underwent emergency surgery to remove her infected uterus and ovaries before the infection became fatal. After such a difficult day, she was exhausted but finally on the road to recovery. Because the veterinary hospital was short-staffed, the veterinarian even took Winkles home to personally monitor her recovery for several days, ensuring she received the care and attention she needed. Now, the Humane Society - Western Region is asking for your help to cover the cost of Winkles' lifesaving care. ## Every contribution directly supports Winkles' emergency treatment, including: Emergency ultrasound and exam: $160 – Confirmed Winkles' life-threatening closed pyometra and allowed veterinarians to act quickly. Emergency pyometra surgery: $900 – Removed her infected uterus and ovaries before the infection could become fatal. Anesthesia: $150 – Kept Winkles safe and comfortable during her lifesaving procedure. Laboratory testing: $54 – Evaluated her health before surgery. IV catheter and fluids: $85 – Provided hydration and supported her throughout surgery and recovery. Pain medication: $30 – Helped keep Winkles comfortable after surgery. Antibiotics (Amoxicillin): $10 – Treated and prevented infection during recovery. Anti-inflammatory medication (Rimadyl): $14 – Reduced pain and inflammation as Winkles healed. Recovery e-collar: $25 – Protected her surgical incision while she recovered. Total veterinary expenses: $1,428 The Humane Society - Western Region stepped in without hesitation to save Winkles' life, making sure finances didn't stand in the way of the emergency care she desperately needed. Every dollar raised will help cover her medical expenses and allow the rescue to continue saying "yes" when another pet arrives with a life-threatening emergency. No family should have to lose a beloved companion because emergency veterinary care is out of reach. Your donation—whether it's enough to help cover medications, anesthesia, or a portion of Winkles' surgery—will make a real difference in her recovery and help ensure more pets receive the second chance they deserve. Thank you for giving Winkles the opportunity to heal, recover, and enjoy many more happy years with the family who loves her.

Help a Small Shelter Save Joker's Life

Vallejo, CA • Humane Society North Bay

Joker suffers from severe, chronic ear disease that has persisted for years despite extensive medical treatment. Repeated infections and ongoing inflammation have permanently damaged the delicate structures within his ear canals, causing him chronic pain and discomfort. Although medications, medicated ear cleanings, specialty care, and strict dietary management have helped control his allergies and improve his skin, they can no longer reverse the irreversible damage to his ears. His veterinary dermatologist has determined that medical management alone is no longer enough. The recommended treatment is a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA), a specialized surgical procedure in which the diseased ear canal is removed and the infected tissue is cleaned out to eliminate the source of chronic pain and infection. While the surgery results in loss of hearing in the affected ear, dogs with longstanding chronic ear disease often already have little functional hearing due to years of damage. TECA is widely considered the gold standard treatment for end-stage chronic ear disease and offers the best opportunity for lasting pain relief and a dramatically improved quality of life. Because both of Joker's ears have been affected, he may ultimately require TECA surgery on both sides. The cost of this specialized surgery typically ranges from $4,000 to $7,000 per ear, depending on the complexity of the case, the surgeon, and postoperative care. For a small nonprofit shelter already stretched to its financial limits, this represents an expense that is simply beyond our ability to absorb. Without surgery, Joker will continue to endure painful, recurring infections that become increasingly difficult to manage. Our greatest fear is that his pain will eventually reach a point where humane euthanasia becomes the only compassionate option—not because his condition is untreatable, but because we cannot afford the treatment that could save him from a lifetime of suffering.

Three-month-old puppy needs your help after suffering devastating head injuries.

Kewaskum, WI • Pawsitive Sanctuary Inc

\*Trigger warning\* She has only been in this world for three months, yet she's already endured unimaginable cruelty. Someone repeatedly struck this tiny puppy in the head with what veterinarians believe was a heavy metal object, causing catastrophic trauma. The force of the blows were so severe that her eyes were displaced from their sockets. A compassionate local found her and contacted Pawsitive Sanctuary immediately, and they rushed to get her the emergency care she desperately needed. When their rescue team arrived, they weren't sure she would make it. She cried constantly, shook her head in confusion, and struggled to walk, unable to understand the pain she had been forced to endure. Watching such a young puppy fight through that kind of suffering was heartbreaking. Leaving her behind was never an option. Veterinarians believe her injuries are consistent with repeated blows from an object such as a metal pipe. The trauma to her skull is extensive, and she now faces a long, difficult road to recovery. Despite everything she's been through, she's still fighting, and so are her caretakers. As they searched for more information about what happened, they learned that approximately three months ago, another puppy believed to be from the same litter or family died after sustaining nearly identical injuries in the same area. They cannot confirm the cases are connected, but the possibility is frightening. Their team is working closely with local residents to gather information while doing everything possible to save this little girl's life. She has been stabilized, but her journey is only beginning. She will require multiple surgeries to repair the devastating injuries to her head and eyes, followed by extensive medical care and rehabilitation. The cost of treatment will be overwhelming, but they're committed to giving her every chance at the future she deserves. We're asking for your help today. Every dollar, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to funding the surgeries and specialized care she needs to survive and heal. Thank you for standing beside this brave little puppy when she needs compassionate people the most.

