Kira
Tiny Kira Is Learning to Walk Again—Help Her Heal
Houston, TX • ThisIsHouston
At just six weeks old, Kira should be spending her days playing, exploring, and discovering the world around her. Instead, this sweet puppy was found alone as a stray, dragging her injured back leg behind her. When Kira came into ThisisHouston's care, she was taken straight to the veterinarian for evaluation. X-rays revealed that she had suffered fractures to the left side of her pelvis, specifically involving her ischium and pubis. The injuries are older, meaning this tiny puppy had been living with pain and trying to survive on her own for far too long. Despite everything she has endured, Kira remains incredibly sweet and resilient. The good news is that puppies are remarkable healers. Because Kira is so young, her little body has already started repairing itself. Her veterinary team believes she has an excellent chance of making a strong recovery with time, strict kennel rest, and gentle at-home physical therapy exercises. For now, Kira is resting comfortably and receiving the care she needs at Neighborhood Veterinary Centers - Nederland while her rescue team works to give her the best possible chance at a healthy future. Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide medical care, pain management, follow-up evaluations, and the resources needed to help Kira heal. After surviving life on the streets with a painful injury, Kira finally has people fighting for her. Please donate today and help this brave little puppy take her first steps toward a brighter future. 6/24/26 Update Kira has officially settled into a loving foster home, and her foster mom can't stop talking about what an incredible puppy she is. In her words, Kira is "absolutely stunning" and has the sweetest disposition imaginable. While Kira is doing well, she is still on strict kennel rest as her pelvic fractures continue to heal. As you can imagine, this energetic little puppy would much rather be running, playing, and exploring the world around her. It's been difficult for both Kira and her foster family to limit her activity, but everyone knows that giving her body the time it needs to heal now will help ensure the best possible outcome for her future. The good news is that Kira has been handling her recovery like an absolute champion. Despite everything she has been through, she remains happy, loving, and full of puppy charm. Her foster family says she has been the BEST puppy and continues to win hearts everywhere she goes. We are so grateful for the support that has helped Kira receive the care she needs. As her recovery continues, there will still be veterinary expenses associated with follow-up care, monitoring her healing progress, and ensuring she stays comfortable throughout the process. If you'd like to help Kira on her journey to a full recovery, please consider making a donation today. Every contribution helps provide the medical care, follow-up appointments, and support this resilient little girl needs as she heals and prepares for a bright future filled with love, playtime, and all the puppy adventures she deserves. 7/1/26 Update Kira's brace has arrived! It will help support the knuckling in her injured leg as she continues healing and learning to use it properly. We're also thrilled to report that Kira has been doing surprisingly well with her strict kennel rest. For an energetic puppy, that's no small feat! While she'd much rather be running and playing, she's taking recovery like the little champion she is. Right now, the prescription is simple: time, rest, and lots of love. Her tiny body continues to do the incredible work of healing itself, and we're optimistic that every day brings her one step closer to a full recovery. Thank you to everyone who has supported Kira so far. Your generosity has given this sweet puppy the medical care, safety, and comfort she desperately needed after such a difficult start in life. As Kira continues her healing journey, your support is still making a difference. Every donation helps provide her follow-up veterinary care, rehabilitation, and everything she needs to grow into the happy, healthy dog she's meant to be. 7/7/26 Update Kira continues to amaze us every single day! This resilient little girl is still on strict kennel rest while her pelvic fractures continue to heal, and we're happy to report that she's doing wonderfully. While asking a growing puppy to stay quiet is no easy task, Kira has been handling it like a champ (most of the time... she \_is\_ still a puppy, after all!). Her foster family says she's feeling great and keeping everyone on their toes with her adorable personality. Even though she'd much rather be zooming around and playing, she's been incredibly patient as her body does the important work of healing. Recovery from an injury like Kira's takes time, but every day of rest is another step toward the active, happy life she deserves. She'll continue to need follow-up veterinary care to monitor her progress and make sure she's healing exactly as she should. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared her story, and cheered Kira on throughout her recovery. Because of your generosity, this sweet puppy has gone from surviving on the streets with painful injuries to being safe, loved, and receiving the medical care she needs. If you'd like to continue supporting Kira's journey, please consider making a donation today. Every contribution helps provide her follow-up appointments, rehabilitation, and everything she needs as she grows into the healthy, playful dog we know she's meant to be. 8/8/26 Update We have wonderful news to share—Kira is officially off kennel rest! 🎉 When this sweet German Shepherd mix was found as a tiny six-week-old stray with an injured back leg, her first weeks in rescue looked very different from those of most puppies. Instead of running and playing, Kira spent her days on strict kennel rest with a special brace to support her injured leg while her body healed. But now, she is making up for lost time! Kira is running, playing, exploring the yard, and finally getting to do all the things a puppy should. Kira will likely always have some “knuckling” in her back leg, but her brace provides the support she needs, and she has adapted beautifully. It certainly doesn't slow this girl down! Now about three months old, Kira is showing everyone just how bright and curious she is. She loves toys, investigating everything around her, and being part of whatever her people are doing. She's even making great progress with potty training and already understands how to use potty pads! After such a difficult beginning, Kira is finally getting the puppyhood she deserves. 💜 Thank you to everyone who donated, shared her story, and helped make Kira's recovery possible. Because of your generosity, this little shelter puppy went from struggling with a painful injury to running, playing, and looking forward to her future. Now Kira is ready for the next chapter—a lifetime of adventures, love, and a family of her own. 🐾 Her story started with survival. Thanks to you, it gets to continue with hope, happiness, and a whole lot of puppy zoomies!

Senior Dog Wilbur Needs To Feel Safe Again

Edna
Edna Deserves to Live Her Senior Years Comfortably
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Meet Edna. 💔 This tiny 4-pound Yorkie was found alone on the streets, neglected and exhausted. Now safe with CAMO Rescue, we are learning just how much this little senior girl has endured. Edna is severely emaciated, likely over 12 years old, suffering from painful grade 4 dental disease that will require multiple extractions, and has several mammary masses that need medical attention. She also has cataracts, making her world even more uncertain and frightening. Edna is gentle, quiet, and finally resting somewhere safe, even though the world has failed her so badly thus far. Senior dogs like Edna are so often overlooked, discarded when they need love and care the most. But we believe her life still matters. She deserves comfort, pain relief, full meals, soft blankets, and the dignity of being cherished for however much time she has left. Please help us give Edna the medical care she desperately needs. Every donation, share, and kind word helps this fragile little girl finally experience safety and love. ❤️

Carlitos
Help Relieve Carlitos' Pain
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Carlitos was recently surrendered to CAMO, and he’s already been to the vet. This little guy is so uncomfortable and has clearly been neglected for many years. His owner is battling cancer and could no longer care for him, so we knew someone needed to step in. Carlitos has tumors filling his ears, and both ear canals are completely sealed. He will likely need double TECA surgeries, which are estimated at about $3,000 per ear. We can't quite tell how long Carlitos has been living like this, but it's been far too long and he needs relief now. He also has KCS (dry eye), meaning his eyes produce no tears at all. He will need lifelong medication to keep him comfortable. Carlitos is safe now, and we want to give him the care he’s gone without for far too long. But his medical needs will be extensive, and we urgently need help covering his treatment costs. Once we can fully vet all of his conditions, we can get him into his forever home where he will experience love and learn to trust. Please consider donating, sharing, or supporting Carlitos as he begins his second chance.

