Mini

Mini is a 1.5 year old Perro de Presa Canario in South Salem, NY, who needs $7,000 for TPLO Surgery Both Rear Legs.

South Salem, NY

We were in the pet store getting treats for our other 2 rescue dogs. We saw Mini, and could not leave her with the rescue organization. She is the joy of our lives. Mini is a 1.5 year old sweet, mostly mastiff, female dog who can no longer walk without pain. She needs knee surgery on BOTH her rear knees. We’ve tried EVERYTHING to raise the money for the surgery but are falling short. Mini has 2 brothers, both rescues and both are also suffering while watching Mini in pain. Mini keeps us safe from all the animals on TV! She barks furiously when she sees one and looks at us as if to say… don’t you see what I see? Mini is the baby of the family and loves to play with her older brothers - but she can’t now and that is heartbreaking. We recently lost water to our home and had to replace the well and the line to our house. We did not have enough money to cover that expense and have nothing left for this surgery. I have applied for a care card-only approved for 20% of the total cost.

Tosha

Tosha is a 16 year old Mix-Breed in Poughkeepsie, NY, who needs $16,000 for Multi-Agent Lymphoma Chemotherapy.

Poughkeepsie, NY

Tosha was found with his siblings in a box at Queensbridge Park beneath the Queensboro Bridge. We adopted him through a rescuer in Astoria in 2010. His name was Mittens, but the moment I met him, he looked like a Tosha. He has been the king of my heart ever since. After losing weight and becoming ill, Tosha was referred to Guardian Veterinary Specialists, where he was diagnosed with high-grade T-cell lymphoma. Under the care of board-certified veterinary oncologist Dr. Berg, he began chemotherapy with the hope of achieving remission. His treatment plan includes chemotherapy, regular blood work, an ultrasound, a Nu.Q® test, and ongoing oncology evaluations. Tosha has the gentlest soul I’ve ever known. In 16 years, he has never hurt anyone, even when he was scared or in pain. He sleeps on my pillow every night, wakes me with a gentle paw at breakfast, and insists water tastes best from a dripping faucet. His quiet, loving nature has made him the heart of our family. Two years ago, we welcomed our daughter, and I made the decision to stay home to raise her. As life became busier, I assumed I would have many more years with Tosha.Having him healthy again would mean the chance to make up for the time I thought we still had

Chucky

Chucky is suffering from congestive heart failure and needs your help.

New Milford, CT • All About the Dogs Rescue

Chucky became an AATDR dog several months ago, and he's made so much progress! He is learning that people can be his friends, and he is increasingly willing and able to socialize in this big, wide world. Now we need to help him heal physically. Without lifesaving surgery to implant a pacemaker, Chucky is in real danger of sudden death. The medications prescribed by his cardiologist aren't helping nearly as much as hoped. He is still suffering from congestive heart failure. He has a "total block" which means that his heart doesn't pump blood effectively with every beat - it is erratic in its ability to do that. He has degenerative valve disease and an abdomen full of fluid from heart failure, even with the medications. His heart rate is only a maximum of 40 beats per minute. The only way it can be corrected is with a pacemaker. With the pacemaker, we're told the prognosis is excellent. It is expected to be curative, and will allow Chucky to live an active, normal life although he will always need periodic re-checks. Up until being found as a stray in Waterbury CT and spending over 6 months at Waterbury Animal Control, Chucky's history is unknown. Given his medical status and his initial distrust of humans, however, it seems safe to assume that his life had not been a happy one. At the pound, Chucky was hard to "read" - he was unpredictably unsure of some people - so much so that he was listed as "rescue only" - meaning he could leave the pound only if he was under the care of an approved rescue organization. When the pound became full he was scheduled for euthanasia, and we thankfully were able to take him into rescue and thus save his life. Now we need to save it a second time! He's gone through a board and train program. He's learning to trust - possibly for the first time in his life. He is relaxed and happy in his foster home. He is increasingly able to make new human friends. He enjoys the company of other dogs. Chucky is all set to be able to live a long and happy life... except that his heart condition is likely to kill him before he has a chance to experience that! Please join with us to fight for Chucky's life! We need to raise $10,000 - the surgery alone is estimated to cost a minimum of $5,103.50 and a maximum of $5,777.63. We have already spent almost $5,000 on appointments and diagnostics, between his primary vet and his cardiologist. He's had two electrocardiograms and two echocardiograms done. He's had bloodwork done several times. He was treated for two tick-related illnesses when he first came to us - and is being retreated because the positive results of his most recent tick tests were higher than would be the case normally for a dog who had previously been infected. We are currently tapped out. We cannot provide what Chucky needs without your help! Please join Chucky's team by donating as generously as you possibly can, today! He is scheduled for his pacemaker surgery on September 1. We must pay the bill date of service. Chucky needs your help right away!

Leo is a 6 year old French Bulldog in Carmel, NV, who needs $13,000 for MRI & IVDD Surgery.

Carmel, NV

Leo is the sweetest most gentle boy. We’ve had Leo since he was a baby at 12 weeks old. He lives with his mom and dad in Putnam county New York, and loves to go to work with his dad at his barbershop almost every day. Leo loves kids and everyone loves him so much. Leo was diagnosed with IVDD 02/26. We are so distraught by this. He was in severe pain back in the beginning of his diagnosis, his whole quality of life has changed. He is living a shallow version of the life he once had. He has recently been suffering severe neck and shoulder pain followed by horrible muscle spasms. He has been in the care of guardian veterinarian in Brewster NY Leo loves chewing on his bones and goes to sleep every night suckling the nose of his giant stuffed animal named Leona, he loves pup cups from Dunkin’ Donuts and sleeping right in between his dads legs every night to go to sleep. He is the friendly and sweetest soul there ever was Leo means the world to us, we are distraught over this. He’s too young to have this quality of life. We would love to be able to have our baby heal and live the life that his sweet soul deserves.

Cocoa

Cocoa needed emergency hospitalization for kidney care, please help her.