Starlight's Routine Spay Turned Into a Medical Emergency

Westminster, MD • Maryland Animal Rescue Foundation (MARF)

Starlight came into rescue searching for the second chance she deserved. She arrived from Prince George's County with behavioral challenges that had made it difficult for her to find stability. But beneath those struggles was a loving, affectionate dog who simply needed patience, understanding, and the opportunity to thrive. From the moment she arrived, Starlight showed everyone around her just how special she is. With a wagging tail, a gentle heart, and an eagerness to connect, she quickly won over the people caring for her. Through training, rehabilitation, and consistency, she began making progress toward the future she had always deserved. Then everything changed. What was expected to be a routine spay procedure quickly turned into a medical emergency. Shortly after surgery, Starlight's condition began to decline rapidly. She was rushed for emergency veterinary care and hospitalized at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Va. During diagnostic testing, veterinarians discovered a splenic mass containing fluid, along with free fluid in her abdomen. These findings are extremely concerning and require immediate hospitalization, advanced diagnostics, intensive monitoring, and potentially additional procedures to determine the cause and give Starlight the best possible chance of recovery. Adding to the heartbreak, veterinarians recently determined that Starlight is not the younger dog she was originally believed to be. Instead, she is estimated to be approximately 7 to 8 years old. Yet despite everything she is facing, Starlight continues to fight. She still seeks affection. She still wants to be close to people. She still greets those caring for her with the same loving spirit that has carried her through every challenge so far. As a rescue, no one wants financial limitations to determine whether an animal receives lifesaving medical care. But emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, specialist care, and ongoing treatment are expected to cost up to $7,000, creating a significant burden for a rescue already committed to helping animals in need. Your donation will help cover the cost of Starlight's emergency hospitalization, advanced diagnostics, monitoring, treatment, and any additional procedures needed to give her the best chance at recovery. Starlight came to rescue looking for a second chance. Today, she is fighting for the chance to keep living. Please help give this sweet girl the care, comfort, and medical support she urgently needs. Thank you for standing with Starlight and helping her continue her fight. 7/17/26 Update: Starlight Experienced Complications Starlight has experienced additional medical complications and continues to need specialized veterinary care. She is scheduled to see an internal medicine specialist on July 17 for further evaluation to help determine the best path forward. Thank you for continuing to keep Starlight in your thoughts. Your support is helping ensure she receives the diagnostics and medical care she needs during this difficult time. Another update will be shared as more information becomes available following her evaluation.

Give Gonzo More Time: Help Fund Life-Saving Radiation Treatment

Wakefield, MA • Paws 4 A Cure

Six-year-old Gonzo isn't just a dog—he's family, best friend, therapist, and the heart of a loving household. Now, this sweet Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, and Belgian Malinois mix is facing the fight of his life. Just weeks ago, Gonzo's parents noticed something was wrong. The energetic, tennis-ball-obsessed dog who had always been by their side began stumbling and losing his balance while playing. Concerned, they rushed him to specialists, where an MRI revealed devastating news: Gonzo has an inoperable brain tumor known as a meningioma. Without treatment, veterinarians have told his family that Gonzo may only have months to live. But there is hope. His veterinary team believes radiation therapy can significantly improve both his quality of life and prognosis. They are optimistic that with treatment, Gonzo can continue doing what he loves most—chasing tennis balls, making his family laugh, and creating precious new memories. The challenge is the cost. Radiation treatment is estimated to cost between $13,661 and $14,411. Paws 4 A Cure has generously provided a $300 grant, but Gonzo's family still needs help raising $8,400 to move forward with the care that could save his life. For Gonzo's parents, this diagnosis came at an especially emotional time. Just five days after learning about Gonzo's brain tumor, they received life-changing news of their own: they are expecting their first child. Now, amid the excitement of preparing for a new baby, they are facing the heartbreaking possibility of losing the dog who has been with them through every major chapter of their lives. Gonzo entered their lives as a young dog and quickly became their constant companion. Together, they survived a serious car accident, a devastating apartment fire, displacement, illness during the COVID pandemic, and the loss of a beloved family member. Through every hardship, Gonzo was there—offering comfort, companionship, and a reason to keep moving forward. When life felt overwhelming, Gonzo would gently remind them to put their worries aside, grab a tennis ball, and find joy in the moment. His family describes him as the glue that holds them together. Now Gonzo needs them—and all of us. Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide the radiation treatment that could give Gonzo more time with the people who love him most. More time for walks. More time for tennis balls. More time for cuddles. More time to be there when his family's newest member arrives. Most importantly, your support could help make one beautiful moment possible: giving Gonzo the chance to meet the baby he is already so deeply loved by. If you are unable to donate, please share Gonzo's story. Every share helps bring him closer to the lifesaving treatment he urgently needs. Please donate today and help Gonzo continue being the heart of his family for years to come.