Grace Emerson
Grace Emerson’s Condition was Preventable: Help Us Help Her
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Grace Emerson was close to losing her life. This tiny poodle mix was surrendered to a shelter to be euthanized because she was “sick.” But what was really happening was worse than they could have imagined. Grace had never been spayed and was suffering from pyometra, a severe, life-threatening infection of the uterus. Left untreated, pyometra can turn fatal in just days. In Grace’s case, the infection had progressed so far that her uterus was dangerously enlarged—one of the worst her vet had seen in a dog her size. Because of CAMO Rescue, Grace got that chance. She was rushed to the ER for emergency surgery just in time. Today, she’s home. She’s snuggled up and finally cared for. But her fight isn’t over. Grace still needs ongoing medical care, monitoring, and support as she heals from both surgery and the neglect she endured. Pyometra is preventable. Spaying saves lives. Please consider donating to CAMO Rescue so they can continue stepping in for dogs like Grace—dogs who are failed by the people meant to protect them.

Mayo
Mayo is a 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier in Magnolia, TX, who needs $3,500 for Si luxation surgery.
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
One of the hardest realities in rescue is knowing a dog is in pain. Mayo, a 3-year-old Yorkie, didn’t deserve what happened to him. A piece of exercise equipment fell on him, leaving him with a broken pelvis and a painful SI luxation. Currently, he’s at the vet receiving pain management, waiting for the moment he can finally get the surgery he desperately needs. CAMO Rescue stepped in because walking away wasn’t an option. Even with so many ongoing medical cases, they couldn’t ignore Mayo’s suffering. He deserves relief and a chance to heal. Doctor is ready to perform the surgery that can change Mayo’s life, but the cost is $3,700. For a rescue already stretched thin, that’s a heavy burden. We’re asking for your help. Your donation can bring Mayo closer to a pain-free life. And if you’re unable to give, sharing his story can make all the difference. Together, we can make sure Mayo gets the care he needs and the future he deserves.

Cornflake
Sickly & Struggling, But Still Fighting HARD—Baby Cornflake Needs a Village
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Meet Cornflake. This tiny puppy was found running alongside another pup, Bessie Bell, both alone and depending on someone to stop and care. Thanks to CAMO Rescue, they are now safe. But Cornflake is facing a heartbreaking battle. He has tested positive for parvovirus. Parvo is one of the most aggressive and deadly viruses a puppy can face. It attacks their immune system and digestive tract, causing severe dehydration, weakness, and, without intensive treatment, it can be fatal. Puppies like Cornflake need round-the-clock care, fluids, medications, and constant monitoring just to have a chance. Right now, he is fighting. CAMO Rescue is doing everything possible to give him that chance but parvo treatment is intensive and costly. If you can help, your donation will go directly toward Cornflake’s lifesaving care including his hospitalization, medications, and the support he needs to keep going. He didn’t deserve to be abandoned. He deserves a chance to survive. Please consider donating or sharing to help Cornflake fight. 💛 6/20/26 Update Thanks to everyone who supported sweet Cornflake on her healing journey. We are so grateful that she has made a full recovery and has now been adopted into her forever home. Thank you!

Scrump
Poor Scrump Urgently Needs Relief
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Scrump is only 6 years old, but the condition he’s in tells a much harder story. Adopted from a shelter near Austin just a year ago, he should have known comfort, healing, and care. Instead, he’s arrived in nearly the same state, if not worse. Scrump has endured so much: both of his eyes had to be removed, likely due to untreated infections. His ears are still severely infected and painful, his skin is inflamed and damaged, and even his nails had grown into his paw pads, causing infection. He’s now on antibiotics and receiving medicated baths, finally getting some relief. But his journey is far from over. Scrump needs specialized care, including a veterinary dermatologist, to truly begin healing. Despite everything, he’s here. And that all that matters. Camo Dog Rescue stepped in because Scrump deserves more than survival—he deserves comfort and a chance to feel good again. His recovery will take time, patience, and resources. If you’re able to help, your donation will go directly toward his medical care and ongoing treatment. Even small support can help change the course of Scrump’s life.

Leia
Leia is a 5 year old Poodle in Murphy, TX, who needs $2,000 for X rays and broken bone repair.
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Every now and then, a story comes along that stops us in our tracks. Leia is one of those stories. Leia recently came into the care of CAMO Rescue, and while she’s only about five years old, the life she’s endured is something no animal should ever experience. She flinches at gentle touch and carries the quiet fear of someone who has known pain far too often. When she arrived, her condition was heartbreaking. She had raw paw pads on all four feet, a severe ear infection, and most devastating of all, her toenails are gone, likely removed intentionally. Every step she takes is painful and she’ll need specialized medical care to treat this. Even our experienced veterinarian, who has seen so much, was brought to tears. But Leia is still here. Still fighting. And with the right care, there is hope. We are now consulting with an orthopedic specialist to explore surgery that could ease her pain and give her the comfort she deserves. This is just the beginning of a long road to healing. We’re asking for your help. Your donation will go directly toward Leia’s medical care, treatment, and recovery. More importantly, it will help give her something she hasn’t known enough of: a chance at a better life. If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing Leia’s story. Together, we can show her that the world can be kind. 8/15/26 Update Thanks to your support, Leia is well on her way to recovery. This wouldn't have been possible without the love and care you showed this sweet girl. She can now live the rest of her life surrounded by lots of care and love.