New Milford, CT • All About the Dogs Rescue

Cocoa is the most adorable little senior man! He's a 12-year-old purebred Yorkie. Even though he suffers from a collapsing trachea and is on medications for that, he has an amazing amount of pep in his step. He came to All About the Dogs Rescue when his owners could no longer care for him. His dad had dementia and his mom had broken her hip and was facing a long period of rehabilitation. In the rescue, he lives with one of our wonderful foster families who have a little dog of their own. The two dogs have become besties! Last night, Cocoa's foster family called us. They'd been getting the car loaded to go camping. They'd left a couple of bags of food within Cocoa's reach when they were out at the car for just a few minutes. In that time, Cocoa grabbed the plastic bag that held a loaf of raisin bread, tore open the plastic, and helped himself to a snack. His foster family rushed him to Guardian Veterinary Specialists where they induced vomiting. Much to everyone's horror, that produced no fewer than 24 raisins! Raisins are extremely toxic for dogs even in small amounts. For a 12-lb dog, 24 raisins is a huge amount! Cocoa is hospitalized for a minimum of 48 hours. He is on IV fluids and blood is being drawn periodically to monitor his kidney values. This morning, that showed the values were slightly elevated. They will be checked again this evening and we are praying they don't go higher! Ingesting that number of raisins could be fatal and we are so worried about our boy! We are a small rescue. We work hard to help as much as we possibly can. We're all volunteers. None of us draws a salary for what we do. We are 100% dependent upon donations to cover the cost of care for our dogs. We aren't like the large regional or national organizations. We don't have corporate sponsorships. We depend on caring individuals to join with us to help the dogs needing our help the most. When emergency such as this strikes, we must turn to you - animal lovers and advocates everywhere. In today's animal welfare environment, rescues such as ours are stretched thin and struggling. We have no cushion. We are in desperate need of your help so that we can provide Cocoa with the care he needs! The estimate from Guardian Veterinary Specialists is low estimate $1,698.37 and high estimate $2, 538.40. That is an almost impossible lift for a little rescue such as ours. But we have no choice! Cocoa needs the treatment that only an ER hospital can provide. Please help Cocoa! Your donation, however large or small, will make a huge difference in our ability to give him the best chance to live out his life without what could easily be life-threatening kidney damage. 5/26/26 Update: Cocoa Is Getting Better The good news is that Cocoa was stable enough to leave the emergency vet on Sunday night. His kidney values became only slightly elevated and it would seem that he brought up the majority of the raisins he ate before they were able to exert full toxicity and do real damage to his kidneys. We will be following up this week with his primary veterinarian and repeating bloodwork, and we're praying that he remains stable and there are no complications. At his foster home, Cocoa is sleeping a bit more than he normally does. His appetite is good and his foster mom says he seems to be doing well. He's a senior at 12 years old, and has a collapsing trachea for which he's on medication. We are doing everything in our power to give him as long a time to enjoy the good life as possible. And we need you to help us so that we can provide him with the care he needs. Our rescue bank account is running on fumes. Cocoa's visit to, and stay at, the ER vet cost $2443.71. That is a huge expense for our little rescue! This fundraiser has raised only $800 so far. If you're able to donate \\\\\\\\\\\_anything\\\\\\\\\\\_ it will help! Small donations absolutely add up. We must get this bill paid quickly and we're dependent upon donors' generosity to do that! Rescue always takes a village. Please become part of Cocoa's and AATDR's village by donating today. No donation is too small - and we will be so very grateful for anything you can give. Cocoa is a sweet, friendly, happy boy and, even at his age, he has a lot of pep in his step. Your donations will support our care of him so that he can go on and live his best life for as long as possible! 6/5/26 Update Thanks to everyone who supported sweet Cocoa. He is continuing to do well. There appears to have been no permanent damage to his kidneys, which is wonderful. He also suffers from a collapsing trachea. Our vet feels that when vomiting was induced (absolutely necessary under the circumstances), it may have caused additional strain. For whatever reason, in the past week he's had increasing issues with that and is back on medication to help his breathing. He also has what appears to be a recurring breathing issue - it's unclear whether it's caused by infection or is part of the tracheal issue. At 12 years old, Cocoa is a relative "old man". He still absolutely has pep in his step and loves running around in the yard. We will keep providing as much supportive medical care as makes sense. His quality of life still remains great, and we are in this with Cocoa as long as he lets us know he is ready to enjoy his life.

Moss is a 9 year old Mix-Breed in Sandy Hook, CT, who needs $10,000 for Emergency Care for Chest Trauma & Lung Infection.

Sandy Hook, CT

Moss is an approximately 10-year-old retired tomcat stray who has lived on the streets of the Bronx for most of his life. (he was dumped on the street after his initial family did not neuter him) I have provided regular food, water, shelter, and had him neutered. I named him Moss because he’s a strong, and resilient. If he recovers, he will transition to a safe indoor home. Moss is hospitalized at Guardian Veterinary Specialists after being found vomiting, lethargic, and weak. He was diagnosed with a broken sternum, severe chest infection with pus in his lungs, blood in the lungs, and a punctured lung. He has been hospitalized for one week and is recovering, but his blood pressure remains unstable as he continues to fight. He is not giving up so neither are we! Moss is special because of his quiet resilience and gentle nature. Though he lived on the streets, he formed trust over time and showed affection in his own way by staying close, following routines, and seeking safety nearby. His strength and will to survive are remarkable. Moss’s emergency care is costing $20,000. A rescue group is doing everything they can to save him, but they cannot cover the bill. I need him to recover so he can retire from the streets and finally know the love, safety, and comfort of an indoor home and family.

Duke was hit by a car and rushed to Kingston Animal Emergency Clinic of The Hudson Valley where they discovered he has a broken femur in 3 places, and multiple cuts and abrasions. He was then taken to saugerties animal hospital the next day they had reviewed X-rays and sent us to guardian veterinary specialists where he is currently waiting for surgery rather than amputation. Duke is the protector of the house, he is the boss of his little brother Rookie and the boss of his sister Kenzie. Duke is the first one to greet anyone at the door to be sure he knows you and the last one to go to bed after walking around the house to be sure everyone is in bed. Duke loves visiting the firehouse with me as I am an assistant fire chief and he loves going for walks and car rides I work full time plus I volunteer for my local fire department, this surgery is very costly and unexpected I am the last one to ask anyone for help but I am asking for assistance for Duke to continue giving him that chance to walk and that life he has.

We live in an apartment with our dog Colton, and Jack felt like the perfect addition to our little family. Jack was born without an eye and has a heart murmur. I thought those were his only issues, but he recently had a seizure and may have other unknown conditions. I take him to Guardian Vet and all animals vet in ny where we’re working to get him the care he needs to live a happy, healthy life. Jack is truly one of a kind—full of life and always ready for anything, even if he can’t see it coming. Our other dog, Colton, was used to being the only pup, but he’s grown to love Jack. They’ve bonded so much lately, even sharing toys and cuddling in the same bed. It’s adorable! My boyfriend was injured at work and now works as a bus monitor while I’m a field tech. My daughter suffers from anxiety and is unable to socialize with kids her age so Skye has served as her anchor and emotional support. My dog has a neurological disease where her back legs don't function, and to fix this she would have to go through surgery which is very pricey, the hospital that we took her to was in Brewster NY. My dogs best friend is my daughter, Skye is very loving, loyal, and very supportive. She's always full of joy and has a lot of energy, she loves playing and it is truly sad to see her not able to do the things she loves. I am mother of four and I take care of two other kids, and this happening to Skye was not on my list, I wasn't prepared for this to happen. It is hard seeing Skye not moving around like she usually does and I would really appreciate any sort of help, she is an amazing dog.

Will you help give Saint a second chance?