$1,500 Stands Between Kona and Relief

Wakefield, MA • Paws 4 A Cure

Meet Kona — a devoted, gentle soul who has spent the last 13 years by his family’s side. Now at 15 years old, this sweet Pitbull mix should be enjoying his golden years in comfort. Instead, he’s in pain—and he needs our help. Kona is currently battling severe double ear infections, a painful abscess in his gum, and concerning facial swelling that may require further diagnostics. His discomfort is constant—head shaking, scratching, and the deep, lingering pain of infection that won’t resolve without medical care. His veterinary team has recommended urgent treatment, including a cytology and deep ear cleaning to identify and treat the infection at its source. Because of the severity, Kona will likely need sedation to safely and thoroughly clean his ears and relieve the pressure and pain. At the same time, his dental abscess must be addressed through a full oral exam, possible drainage, and potentially even a biopsy to rule out more serious conditions. These are not optional procedures—they are critical to easing Kona’s suffering and preventing his condition from worsening. Kona’s family is doing everything they can, but they’re facing significant financial hardship. After a recent medical diagnosis left his dad unable to work and a job loss impacted their household, affording this urgent care has become overwhelming. Thanks to a $250 grant from Paws 4 A Cure, part of Kona’s treatment is already covered—but he still needs $1,500 more to move forward with the care that will relieve his pain and give him comfort again. Kona isn’t just a pet—he’s family. He came into their lives during a difficult time, forming an instant bond that has only grown stronger over the years. He’s been their comfort, their joy, their constant. Now, he needs them—and us. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings Kona closer to the treatment he desperately needs. And if you’re not able to give, sharing his story can make all the difference. Please help us give Kona the relief he deserves. Help him heal. Help him rest comfortably again. Paws 4 A Cure relies on compassionate supporters like you to provide life-saving veterinary care for pets in need across the country. Your tax-deductible donation doesn’t just help Kona—it helps families stay whole during their hardest moments. Thank you for standing with Kona. 5/15/26 Update Kona underwent surgery this week, and we’re so grateful to share that he is now recovering comfortably at home with his loving family by his side. During his procedure, Kona received the deep ear cleaning and medical treatment he desperately needed to address his severe double ear infections and painful dental issues. After living with so much discomfort, he is finally beginning to experience some relief. His family says he already seems more comfortable and is resting peacefully as he heals. At 15 years old, Kona has spent a lifetime giving unconditional love, loyalty, and comfort to the people who adore him most. Thanks to your compassion and generosity, they were able to say “yes” to the care he urgently needed during an incredibly difficult time for their family. Your support helped ease not only Kona’s pain, but also the overwhelming burden his family was facing while navigating medical and financial hardships of their own. Because of you, Kona received the treatment that will help him enjoy his senior years with greater comfort, dignity, and love. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing beside Kona and his family when they needed it most. Crying Out in Pain: Hector Needs Amputation Now

Huntington, WV • One by One Animal Advocates

Hector is a senior beagle mix who should be spending his days resting comfortably, enjoying gentle walks, and soaking up love. Instead, he’s been surviving in pain. This sweet boy was found as a stray and brought to a rural Kentucky shelter, where his condition quickly broke hearts. Hector is overweight, older, and struggling—but what hurts him most is a severely damaged front leg. An X-ray revealed the devastating truth: Hector’s leg was broken long ago and never treated. The injury has healed incorrectly and is now far beyond repair. While our team always does everything possible to save a limb—even for balance—Hector’s leg is no longer helping him. It’s only causing him pain. He holds it tightly against his body, unable to use it, and cries out when it accidentally touches the ground. The kindest and only option left is amputation. While that may sound scary, dogs like Hector often experience incredible relief after surgery. Without the constant pain of a non-functional limb, they can finally move comfortably again—and many go on to live happy, mobile lives. Hector deserves that chance. Right now, he is waiting—hurting, uncomfortable, and overlooked. But with your help, we can give him the surgery he urgently needs, along with pain management, recovery care, and the support to help him adjust and thrive. After everything he’s endured, Hector deserves to feel safe in his own body again. Please consider donating to help Hector get the life-changing care he needs. Every gift brings him one step closer to comfort, healing, and hope 4/28/26 Update Thanks to your incredible generosity, Hector has officially received the life-changing surgery he so desperately needed. His damaged front leg was successfully amputated, removing the source of the chronic pain he had been carrying for far too long. For a senior dog who had been surviving with an old, untreated fracture that never healed properly, this surgery marks the beginning of a far more comfortable future. In addition to his orthopedic care, Hector also tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently being treated with doxycycline to help address that infection as well. As expected, recovery has come with a few challenges. Because Hector lost a front load-bearing leg and is also carrying extra weight, adjusting to his new balance and center of gravity is taking time. His care team is carefully assisting him through this transition while also helping him slim down with a healthy diet plan to make mobility easier on his body. The wonderful news is that Hector continues to show everyone exactly who he is: a very sweet, happy boy who is taking each day in stride. He is healing, adapting, and getting stronger. Most importantly, Hector is no longer living with the constant pain of that unusable limb. Because of your donations, this deserving senior now has the chance to move forward in comfort and with dignity—something every dog deserves in their golden years. Thank you for giving Hector not just surgery, but relief, recovery, and hope for brighter days ahead.