Odie
Odie is a 8 year old American Staffordshire Terrier in New Caney, , who needs $3,500 for Epiglottis Surgery.
New Caney
My dogs name is Odie, I have had him since I was in high school and I am now 27 years old and he is 8. I have done through many many things with my sweet boy. We have slept on streets together, ran away from floods/natural disasters, gone over the road trucking where he made me feel safe, lost relationships and started new ones, been through absolute rock bottom and the top together. ❤️ Odie recently had a foreign body surgery where we found out he has something serious going on with his epiglottis, it is cutting off his airway making him unable to breathe properly without surgical intervention. I was told he will eventually suffocate from this if it is left untreated too long as he cannot stay on steroids to suppress since they don’t agree with him. Odie is very special to me because he is the last dog that I have from my childhood and has gone through the most with me and always been there no matter who or what I lost, I have left people in the dust for him. I have sold things for him and he is absolutely worth all of that and then some. I cannot imagine my life without this goofy boy. He also performs deep pressure therapy for my anxiety. I have recently spent over 5 thousand dollars on his foreign body surgery and trying to find out what’s wrong with him. I have sold my most valuable things and now he needs another surgery to which I simply cannot borrow from anyone or afford. I have maxed out all credit.

Nessie Sinclair
Nessie Sinclair is a 5 year old Scottish Terrier in Spring , TX, who needs $2,500 for Splenic Tumor Surgery with Labs Sent for Cancer.
Spring, TX
Nessie isn’t “just a dog” — she is woven into the deepest parts of our story. She was gifted to me by Christian in July of 2020, right after my first brain surgery, when I was diagnosed with my brain disease. From that moment on, she became more than a companion. She became my healer and my comfort through multiple brain surgeries, vision loss, and some of the darkest valleys of my life. Yesterday was one of the scariest days our family faced. We rushed our sweet Nessie to the vet, and she was diagnosed with a splenic tumor. Hearing those words crushed us. They gave her pain medication and antibiotics, and we were able to bring her home for the night. This morning, we head back for emergency surgery to remove it. Nessie is big sister to Bonnie and amazing with our 4 kids! We love her so much. She has laid her head on mine when I couldn’t lift it. She has stayed by my side when my body was weak. She has been our joy, warmth, and family wrapped in fur. She is truly one of God’s sweetest gifts to us. I have incurable brain disease and my husband lost his job. We need help to save Nessie. Today, we are praying for the best possible outcome. We know God loves her even more than we do, and we are holding onto hope, trusting that He is with her and with us every step of the

My dog is suffering from a broke shoulder and is in close risk of amputation if not taken care of in a timely manner. Charlie is a very calm companion. He is also sensitive in the aspect of being very emotional. He is very well behaved with the family and is a very great loving dog with our kids. We are currently in a tight financial situation and paying $5,000+ for surgery is unfortunately not possible at the moment. We have looked for may Veterinarians in the Houston Area but all of them can’t do it for no less than $5,000.

Honey Boo
Honey Boo Needs YOUR Help
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Meet Honey Boo, a sweet 10-year-old Schnauzer mix whose life almost ended before it truly had a chance to be saved. Honey Boo was sitting on the euthanasia list at BARC. Injured. In pain. Overlooked. No one stepped up for him… until CAMO Rescue did. Because that’s what we do. Right now, Honey Boo is at our veterinarian undergoing an MRI, trying to determine what’s causing the severe issues with his back and pelvis. The MRI alone will cost $2,500, and this does not include the surgery he will need. But we couldn’t leave him behind. Honey Boo deserves comfort. He deserves care. He deserves a chance to walk without pain again. And we cannot do this without you. Please consider donating to help cover Honey Boo’s medical care. Every dollar helps us continue saving dogs just like him.

Hank Daniels
Hank Needs Us Like Never Before
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Meet Hank Daniels. This five year old boy had been wandering around a local neighborhood, scared, hungry, and alone likely for several days. We suspect his former owner dumped him and he was then left to fend for himself. After days of aimless wandering, a Good Samaritan witnessed this poor boy get hit by a car. Lucky for Hank, this kind person stepped up and took him to get help. Enter CAMO Rescue. We couldn’t bear to watch this helpless pup go into the county shelter so we’re getting him the help he needs. We took Hank to the vet as soon as possible where they took x rays and gave us a prognosis. What did they find? Hind limb fractures, femoral fracture with butterfly fragment and L lateral condylar, and a tibial fracture. Hank needed surgery asap. This poor boy has already lived a life of neglect, we can’t stand to see him in pain too. With so many broken bones and impending injuries, this surgery will be expensive. We need generous donors like you to help us cover the costs of Hank’s healing. We can do this, but not without you.

Ace
Support Ace: A Brave Little Frenchie in Need
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
We first saw Ace on the Urgent List at the Beaumont Animal Shelter — a tiny French Bulldog with serious eye problems and limited vision. He needed help immediately. All of us at CAMO knew we couldn’t leave him behind. Ace is the kind of dog who loves with his whole heart. He’s affectionate, playful, and happiest when he’s curled up close for a snuggle. Even with his vision challenges, Ace is still curious about the world. He wants so badly to explore, to feel safe, and to live the joyful life every dog deserves. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Eye Care for Animals, Ace was gifted a special halo device to help him navigate safely. He’s learning and adapting, but his condition is permanent and he will need lifelong supportive care. Sadly, there is no treatment that can restore Ace’s sight. The good news is that he is not in pain, but he will require ongoing veterinary care, supplies, and support to keep him comfortable and thriving. That’s where we need your help. Urgently. Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide the care and stability Ace needs to live a full, happy life. Please consider giving today to support Ace’s journey. Let’s show him that even in darkness, he is surrounded by love.