Gaylordsville, CT • Despurate House Cats

Meet Saint--a young male cat, who's estimated to be between 1 and 3 years old. He came into the care of Despurate House Cats Rescue about 2 months ago after being found outdoors. He was unneutered and in need of medical attention. While it's unclear how long he was living outside, it's evident that he was not receiving the care he needed prior to rescue. After he had his internal medicine consult, the vet discovered a polyp in his airway, making it an extremely delicate location. Due to a high chance of recurrence, he now needs a CT scan to determine the safest and most effective way to remove it. There’s a real possibility that part of his airway may need to be resected, or even that the mass may be inoperable, requiring radiation for complete removal. Saint has since entered foster care and has truly blossomed. He’s affectionate, social, and adjusting beautifully to indoor life. He loves lounging in sunny spots, playing with toys, and cuddling up to his foster family. It's clear that he is grateful to be safe and loved. What’s most remarkable about Saint is how quickly he bonded with his foster family. It was like he was waiting to be saved. Despurate House Cats is a small, passionate 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue, supported 100% by donations from animal lovers like you. Every cat they take in is promised that they’ll never have to struggle alone again; however, the expense Saint has racked up for the rescue has really stretched their funding thing. But of course, he is worth it. Now, they really need your help to cover the cost of his medical care. His exams, biopsies, leukemia virus/FIV test, injections, antibiotics, surgery supplies, and other vet bills have amounted to approximately $750. Can you please help this rescue give Saint the life he deserves? Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you for your generosity!

Flanders, NJ

I’ve had Chance since the day he was born, when I was only 15 years old. He has been by my side now for almost 11 years. He’s been with me through every accomplishment, struggle, break up, multiple moves, the birth of my daughter, everything. He’s been the best companion and protector I could’ve asked for. Chance also has a huge attachment to my 4 year old daughter & sleeps in her room each night. Chance's recent MRI at Guardian Specialists in NY revealed lesions along his lower spine and some by his neck. The lower lesions have compressed on his spine and left his back legs completely immobile. He needs surgery desperately to remove the lowers lesions so he can walk again and we can figure out exactly what he is dealing with. Is this cancer or some other type of treatable infection? Since he was only a baby, Chance has always had the calmest and sweetest demeanor. We have been inseparable since he was born. He is such a smart dog and always excelled in learning new tricks. His favorite things to do are play frisbee and go swimming. He has always made me feel safe when living alone with a young toddler. He truly is the best and loyal dog that deserves more time with his family I have already spent over $10,000 trying to find answers to why he lost his back leg mobility and now we know and need to act. But as a single young mom who has 3 jobs and has to pay rent, a car payment, day care tuition and so much more I simply cannot afford this surgery.

Since then, we have moved from apartment to apartment and living with my parents until October 2019 when I was able to purchase a home. It's a small home, and just the 2 of us. Aside from previous health conditions such as IBD and arthritis, back in April of this year frank was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his back left leg. Amputation was the following day. Since April, we have been back to the vet for checkups, suture removals, imaging, bloodwork, you name it. As of today, we are 1 chemo treatment away from graduating and just found out he has a hyperparathyroidism. Frank is the BEST! He is so in-tune with the people around him, you can't have a bad day without ending it with some lap time and kisses. He is so gentle with kids and puppies/small dogs. He really is a lover and not a fighter. Frank has an amazing community of friends and family that are always happy to have him involved. Unfortunately with the timeline of events this year, vet bills have been piling up faster than paychecks are issued. While he has a lot going on, his prognosis is still GOOD! If we can pay for the next surgery, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.

My mother had recently lost her elderly German Shepherd, Ruby, and was looking for a new canine companion. She moved from Brooklyn after escaping an abusive situation and has been enjoying the quieter life upstate with her pets. Leo suddenly became paralyzed on 9/4/2024. He had been taken out for his usual walk around 3pm but at 7pm, we heard scratching noises from upstairs and found Leo laying down and unable to walk. We immediately took him to Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster, NY. The MRI revealed that Leo suffered a fibrocartilaginous embolism. It may take months for him to recover and walk again. Leo is a special and very sensitive pup. He has been a remarkable companion for my mother, who is very hard of hearing and lives alone. He has brought a lot of joy into her life. Leo is the reason she gets up and out of the house several times a day and he helps to keep her active and healthy. My mother is on a fixed income, and with the rising costs of everything, she already has difficulty making ends meet. On top of that, she had knee replacement surgery on 7/8/24 and is still recovering from that, both physically and financially.

Chadwick came into our life almost 13 years ago. My daughter was intrigued by dogs but afraid at the same time so I thought what better way to get over her fear than to get a dog. Around this same time friends of ours bred their dogs and we felt it was the perfect opportunity for my daughter to have a dog of her own. Shortly after the dogs were born, we visited regularly to get acquainted. Chadwick came into our life and turned our world upside down in a good way. He was always getting into mischief. One night he chewed my favorite shoes. He would try to open the cabinet to get his treats. He barks for attention. He loves to do zoomies around the house unexpectedly. He has different ways of communicating when it’s time for his walk, dinner, etc. Chadwick has many special qualities such as the way he greets us when he wakes up in the morning or when we return from work. He is full of love and we give it right back. He is in tuned with our emotions. If he senses one of us is upset he will stay close by your side and stare while tilting his head in different directions as if trying to figure out what’s wrong. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma. The oncologist believes he has a great prognosis since he has no other illnesses or allergies. She recommends chemotherapy which will cost approximately $12k if he doesn’t have to be hospitalized. His vet is Banfield but he is being treated at Guardian Veterinary Specialist by Dr. McKnight. I am a single parent with a daughter in college. Within the past 10 years I got a divorce, filed for bankruptcy, and started a new career. It seemed like things were starting to settle down when we got the diagnosis. He has been there and I now want to be there for him.

Frenchie Garcia

Frenchie Garcia is a 8-year-old Long Hair Chihuahua in New York , NY, who needs $2,000 for Spay and Hysterectomy.

New York, NY

Frenchie came into my life eight (8) years ago as a gift to self. I am unable to have children so frenchie and her sister fufu are the only children i'll ever have. Frenchie has brought me much joy and laughter and my babies make my life complete. Frenchie was name she responded to when i called it from her batch. It was a perfect match. I love her and she loves me. Frenchie is loved by all our family. When my mom first saw her, she tried changing her name to fufu, and french was going for it. She trained frenchie to travel in fancy purses as if she were the wueen of everything. When i got the second pup, i named her fufu so my mom would have to call frenchie by her given name. It was fun doing that! Frenchie has so much personality. She loves to be rubbed and loves being the center of attention no matter where we are. She will grab your hand and make you rub her belly and if you stop, she will grab it again. She also likes her space, however. She gallops likes a superstar while raising her tail with so much class. She stares at you with those beautiful big brown eyes and is independent. Frenchie has been sluggish the last few days. We took her to vet (banfield) and she was referred to a specialist (Guardian). They both coincided that she has Pyometra and is in urgent need of life saving surgery. Before this, frenchie was perfectly healthy and no issies to report medically. This is such an unexpected expense. We do not have the monetary means to meet the financial implications of this surgical procedure. While i am employed, i do not make the kind of money where having access between $8,000 - $11,000 would be an option.

ROSIE

Rosie is a 8-month-old Black Mouth Cur mix in Branford, CT, who needs $925 for urgent care.

