Baby Ray
Trash to Triumph: Help Baby Ray Fight for a Second Chance at Life
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Baby Ray is just one of the many innocent souls who find themselves abandoned and left to die. Found along with his brother and sister in a remote, wooded area in Sri Lanka, Baby Ray was discarded like trash—helpless, vulnerable, and with no chance of survival. But this tiny, fragile puppy is nothing short of a miracle. When he was discovered, Baby Ray was in a terrible condition: paralyzed, infested with parasites, and struggling to breathe. His body was weak, his chances of survival slim. But despite the odds stacked against him, Baby Ray fought for his life. Currently, Baby Ray is receiving critical care at a vet hospital, where he is undergoing intensive treatment to stabilize his health. The road ahead will be long and filled with challenges. The veterinary team is doing everything they can to help Baby Ray regain his strength, but it will require constant care, medications, and rehabilitation. Baby Ray has shown us the power of resilience. Please donate today to help Baby Ray on his journey to recovery. No animal should ever have to suffer in silence, and together, we can give him the care and love he deserves.

Tina
Tina’s Turnaround: From Sri Lanka Street Survivor to Hopeful Heart
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Tina's story is one of resilience, but it’s also a story of heartbreak. Found abandoned on the streets of Sri Lanka, Tina was discovered in dire condition, unable to move and suffering from a severe spinal cord injury that has left her paralyzed. Her condition is compounded by a large, painful wound at the base of her tail—likely the result of infection or injury from her time on the streets. Tina's journey to recovery starts now, but she needs our help. She has already been admitted to the hospital where dedicated vets are beginning her initial treatments. They are working tirelessly to address her spinal injury, treat her wound, and provide the critical care she needs to heal. But the road ahead is long, and the costs of her treatment are significant. We cannot do this alone. The cost of Tina’s ongoing medical care is substantial, and every day counts. She has already suffered far too much, but with your help, and we can give her the chance to live a life free from pain. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is dedicated to improve animal welfare in Sri Lanka. They provide urgent rescue services, spay/neuter programs and a sanctuary for disabled dogs. Please consider donating and helping them provide aid to animals like Tina!

Kia
Kia is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Garden Prairie, IL, who needs $2,000 for TPLO surgery.
GARDEN PRAIRIE, IL
In April of 2016 I went on craigslist in search of my forever buddy. We came across an ad and immediately went to see the puppies. Their living situation was terrible. The puppies were covered in feces and urine and jumping all over each other. But there was one puppy who sat in the back & observed the craziness. I believe I saved Kia and she's been with me since. Kia has CCL disease and needs a double TPLO surgery. She is currently doing laser therapy treatment at Huntley Animal Care and is currently on pain medication to help take the edge off. Kia has been responding well with laser therapy. Kia is my first pet, growing up I've always wanted a dog to call my own. When I brought kia home she knew she was here to stay. I started training immediately and she retained everything so well. When my wife had a miscarriage in 2020, kia went into my son's room and laid next to his crib. It was like she knew something was missing. Now kia is the best big sister and protector to our daughter. Being the sole provider, it's tough to come up with 5k Kia loved running, chasing her ball, playing in the pool and running in the snow. It kills me to see kia not be able to do the things she's always enjoyed.

Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
In the bustling streets of Sri Lanka, where life can be unpredictable, lives a brave young cat named Soorya. Once a spirited feline, Soorya’s life took a tragic turn when he was struck by a vehicle, leaving him with paralysis in his hind limbs. Soorya's journey has been a tough one. After the accident, he was found struggling to move, relying on the kindness of strangers for food and shelter. Baw Baw Animal Welfare stepped in knowing he would need extensive, long-term care. He is receiving daily medication and a long-term treatment plan is being developed. Despite his challenges, Soorya’s spirit remains unbroken, and he continues to show resilience in the face of adversity. This beautiful soul deserves a chance to heal and thrive, and with your help, we can make that happen!