Louise
Louise: A Call We Couldn’t Ignore
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
You never want to get a call for help from an animal shelter. Unfortunately, we received one from Baytown Shelter about a senior dog in heartbreaking condition. Louise needed us, and we couldn’t say no. We stepped up immediately and brought this sweet girl into our care right away. When Louise arrived at the shelter, she was severely neglected. Her fur was completely covered in painful mats. Staff shaved her down in hopes of giving her some relief, but what they discovered was even worse. Her matting had been so severe that it had tightened around her body, cutting off circulation to her leg. Tragically, part of her leg is already missing. On top of that, Louise’s eyes are also in poor condition, and she likely suffers from KCS — a painful dry eye disease caused by damaged tear glands. Now that Louise is safely at CAMO, she’s finally receiving the emergency care she needs to live out her senior years in peace. At this point, it’s looking like her leg will need to be amputated, but this surgery will ultimately give her the relief she deserves. Please consider donating toward Louise’s treatment. She needs a village and you can be a part of it. \\-------------------------------------- Update: May 19, 2026 We wanted to share a little update on sweet Louise. 💛 The good news: she is doing really well in foster care. She’s settling in, getting comfortable, and finally starting to feel safe after everything she’s been through. And honestly, seeing her relax even a little has been such a relief. But medically, Louise still has a lot ahead of her. Her vet found a mass on her back that needs to be removed, and she was also diagnosed with Grade 3 dental disease out of 4. Her teeth and gums are in rough shape, and she’s likely been living with discomfort for a while. She deserves to feel better, eat comfortably, and move through the rest of her life without pain weighing her down. Right now, the rescue is taking things one step at a time: keeping Louise comfortable, working through her treatment plan, and making sure every medical need is handled carefully and thoughtfully. She is safe now, and that matters so much. But safe doesn’t mean finished. Louise still needs help getting through the next part of her healing. Donations are still very much needed to help cover her upcoming procedures, and her supplies are running low. If you’re able to donate toward her care or send something from her wishlist, it would make such a difference for this sweet girl. Thank you for continuing to show up for Louise. Every donation, every wishlist item, every share — it all helps her keep moving forward. 6/20/26 Update Thanks to everyone who showed Louise love and support on her healing journey. She has come a long way, and thanks to you, she has made a full recovery. Louise is now up for adoption and ready to find her forever home!

Zeus
Zeus was given up on when he needed help the most
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Zeus had lived his whole life with comfort and predictability until one day his owner brought him to CAMO because she felt she could no longer take care of Zeus. Why? Because his luxating patellas were starting to cause issues. This wasn’t his fault. In fact, this could have been avoided if he began treatment at a younger age. Since he never had the corrective surgery or physical therapy, he now needs a more intensive surgery just so he can walk pain free. Of course, these surgeries are not cheap, but we re committed to helping Zeus live the rest of his life as normal as possible. With your help, we can get him the surgery he needs. Be the reason Zeus can walk again.

Mr Sammy
Emergency Medical Support Needed for Mr Sammy
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Mr. Sammy was rescued from the Rio Grande Valley in absolutely heartbreaking condition. When CAMO Rescue stepped in, he was suffering. His entire body was completely matted, and he was covered in over 200 ticks. It was clear he needed our help, and now. After his grooming appointment, things became even more alarming. Under all that fur, it was discovered that Mr. Sammy’s entire body is covered in bruises, showing just how much trauma his little body has endured. Now, Mr. Sammy is fighting for his life. He has been rushed to the Emergency Vet, where testing revealed he is positive for anaplasmosis, a serious tick-borne disease that attacks the blood and can prevent the body from clotting properly. in short, if Mr. Sammy were to get something as small as a nosebleed… he could bleed out. His platelet count, which should be over 175,000, is currently at a dangerously low 4,000. Because of this critical condition, Mr. Sammy will remain hospitalized for the next 2–3 days, receiving intensive care and a lifesaving blood transfusion. The medical costs for treatment, transfusions, and hospitalization are significant, and we cannot do this without support. Every dollar goes directly toward his urgent care, and every share helps us reach someone who can give. Mr. Sammy has already survived so much. Now he needs a community behind him to make sure he survives this, too. Thank you for standing with CAMO Rescue and giving Mr. Sammy the chance he deserves.