Help Enzo Fight Heartworm Disease

Wakefield, MA • Paws 4 A Cure

Meet Enzo, a lovable five-year-old German Shepherd from Georgia who is bravely battling heartworm disease — a serious and painful condition that requires urgent treatment. Without care, his health will continue to decline. But with help, Enzo can get back to doing what he loves most: running, playing, and enjoying life with his family. Enzo’s journey to safety began when he appeared on a shelter euthanasia list. His foster family saw his photo, noticed the gray on his snout, and couldn’t stop thinking about him — imagining their own dog in that position. When no one stepped forward by the deadline, they made the decision to foster him, giving Enzo a second chance at life. After leaving the shelter, Enzo faced several health challenges, including kennel cough and whipworms. During follow-up care, he was also diagnosed as heartworm positive. The diagnosis explained why he tired easily and needed extra rest — and it meant he would need immediate, specialized treatment. Enzo has already completed 30 days of doxycycline and has started preventative medication. His next step is melarsomine injections — the life-saving treatment that will eliminate the heartworms. Despite everything he’s been through, Enzo has settled into his foster home beautifully. He’s formed a close bond with his new canine sibling and has brought so much joy into their lives. His family is committed to giving him the long, healthy life he deserves — and your support can help make that possible. You can help Enzo heal. Every donation — no matter the size — goes directly toward his veterinary care and brings him one step closer to recovery. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing Enzo’s story or keeping him in your thoughts also makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for helping give this deserving dog the second chance he’s been waiting for. 4/25/26 Update We are so happy to share that, thanks to the incredible generosity of Waggle donors, Enzo is now receiving the heartworm treatment he desperately needed. When Enzo left the shelter euthanasia list behind, his foster family promised him a second chance at life. But that second chance came with unexpected medical hurdles, including his heartworm diagnosis — a serious condition that would have continued to damage his heart and lungs without prompt intervention. Because of your support, Enzo is now able to move forward with the critical treatment plan his veterinarians recommended. This means he is one step closer to being heartworm-free, healthy, and able to enjoy the active, happy life every dog deserves. Heartworm treatment is a long process that requires careful monitoring, restricted activity, and patience, but Enzo is finally on the road to recovery — and that road was made possible by compassionate people like you who chose to help. His foster family is beyond grateful to know that finances will not stand in the way of giving Enzo the care he needs to heal. Thank you for helping transform Enzo’s rescue story into a true second chance. Your donations are giving this deserving boy the opportunity for many healthy years ahead filled with love, play, and safety. From all of us — and especially Enzo — thank you for making this healing journey possible.

Sweet Betty needs your help!

Harrisburg, PA • Castaway Critters, The James A. Hueholt Memorial Foundation for Animals

Betty was found sitting quietly at a stop sign when Castaway Critters was called to rescue her. She is only about a year old, but her body tells a much harder story. When she was found, Betty was severely emaciated, her small frame worn down from what appears to have been life as a breeder mom. She had painful bite wounds, a severe infection, and her teeth had been filed down. Her skin was inflamed with hot spots, and in her distress, she had chewed her own paw pads so badly that she could barely walk. And yet, Betty greets people with the sweetest spirit. Despite everything she has endured, she wiggles with excitement when someone comes near. Her little body tries so hard to show happiness, and her tiny underbite gives her the most endearing smile. She leans into gentle hands and looks up with trusting eyes, as if she still believes that kindness is coming. Betty is now safe, but her road to recovery will be long. She needs intensive veterinary care to treat her infections, heal her skin, manage her pain, and help her regain strength so she can walk comfortably again. For a dog so young who has already suffered so much, this care is essential to give her the life she deserves. We are asking for help to give Betty that chance. Veterinary treatment, medications, and supportive care add up quickly, and Castaway Critters cannot do it alone. If Betty’s story touches your heart, please consider making a donation to support her recovery. Every contribution will go directly toward helping her heal and giving her the opportunity to experience the love and safety she has never known. \\\\----- \\\_If funds raised exceed the goal for this campaign, Waggle will use the surplus to help other animals in catastrophic situations and support our mission to end economic euthanasia.\\\_ 4/14/26 Update Betty is on the mend and receiving the treatment she needs at the moment, along with lots of love from the wonderful care at Castaway Critters. 5/19/26 Update We are incredibly grateful to all of the support Betty received. We are happy to report she is doing excellent. All of her wounds have healed, and she is up to a healthy weight. She was able to attend a baseball game where she got to assist in throwing the first pitch. She has moved to her foster-to-adopt home. Thank you!