Rescued from the streets of the Philippines, Baby Billy needs emergency amputation and wound care
Wayland, MA • Lets Save The Strays International LLC
Lets Save the Strays International Barely old enough to open her eyes, baby Billy has already endured more suffering than any living being should. Boss
Help Boss the Cane Corso in Russia: From Abandoned to Adored – Emergency Care Funding Needed!
Norwood, MA • Big Little Life Animal Rescue International
Boss’s life was pure torment. He spent years chained, starving, and suffering in silence. No one would come to his aid, so Boss took his fate into his own hands. Against all odds and using everything he had, Boss managed to crawl to a neighbor's doorstep, desperate to find someone who would help. This was all his body could handle; Boss collapsed, too weak to stand or even raise his head. The neighbors did their best to aid Boss, but it wasn't enough. Boss's body was shutting down from severe starvation and long-term abuse. Fearing he wouldn't make it another day, they called animal rescue organizations. Big Little Life couldn't ignore the plea for help. They arrived and were shocked to see the deplorable condition Boss was in; he was even missing an eye from suspected abuse. Fearful he wouldn't survive without immediate intervention, they rushed him to the veterinary clinic. Boss's condition was grave; due to years of starvation, his intestines had folded in on themselves, his pancreas was inflamed, and his mouth was full of sores. He's struggling to keep food down, he hasn't had a bowel movement, and he still is too weak to stand. Big Little Life has seen terrible cases of animal neglect but this one shook them. It's incredible that despite everything he has been through, Boss still fights for life. Please consider donating to help Boss continue his battle for survival. Update 10/1/24: Boss continues to face serious challenges. There’s now a suspicion that he has megaesophagus, meaning the tube that carries food to his stomach is too enlarged and weak, making it hard for him to swallow properly. He may also have reflux, where food or acid comes back up. His breathing becomes labored and he feels nauseous after eating. Doctors are continuing his therapy and monitoring him closely. Tomorrow, they’ll do an X-ray with contrast to get a clearer picture of what’s going on and adjust his treatment accordingly. Update 10/4/24: Boss continues to be hospitalized, and while his condition remains serious, there's been a bit of progress. His appetite is good, and there’s finally been a little stool, though his body remains dangerously fragile. He’s still too weak to stand and can only lie on his side. But now, for the first time in years, Boss has been able to rest. He sleeps peacefully, finally getting the sleep he was never allowed. However, Boss's misfortune continues. He’s tested positive for heartworm, a dangerous parasite that has infected his heart. It will take months of intensive care and costly medications to give him a chance at survival. His fragile state complicates everything. Right now, the veterinary clinic is focusing on stabilizing him as his digestive system is still in disarray and his body is exhausted. Update 10/17/24: It’s been nearly twenty days since Boss’s rescue. Twenty days ago, his life was hanging by a thread—his body ravaged by years of neglect, barely able to lift his head. He was starving, extremely weak, and had no muscle left. He was missing an eye and couldn’t even hold down his food, but this boy is a fighter. Today, for the first time, Boss managed to stand for a few minutes! Though his legs are still weak and his body fragile, this is an incredible step forward. His appetite remains strong, and he's being fed in small portions of special gastro food throughout the day to help build his strength back up. Unfortunately, despite everything he’s already suffered through, Boss has a battle with heartworms ahead. He's slowly regaining his strength and every day is a step in the right direction, but Boss still needs your love and support to keep going. Update 11/3/24: Boss is standing!!! Every little step is a victory, and every moment of strength he shows feels like a miracle. After so many years of neglect, he’s finally beginning to feel what it’s like to be cared for. Boss has a long road ahead. A pressure sore developed, and the necrotic tissue had to be removed, but he’s showing us that he’s stronger than the scars life left on him. There’s a hint of that carefree spirit that was taken from him too soon. He’s still not strong, but there’s a little spark of joy that’s trying to come back, and that alone is worth celebrating. He’s gradually putting on weight, and life is slowly returning to him. And looming ahead is the heartworm treatment—a long, grueling, and costly process, but one he needs to fully recover. His treatment is ongoing, and the costs are mounting. Boss still needs support to cover his clinic expenses, so he can continue on this path to recovery. Update 11/19/24: Boss continues to amaze us. Still far from his ideal weight, he’s walking more steadily now, and that spark of mischief in his eye is growing brighter every day. Watching him explore his world again—taking careful steps, wagging his tail, and even getting into a little bit of trouble—is nothing short of miraculous. It’s hard to believe that just weeks ago, he couldn’t even lift his head. But as with every recovery journey, there are hurdles. When Boss arrived, his skin was in terrible shape—bald patches everywhere. We assumed his hair loss was due to malnutrition or pressure sores from lying for so long. Our focus was on saving his life—stabilizing him, feeding him, and treating his most urgent conditions and we were hoping his coat would grow back as his health improved. Unfortunately, it didn’t. After tests, we learned the culprit: canine herpesvirus. It’s a viral condition that can affect his skin and overall health, especially in dogs with weakened immune systems like Boss. While it’s treatable, it’s another battle for his already fragile body. It’s going to take time, medication, and a lot of care to help him overcome this. Boss has come so far, from fighting for his life to walking and playing again. But he still needs us—now more than ever. Please keep him in your thoughts and consider supporting his treatment so we can help him overcome this next challenge.

Flood
Devastating flash floods sweep through Mae Tang, Thailand leaving pets and citizens with nothing
Mae Rim, CA • Hand to Paw Foundation
When flash floods swept through Mae Tang, Thailand, families were forced to flee their homes, leaving everything behind. Many returned to find their homes buried in mud and waterlogged, with their belongings destroyed and no access to food, clean water, or electricity. Amidst the chaos, the urgency to rebuild and clean before the mud hardens has become a daunting reality. And their pets, who mean the world to them, are left with nothing. For these families, access to essential pet care quickly became a daily struggle as they fought to survive and recover. That’s where Hand to Paw steps in. Every day, this dedicated team goes out into the hardest-hit areas, bringing essential supplies—both for families and their beloved pets. Rescuers are providing food and vital resources while also helping to repair homes and fences, working tirelessly to restore safety and dignity to those impacted. In the midst of devastation, Hand to Paw remains committed to keeping families and their pets together. But despite throwing everything they can at this situation, rescuers cannot continue their efforts without the help of outside support. Please consider helping today to support this urgent rescue and provide much-needed care and supplies to the countless animals affected by the catastrophic Thailand floods. A donation today will help provide critical supplies and support to those in need, giving them a lifeline as they begin to rebuild their lives. Update 10/14/24: We loaded up 2 trucks and 3 cars full of supplies such as pet and human food, water, pet medications, pads, and more! We spent the afternoon distributing to families who suffered terrible flash flooding in Mae Tang (Thailand) and lost so much when the water filled their homes. The devastation is tragic but the love and support is nothing short of extraordinary. Update 10/15/24: We walked through a home today where the muddy water had left stains on the walls. Absolutely everything was wrecked- the current during the floods had been so strong that even the motorbike was swept away and the house walls had been destroyed. The mud covered absolutely everything. The villagers said the water rose incredibly fast and was unlike anything they’d ever seen. People evacuated quickly to escape the rising flood, only to come back to their homes and find that most everything was submerged and ruined. Mattresses, appliances, clothes, furniture, books, food, pet supplies, and precious things were all washed away. Update 10/22/24: We were able to purchase additional supplies and make a delivery of loads of medications, pet food and human food, flashlights, high power water jets for cleaning, clothes, and lots and lots of supplies to help rebuild what was so violently taken away by the floods. We are able to make sure people and their pets have at least the bare minimum - a bed and food - during this tragic time.