Branford, CT • Murphy's Paw Rescue Inc.

Rosie (formerly Serafina) was born into a world already full of unwanted/homeless puppies just like her. Really, it's a miracle that she even ended up with us at Murphy's Paw Rescue, and then eventually adopted by a family who loves her so very much. Her first 6 months of life were a roller coaster to put it lightly. Her mom gave birth to her and her siblings in a place where they would all eventually be killed or die out on their own. Murphy's Paw Rescue got the desperate plea to take this little family on, or to help pay for their euthanasia. That's right, euthanizing them would have been more humane than leaving them to suffer. It took a lot of resources and many steps to rescue this family, but it happened. Spays and neuters were scheduled down the line for when they would be of age. But for Rosie, when that day came, we got the shocking news that she has a heart condition. Her spay could not be done until she was cleared by a cardiologist. You could imagine how devastated her adoptive family was in that moment. We booked the first available echocardiogram available with Dr. Goodwin at Guardian Vet Specialists. Her loving adoptive family was not only understanding and accommodating throughout, but this was not their first time dealing with heart conditions. Their two young sons also have heart conditions...and so they were no strangers to this process. Rosie's echocardiogram demonstrated mild sub aortic stenosis. And although cleared for spay with special anesthesia, she will still need another echo in July 2024 to follow the progress of her condition. Each echo costs $953, so a total of $1,906 in funding is needed.

Flonsky is a 1-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Pleasantville, NY, who needs $2,000 for Intestinal Resection/Anastomosis.

Pleasantville, NY

Flonsky's tale began on the treacherous streets of Beirut, Lebanon. A tiny kitten, he was found by fate, his spirit unbroken despite the hardships he faced. When I took him into my arms, I knew that I wasn't just rescuing him; he was rescuing me right back. We traveled from the bustling streets of Beirut to the serene embrace of Pleasantville, New York. Flonsky, my little hero, transformed from a survivor to a playful, & endlessly loving companion. We developed a language of our own through looks, touches, & the sweetest meows. He saved me as much as I saved him. I had lost another furry friend to cancer just a year before, while I battled an autoimmune disease & cared for my mother who was suffering from Dementia while being away from my husband Flonsky entered my life when his cat mama brought him to my doorstep after I showed her kindness. We were meant to be together. Flonsky, the playful soul that he is, found happiness in the simplest things. He'd stand on my Porsche, greeting neighbors with his charming meows. His presence was like a ray of sunshine that brightened everyone's day. He erased the troubles that plagued me, he is my joy Flonsky suddenly lost his appetite & began to vomit relentlessly. Ten agonizing days later, I discovered a thread hanging from his body. Multiple vet visits, endless bills led us to a diagnosis: a thread lodged in his intestines, causing irreparable damage. Surgery was our only hope, but the cost was staggering – up to $11,411.70 at the veterinary specialist. I was desperate, torn between my love for my boy,the weight of my own medical struggles & costs for caring for my mother. But I couldn't bear to let go of Flonsky. With the help of a Care Credit Card, I managed to scrape together an $8000 deposit – a sum I can't afford.

Jack is a 9-month-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Poughkeepsie, NY, who needs $2,000 for FIP Injections.

Poughkeepsie, NY

We took in Jack when he was surrendered and spent 1.5 months in the ICU. He currently lives with us and our 4 cats. He spends a lot of his time with his cerebellar hypoplasia brother, Yetti. We felt the name Jack suited him well. He also goes by Jack Jack and by Jack Attack because of his demeanor and now very playful manner. Jack likes to be in the house but also likes to spend some time in our backyard. He likes to lay by the pool and catch lots of sun. Since he loves his brother Yetti so much, he likes to take naps and go to sleep right next to him or to a bed near him. When it's medicine time, he knows where to go and to make sure we get his food ready for him. Jack Jack came to us when we were still grieving the loss of our 5 year old cat shadow. He is the spunky kitten we needed after such a tragic and unexpected loss. Jack was surrendered to veterinary hospital at 2 mo. He has been seen by the amazing Internal Medicine team when diagnosed with an atonic bladder. When hospitalized again, he was diagnosed with asthma. When hospitalized the last time, all diagnostics and imaging was done to come to the conclusion: he has FIP. He is now currently being managed by both Internal Medicine and Neurology. We wiped out our emergency funds with Jack very quickly. We love Jack so much, we just want him to be healthy and have the best life a kitten can have,

Max is a 6-year-old German Shepherd in Clinton Corners, NY, who needs $2,000 for Enucleation Surgery.

Clinton Corners, NY

Our Max needs an eye surgery to remove his eye that he lost due to Lyme disease. My daughter would love his friend to be healthy again. Max came into our lives as a 8 month old puppy. He was as rambunctious and wild as German shepherds come. He loves to be outside, play with the cat and protect chickens. If you were to stay with us for a day, you would see how important Max is in our lives: he is friend to a little girl, my protector, a companion to a black kitty Coco. He helps chase away the fox and barks at a hawk when they decided that our chickens is their dinner. And he is somebody to hug and talk to during Friday movie night. Max looks very much like a dog German shepherd that I had and lost to illness when I was a child. I was hoping this time will be different, that my pet would live a long healthy life. Max is only 6 years old. Our veterinarian said that we can put him to sleep. It just does not seem right to do that because of just an eye. Max always got his vaccines, yet he was still diagnosed with heartworm disease. His situation was complicated by additional Lyme diagnosis. Max's eye probably was the weak point: one day his eye was watery and two nights later he had glaucoma. I took him to emergency and to an eye specialist, gave him medicines, but his eye pressure kept building u, and within 2 weeks he lost his eye. Max needs surgery by a specialist to remove the eye that is a dangerous source of infection.I am in the process of divorce and I cannot afford the surgery. Once his eye is gone, we can address his hear worm infection that is not advanced and our Max can be healthy again.

Huntington, NY • Remember me Rescue NY

Oliver is an underdog, and he needs your help. An animal lover found him as a stray in Queens, New York, covered in urine, feces, and badly matted. They contacted Remember Me Rescue NY, who took Oliver in and immediately noticed something wasn't right. "His eyes would go in opposite directions," Michele D. from the group tells Waggle. "He has limited vision and bumps into things. He will often walk in circles." A neurologist determined Oliver has hydrocephalus -- fluid on his brain. He could have been born that way, or it could have been due to an injury. But the pressure causes the brain to die. Oliver's best chance at a bright future is to have a shunt inserted in his brain to relieve the pressure. It's a risky operation, but he's just a puppy and deserves a shot! Will you give to help Oliver get the surgery he urgently needs?