Brody
Left Behind in a Kennel—Brody Needs Emergency Care
Houston, TX • ThisIsHouston
Brody was found abandoned on the side of the road, left behind in a kennel like he was disposable. Unable to stand or walk, he had no way to seek help. No voice. No escape. Just waiting. This is Houston stepped in immediately, and Brody was rushed to the emergency veterinarian, where he is currently undergoing extensive diagnostics to determine what’s happening medically and how best to help him heal. Despite being microchipped, the listed owners have refused to help—ignoring calls and texts and even hanging up on ER staff. But that doesn’t change what matters most right now: Brody needs care, comfort, and a chance. And he has that with us. With his microchip, we learned Brody is 6 years old. His body condition is poor—he’s extremely thin and will need a careful refeeding plan. He is still unable to stand or walk on his own. X-rays show no obvious fractures, but he does have severe hip dysplasia and is in significant pain. The veterinary team has started him on a continuous pain medication protocol to keep him as comfortable as possible. CT scans have been sent out for radiologist review, and while one area appears concerning, we are waiting for official results before jumping to conclusions. His bloodwork is stable, but he is heartworm positive and also battling giardia, hookworms, and a severe urinary tract infection, with sandy debris present in his urine. Additional testing, including a urinalysis and culture, is pending. What we DO know is this: Brody is eating well. He’s taking his medications. He’s warm, comfortable, and surrounded by patient, loving veterinary staff, who are gently earning his trust after everything he’s been through. Given the trauma he’s endured, his hesitation is completely understandable—but he is safe now. Can you imagine being dumped in the middle of nowhere, confined to a kennel, unable to walk, and completely helpless? Brody didn’t deserve that. But from this moment forward, he will only know care, kindness, and compassion. You can help Brody heal. Every tax-deductible donation goes directly toward his emergency care, diagnostics, medications, and whatever he needs next on his road to recovery. Every single dollar truly makes a difference. He may have been left behind—but he is not alone anymore. We’ve got you now, Brody. 2/21/26 Update Brody’s MRI finally gave us some answers — and like so much of his journey, they’re complicated. The imaging shows parasites or parasite-related lesions in his C2 vertebra (the second cervical vertebra in his neck, on the right side). The good news: this does \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_not\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_ appear to be cancer or a tumor, which means surgery is not being recommended. Because Brody tested positive for heartworms, our veterinary team suspects that migrating parasites could be the cause. Heartworms, roundworms, and other parasites can sometimes travel through the body and lodge in unusual places. We’ve been advised to test for toxoplasmosis and neosporosis to better identify what we’re dealing with — knowing the exact parasite will help determine the most effective treatment plan. If we can successfully treat the infection, there is a possibility that some of his mobility could return. However, the MRI also revealed decreased cerebellar cortical volume — meaning there has been loss of brain tissue. Unfortunately, brain loss is permanent and will not regenerate. The changes seen do not match congenital cerebellar hypoplasia (which would present as a lifelong “wobbly” gait), and instead suggest a past infectious process. On top of that, Brody has bilateral degenerative changes in both shoulders — arthritis likely caused by years of compensating for his severely malformed hips that are not properly seated in their sockets. His body has been working overtime for a long time 💔 Treating for toxoplasmosis, neosporosis, or even possible fungal causes does not guarantee improvement in mobility. That said, we \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_have\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_ seen slight improvement in his rear function since he’s been with us at NVC — and we’re holding onto that hope. There are still so many unknowns: • How much strength can he regain? • Will he ever be able to fully support his own weight? • How much is the brain change contributing to his mobility challenges? Only time — and treatment — will tell. What we do know is that cognitively, Brody seems bright and engaged. His attitude has improved tremendously, and for the first time in his life, he’s experiencing consistent love and care. That alone makes every step worth it. The radiologist reviewing his scans has over 20 years of experience and told us Brody falls in the top 5–10% of most unusual cases he’s seen. Leave it to us to welcome another medical mystery — but giving dogs like Brody a chance is exactly why we exist. 2/27/26 Update Brody’s medical care has now surpassed $10,000 — and we are still searching for answers to his paralysis. He was dumped in a kennel on the side of the road like he was disposable. But to us, Brody is not a number on a bill. He is not a “case.” He is a life. And he is worth showing up for. Since his MRI revealed parasite-related lesions in his C2 vertebra, degenerative joint disease, and permanent cerebellar changes, we’ve known this would not be a simple recovery. We are continuing targeted testing and treatment for possible toxoplasmosis, neosporosis, and other infectious causes, while also managing his heartworm disease, arthritis, and chronic pain. And now, Brody has started hydrotherapy. Watching him in the water is both heartbreaking and inspiring. You can see how badly he wants to walk. His back legs try to move. His body strains with effort. The drive is there — the will is undeniable. In the buoyancy of the water, where gravity isn’t working against him, we’re seeing flickers of movement and determination that give us hope. Hydrotherapy will not reverse the brain tissue loss. It may not fully restore his mobility. But it gives him the best possible chance to strengthen what function remains, build muscle, and improve his quality of life. It gives him dignity. It gives him opportunity. People sometimes ask, “How much is too much?” Our answer remains the same: his life is not a number. Brody is here. Brody is trying. Brody is worth it. If you believe that abandoned dogs deserve every possible chance — even when the path is complicated and expensive — please consider donating to Brody’s continued care. Hydrotherapy, ongoing diagnostics, medications, and specialty support are significant costs, but they are giving him hope. He was left behind once. We will not leave him behind again. Please donate and share Brody’s story. 3/22/26 Update From the moment Brody was found abandoned on the side of the road — left in a kennel, unable to stand or walk — we promised him he would never be alone again. And thanks to all of you, he wasn’t. Over the past weeks, Brody received everything we could possibly give him. Extensive diagnostics. Specialist consultations. MRI imaging. Medications. Treatment for parasites. Pain management. Hydrotherapy. Careful refeeding. Endless comfort and love. His medical care surpassed $10,000 as we searched for answers and fought for any chance at improvement. Despite the complicated findings — parasite-related lesions in his cervical spine, permanent cerebellar changes, severe hip dysplasia, arthritis, and multiple infections — Brody continued to try. In hydrotherapy, he pushed his legs. He stayed bright and engaged. He ate well. He showed us every day that he hadn’t given up. We held onto that hope right alongside him. But over time, Brody’s body began to tell us a different story. Despite treatment, therapy, and dedicated medical care, his progress plateaued. The effort it took just to exist became exhausting. The conditions affecting his brain and spine were simply too much for his body to overcome. After much consultation with his veterinary team — and with Brody’s comfort and dignity as our only priority — we made the heartbreaking decision to let him rest. Brody became too tired to keep fighting, and we gently helped him pass peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved him. While this is not the ending we had hoped for, we take comfort in knowing that Brody did not leave this world abandoned, scared, or in pain. He left knowing warmth, kindness, soft blankets, gentle hands, and voices telling him he mattered. He left knowing he was loved. Because of your support, Brody received weeks of compassionate care, advanced diagnostics, pain control, and therapy that gave him every possible chance. You gave him dignity. You gave him comfort. You gave him a family when he had none. He may not have gotten the long future we dreamed of for him, but his final chapter was filled with love — and that is because of you. Run free, sweet Brody. You were never disposable. You were always worth it.

Oreo
Can you help Oreo who needs $4,000 for spinal surgery and rehabilitation?
Murphy, TX • CAMO Rescue
Oreo Crumble’s story has taken a heartbreaking turn, and he needs us now more than ever. After his owner surrendered him three weeks ago, she changed her mind and came back to get him from CAMO. Even though it didn’t feel right, CAMO could not legally refuse to return him. They hoped he would be safe; however, shortly after, everything changed when Oreo was brutally run over. After the accident, Oreo was rushed to the emergency vet, and once again, his future was placed in the hands of CAMO Rescue. Imaging confirmed utterly devastating news—Oreo had a broken back. The emergency costs immediately started climbing into the thousands for hospitalization, X-rays, medications, and advanced diagnostics. A CT scan was performed to fully assess the severity of his spinal injury, and the decision was made that surgery was his only chance of survival. Since then, Oreo has undergone spinal surgery to stabilize his back. He is still in pain, but it is being carefully monitored and managed with pain medication, and he is resting more comfortably as he begins his long road to recovery. While the surgery was necessary, it came at a very high cost, and Oreo will require ongoing care, monitoring, and rehabilitation. Tragically, he will never walk again, but with proper support, a cart, and a committed home with endless love, he can still have a life filled with dignity. Oreo did nothing to deserve this. He is gentle, confused, and trusting despite everything he has been through. This tragic accident changed his life forever, and we are so deeply saddened for him. Now, CAMO's focus is on giving him comfort, stability, and the best quality of life possible. Please help us to cover Oreo’s extensive medical bills and the care he will need moving forward. Every donation, no matter the size, every share, and every act of support help ensure that Oreo’s future is guided by compassion, not finances. Oreo Crumble deserves to know that he is endlessly loved and not fighting alone. Thank you for your continued support. 3/21/26 Update Thank you so much to everyone who supported this little sweetie throughout his healing journey! We are beyond thrilled that Oreo is doing incredibly well and was able to get a wheelchair to run and play! Thank you for your continued support!

Frank
Frank is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Tomball, TX, who needs $2,500 for Surgery to Correct Broken Metacarpals 2-5..
Tomball, TX
Meet Frank. He was found trying to cross a busy street in a really bad part of town here in Houston. Dogs in that area suffer from dog fighting, owners in ability to care for them, or injuries through no fault of their own. There are days I wish dogs could speak so I knew their story and there are days. I’m glad they don’t. I have been rescuing and fostering for over 10 years and every dog that comes into my life tells a different story through their eyes. Frank has nothing but love towards people. He has been kind with my dogs and my two cats and has been particularly sweet about anyone touching his foot and very easily, letting the vet x-ray and manipulate it. I normally take in hospice and medical rescues and do so gladly. I am happy to keep Frank, but I need to ensure that as a young puppy, he is able to live on that foot with a good quality of life. Please help me help Frank to have the surgery he needs. I’ve gotten the prices down as low as possible by getting friends to help with discounts. Please help Old Blue Eyes.