Osiris and Sia are 3 year old Mix-Breeds in Thailand who need $1,000 for Cancer Treatment and Hospitalization.
Mae Rim, CA • Hand to Paw Foundation
Osiris and Sia are two sweet siblings that have suffered horrible neglect. Both are emaciated, covered in ticks, and have cancerous tumors known as transmissible venereal tumors (TVT). They were immediately taken to the veterinary clinic for emergency hospitalization and treatment. Upon examination and diagnostics, it was determined that Osiris and Sia have blood parasites and are malnourished. While the tumors are large, TVT is treatable. They will need to be hospitalized for over a month as they regain their health. Despite all of their ailments, Osiris and Sia have so much love to give and their tails continue to wag. They are extremely sweet and are quick to make friends with strangers. Hand to Paw is on a mission to help Thailand street dogs. They provide care to dogs like Osiris and Sia when no one else will. Please consider donating to help Osiris and Sia receive the care they desperately need!

Shiloh
Shiloh is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Russia who needs $2,000 for Emergency Wound Surgery and Hospitalization.
Norwood, MA • Big Little Life Animal Rescue International
Shiloh was abandoned at an airport by her owners, left behind when something went wrong. They flew away, and the poor dog, confused and heartbroken, ran towards other people for help—because she was trusting and used to being cared for. However, the people she found weren't kind; they were cruel. Instead of helping her or even just moving her off the runway, where animals are prohibited for safety reasons, they attacked her with a sharp hoe. The blade hit her neck, leaving a deep wound on the side, narrowly missing her arteries and spine. In pain, she crawled under parked cars near the entrance gate, where she hid for three days, slowly growing weaker. She was dying as people walked past. On the fourth day, a dispatcher who returned from vacation noticed her and called us. The wound is horrifying; miraculously, her vital neck arteries weren’t damaged and she hadn’t bled out. She was taken into surgery right away, where the doctors cleaned the necrotic tissue, stitched her up, and inserted drainage tubes. Further examinations ruled out internal injuries and viral infections. This sweet, trusting dog survived unimaginable cruelty, but her battle isn’t over. Please help us give her a second chance at life. Your donations will cover her surgery, medical care, and her stay at the clinic. Every little bit helps to heal her!

Perla Negra
Perla Negra is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in Bend, OR, who needs $383 for Hematoma Draining Surgery.
Bend, OR • People Saving Animals
Perla Negra, ike many dogs in Latin America, was born and survived on the streets of Guatemala. She was rescued and arrived at a shelter where she lives with other dogs. She is in a cage with her friends Fiore and Estrella. She was given the name Pearla Negra because she has beautiful black hair. The veterinary student who cares for the dogs at the shelter noticed that her ear was filled with blood, like a pillow. It was so heavy that it was drooping. According to the vet, this happens when they scratch their ear so hard that they break the blood vessels. This requires veterinary attention because it is painful and may burst. Perla Negra has a good relationship with her friends, Fiore and Estrella. She is a little shy with people, she hides and trembles, although when she gets to know them she lets them pet her. Perla Negra lives in a shelter in rural Guatemala. It has limited resources and is full. Therefore, it does not have enough resources to pay for this dog's medical treatment.

Ariadne
Ariadne is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Russia, who needs $1,500 for Emergency Hospitalization and Surgery.
Norwood, MA • Big Little Life Animal Rescue International
Big Little Life The limping Ariadne was spotted on a desolate highway on an extremely hot day. Her appearance was tragic: her head was covered in bloody wounds, and she seemed barely able to stand. What was initially thought to be a car accident was revealed to be the result of human cruelty. Ariadne’s ears had been brutally cut off. She had been in the heat for so long that flies had laid eggs in her wounds, and maggots had begun to eat away at her flesh. She also suffered from severe swelling on one side of her head and showed signs of extreme exhaustion and dehydration after spending days under the sun. The degree of her malnutrition and anemia was extremely alarming. Despite her current suffering, it’s clear that Ariadne was once a majestic pup, showing signs of being well cared for. Her strong bones and overall build suggest she was once a beloved companion. Tragically, it seems that she ended up in the hands of individuals who abused her. At the clinic, Ariadne's wounds were cleaned of parasites, and she was given IV fluids to stabilize her condition. She needed a surgery, however, she first had to regain her strength, as she was too weak for anesthesia. After about 2 weeks, she gained enough weight for surgery, but she still has a long way to go. Please help Ariadne get the care she desperately needs!

Buddy
Buddy is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Karachi, Pakistan, who needs $700 for Wound Care.
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
Buddy was found at a donkey medical camp in Pakistan. The people who ran the camp reached out to ACF Animal Rescue, and mentioned a dog who had been hiding in a hole for several days. After much patience and trying, eventually they were able to coax Buddy out of his hiding spot, where he was slowly dying. He was severely dehydrated and was extremely starving. The most concerning part was the huge gash on the side of his neck that was about the size of a large grapefruit. ACF Animal Rescue has been closely monitoring Buddy, and thankfully, his wound is improving. He is still very timid, but is slowly settling in and becoming more comfortable. Buddy is fighting hard to improve, but he still needs a lot of further veterinary care to fully heal. Please consider supporting his journey back to health.