Malee

Help This Brave Mama Beat Cancer

Mae Rim, CA • Hand to Paw Foundation

When villagers brought a young street dog to Hand To Paw Foundation’s spay day, they came with good intentions. They had managed to humanely trap her so she could be sterilized — a critical step in preventing more homeless puppies. But when we saw her, everything changed. Malee is a young, ownerless street dog — and she was suffering. She had a large, bloody, dripping tumor consistent with Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT), a contagious cancer spread through mucous membrane contact. It was painful. It was advanced. And it needed urgent treatment. And yet, even in that condition, her body told another story. Malee was producing a significant amount of milk. It was clear she was actively nursing a litter of puppies — even though they weren’t with her when she arrived. Spaying her that day was not an option. We declined the procedure, knowing she needed to finish nursing first. Instead, we offered something more urgent: hospitalization and cancer treatment. We also committed to keeping Malee and her puppies together for two weeks so they could slowly and safely wean — giving us time to vaccinate, deworm, and provide flea prevention for the entire family. While TVT can technically be transmitted through direct mucous membrane contact, including suckling, the risk to nursing puppies is considered extremely low. In fact, we — and many experienced rescuers — have never seen transmission occur this way. Keeping Malee with her babies was not only safer emotionally, but medically reasonable. Today, her puppies are thriving. They’ve received veterinary care and are now up for adoption — safe, protected, and full of possibility. And now it’s Malee’s turn. She will begin chemotherapy this week to treat her cancer. TVT is one of the few cancers in dogs that responds incredibly well to chemo — with a strong success rate when treatment is consistent. Malee has an excellent chance of full recovery. But she needs us to see it through. As a young street dog with no owner, Malee has no one else to advocate for her. No one else to cover the cost of hospitalization, chemotherapy sessions, medications, diagnostics, and follow-up care. That responsibility falls to us — and to compassionate supporters like you. Malee has already given everything to her puppies. She endured pain while nursing them. She protected them while battling cancer. She deserves the same devotion in return. Malee’s story could have ended at a spay clinic with her cancer untreated. Instead, she was given a chance. Please help us make sure that chance turns into a cure. Donate today to support Malee’s chemotherapy and give this brave mama the healthy, pain-free future she deserves. 3/19/26 Update We’re happy to share a positive update on brave mama Malee and her little family! Since the last update, Malee and all of her puppies have been doing well under the care of Hand To Paw Foundation. The entire family has now been dewormed, vaccinated twice, treated for fleas, and provided with nutritious food to help them grow strong and healthy. Even better news—two of the puppies have already been adopted! Seeing them begin their new lives in loving homes is exactly what we hoped for when we first stepped in to help this little family. As for Malee, we have been carefully preparing for the next step in her treatment. The plan was to begin chemotherapy right away for her Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT), but the transition away from her puppies has been harder than expected. When separated, the puppies cry out for their mom, and it’s clear that the bond between them is still very strong. Because of this, we’ve made the compassionate decision to give them one more week together before starting Malee’s chemotherapy. During this time, we’ve also completed Malee’s spay surgery and are actively working to find loving homes for the rest of her puppies so they can begin their own happy futures. Malee has already endured so much while caring for her babies, and we want to make sure this transition is as gentle and stress-free as possible for everyone involved. While two puppies have found homes, the remaining puppies are still looking for families, and Malee’s chemotherapy treatment is about to begin soon. We still need support to cover the cost of her ongoing veterinary care, including chemo treatments, medications, and follow-up visits. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to help us continue Malee’s treatment and give this devoted mama the healthy future she deserves. Every contribution helps us care for Malee and the animals who rely on us for a second chance. Thank you for standing with Malee and her puppies. Your compassion is helping rewrite their story. 4/21/26 Update Malee’s story began with urgency, uncertainty, and a whole lot of courage. Today, we’re able to share the ending we were all hoping for — one that’s quiet, powerful, and deeply meaningful. After weeks of dedicated care, Malee has officially completed her chemotherapy treatment for Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) — and we are beyond grateful to say that her cancer has been fully treated. This young street mama, who once arrived in pain with an advanced, bleeding tumor while still nursing her babies, fought through every step of treatment with resilience. Because of your support, she received the full course of care she needed: diagnostics, chemotherapy, spay surgery, and recovery. Her puppies — the ones she protected even while suffering — are now safe. They received full veterinary care, and one by one, they’ve been finding homes and brighter futures. And Malee? She’s ready for her next chapter too. Malee remains quite shy and still very unsure of people. Life on the streets has taught her to be cautious, and that won’t disappear overnight. But she is safe now. She is no longer in pain. And she carries a small but important symbol of her journey — an ear notch, marking that she has been spayed and cared for. In the coming days, Malee will be returned to her community — the place she knows, now as a healthy, protected dog. She will no longer contribute to the cycle of suffering, and she will no longer carry the burden of untreated disease. Malee’s life was changed because people chose to act — the villagers who brought her in, and every one of you who supported her care. Thank you for standing with Malee. You didn’t just save her life — you gave her a future.

Will You Help Penny Get X-Rays and an Ultrasound?

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Penny’s past was filled with unimaginable horror. Her front elbow and leg were badly broken but never tended to. She now walks with a permanent limp. Thankfully, Penny managed to escape her tormentors by limping across a field toward safety. After being found by a good Samaritan, she was surrendered to a shelter and then transferred to NE Ohio Greyhound Sanctuary. Penny arrived 3 years ago with stage two kidney failure, a skin infection, heartworm, and Ehrlichia, which is a tickborne illness. She's been treated for the parasites and infections, and her kidney function improved. But now she started passing blood in her urine and needs x-rays and an ultrasound at Madison Vet Hospital to diagnose the problem and provide treatment. Despite the abuse she suffered, Penny is sweet and kind and forgiving. She gets along well with all the other hounds at the Sanctuary, has a hearty appetite, isn't picky about eating her allergy diet food, likes to chew on toy bones and has become quite attached to her caretakers. Penny's soulful eyes, however, still hint at her former abuse and there are times when she seems very sad. As a registered nonprofit animal sanctuary, NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue relies on donations to pay for vet bills and medical care. They have been able to raise money for some of Penny's bills, but they need help to pay for x-rays and ultrasound. Will you please help Penny?