Bernie
Bernie is a 12 Year Old Mix-Breed in Magnolia, TX, Who Needs $1,000 for Bilateral Total Ear Canal Ablation Surgery (TECA).
Magnolia, TX
Bernie was rescued off the streets of TX in 12/23 in rough shape. He was found laying motionless in the grassy part of a highway exit, presumed to be deceased. I pulled over to scan him for a microchip, as I do with all deceased pets in the hopes of providing closure to their owners, only to find that he was actually still alive and breathing. I loaded him up in my car, and the rest is history. Bernie has always struggled with allergies and chronic ear infections, which have been manageable with medications up until recently. Due to the severity of his ear infections, his amazing vet has recommended a bilateral total ear canal ablation surgery (TECA) to eliminate the possibility of any future infections. The specialty surgery will take place at NVC Nederland in Nederland, TX. Bernie has been through so much in his lifetime, as evidenced by his permanently scarred and hairless back and tail, cauliflower ears, and cracked teeth. Despite it all, he has remained the most loyal boy. He deserves to be able to live out the rest of his life as comfortably as possible. My boy has been here through the worst times of my life; now it's time for me to do the same for him. A recent car wreck resulted in lost income, the total depletion of my savings, and months without a job. Along with regular expenses, (vet bills, preventative care, rent, car insurance, etc), I have been unable to get ahead and save up the $2,5k needed for Bernie's surgery.

Champ
Champ is a 4 month old Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) in Terrell, TX, who needs $3,000 for Broken Femur Repair.
Terrell, TX
I’m trying to get help for this pup hanging out in the truck parking lot where I park my rigs. The little guy got hit by a truck 5 days ago, ending up with a broken femur. I took him to the closest vet Wednesday; they did X-rays but couldn’t do surgery. I’ve searched for days—frustrating with no callbacks and sky-high prices. This brave dog is in pain and needs surgery now to heal. This dog has a broken femur that won’t heal on its own. After 100 calls, I found a clinic in Nederland, TX—thanks to a referral from one in Austin. It’s a 4.5-hour drive. They can do the surgery this Monday, November 3. The clinic is Neighborhood Vet Clinic in Nederland, TX. Your help now can save his life and give him a fresh start! This pup showed up in our parking lot and has been the sweetest, kindest dog. He’s homeless and hangs out with less friendly stray dogs, but he stays nice and happy. He plays with cats, butterflies, and crickets. There’s no aggression in him at all, even with the hard life he’s had. This tough little dog needs a loving home—your help can make it real! The surgery will cost about $2,000 to $3,000. This hit us out of nowhere, but we can’t let this sweet dog keep suffering in pain. Any help you give to cover his medical bill will mean the world—it could save his life. We’ll foster him through his full recovery too.

Champ
Champ is a 4 month old Mix-Breed in Terrell , TX, who needs $2,000 for Femur Fracture Repair.
Terrell, TX
Meet Champ: A Brave Stray Who Needs Your Help to Heal A few months ago, a sweet dog named Champ wandered into the truck parking lot where I work, looking for a safe place to call home. Since then, a kind elderly neighbor living in a nearby trailer has been watching over him, providing food, shelter, and love. Tragically, yesterday, Champ was struck by a truck, fracturing his femur and leaving him After the evaluation, and the diagnosis confirmed he needs urgent orthopedic surgery to repair the bone and alleviate his pain, allowing him to walk again without long-term issues. Veterinary Hospital: Waiting for Chew Animal Hospital for the call back at the moment. Champ is truly an angel. Despite never having the chance for a real home, he’s an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy who brings joy to everyone. Please help him recover from his injury and find a loving forever family! This unexpected expense has caught us off guard. I’ll do my best to cover part of Champ’s surgery costs, but the prices are incredibly high. I can’t bear to see this sweet boy suffer without the urgent care he desperately needs. Your support would mean everything!

Carli
Carli is a 3 month old Mix-Breed in Houston, TX, who needs $2,000 for blood transfusion, diagnostics, and rehabilitation.
Houston, TX • ThisIsHouston
Carli was found as a stray, covered in fleas and with a potbelly full of worms. Just when it seemed like she was finally safe, tragedy struck—she was attacked by another dog at the finder’s house. That’s when ThisIsHouston stepped in to make sure she got the urgent care she needed. X-rays and a CT scan thankfully came back clear, but the attack left her unable to stand or walk. Carli has been staying at the vet clinic, where she’s receiving daily rehab exercises. And this resilient little fighter is already making progress! She’s still knuckling on her front paws and has some weakness on her left side, but she’s placing her feet more regularly each day. The team says she’s a bit of a “slow motion puppy”—a little lazy, but so determined to heal in her own time. Along the way, Carli has fought through coccidia and hookworms, and even needed two life-saving blood transfusions. Thanks to dedicated care and her own strong spirit, she’s finally bouncing back. Now, she needs your help to continue her recovery. Her medical bills are significant, but every donation brings Carli closer to the healthy, happy life she deserves. Update 10/8/25 Sweet Carli girl has officially left the vet is now settling into her loving foster home! We’re so grateful to the amazing vet team for giving her the expert, compassionate care she needed to survive. Carli’s journey has been nothing short of miraculous. This little soul has endured what no puppy ever should — found on the streets, weak and covered in fleas, and then tragically attacked by another dog, leaving lasting damage to her body. But through it all, Carli never stopped fighting. Her spirit, her will to live, and her gentle heart have inspired everyone who’s met her. Now that she’s finally safe, it’s time to give Carli something she’s never had before — a real puppyhood filled with comfort, play, and love. Your support made her recovery possible, and now we need your help to continue giving her the care, physical therapy, and love she deserves as she heals and learns what it means to be truly safe. Please keep Carli in your hearts and continue supporting her journey — this brave girl’s story is far from over, and every donation helps her take another step toward the happy life she’s fought so hard for. ** Update 11/5/25 ** Just a short time ago, this brave pup couldn’t even stand after being attacked and left with severe weakness in her legs. Today, Carli is walking beautifully with only minimal issues — and her joyful, playful personality shines brighter every day! She’s come such a long way from the frightened, injured puppy we first met. Now she spends her days playing, exploring, and soaking up all the love she missed out on early in life. Her resilience and zest for life are truly inspiring — Carli LOVES life, and it shows in everything she does! Carli has started to catch the eye of potential adopters, but nothing is official yet — so we’re still searching for her perfect forever family.