Mia came into our lives at just 6 weeks old. She was a gift for Valentine’s Day and it was the perfect day because we fell in love with her the moment we saw her. Mia got her name from her big brother Eli, and it just suited her the moment we heard him say it. Mia is loving, fun, and exciting girl who loves to play outside, loves the snow, and loves to eat anything on your plate. Mia loves attention and always wants to sleep in bed with mom, dad, and big brother. She always spins around when you walk in the door and goes straight for her toy box to grab one of her favorite toys to play catch or tug of war. Even though Mia loves to play, she loves to hog her toys too and looks up at you when you don’t try to grab them her. Mia’s favorite day is her birthday. Every year we get her doggie cupcakes and sing Happy Birthday to her. She spins around while we sing and jumps up and down for her treat. We love seeing her so happy on this day. Mia knows that her birthday is all about her and we celebrate with decorations, bday hats and treats galore. Mia is a winter baby so hopefully there is snow outside to play afterwards. Mia was diagnosed with lymphoma. She has cancer everywhere and the vet says it is treatable. She will be needing chemo therapy once a month via injection for at least 5-6 treatments along with 3-4 medications to take on a daily basis. The treatments are to reduce the lymphnodes and get Mia in remission. Veterinarian: Guardian veterinary specialists This diagnosis was an unexpected event and we never would have thought our 6 yr old would need this. We are on a salary based income and usually pay our bills with very little left over. Whatever we have will go towards treatment but we know we will still be short.

Hopewell junction, NY

My pet came into my life 7 years ago when I was in high school. He didn't come from a specific rescue, but I did rescue him. He was found living in a shoebox that had poke holes in it so he could breathe. Once I saw his special eyes (one green, one blue) I knew I had to have him. My cat lives with me and my family and our 1 other cat and 2 dogs. My pet sleeps where ever he can get himself comfy and be given lots of cuddles. He loves treats more than any other cat I have met, to the point where he puts his entire determination into opening the box of treats himself. One of his favorite things to do, besides getting all the ear scratches he can from me and napping, is playing on his large cat tree. What makes me and my cat's bond so special is I got him when I was a teenager. I have had other pets before and after him, but I was his mom to him because I rescued him and brought him home, and gave him the best care I could as a scared little kitten. When I would find myself feeling sad or alone as a teenager in high school, I knew at the end of the day I always had my furbaby, Slim. He is the most loving boy with the sweetest eyes. We are unsure of what exactly happened to slim but three days ago we found him unable to use his back right leg. Slim is in immense pain right now and he needs a surgical procedure to repair the damage to his leg which includes a broken fibula, bone fragments out of place. He has been seen at Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster, NY. This situation is of course unexpected and financially straining, as I am currently a college student. Amputation for my cat is the cheapest route, but to do what is best for him and his health is to do the surgery.

Angel loves her toys, and to go out on the deck to get fresh air and watc the birds, and squirrels. She loves her scratch pads, and all of her toys. She seems to like water more than the average cat as well splashing in the water bowl. She is very special because good times or bad she is always happy and purring. Such a joy to be around comments per friends, neighbors, family, and the vets too Angel has been diagnosed with pancreatitis, and now on insulin, and had to be rushed to the emergency vet to be monitored checked via an ultrasound to get things under control. What amazes me is all that she has been through she is constantly purring all the time? I truly feel her name suits her to a T. Angel had to be rushed to the hospital due to her Pancreatitis and diabetes. I rescued her back in 2009. She is amazing cat, and her name suits her. She is loved by everyone including her vets. He loves anyone and everything he meets. He tends to get himself ooh trouble for his love of food and I must always keep a close eye on him Ace is the biggest lover you’ll ever know. He is the most friendly, loving dog I’ve ever known/had. He is quite mischievous, but there is not a mean bone in his body. He and my other lab are best friends. He feds along great with other dogs and people. He does like to jump on people but that’s his way of saying hello. He’s always so excited. He loves to go out for walks, to swim, fetch, etc. Everything about Ace makes me smile. He is the smartest, most trouble making dog I’ve ever had. He opens all doors, my microwave, and will put absolutely anything into his mouth. He have the cutest head tilt to any little noise and follows me around the house every step I take and always seems to know my next move. He is the ultimate cuddled and loves to be as close as possible and sleep with me. Ace has had a mass on his chest and bladder both believed to be cancerous after several tests. After seeing an oncologist and doing a CT for over $5,000, it is now believed they may be benign or, the oncologist said, something could be brewing. He suggests repeat CT on 12/16 for another $5,000 to see if there is or isn’t anything dangerous inside him. The vet is Guardian in Brewster, NY. I am a single woman who lives paycheck to paycheck and does not have any emergency funds, unfortunately. At this point I am already approximately $8500 into this and have exhausted all funds I have. Our pride and joy, we named Maybach. My partner and I rescued Maybach when he was only 3 months old. At the time, he was in living in poor conditions where he ate nothing but adult hard kibble and was covered with fleas and worms. Due to personal circumstances, I will not add any information regarding his previous caretaker. The moment I seen this poor beautiful animal, I knew we saved him. When we tell you our Maybach is spoiled, we mean ROTTEN! He is our sunshine of our days. Maybach craves and thrives off attention, he will always tell you what he wants and when he wants it. He can get along great with other dogs, but he will let them know who is the star in the room! Maybach loves to endlessly play with his toys, he will never get tired. He adores being around kids, he is a pupper! With life, comes obstacles. Through those times and ongoing, Maybach has always been the highlight in our days. From worst days to best. He will always come to comfort us whenever we’re sad, he’ll hug us and helps lick our tears away. You can say he’s an ESA and even he likes to think so too. From his wolf mimic howl, to his high energy antics, he always keep you on your toes. This past August, our sweet boy was likely diagnosed with idiopathic encephalitis. Due to his auto immune disease, there is no underlying cause behind this disease. Unfortunately, there isn’t any cure for his particular condition, only reduce the severity of the symptoms and stop the condition from worsening. He was seen at Guardian Veterinary Hospital in Brewster, NY where he was treated. With everything going on in the world, today, it can be challenging staying up to date with bills and expenses. I’m very humbled to share my baby’s story with all of you. Maybachs means the world to us and he deserves to live a beautiful life as a dog. Thank you.

She came with heart worm infections missing teeth, she was a mess. And yet always happy and brought joy wherever she went. I had 3 mammary gland tumors removed when I had her spayed. The vet actually wants between $4000 and $5000 to remove these tumors. Abby needs you. I have 2 Doxies right now. We are now in a fire financial situation. My girls mean the world to me, they keep me going. And it's not fair Abby is suffering because of money. She gave the first part of her life to being a puppy maker. She doesn't deserve this. I didn't know our finances would be depleted. We had to put a roof on our house after years of raining inside we were finally able. I am on disability and my husband got hurt at work. He was not able to return unless he was %100 which he is not. As I mentioned the money we had went into a much needed roof on our house. I would like both of my girls to be as happy as they make me. I need to have these tumors removed. They keep ulcerating which could lead to infection. She can barley walk. Without these tumors she could go back to being the silly girl that makes everyone happy. Her vet is Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster NY. It cost me $1000 to find out Abby is benign. And they want thousands more to remove them. Abby deserves this. I lost my 18 yr old Jessica almost 2 years ago. And I had debilitating complex grief. My girls were always there for me. They held me together. I owe them whatever they want or need. They are blessings that bring joy to our home. Abigail was used and neglected the first part of her life. She deserves to enjoy herself now. It's completely heartbreaking.