Kai
Kai is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Karachi, Pakistan, who needs $600 for Torture Wounds.
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
Kai was dropped off late one night at the front of ACF Animal Rescue, his body littered with cuts and wounds from head to toe. The cuts varied in severity all over his body. Sadly, injuries like these indicate signs of torture and abuse by a human. He was in severe shock and in excruciating pain. He is receiving treatment for his wounds from wonderful caretakers now. He receives both pain medication as well as antibiotics to ensure he does not get any infections. Although the most obvious scars Kai has are on the outside, his spirit has been emotionally abused as well. Kai has been hesitant to receive care, understandably so, as he is still not sure who to trust. He is in excellent loving hands with his caretakers who are giving him the love and patience he needs to emotionally heal. Kai makes it clear he wants to receive human affection, and is just unsure how right now. He opens up a bit more each day. Please help support Kai in his emotional and physical journey back to health. He is with ACF Animal Rescue located in Karachi, Pakistan. They are a non-profit that relies on donations to give animals, like Kai, the much-needed care they deserve.

Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
ACF Animal Rescue Champa's story is absolutely gut-wrenching. She is a 4-year-old donkey who was abused and abandoned on the streets of Pakistan. She had her eye badly damaged and was left neglected for so long that there is a large hole in her head. When ACF Animal Rescue rescued her, she had parts of her bone exposed in the massive cavity on her face where her eye should be. This injury is sadly not the only one, as she had more cuts and bruises all over her body. She has been receiving extensive medical care since, and thankfully, is recovering. The rescue is so relieved about her hopeful prognosis. Champa was extremely traumatized. She had been living alone in debilitating pain, unable to care or defend herself. Thankfully, she is now being given a steady supply of medical care, food, water and love. Champa will never face hardships again like she has. Please help show Champa that there is still love and support in this world. She is so deserving, like all animals. Baby is a 2 month old Donkey in Karachi, Pakistan, who needs $800 for Eye and Leg Injuries.
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
ACF Animal Rescue ACF Animal Rescue received a desperate plea for help and responded quickly. The scene they arrived at was heartbreaking. A mother donkey absolutely panicked and helpless, pacing around her poor two-month-old baby. The baby donkey had been abused, her eye badly hit, and her back legs run over. She was limp, badly injured, and so weak she could barely hold her head up. Baby was in critical condition and rapidly taken to the clinic for emergency care. She was given fluids, her eye treated, and given proper pain management. Since then, she has regained much of her strength. She is now up and walking, and she is healing wonderfully. She still has a long journey ahead, but ACF Animal Rescue is so thankful she has made it thus far. On the day of her rescue, once Baby was more stable, she was reunited with her mother, both of them finally at peace to be with each other once again in an environment where they knew they were safe. Savannah
Savannah is a 2.5 year old Mix-Breed in Karachi, Pakistan, who needs $700 for Wound Care.
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
ACF Animal Rescue As somebody was walking down the road, they heard barks of a dog in distress. They tracked down the barks and realized they were coming from Savannah, a dog who had fallen into a water tank. Immediately, ACF Animal Rescue intervened and sent in a team to extract her. There is no telling how long poor Savannah had been trapped down there, just thank goodness she was heard. Savannah had a huge gash on the side of her neck, about the size of a softball, most likely an injury she received from her fall into the water tank. She has been undergoing close monitoring and treatment. Thankfully, her wound has healed by about an inch or two, which is very encouraging. Savannah had to be absolutely terrified and in so much pain when her rescuers arrived. She was extremely vulnerable. However, when a volunteer lowered himself into the water tank to get Savannah out, she did not lash out. She calmly approached him and accepted the help. She was full of trust and gratitude. She has kept this disposition throughout her care. ACF Animal Rescue is located in Karachi, Pakistan and relies on donations to give Savannah the support she needs on her continued journey to healing. Mr. Smitten
Mr. Smitten is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Karachi, Pakistan, who needs $600 for Ear Injury
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
ACF Animal Rescue Mr. Smitten was found at the front gate of ACF Animal Rescue in Pakistan. He was most likely dropped off by a Good Samaritan who found him in absolutely tragic shape. Unfortunately, this is not a rare occurrence for the rescue. Mr. Smitten was in a horrific state, his body in absolute shock. He had a huge deep gash on his ear, or what was left of it. Because of how severe the damage was, he will ultimately lose his ear. He was severely dehydrated and had a very high fever, most likely from an infection. It is unknown who or what caused this aggressive injury to Mr. Smitten. What is just amazing though, is that, despite his horrors, once Mr. Smitten had time to decompress, he is an absolute lover. He just wants to melt into your hands as you love on him as you can see in his photos. He knows he is safe now. ACF Animal Rescue is taking wonderful care of Mr. Smitten as he begins to heal. They are a non-profit that relies on donations to help animals like Mr. Smitten. Please consider donating to help their cause.

Hula Hoop
Hula Hoop is a 1.5 year old Mix-Breed in Karachi, Pakistan, who needs $600 for Spinal Injury.
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
ACF Animal Rescue At just a year and a half old, Hula Hoop was abandoned on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan. She was left by her owner, assuming she could no longer walk or had use of her back legs. She was rescued and brought to ACF Animal Rescue. Upon arrival, it was assumed by caretakers that Hula Hoop had a severe spinal injury that rendered her paralyzed. Thankfully, upon further assessment, that assumption was incorrect. Hula Hoop does in fact have use of her legs! She will need physical therapy, pain management, and keep a close eye on her health as her spinal injury was a shock to her body. Hula Hoop is an adorable little girl who makes friends wherever she goes. It is not challenging to get this little one to do her physical therapy, as she sees humans and wants to come over to greet them and does her best walking over to do so! She is still very wobbly, but improves every day. ACF Animal Rescue is so happy about the progress this little one has made so far, but she still has a way to go before regaining her full strength. Please consider donating to help support her!