Tommy
Tommy is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Humbled , TX, who needs $1,032 for Jaw Wire Implant Removal.
Humbled, TX
Tommy came into our lives in December 2023 during a feeeze,he was just a baby no more than 6 months old. We brought him in the house so that he could stay safe and decided to name him Tommy based on the show we were watching at the time, he was a new addition to our family of small dogs Tommy needs surgery to remove a wire from his jaw from it having been broken due to a big dog attack. He went though Nederland Emergency Clinic to get his surgery done and it took everything we had to pay for it, after 8 weeks he was supposed to get the wire in his jaw removed but as they do not take payment plans we were unable to do so because we just can’t afford to drop another $1000 Tommy is an antisocial cat and is only trusting of his dog-brothers and me (his owner). He’s very talkative and sweet, never failing to greet me when he sees me walk in. we are already almost a month overdue for his wire removal and it’s clear that it is starting to hurt him. He has changed so much since this whole incident form his talkative self to a fearful shell, I want my sweet confident Tommy back.

Amy
Emergency Surgery Can Give Amy More Time - Help Her Beat This Tumor
Magnolia, TX • D&A Animal Rescue
Amy has spent her 11 years on this earth being nothing but gentle, loving, and loyal — the kind of dog that melts your heart with a single look. She’s not just a rescue; she’s family to those who’ve cared for her, especially the team at D&A Animal Rescue, who gave her a second chance when she needed it most. But now Amy needs another miracle. D&A recently noticed something terrifying — a mass growing in Amy’s belly. Concern turned into urgency as specialists performed ultrasounds and ran tests. The latest results brought hard news: the mass is on her spleen. It’s growing fast, and it’s making Amy uncomfortable. Time is not on her side. The first step is a major surgery to remove her spleen. Then the mass will be sent to pathology to determine if it's benign. If the mass turns out to be non-cancerous, she’ll face a second surgery to remove any remainder of the tumor. D&A Animal Rescue is doing everything in their power to give Amy the best chance at healing, but the costs of surgery, pathology, aftercare, and ongoing medical support are a hefty $4,000. Please consider donating today and helping give Amy the fighting chance she deserves.

Sam
Sam’s Battle: A Puppy in Critical Need of Your Help
Houston, TX • ThisIsHouston
Meet Sam. He’s a 17-week-old puppy who has found himself in the fight of his life after being hit by a car. Right now, Sam is at an ER clinic, fighting for every breath. His injuries are severe: a fractured pelvis, pneumothorax (air leaking into the space between his lungs and chest), and pulmonary contusions. Despite the severity of his injuries, Sam is a fighter — he’s showing incredible resilience. But he needs urgent, intensive care to make it through. He’s currently on oxygen, and the doctors expect that he will need to stay on it for at least 24 hours. The total cost for Sam's immediate care is a staggering $4,279.84. This covers his hospitalization, oxygen therapy, pain management, and the critical care he needs to stabilize. Unfortunately, this clinic doesn’t offer discounts for rescue groups, so every penny of this bill must be covered by compassionate supporters like you. Please donate today and help us give this brave pup a fighting chance at life. With your generosity, we can give Sam the chance to heal and find a loving home where he will grow up to be the happy, healthy dog he was always meant to be. Update 4/2/25: Sam recently underwent surgery and has been focused on resting and recovering. The surgery involved a right SI luxation and a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO). While working on the SI joint, the surgeon discovered a fracture at the top of the ilium, which wasn’t visible on the X-rays. Unfortunately, there was no way to repair this injury. Sam also has severe hip dysplasia on his left side, which will require a second FHO once he’s fully healed from this surgery. On his left side, he’s been keeping his leg extended straight out, and there’s some swelling along his ankle and lower limb. The tendon in that area remains intact, so it’s unclear whether the leg positioning is due to the hip issue or the swelling. To prevent any further complications, Sam will need to do standing and range-of-motion exercises on his left hind leg to prevent it from contracting. While he was a little uncomfortable earlier today, he’s resting comfortably now after receiving a pain injection. It’s heartbreaking to see such a young pup, only 17 weeks old, going through all of this, but we’re so grateful that he’s on the road to recovery. We’re hopeful for his full recovery and continued progress. Update 4/5/25: Sam is doing well! He seems a bit more comfortable now and is urinating and defecating on his own. His techs are carefully flipping him throughout the day to prevent pressure sores. He’s also been receiving laser therapy, and his incision sites are looking great. The bruising around his rear end doesn’t appear to have worsened, which is a good sign, and the swelling in his left hind leg seems to be improving. The doctor wants him fully healed on the right side before we move forward with the left FHO. It may take about 4 weeks, since puppies heal quickly, but he’ll have recheck x-rays at that time, and we’ll go from there. This morning, Sam tried to stand on his own a couple of times! He wasn’t able to hold it for more than a second or two, but it’s encouraging to see progress. We still need to support his rear end during standing exercises to prevent him from leaning backward. We also tried using a towel sling to see if he’d walk, but he wasn’t very interested just yet. We’re hoping the rest of his recovery goes smoothly and uneventful! Update 4/8/25: Sam is learning how to walk again after being hit by a car. He still needs some help, but is making progress. He's such a sweet boy despite everything he has been through!

Alfie
Please Support Alfie's Second Chance at Life!
Somerset, PA • Bark About It Rescue
Alfie was almost out of time when Bark About It Rescue stepped in to save him. After being rescued from the euthanasia list, he went for a standard health certificate appointment to be transported to Pennsylvania when they discovered he would need femoral head ostectomy, or FHO, surgery. This is a procedure Alfie needed to repair his hip. Even though this was an unexpected cost to the rescue, they covered the $1,900 cost without hesitation to ensure he got the care he desperately needed. Alfie has since had the surgery, and he is doing great in recovery. Even though this pup has been through so much, the rescue says he has remained the sweetest, most loving boy. He's well-behaved, adores snuggling, and potentially has a family waiting to adopt him once he has made a full recovery. However, the rescue is still strained by the high cost of the surgery. Your donation, big or small, will go toward covering Alfie’s surgery and recovery, making sure he gets the happy ending he so deserves. Can you please support Bark About It rescue in their efforts to help Alfie heal? Thank you! 🐶❤️