She touches everyone she meets and is an inspiration to us all! Dot went for an expensive MRI, which came back as unremarkable, meaning that further diagnosis is needed. As we haven’t determined the cause, we are still hopeful that it’s something that is responsive to medical intervention. Dot might have to see a specialist. Sometimes she drags herself on the floor to continue to play and wag her tail. Dot has been undergoing medical diagnostic tests at PAWS for regular episodes of ataxia in her rear legs. Ataxia is a lack of coordination, affecting her front and hind legs to collapse from time to time. This may be caused from damage to the cerebellum or to the nervous system.

Dexter

Dexter is a 9-year-old Ragdoll in South Kent, CT, who needs $1,200 for Urethral Obstruction.

south kent, CT

Dexter was 8 weeks old when I took him home. I just moved to Tennessee and figured we both could adventure this new strange place together. He came with me anywhere I went. I think he thinks he's a dog. He's been by my side for every road trip, the marriage of my husband, having 3 kids and even adding a dog to the family. Dexter is known as a "Sour Patch Kid" one minute he's hiding behind something just pounce out and scare the crap out of you and the next he's cuddling up next to you. He loves to nap on anything soft. He will get into the linin closet just to sleep on a blanket. Our kids love him, even when he plays rough. He plays with our dog Vader as if he was a dog too. Currently I homeschool our kids because of Covid so my husband is the only one working. With this sudden expense we used our savings to pay what we could but its just not enough to cover the full treatment. I cant lose him. Losing him would be like losing a child. Thursday night I found Dexter just laying in our kids playroom and just by looking at him I knew something was wrong. He didnt want to eat and he NEVER refuses food. He was meowing in a meow that I've never heard. Rushed him to Guardian Vet Hospital in Brewster NY to find out he had a Urethral Blockage (couldn't pee) He died on the table but they revived him. He's stable but still critical. Dexter is not a typical cat. He plays fetch. If I cant find him all I have to do is whistle and he comes. Him and the dog tag team to catch birds or squirrels together. If you go for a walk he goes for a walk and doesn't leave your side. He loves car rides. He'll even hop in the bath or shower with you. And he refuses to use a litter box. He just goes in the shower if no one lets him outside. HAHA

Ben

Ben is a 1-year-old White Cat, Orange Hat in Ashland, MA, who needs $2,000 for Pelvic Surgery and Catheter Care.

ashland, MA

In August 2020, on the small Caribbean island of St Thomas, I found an adorable 4-week-old kitten dumped on the side of the road. My husband and I loved him immediately, and began to raise our little island boy. For the last 9 months he grew up playing with the neighborhood cats in banana fields, chasing geckos, and climbing jungle trees. Ben wanted to be an outdoor cat from the very beginning - climbing screens, refusing his litterbox, and escaping anytime the door opened. Once he was old enough, he got his very own cat door to come and go as he pleased. He found his ideal litterbox to be his dad's garden. My husband once 'harvested' a big piece of ginger, only to find out it was cat poop!!! Ben has come so far in such a short time! In the last 3 weeks he has had surgeries, helping him regained function of his back legs, tail, and cat-butt. His bill is over 21K, and we need all the help we can get! In April 2021, Ben was hit by a car and paralyzed. He crawled his way back to our bedroom window & called out for help. We rushed him to the vet, who after X-rays and observation, realized their best option was euthanasia. We felt Ben had more life to live, so our vet helped us find a specialist in NY that would take him. We jumped on a plane and brought him to Guardian under the care of Dr. Runge Ben has had a BIG appetite since the day we met him, eating with such vigor that we questioned how he could breathe. His hunger has not subsided with age, inspiring a cat themed remix to "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen. My boy has also decided he was grown enough for his own apartment, moving into an old car in the driveway. This ensured he was always waiting for us when we pulled in after work!

Buddy is a 13-year-old Mix in Walden, NY, who needs $2,000 for Post Op Cardiac Arrest.

walden, NY

I adopted Buddy when he was a few weeks old. He was sick with pneumonia at the time and was the only to survive. I nursed him back to health. He has been my rock and my child for the past 13 years. I have been his best friend and he has been mine. He has a brother that is a cat named Mao Mao whom they are like best friends as well. He is always right next to me and never leaves my side. Buddy always would look at me with his little eyebrows and as if talking to me would tell me what he needed. If he needed to go for a walk or was hungry or wants to play I could always tell. He would never leave my side whether I was just walking around the house or going to the bathroom. He is my other half. He always loved having my family over and never wanted anyone to leave. I have exhausted all my resources and savings and maxed out all my cards between the surgery and the ER visit. He is finally somewhere that can help him and it would mean everything to me if he came home. He is my child i cant lose him. He has kept me going for the last 13y Buddy went in for surgery on 4/15/21 to have a mass removed from his side. While they were closing him up he redlined and they used epinephrine twice to bring him back. When he came to he was in a comatose like state. He could barely lift his head. He has made it through 3 nights so far and is continuing to fight. He is being treated at Guardian Veterinary Specialist in Brewster NY Buddy is special in every way. If he could just get the words out he could talk. He is so smart. He always tilts his head and perks his ears when you talk to him as if he actually understands what your saying to him. He always nudged me as if to say "hey daddy I need some attention". He is the most intelligent dog i have ever met. He knows so many words gestures and phrases its unbelievable.

Brewster, NY

I wanted a companion for my husband who is diagnosed with Alzheimers in order to keep him active and bring some joy to our lives. We wanted to adopt a dog. We were fortunate to have had an opportunity to rescue Charlie. Charlie was from China where he was stolen from his family and put in a slaughterhouse. He is only 3 years old and has had a rough start to his life. Charlie has become the love of our lives. We never had a dog so affectionate before. My husband does everything with him. He loves taking him on walks, playing ball and just having someone to snuggle with. He is a sweetheart with my grandchildren and everyone that meets him falls in love. Charlie loves to sleep in and snuggle with us whenever he can. Due to my husbands diagnosis, he is currently unable to work. We already are struggling to make ends meets as it is each month. We can't imagine life without Charlie. We are distraught over this accident and know surgery will be the best option for him. Unbenowst to us, these types of dogs that have short legs and long bodies can \be more susceptible to disc disease. Charlie always jumped on and off our couch(which is very low) with no problem at all. He fell off the couch causing a spinal cord injury paralyzing his back legs. The prognosis isn't good without surgery. The facility he is at is Guardian Veterinary Specialists. Brewster, NY. Charlie is special because he is very protective of us and the most affectionate dog we have ever had. He has given my husband and I so much joy as we deal with his diagnosis of alzheimers. My husband and I recently had major surgeries and he was always right by our side and always made sure we were ok.