I was just 8 months old & was getting passed around. I found my forever home with my moma at house 5. I had a big sister, Fiona. I loved her so much. She got cancer too & crossed the rainbow bridge in September 2021. Mom loves me so much. She never had human kids just fur babies. I have cancer now too. Mom told me she wants to give me the BEST rest of my life this summer. We need your help After bravely beating 2 kinds of cancer in the past 3 years. I got the sad news that I have a nasty bad kinda cancer, B cell lymphoma. My Oncologist Dr. Pagano @ Summit Veterinary Referral Center in Tacoma, WA has the Gold standard treatment plan for me called, CHOP. Even with my awesome insurance my mom can't pay for it all by herself. Unfortunately I don't have a job. Chris is my ride or die guy. He goes Everywhere with me. He's been certified as an emotional support animal. He's won the hearts of my senior parents. Grandpa is in a care home & he always asks for Chris to visit him. At 91 yrs old grandma gets down on her knees for Chris to kiss her goodnight. He's the best snuggler & shows his emotions in his facial expressions. After my first fur baby got sick I swore I would never have a dog without insurance. Chris has the premium plan, but still not enough to cover the costs of his new chemotherapy treatment.

This Friendly Giant Needs Your Help Getting a Wheelchair

Paramus, NJ • Friends for Life Animal Rescue

When Friends for Life Animal Rescue first met Horse, a massive Great Pyrenees mix, he was wandering around a resort, alone and suffering. Vacationers, who had been there for a few weeks, had seen him limping, thin, and in pain. The vacationers searched for his owner and soon heard that his original family supposedly knew he was loose—but didn’t want him back. Heartbroken, Friends for Life took Horse in and quickly realized the extent of his suffering. He had a large growth on his front left leg and a painful, open cyst on his hip. The cyst was treated, and X-rays showed no fractures, but their vet feared bone cancer or Valley Fever, which is a fungal infection common in the area. While he was started on antibiotics, his condition worsened. His front left leg became swollen and excruciatingly painful, leaving only one choice—amputation. It was a tough decision, but they knew it was his best chance at a pain-free life. After surgery, with time, love, and care, Horse has made a remarkable recovery. But he's now facing a new challenge; learning to walk and live with only 3 legs. For big dogs like Horse, this can cause an uncomfortable imbalance due to the altered weight distribution and increased stress on their remaining limbs. Osteoarthritis, joint problems, and even spine problems could be potential issues down the road. Friends for Life Animal Rescue is looking into wheelchairs for Horse so he can have the best life and mobility possible and mitigate any future health problems. However, this will come at no small cost due to his size and needing to have it customized to fit him. Will you please consider donating today? Thank you!

Flea-Covered and Forgotten — Help Roshi Get the Care He Needs

Magnolia, TX • D&A Animal Rescue

A few days ago, D&A Animal Rescue saved a sweet, scared senior dog who came far too close to losing his life—he was nearly hit by several cars while wandering the streets alone. This gentle soul, now named Roshi, had been fending for himself for weeks. After speaking with neighbors and checking local community apps, D&A learned that no one was looking for him. He had no collar, no microchip, and no safe place to call home. Roshi is in rough shape. His body is covered in fleas, he hasn’t been neutered, and he’s long overdue for vaccinations. D&A is also preparing to test him for heartworms and other age-related health issues. Despite it all, he wags his tail and leans into love. Medical care for senior dogs can be expensive, and every step—from his initial vet visit to ongoing treatment—is vital to Roshi’s recovery and quality of life. Please consider donating to help Rishi receive the care he needs.

Pepper is a 13 year old Mix-Breed in Pineville , KY, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy/Radiation.

Pineville, KY

I rescued Pepper from the shelter in November 2017. At first, she was scared and wouldn’t let me pet her. After she got in my car, she laid her head back on the seat like she was relieved to be out of that place and has been my best girl ever since! She’s been my hiking buddy, my cuddle buddy, my road dog, and my best friend since she came home with me. Pepper developed a lump on her leg and her local vet tested it. It came back as mast cell tumor. She referred us to an oncologist at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center. She was diagnosed with Stage III (T2N1M0) Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumor. They were going to remove the tumor but due to location and size, she was put on chemo. We are hoping to raise funds to do radiation. Pepper has become a member of our family. I never knew one could become so attached to a dog. She is happy, friendly, smart, loving and wants attention all the time. She’s gotten older, but she still tries to make every step I take. They told me at the shelter she was an owner surrender. I’m not sure of their reason, because she truly is the best dog ever! I’m so happy I found her. Chemotherapy and radiation are very expensive treatments. We are unsure of how long the process will be but hope to be able to get her in full remission.