Griff
Griff’s Journey to Healing: A Life Saved, A Future Reclaimed
Houston, TX • ThisIsHouston
Found as an injured stray, Griff’s journey has been anything but easy. His injuries and the overwhelming number of animals in shelters across Texas meant that his time was running out. But thanks to the incredible team at ThisIsHouston, Griff was pulled from the euthanasia list hours before his scheduled time, and he got a second chance at life. His injury, a wound that has now aged, has left him with a leg that can no longer be saved—it must be amputated. In addition to this, Griff has tested positive for heartworm, making his journey even more challenging. But despite the odds stacked against him, Griff's spirit is undeniable and he is incredibly sweet. The road to recovery will be long, but Griff will be able to start his new life, pain-free, with the love and care he deserves. We are asking for your support to cover the costs of Griff's life-saving treatments, including his leg amputation surgery and heartworm treatment. Griff's shown the true meaning of resilience, and we owe it to him to give him the best shot at a full life. With your help, Griff has a chance to experience the love and happiness he's always deserved. Update 4/2/25: Griff had an amputation and is recovering well but has some pretty intense bruising on his body in areas not near his incision site. He’s already been to the vet this week for bloodwork and some testing. His clotting times are also less than they should be, so the vet is slightly concerned. But clinically, he’s in good spirits. His foster mom is keeping a close eye on him and says he always has to be touching her. He’s super sweet, and we’re so glad he’s still alive today!

Sam
Sam is a 6 year old Blackmouth Cur in Orange, TX, who needs $2,000 for Cancer Treatment.
Orange, TX
Our family rescued Sam around 12 weeks old. He was breed to be a hog dog and he wanted nothing to do with that so the owner at the time has no desire to keep him. Sam has been the biggest blessing in our lives. Sam is not only loved by our family but many other family friends and relatives. Many say they wish they could find a dog like Sam! In late January Sam developed a limp on his front right leg. Long story short after 3 vet visits all working 5 weeks and X-rays he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. We choose to amputate. He is adjusting well and happy and pain free! We did visit with the oncologist at Animal and referred center in the woodlands and received an estimate per treatment, unfortunately we are not able to afford that. Sam has always has a “service dog” personality, he knows when someone is not well and will not leave their side. I have had both parents stay with me after surgeries and he is very attentive to them. Sam loves to go on rides, play ball and to swim. Sam has visited the local nursing home bringing joy to the residents I think it made him happy to let each one loveon him. After Sam was diagnosed it was absolutely devastating! With the economy the way it has been we have been stretching Pennie’s till the next payday. Everything going up in cost but not the paychecks and we want the best care possible for Sam.

Wiener
Wiener is a 12 year old Dachshund in Orange , TX, who needs $500 for Diagnosis and Treatment.
Orange, TX
I took my baby to the vet Feb. 3rd for worms which they gave him medicine for. However they misdiagnosed him for the wrong type of worms and wrong medicine. He still has worms and is now spitting up massive amounts of blood. I took him for a simple case of worms on Feb 3rd. He still has them which I vacuum his bed and the entire house at least 3 times a day. Everytime I do I find worms. He was found tied up in trash bag and I'm a dumpster the day after my late husband told his friend he wanted the exact dog. The dumpster just happened to be at friends place of employment. He was on the verge of death but we got him back to health. I figured falling in love with him at first because I had just lost my dog. Well his lovable personality and silly antics made me fall in love. My husband passed away a couple of years ago leaving me with $900 a month to live on. I lost everything but him he was right there licking my tears and consoling me every step of the way. I have had multiple spine and knee surgeries and he never once left my side.

Lucy
Lucy is a 3 year old American Bulldog in New caney , TX, who needs $2,000 for Cruciate TPLO Surgery.
New caney, TX
Since joining our family at 7 weeks old, Lucy has brought immense happiness into our lives with her sweet and affectionate personality. As Lincoln's best friend, she loves to engage in play, cuddle, and even snore. She never meets a stranger and is always smiling! One evening, Lucy jumped off the bed with a burst of energy. She yelped and then started limping. We immediately sensed something was amiss and knew we had to act fast. After a trip to the vet, our concerns were validated, a torn ACL. Seeing her in pain and limping around has been a challenge, but we remain hopeful for her recovery. Lucy is truly a blessing in our lives, providing us with unwavering love, companionship, and emotional support. Her unique ability to sense our needs and emotions allows her to offer comfort and solace when we're struggling. As I reflect on the transformative power of Lucy in our lives, I’m reminded of the importance of empathy, compassion, and unconditional love. Lucy encompasses all of these. Life happens and it seems to all happen at once. It’s never what you plan for or is expected. While having pet insurance seems like you’re proactive, they deny your claim and you are stuck paying out of pocket. With everything else happening now, kid in college, one income….

David
A Future Free from Pain: Help David Overcome His Injuries
Magnolia, TX • D&A Animal Rescue
D&A Animal Rescue was devastated to learn that this adorable boy was nearly ripped to shreds following a vicious attack from other dogs. Left trembling under a picnic table, he trembled with every heaving breath, his eyes doused in fear and pain. The incident left him in severe distress, with deep gashes across his stomach and blood pouring from his wounds. D&A raced David to an emergency vet hospital to get him the help he desperately needed. He underwent X-rays that revealed just how severe his injuries were, and the vets administered crucial fluids and provided ample pain relief. He was also battling a flea infestation and was treated promptly for it. These initial treatments cost us a staggering $1,500, but this was just the beginning. Upon careful examination, the veterinarian recommended transferring David to a specialist for exploratory surgery. D&A was warned that further complications could also happen, the additional burden looming overhead. The cost of this next surgery is estimated to be between $3,000 and $4,000. D&A is determined to stand by David’s side every step of the way and help him fight this ongoing battle, but they desperately need your help to do so. David is such a kind soul that deserves nothing more than to cozy up in a loving home, forever free from pain and suffering. Update 2/9/25: David is overall doing well! His spirits are high, and his sweet, spunky personality is shining through more than ever. He’s a bundle of joy, always happy and eager to play. It’s heartwarming to see him so full of life after all he’s been through. However, we’ve received some difficult news. David has tested positive for heartworm, which means he will need some serious medical care to get him back to full health. While this is a setback, we’re hopeful that with the right treatment, he can overcome it and continue his journey to a healthy, happy life. Update 2/22/25: While David’s doing well overall, next week marks the beginning of his heartworm treatment. Unfortunately, this treatment is a tough one. It involves painful injections and will require David to limit his activity for several months while he recovers. We know how strong and resilient he is, but this process will be challenging, and we want to ensure he has all the support he needs.