Otto is a 10 year old Mix-Breed Russia, who needs $2,000 for hospitalization for wound and infection treatment.
Norwood, MA • Big Little Life Animal Rescue International
* Big Little Life Animal Rescue * Poor Otto is covered in infected wounds from head to toe. Otto’s life has not always been a living nightmare. Otto became his best friend and confidant and never left his side. Until a day the man died. Otto was found by his owner’s body laying next to him, refusing to leave. He was abused by the neighbors, eventually they threatened him and chased him away from his home. No one wanted an old dog. He lost everything, and was left alone with overwhelming grief and fear. Jaxon
Jaxon is a 4 year old American Bulldog in Parrish, FL, who needs $2,000 for Tibal Tuberosity Advancement Surgery.
Parrish, FL
I found Jaxon on Craigslist when he was 7 weeks old. Unfortunately he had already been separated from his mother. He was being sold by 2 men that claimed they didn't want him anymore. I immediately fell in love with his high energy and big personality. Jaxon is now 4 and has lived in 3 different states, and driven across the whole country with me. He is my best friend and I am his whole world. ❤️ Jaxon has been limping and favoring his back left leg. When we took him to Parrish Veterinary Clinic we were heartbroken at the news. He has blown out his knee and tore his cruciate ligament in his knee. We were also told that he was born with bad hips. His knee will not heal itself and this will continue to cause further problems. Without the surgery, Jaxon's quality of life will be diminished. Jaxon just became a big brother to his newborn baby brother! He loves him so much and never lets him out of his sight; always ins to him when he cries, and watches over him all night. Jaxon has the biggest personality and the sweetest love to give. He is the biggest snuggler and will always choose your lap over his bed. Jaxon used to love his daily morning walk and seeing his neighbor pals daily. Now that I had my baby, I have been unable to go back to work yet and we are living off one income. The cost of Jaxon's surgery is way out of our means as new first time parents with a single income. Jaxon being healthy again would mean more than anything to us. We love him.

Mae Rim, CA • Hand to Paw Foundation
Hand to Paw Sweetie has such a large mammary mass that she is unable to walk properly. She was found struggling to move as the mass swung back and forth getting in the way of her legs. Rehoming Made Easy
Rehoming Made Easy in Edinburg, TX, who needs $1,500 for Pet Resources Center (PCR) Rehoming Kits.
Edinburg, TX • Palm Valley Animal Society
Palm Valley Animal Society At Palm Valley Animal Society, we are deeply committed to keeping pets with their families through our robust pet retention services. We understand that sometimes all it takes is a little support to prevent a beloved pet from being surrendered to a shelter. That’s why we’ve developed a variety of initiatives aimed at helping pet owners overcome challenges and keep their animals safe and healthy at home. One of our key efforts is our monthly low-cost vaccine clinics, which provide essential vaccinations to pets in our community. These clinics ensure that pets are protected against common diseases, helping to prevent surrender due to preventable illnesses. We strive to host a pet pantry every month when supplies allow, even if it's just providing essentials like cat litter. These pantries offer crucial support to pet owners facing financial difficulties, helping them care for their pets without having to make the heartbreaking decision to give them up. Our Pet Resources Center (PRC) also plays a vital role in our retention efforts. Through PRC, we offer a rehome service that connects pet owners with potential adopters, making it easier for pets to transition smoothly into new homes when their current owners can no longer care for them. To further support these efforts, we propose using $150 for each of 10 “rehome kits”, totaling $1,500. These kits will be gifted to fosters or adopters who are stepping up to rehome or retain animals within their homes. Each kit will include essential items and resources that make the rehoming or retention process smoother and more sustainable, ultimately helping to keep pets out of the shelter system and in loving homes. Mission Palm Valley Animal Society provides lifesaving care, comfort, and compassion to animals in need by engaging the hearts, hands, and minds of our community.