Cali's Comeback: From Crisis to Comfort

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

When Cali was found wandering the streets, she was in heartbreaking shape—filthy, severely matted, and clearly in pain. Her teeth were so rotten she could barely eat. She had been suffering for a long time. She was brought to the local shelter, but her condition was dire. That’s when Pooch Savers Rescue stepped in and knew they had to give her a fighting chance. Cali was rushed to the vet for a full evaluation, spay surgery, and bloodwork. The results were alarming—her infection levels were so extreme, the vet initially assumed she had pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection. But after surgery and closer examination, it became clear: the infection was entirely from her mouth. Her vet, with over five decades of experience, said he had never seen a white blood cell count that high from a dental infection. Cali’s mouth was in horrific condition. Her gums were necrotic and rotted down to the bone. She had to undergo multiple dental procedures and ultimately had every single tooth removed. But this strong girl never gave up. Despite the pain, she remained gentle and trusting, as if she knew help had finally arrived. Thanks to the expert care and her incredible resilience, Cali is finally feeling better. She can now eat wet food with far less pain, and her tail is starting to wag again. Her journey has been long and expensive, but she's come so far. Please help us give Cali the happy, pain-free future she has always deserved.

South Bend, IN

I've been a volunteer at South Bend Animal Resource Center for about three and a half years now. Goose was one of the first dogs I worked with. He was adopted by a family one Monday afternoon. They brought him back five days later. On the fifth day they had him, they went out to eat and left him at home by himself. Goose destroyed their living room. I was furious at their stupidity and adopted him At a routine check-up, we discovered Goose has a tumor on his gums. The tumor turned out to be cancerous. He's been back at he vet several times, running up quite a bill. Tomorrow, Goose will go to the Purdue University School of Veterinary Science for treatment The expected cost can easily run up to twenty-three hundred dollars. Goose lives with my and my other two dogs, Ruby and Buddy. Buddy and Goose play together. Goose also likes to go for walks around our neighborhood. Some of my neighbors love Goose almost as much as I do! I'm retired. I get Social Security and a small pension each month. The cost of all this care will cost more than a month's income. I can't afford that. Goose and the other dogs are often the only company I have for days. They are, in many ways, my best friends.

On 01-13-25 at her follow up she was diagnosed with Mast cell Tumors which are cancerous and need to be removed ASAP inorder to save her life and will cost almost $3000 for surgery. Not to mention chemo and medicine after surgery. My daughter's are my whole world! For the last almost 8yrs I have raised Harmony and have given her the best life any fur baby could ever ask for. In January, we made Nico a part of our family, and he is the sweetest baby. In just 6 short months, my daughter has formed a deep bond with Nico. She chose his name after Nico DiAngelo from Percy Jackson 🩷 Nico was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called Pulmonic Stenosis and his case is severe. Without surgery, his prognosis is not good. Washington State University (The Small Animal Teaching Hospital) has recommended Nico have a Stent Implant Procedure. The Cardiologist gave us a good prognosis for Nico, post-operatively. This surgery will SAVE HIS LIFE. Nico is a very special boy for many reasons. His very best friends are his human sisters & brother, but he also has two furry friends named Bella & Tilly that he plays with. Nico makes the funniest noises & he is very energetic. He loves to play, but he also enjoys cuddling up with his humans when it’s nap time. He likes to sleep up on the pillows at the top of the bed like the king of the castle I am a single mother to 3 humans and Nico. I just recently started a new job, and have already drained every penny from my savings paying his bills so far (about 4k) This has been an extremely hard process and unfortunately I don’t have this kind of money, but Nico is family

Mia was living outside in South Carolina, destined to give birth to yet another litter of puppies outdoors We secured foster and two of our volunteers mobilized to drive the 11 hours to pick Mia up. Sadly, Mia gave birth on a cold, rainy day before we reached her. Amazingly, all six puppies survived and came the long journey to NJ into the arms of a loving foster family and devoted volunteers. Mia is the sweetest dog. She is loving with all people, gentle, so caring with her babies, but at the same time a puppy herself, enjoying toys, playing, and long walks. She is devoted to caring for her babies and loves spending time lying at her foster mom's feet while she works when the babies are sleeping. Despite all that she has been through, Mia remains loving and trusting of people. Not many dogs could go through giving birth outside (twice), raising 2 litters of puppies (first was before we knew of her), getting mastitis, a ruptured mammary gland, horrible GI issues and caring for her babies - while still remaining such a wonderful, happy and playful pup herself! Mia was hospitalized with a high fever and mastitis. We believe the bacterial infection stemmed from giving birth outside in the rain and dirt. She also developed necrotic tissue, an abscess and a mammary gland rupture causing an open wound, as well as constant vomiting from motility and GI issues. Mia was hospitalized for 3 nights total, missing her babies the entire time! We are tired, and we are overwhelmed, but we have not given up hope. We are buried in hospital bills – but never willing to give up on these animals that desperately need us. We need you now, more than ever. Thank you for being a treasured part of our Pathway family.