New Milford, CT

On 3/17/14 Mr. Jesse James was rescued from being euthanized. Shortly after that day our journey began. I had a hysterectomy this August and beat cancer using all my savings. In November my world crashed down when I was told Jesse was diagnosed with Lymphoma. It is his turn now and with one treatment given he is in clinical remission and will require a few more to make sure it stays that way. No matter who meets him they fall in love with him. He just wants to be loved, touched and snuggled. He sleeps with me and his older sister every night. I know he's my dog but my whole family loves him. He is family, like my child (I cant have children). MY grandmother was battling cancer I was able to take him into the nursing home where he was able to visit. He is such an important family member I have gotten divorced, lost my 2nd job due to covid, I was fourloughed due to covid and had to take 6 weeks off due to surgery. This has put me in to a fincial bind. Any and all of my savings has been depleted. To have him healthy is more then any money could ever give. When our regular vet diagnosed him with Lymphoma she had directed us to Gaurdian Vet. We had a consultation and was advised that he was at a stage 4. We were given options, and the vet advised us that his quality of life may improve. I was very ill. After one treatment he is in clinical remission and will need a few more to make sure it stays that way. His quality of life has really improved. Jesse is a bil ol goof ball!!! He has given life to my older pup. He encourages her to play or will alert us the outside. He is always wanting to be in my lap. He is 75 lbs and doesn't know it at all. He will try to "talk" when he wants your attention and will fight to get it as well. It is always an adventure with him around. I can take him anywhere and he isnwell behaved. A gentleman!!!!

Sur

Sur is a 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog in Yonkers, NY, who needs $2,000 for an MRI.

Yonkers, NY

During my time as a naval seabee, I got Sur, an Australian cattle dog, from a farm in Santa Clarita, CA in 2015. The name "Sur" was derived from the beautiful coastal Big Sur that lines California's Central Coast. Sur was originally registered as an emotional support animal to help with my depression. Once I finished my service in the Navy, we moved to New York so that I could pursue a degree. Sur is a very active, intelligent dog who enjoys running and playing ball. He is full of personality and always finds a way to entertain himself when he's bored. For instance, he would drop the ball down the stairs only to chase after it and then do it over again. He also loves to include the entire family in his games by giving the ball to everyone to play and will not take "no" for answer. As a veteran who just finished serving in the Navy, I am now back in college as a full time undergrad. I currently do not have the funds to pay for all the veterinary care/treatment that Sur needs to get back on his feet. Please donate to help Sur on his road to recovery. On 9/12/2020, Sur was running in the backyard when he suddenly fell and yelped in pain while losing the ability to walk on his hind legs. There were no signs of any accident/trauma when this occurred so it was difficult to understand how this could happen to a perfectly healthy dog. Soon after, he was incontinent and diagnosed with a high velocity, low volume disk extrusion on his T12-T13. Sur is more than just pet to me; he is my best friend who I traveled across the country with as we ventured on hikes and runs together. More importantly, he is family who never fails to show his unconditional love and always make me smile. He is protective of me just as I am of him. This is why I would do anything in my power to help him get back on his feet and be there when he needs me most.

Jingle Bell Rock is a 3-year-old Toy Poodle in Old Greenwich, CT, who needs $2,000 for Ruptured Disc Surgery.

Old Greenwich, CT

Jingle Bell Rock (JBR) is my heart and soul. My daughter and I bought him at 10 weeks old from a dairy farmer whose poodles had a litter of puppies. My daughter has significant special needs and health issues. She also has difficulty making friends. Her doctor recommended a puppy could help relieve some of the stress and anxiety she feels on a daily basis. JBR lets my daughter dress him up too. JBR is the most gentle being. He’s quite timid, but extremely protective over my daughter and I. He technically is our “man of the house”. He makes my daughter smile when she’s having a tough or anxious time in school or at home. JBR seems to take her attention away from those stresses. He often accompanies us to the cemetery to see “grandma” which makes the trip less sad and daunting. In March, the caterer I worked for didn’t have any work for me. In August, the business closed. I receive $13 per week in unemployment (what they determined I should receive). My savings are gone. I’m seeking work and behind in all bills and need to pay to get Jingle home. Last week, Jingle let out a horrific yelp followed by lameness in his back legs. He was unable to walk, could barely stand and couldn’t go to the bathroom. His disc ruptured in his spine at only 3 year’s of age. Dr. Berg at Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster, NY agreed to do the emergency surgery. Jingle is recovering and doing well from what I hear. I’ve sold some belongings to help pay. When my mom was dying of cancer and I didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning, Jingle would lick me in the face and insist on going for a walk which ALWAYS made me feel better. When I felt criticized, Jingle would come running as if to say “you’re the best, mom”. We took him to the nursing home and hospice my mom was in. He just lit up the faces with smiles of everyone suffering there.

This young barely 2 month old kitten was found outside of my apartment building. It allowed me to pick it up and take it inside to care for it. It has been in my care of over a month. Been well fed with the best all natural food money can buy as well as cooked meals. It is a blueish gray male kitten. He is the sweetest kitten ever. Wants nothing but to be loved. He wants to be loved by everyone and everything he comes in contact with. Will play and just sit on your lap. Looks to be close to anyone that is around. Doesn't like to eat alone. Incredibly sociable kitten for being nearly 2 months old. I had just buried my father a few months ago and still recovering from that. I have been denied loans and credits. This kitten has helped get me out of my depression. My heart and my mental health cannot handle another loss. This kitten was so active, and lively, and playful, and vocal. Then all of the sudden he had no life to him. Did not want to play at all and just wanted to sleep. Within a few days he lost an immense amount of weight, became hypothermic and hypoglycemic, and lost nearly half his red blood cell count. He is aborable. As soon as he is done gorging himself in a meal, he wants to play fight. He likes to be sneaky about it. Pretends to be innocent and then attacks you when you least expect it. As he was learning to run, instead of running he would hop. He has an adorable hiss when he is eating if he thinks you are going near his food.

I have had her for 12 years. She is so loving and compassionate but also strong, fierce and independent. Very protective She will attack my other cat if he scratches or hisses at my son or I. She sleeps by my sons feet every night. My son has special needs and she is great emotional support. She hated being held but she allows him to hold her for short periods. She is a bottomless pit when it comes to food. Due to Covid-19 I lost my job my special needs son is virtual schooling which I need to be present for. I am a single mom with no help. I am behind on rent. And my car is having issues. I have had lots of trama in my life. All I had to look forward to was my cats and son. Tay Tay is having trouble walking and falls over, eating, drinking, using the bathroom. She was diagnosed with vestibular disease. The type that effect the brainstem, the cause needs to be diagnosed in order to treat her. She need a MRI at Guardians Veterinary Specialists. She can be completely immobile at time. I can see the terror in her eyes. For a can that literally bounces off the walls its horrifying She stops at nothing to get what she wants. She acts more like a dog then a cat. We call her Ninja kitty because she can defy the law of physics. She is so talkative we talk to her and she answers back. She will steal food at any cost. She does this trick, jumps up into your hand while standing grabs it and cuddles it. She is constantly trying to escape to outside. Wakes me up by head butting me!