License Your Way Home
License Your Way Home in Santa Maria, CA, needs $2,000 for Keeping Pets with their Families!
Santa Maria, CA • Santa Barbara County Animal Services
Santa Barbara County Animal Services Rabies vaccinations and dog licenses are fundamental components of responsible pet ownership. Not only do they ensure the health and safety of individual pets, they also protect the broader community from the risks associated with rabies and unregulated dog populations. However, for many dog owners, especially those facing financial hardship, the costs associated with these essential services can be prohibitive. This challenge is particularly acute when dogs enter the shelter system and their owners, already burdened by financial stress, are unable to afford the necessary vaccinations and licensing fees. In response to this pressing need, Santa Barbara County would like to launch an initiative aimed at covering the cost of rabies vaccinations and dog licenses for dogs who enter the shelter system and whose owners are unable to pay. This initiative is designed to remove financial barriers, promote public health, and support responsible pet ownership, ultimately reducing the number of unvaccinated and unlicensed dogs in our community. Background and Need Rabies is a deadly disease that poses a significant threat to both animals and humans. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent rabies, and in many areas, it is legally required for dogs. In addition to rabies vaccination, dog licenses serve as a form of identification and a means to ensure that dogs are up to date on their vaccinations. Licensing also provides a way to reunite lost dogs with their owners and helps us monitor and manage the dog population. Though we are able to waive many of our fees, we are unable to waive these. For many low-income families and individuals, the cost of rabies vaccinations and dog licenses can be a significant barrier. When a dog enters the shelter system, these costs can become an even greater burden, especially if the owner is facing additional challenges such as housing instability, unemployment, or health issues. Unfortunately, this financial strain can lead to a cycle where dogs remain unvaccinated and unlicensed, increasing the risk of rabies outbreaks and unregulated dog populations. Initiative Goals and Objectives The primary goal of this initiative is to ensure that all dogs who enter the shelter system are vaccinated against rabies and properly licensed, regardless of their owners' ability to pay. To achieve this goal, the initiative will focus on the following key objectives: - Cover the Cost of Rabies Vaccinations: The initiative will provide funding to cover the cost of rabies vaccinations for all dogs entering the shelter system whose owners are unable to afford this critical service. - Fund Dog Licensing Fees: The initiative will also cover the cost of dog licensing fees for these dogs, ensuring that they are legally registered and can be easily identified if they become lost. - Promote Public Health and Safety: By increasing the number of vaccinated and licensed dogs in the community, the initiative will help reduce the risk of rabies outbreaks and contribute to overall public safety. - Support Responsible Pet Ownership: The initiative will educate dog owners about the importance of rabies vaccinations and licensing, encouraging responsible pet ownership and helping to prevent dogs from entering the shelter system in the first place. Implementation Plan The implementation of this initiative will involve several key steps, each designed to ensure that the program is effective, efficient, and reaches the target population. - Financial Assistance Program: A financial assistance program will be established to cover the costs of rabies vaccinations and dog licenses for eligible dogs. This program will be funded through a combination of grants, donations, and our nonprofit partners and will be administered by Santa Barbara County Animal Services. - Monitoring and Evaluation: To ensure the success of the initiative, a monitoring and evaluation plan will be implemented. This will involve tracking the number of dogs vaccinated and licensed through the program, assessing the impact on public health and safety, and gathering feedback from participants and partners to identify areas for improvement. Expected Outcomes The initiative is expected to have a significant positive impact on both the dogs entering the shelter system and the broader community. The expected outcomes include: - Increased Vaccination Rates: By covering the cost of rabies vaccinations, the initiative will help increase the overall vaccination rate among dogs in the community, reducing the risk of rabies outbreaks and improving public health. - Higher Licensing Compliance: The initiative will also lead to higher rates of dog licensing, which will help us monitor and manage the dog population more effectively and ensure that lost dogs can be quickly reunited with their owners. - Reduced Financial Burden on Dog Owners: By removing the financial barriers associated with rabies vaccinations and dog licensing, the initiative will help alleviate the burden on low-income dog owners, allowing them to focus on other important aspects of responsible pet ownership. - Enhanced Collaboration: The initiative will foster stronger collaboration between animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and local government agencies, leading to more coordinated and effective efforts to address the needs of dogs in the community. - Improved Animal Welfare: Ultimately, the initiative will contribute to improved animal welfare by ensuring that more dogs receive the essential services they need to stay healthy and safe. Sustainability and Future Plans To ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative, Santa Barbara County will continue to seek funding from a variety of sources, including grants, donations, and fundraising events. Additionally, the initiative will explore opportunities to expand its scope to include other essential services, such as spaying and neutering, microchipping, and basic veterinary care. Over time, the initiative aims to create a model that can be replicated in other communities facing similar challenges, ultimately contributing to a broader movement to ensure that all dogs, regardless of their owners' financial situation, receive the care and protection they deserve. Conclusion The initiative to cover the cost of rabies vaccinations and dog licenses for dogs entering the shelter system addresses a critical need in our community. By removing financial barriers, promoting public health, and supporting responsible pet ownership, this initiative will have a lasting positive impact on both individual dogs and the broader community. With the support of our partners and funders, Santa Barbara County is committed to making this initiative a success and ensuring that every dog receives the care and protection they deserve.