I found this sweet girl on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere. She was so skinny. You could tell she had been abused. She was scared but somehow trusted me to keep her safe. I brought her home. Gave her a bath and started the process of trying to get her to trust me. Three years later, she is a very much loved, spoiled girl. She has really taken to my grandson, Michael. He's on the autistic spectrum and I think she knows he's a little different. Over the years she has really come out of her shell. You can still see little things that still affect her from before she came into our lives. She's such a silly girl. She loves to run laps around the yard. She does this thing with her paw where she reaches out and taps you when she wants pets or attention. But it's the unconditional love she gives us even though someone hurt her in the past. I noticed a small lump under her chin a few months back. It would shrink but come back. Then shrink again. This time however, it didn't shrink. It continued to grow into this larg mass. I finally had to take her to Banfield Pet hospital. They told me they think it's a cancerous growth and needs to be removed. If I can't provide surgery, I should euthanize her because of where it is. I lost my job back in March. I'm the sole provider for my grandson, whom I'm raising. I've been doing Gig jobs to pay the bills but that doesn't leave anything extra. We don't want to have to put her down. She is a member of our family. We just want her healthy again.

Bright as a button, she already knows her name, absolutely adores snuggling and being held, has a lusty appetite, and takes her medications like a champ. Mabel’s soft, melting gaze barely masks her unspeakable pain. And yet, this ailing Beagle is 25 pounds of pure love! Mabel has heartworm disease, a tennis ball-sized inguinal hernia, allergies, upper respiratory infections, advanced dental disease, ear infections, intestinal parasites and anemia. Her liver is also showing signs of stress, most likely from her heavy parasite load. She's started treatments and her eyes are brighter and her energy level is improving. She's always ready for attention, now. As intimidating as these various conditions sound, the good news is that all of this is fixable! It will take many, many months, but Mabel has a good chance of living a long life if she continues to receive the care she needs. The most pressing issue now is clearing her of heartworm. She will be retested in 6-7 months and if the treatments worked, she'll be ready for her surgeries. We are a non-profit animal sanctuary that provides high quality, lifetime care for severely ill animals, like Mabel, that have no other options. Donations are crucial for saving the lives of these animals. Can you help this most deserving beagle? Please?

Donnie

Donnie is a 3-year-old Mix in Huntington, WV, who needs $2,000 for Pulmonic Valvular Stenosis.

Huntington, WV • One by One Animal Advocates

If you could see Donnie run and play, you may admire his handsome good looks or laugh at his silly antics. You’d probably never realize he had a serious heart condition that, if left untreated, will cause his death at a prematurely early age. Several months ago we pulled Donnie from the shelter intending to send him to rescue. It was not until we sent him to be neutered that we realized he had a serious medical condition. Donnie has Pulmonic Valvular Stenosis, which means the critical valve that allows blood to flow between Donnie’s heart and lungs is not working. If left untreated, Donnie will develop irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, then die. The great news is veterinary medicine has progressed so much, that Donnie’s LIFE CAN BE SAVED through a special procedure by a cardiologist at Medvet. They can insert a balloon into that valve and open it, allowing Donnie’s body to once again have oxygenated blood. It is a very technical procedure that comes with an associated high price. It is really no different than paying for orthopedic surgeries for 2-3 dogs, and this is a matter of LIFE OR DEATH for Donnie. From the bottom of our hearts at One By One Animal Rescue and Donnie’s, we are asking you to help Donnie live by making a donation towards his surgery today.

Teddy

Teddy is a 6-year-old Pomeranian/Poodle mix in Hawthorne, NJ, who needs $2,000 for emergency surgery.

Hawthorne, NJ • A Pathway to Hope

Please help! Teddy needs exploratory surgery – and we have no idea what will be found. Teddy went into distress yesterday, and we immediately acted to support him and his mom, Margie. Teddy is a 6-year-old Pomeranian / poodle mix, who was rescued from Egypt by Pathway in 2018, noted to have been neutered by the sending rescue. Teddy was not eating, nauseas and lethargic for 2 days when we hospitalized him with the amazing medical team at Eclipse. Bloodwork, xrays and ultrasound all point to the same thing – Teddy has an abdominal mass that is believed to be either his testicle(s) or leftover tissue / sponge from his neuter. A tumor has been detected on the tissue believed to be his testes that will be biopsied. He was in critical shape, having been sent home from another hospital the day previous due to his mom’s lack of funds. It was our commitment to Margie and Teddy to always be there for them – and we need your help! Because of Teddy’s condition, and the nature of this exploratory surgery, the safest thing is to keep him on supportive care stabilized in hospital and send him right into surgery. Please help us to be there for Teddy, and Margie, with your donation today. Our funds have been badly depleted due to recent emergencies, surgeries and hospitalizations, and we can not continue our critically needed work without your support, and your HOPE.

Edith

Edith is a 2-month-old Mix in Burns, TN, who needs $3,575 for Surgery for Hydrocephalus.

Burns, TN

Edith was rescued by Proverbs12:20 Animal Rescue from a very poor community where there were no local rescues to save her and 18 other puppies. Sadly, Edith has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a congenital disease that causes an excess of cerebrospinal fluid in the skull leading to brain swelling. Without treatment, this condition can cause severe brain damage or even death. Edith lives in a foster home with experienced caregivers doing everything possible to make her comfortable. Although she sleeps a lot due to hydrocephalus, she still manages to play with her sibling and wag her tail when given attention. To give this precious pup a chance at a better life, surgery is necessary to drain the fluid. Edith is just eight weeks old and deserves every chance she can get. With your support, she can receive the medical care she desperately needs. Please consider donating to her surgery!