I wake up with lots of hugs and kisses and rubs on my belly. But when mom is crying I know there’s something wrong. I love when my mom is in the kitchen cooking because that’s one of my favorite places (food). She sings and I jump around like I’m dancing and she dances with me. I love to see my mom laughing and smiling when I do silly things. My grandma and grandpa FaceTime me all the time to check up on me, but I don’t know what going on and all I hear is my name so I bark back. I can’t tell she love me too! I wish I can help Liea but I’m a single mom and I’m not financially stable. I take my hardest to maintain Leia but I don’t make effort so I’m literary begging you to please help my baby girl A month ago my mom found me in the hallway making panting sounds She took me to vet, did tests, and I was diagnose with Cushing disease, gall stone blockage that ruptured. I need surgery for stones that need to be removed. My mom can’t afford the surgeries, it’s $8000, but my mom loves me so much I see her cry everyday I just want to stay a little longer to make her happy cause I love her. My favorite toy is a little ducky that my mom got me the first day she brought me home. I bring to my bed every night and I make my mom smile I’m so silly. I even love kids, everytime they come to visit I get so excited I run around and play with them all day. Oh my mom tells me everyday "Leía look at me with your big beautiful eyes, I love you!"

PJ is a 9-year-old Domestic shorthair in Pleasant Valley, NY, who needs $2,000 for biopsy and imaging for abnormal tissue growth or neoplasia.

Pleasant Valley, NY

PJ came to me as a kitten who was dropped off in our driveway He was found under a car and covered in fleas. We took him in and cleaned him up. My oldest cat became protective of him (His name is Punkin), because of their similarities we named our new kitten PJ (Punkin Jr.) He spent most of his time outside playing with the feral cats that also live here. PJ is now 9 years old and loves to sleep on my bed or climb his steps to look out at the birds and the ducks that live in the creek behind us. Sometimes when he wakes up he'll let out a little meow as if he were calling me. He likes to know that I'm nearby. He spends time outside with me on my fenced in the deck or walking along the creek. He has a wonderful personality. I am on a fixed income and have already spent everything that I had in savings for the numerous vets so far. I feel so helpless in not being able to help him. I don't know what I would do if I lost him. I just want him to be the happy bird watching kitty that he used to be. PJ has recently developed breathing issues in his left nostril, he was given multiple steroid shots and antibiotics, then his nose started bleeding. We then took him to Dr. Palma at Guardian Veterinary specialists. It might be cancer and cannot be sure without a diagnostic test and a biopsy. The test is bad enough but it's the treatment that is so expensive. PJ doesn't really care for other cats anymore. I think it's a jealousy thing, but that's okay with me. When he was a year old my neighbor found him outside by her house, he couldn't walk. I never did find out what happened to him but in the end, he had to have his back leg amputated. He wasn't hit by a car, but the vet said his leg shattered like a glass tube. Since then we have been very close.

Lilly is a 4-year-old Devon Rex in Clifton, NJ who needs $4,613 for oral cancer treatment, for electrochemotherapy and medications.

Clifton, NJ

Lily is a Devon Rex. I got her when she was a kitten as a companion to our other cat Coco. I work 9-5 so i didn't want to leave Coco home alone wtihout a companion for 8 hours a day so we got Lily to be her friend. Devons have very unique personalities. They usually pick one human to be theirs and once they do, they will never leave your side. Luckily, she chose me to be her mom. Every day, when I get home from work, she greets me at the door with her meowing hello, and immediately runs to her toys ready to play. She sits in front of her wand and just looks up at me and paws at it as if saying, here it is! Lets play! And she LOVES that wand. I swing that wand with a toy mouse that dangles from the end of a string as she stalks it while she pounces in and out of her cat tunnel. When i am at home, i normally throw on a robe over whatever i'm wearing. And Lily can't wait to get in it! LOL. Whenever i sit down on the couch or at my computer desk, climbs in to nestle down. When I am home, you will almost always see her in my robe. Getting as close as she can possibly get. Same thing at bedtme! Once she hears we are going to sleep, shes right in ther with me. She has a nightly ritual of crawling under the covers, onto my belly, with nose down, just wanting to take in my scent, while kneeding away with her paws and that loud devon purrrrr. I usually have to move her over but she won't be far! She is a heat seeker and needs to have her body touch mine throughout the night. Devons run hot. Well maybe not, but since they only have an undercoat and you can feel their heat off their body more than other cats. In the winter it's like having a little heater in bed with you. She is super goofy. Many Devons are. They also LOVE heights. We converted a ikea bookcase into 1/2 bookcase and 1/2 playground for her. I cut round holes throughout and lined it with cat scratcher pads so she climb through it and up to the top where i added a hammock. If shes not in my robe, you can bet shes up there looking over watching me from her vantage point. She really is such a silly, goofy, lovebug and I can't imaging life without her.

Lola Jackob

Lola Jackob is a 7-year-old Cane Corso/American Bulldog in Hopewell Junction, NY, who needs $4,372 for acute kidney failure.

Hopewell Junction, NY

Lola is our 7 year old sweet and goofy big girl. She was brought home as an early valentine's day gift and she was the next best addition to our family. We already had a puppy and they were soon sisters and our cuddle bug. When we brought home our son she was the best nanny. She would sleep by his side and was the first one there when he would cry. Now they chase each other and torment each other just like brother and sister. We always joke that lola has the perfect eye makeup and the deepest puppy dog eyes. I tried to keep her out of bed but when she whimpers and looks at you with those eyes you just cant say no! She crawls under the covers and will sleep there until we are ready to get up for the day. We love our Lola kisses and Lola snuggles!

Leia

Leia is an 8-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix in Napanoch, NY, who needs $4,000 for surgery to remove a spinal cord cyst.

napanoch, NY

I adopted Leia from craigslist when she was only a couple weeks old. I chose her name from Starwars, Princess Leia, because she is a little princess. I saved her from horrible people who didn't take care of her. I have two other dogs and a cat who are all best friends. They sleep together, play tug of war, they are all little black dogs who love each other very much. The few days Leia had to be hospitalized my other two dogs wouldn't even get out of bed because they missed her so much. She is a couch potato who loves to be held. We take family walks together and Leia has her own backpack that she gets carried in because she would rather sunbathe then have to do some exercise.

Zoey is a 3-year-old Calico cat in Poughkeepsie, NY, who needs $2,000 for blood transfusion.

Poughkeepsie, NY

My brother knew I was looking to adopt a 3rd cat. An acquaintance of his were Zoey’s original owners who were in the process of moving and we’re planning to leave her behind. He found her alone in the empty apartment so he brought her home to me and just dropped her in my lap. So of course, we gave her a new home instead of allowing her to be abandoned. She has been a fun addition to our family of 7. She makes us laugh with all of her shenanigans and somehow she adopted the nickname ‘Baby Girl, Bozo’. We all love her very much and enjoy every moment we have with her.

Loving dog who’s been around for all of the children in our life. He is family and losing him will devastate us. My son especially loves Little Boy and asks for him when we are out of the house. They play together, they do everything together. They are the best of friends and my 1 and a half year olds first “friend”. He will be lost without his “boy boy”