Joyful Pets Rescue, Inc If there's one thing we know at Joyful Pets Rescue, it's that dogs belong in the loving homes of their families. Through our Stay Together Program, we're all about providing that crucial support to keep these families together, one tail wag at a time. 🐕✨ The Community We're Helping 🌟 The families we support are as diverse as can be, but they all share that unbreakable love for their dogs. Sometimes, life throws challenges their way—things like financial struggles, housing hiccups, behavioral bumps, or even temporary crises—that make it hard for them to keep their pups at home. You might know someone who's hit a rough patch. Maybe job loss, health emergencies, or rising living costs have made caring for their dog tough. Here’s what we’re up to: 1. Pet-Friendly Housing Assistance 🏠 Finding a pet-friendly place to live can be a challenge. Many rentals either don't allow pets or charge sky-high fees, making it tough for some families to secure a home. We step in by A) Covering Application Fees and Deposits: Helping families with the costs of pet deposits and application fees so they can move into pet-friendly homes without breaking the bank, and B) Advocacy and Resources: Working with landlords to negotiate pet-friendly terms and providing families with information on their rights and how to navigate the housing market. 2. Behavioral Training Resources 🐕 Behavioral issues can put a strain on any relationship, especially between a dog and their family. We help by: A) Providing access to professional trainers: Connecting families with expert trainers to tackle common issues like aggression, anxiety, excessive barking, and house training, and B) Creating personalized training plans: Tailoring training plans to fit each dog's unique needs, making sure the training sticks and strengthens the bond between dog and family. 3. Crisis Care Support 🚨 Life is full of surprises, and sometimes families face emergencies that prevent them from caring for their pets. We provide: A) Temporary foster care: Arranging for dogs to stay in loving foster homes until their families can reunite with them, and B) Pet-sitting services: Connecting families with pet sitters for short-term care during less severe crises, so they can focus on resolving their immediate challenges. 4. Nutritional and Veterinary Aid 🩺 Keeping a dog healthy is a top priority, but financial constraints can make it hard. We help by: A) Access to pet food pantries: Partnering with local pet food pantries to provide high-quality dog food to families in need, and B) Financial assistance for veterinary care: Covering costs for essential veterinary services like vaccinations, emergency treatments, and preventive care, and C) Guidance on low-cost veterinary services: Connecting families with affordable veterinary care options, ensuring dogs get the medical attention they need. How the Funds Will Be Used 💸 Every dollar raised will go directly into expanding and sustaining our Stay Together Program. Here’s how your donations will make a difference: - $50: Provides a month's supply of nutritious food for a dog in need. - $75: Covers a session with a professional dog trainer to address behavioral issues. - $100: Supports temporary foster care placement for a dog while their family is in crisis. - $250: Funds essential veterinary care, including vaccinations and emergency treatment. We are passionate about keeping dogs out of shelters and in the loving homes they deserve, and we believe that our Stay Together Program can serve as a model for other communities facing similar challenges. We are committed to not only addressing immediate needs but also providing education and resources to pet families that empower them to navigate challenges before they become overwhelming. Our comprehensive approach includes creating partnerships with local businesses and service providers to offer discounted or free services to families in need. Happier at Home Initiative
The Happier at Home Initiative needs $2,000 for Keeping Special-Needs Pups with their Families.
Ocoee, FL • clefties & coffee rescue inc
Clefties & Coffee Rescue Inc Our Happier at Home fundraiser aims to shine a spotlight on the alarming number of dogs that are being surrendered to shelters and rescues in the state of Florida. We are facing an immense crisis as the amount of dogs losing their homes due to the rising cost of medical care exceeds shelter space and available foster homes. This fundraiser will be used to help encourage owners to spay / neuter current pets to avoid accidental litters and seek medical care for dogs already in their homes as to avoid anymore being surrendered to shelters where most are facing euthanasia. It is the mission of Clefties & Coffee Rescue Inc to be an advocate for special-needs puppies of all breeds. We rescue those who would likely not be given a chance due to their health issues. We will strive to promote awareness of these common defects and to be a resource for those affected in order to eliminate the unnecessary euthanasia of these animals. Keep US Dog Coalition and Rescue Dogs in Their Homes!
Keep US Dog Coalition and Rescue Dogs in Their Homes! - needs $2,000 for Adoptee Training Programs
Fuquay Varina, NC • US Dog Coalition and Rescue
US Dog Coalition and Rescue We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and our adoption fee is $350. Included in this fee are four mandatory one-hour training sessions that cover basic dog training fundamentals—every adopter must complete these classes, without exception. These sessions are designed to ensure that every dog and adopter start off on the right foot. Our trainer, who also volunteers with us, is available to assist adopters who may struggle with training their dog, face challenges in keeping their dog, or simply need advice after bringing their new companion home. While we do accept owner surrenders from our adopters, we strongly encourage them to try training first. Our goal is to work closely with adopters to find solutions to any problems they encounter, rather than immediately taking the dogs back into our program. If a dog does need to be returned, we leverage our trainer’s expertise to address any behavioral issues before making the dog available for adoption again. Our primary objectives are to: 1. Thoroughly vet applicants before adoption, 2. Provide ongoing support and education for our adopters, and 3. Equip adopters with the training they need to be the best dog owners they can be. Mission: Our mission at the US Dog Coalition & Rescue is to improve the lives of street dogs in Mexico and the US through rescue, nourishment, and spay/neuter initiatives. Our goal is to promote companion animal well-being, eliminate unnecessary euthanasia, and empower communities through resources, education, and comprehensive programs.

No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten
No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten - Max’s Helping Paws Foundation in Carmel, CA, needs $2,000 for Emergency Medical Aid for Dogs & Their Families!
Carmel, CA • Max's Helping Paws Foundation
Max’s Helping Paws Foundation Financial stress on all pet families is enormous and growing. This leads to economic euthanasia, surrender of loved pets to local shelters, or pets not receiving necessary care. Families suffer emotional stress, loss of companionship, and sometimes loss of family cohesion as a pet departs and it's people cope with grief, a sense of guilt, and bills. Max’s Helping Paws strongly believes money should not stand in the way of any pet receiving veterinary care in an emergency. Funding from the DOGust competition would support Max’s Helping Paws campaign, “No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten.” We keep dogs with their families by providing financial lifelines to qualified low-income owners with a dog experiencing a health crisis. We define a health crisis as anything urgent, emergent, necessary and unexpected, eminently requiring veterinary attention. We do not assist with preventative care, and focus on support for acute or chronic illnesses or injuries. In 2023, over 70% of the pets we assisted, were dogs. To seek assistance from Max's Helping Paws, owners apply online providing proof of need and proof of residency in Monterey County. We work with all 32 animal clinics in Monterey County. “No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten” will contribute directly to veterinary payments for Max’s Helping Paws canine beneficiaries. This campaign is reflective of our mission to keep dogs out of shelters, alive and home with their people. For 8 years we’ve never denied assistance to an eligible family with a dog in crisis. We serve as a vital resource for intake diversion. We have established relationships with local shelters, veterinary clinics, humane societies, the local SPCA and rescues to ensure we are the first resource when surrender or euthanasia become a possibility solely because of a family’s financial hardship. A dog shouldn’t suffer and a family shouldn’t lose them because of financial hardship. This project will contribute to our ability to continue to say YES to every qualified family and dog in need. The DOGust competition funding would support our mission to keep these dogs with their families, right where they belong. This campaign means a lot to all of us at Max’s Helping Paws, as a small organization making an enormous impact on dogs in need, we are often overlooked. Often in animal welfare, many people initially think rescue, adopt and foster. Coming at over population in our shelters and economic euthanasia from a different angle can be a difficult mission to get across. It is critical to continue bringing awareness and different solutions that can keep dogs with their families. Together, we are all making an impact! Mission: The mission of Max’s Helping Paws is to reduce pet suffering, shelter overflow and economic euthanasia by providing financial lifelines to qualified pet owners in Monterey County facing urgent, emergent and unexpected veterinary expenses.

Mae Rim, CA • Hand to Paw Foundation
Hand to Paw Hand to Paw was utterly heartbroken to have found these puppies suffering from such a horrific case of mange and in need of immediate help. Safe Landing for Strays
Safe Landing for Strays in Sheridan, OR, needs $2,000 for Kennels, Supplies, and Food!
Sheridan, OR • Harmony New Beginnings Animal Rescue
Harmony New Beginnings At Harmony New Beginnings Animal Rescue, we’re committed to supporting our community’s animals, but we’re facing a growing challenge: The lack of safe spaces for stray dogs to stay while waiting to be reunited with their families. Why This Matters: In our community, most found dogs are eventually returned to their owners. But with limited space and resources, finding a safe and secure place for these dogs to wait is becoming increasingly difficult. The need for additional kennels has never been greater, especially with the growing issue of private shelters in Oregon opting out of stray contracts and several counties, including ours, lacking county-built shelters. We have always been committed to supporting Animal Control and providing necessary resources for our community’s pets. We also: • Vet Animals: Ensuring they are healthy and ready to stay in their homes. • Support Local Food Banks: Providing food and supplies to smaller rescues and families in need. • Work with Smaller Rescues: Assisting with needed food and supplies to keep more animals safe and cared for. The Solution: With limited space and an increasing number of stray dogs, we urgently need to build new kennels. These kennels will provide a safe and secure environment for dogs while they wait to be reunited with their families or find new homes. Without this additional space, we risk being unable to help these dogs, leaving them vulnerable and without proper care. By winning this DOGust competition it will help fund these kennels, which will in turn allow us to: • Expand Our Capacity: Help more dogs find their way home. • Continue Our Services: Support our mission of keeping pets. Every donation and share counts. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us build these kennels and create a safe haven for stray dogs in our community. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of these animals and ensure they have a safe place to stay while waiting to be reunited with their families. Mission: We take in pets and livestock in need of medical, nutritional and sometimes behavioral rehabilitation. We seek to improve health for each animal in our care and find them a home that is a match for them. Our team is made up of Veterinarians, farriers, animal control, donors, and volunteers. The goal of our team is to make the world a kinder place for animals and the people that love them.

Berkeley Heights, NJ • Home for Good Dog Rescue
Good Dog Rescue On August 1st, Home for Good Dog Rescue received a desperate call for help. Nearly 20 pug mixes were found hoarded in a single-wide trailer in Marion County, South Carolina. These poor dogs were trapped in a nightmare, suffering abuse and neglect at the hands of a meth-addicted man. The conditions were horrific. These dogs had gone weeks without food or water, and many bore the physical scars of their abuse. Covered from head to toe in fleas and ticks, they arrived with ear infections, eye ulcers, and skin infections. Some were nursing, while others were pregnant. The abuser had inflicted even more pain by burning some with a hot spoon, a chilling testament to the cruelty they endured. Now, 16 of these innocent souls are safe with us, but they desperately need your help. Each dog requires medical treatment, including spaying/neutering, deworming, and care for their various ailments. We need to raise at least $3,000 to give them the chance at a happy, healthy life. All funds from this grant will be dedicated to covering the spay/neuter surgeries and essential medical treatments for our rescued dogs, ensuring they receive the care they need to thrive. Additionally, we will provide our foster families with all necessary supplies, including food, bedding, and medical items, to maintain the dogs' health and happiness while they await adoption. This support is crucial for sustaining a safe and nurturing environment, giving each dog the best chance for a successful transition to their forever home. 🙏 We are asking our community for support. Pearla
Pearla is a Maltese in WHITESTONE, NY, who needs $1,800 for Life-Saving Obstruction Treatment.
WHITESTONE, NY • NYC Second Chance Rescue
NYC Second Chance Rescue A few days ago, we received a heartbreaking email from a fur-mom desperate to save their dog, Pearla. Pearla, a young Maltese, suddenly started vomiting and was unable to keep any food down. She became weak, lethargic, and wasn't her playful self anymore. When her mom rushed her to the vet, she was given medication for an upset stomach. The medication seemed to help with nausea, but Pearla still wasn't behaving like herself. She wasn't eating, drinking, or playing, so something was clearly very wrong. Her owner rushed her to the hospital, where X-rays were taken, revealing a foreign object in her abdomen. The vets recommended further tests and exploratory surgery. The estimated costs for Pearla's treatment kept rising to thousands, an amount her owner simply did not have. Living in NYC on a very tight budget, they needed help. Determined to save Pearla's life, she contacted multiple animal welfare organizations. Unfortunately, her efforts were fruitless until she emailed us. Without hesitation, we agreed and referred Pearla to our vets, who promptly proceeded with the surgery after reviewing the x-rays. The doctors successfully removed the obstruction, which was a peach pit. Pearla is recovering well and will soon be reunited with her mom. Please send all good thoughts to Pearla as she continues recovering, and please consider making a donation to her medical care if you can. $1 or $50, every single ounce of help counts! Mission: NYC Second Chance Rescue was founded in 2009 based on one fundamental principle that has guided us ever since: They Matter! As simple as it sounds, we believe every animal deserves to be treated with compassion and dignity, regardless of breed, age, or medical needs. We are dedicated to ending the unnecessary suffering of animals and working towards a better future by reducing animal overpopulation in shelters, rescuing and rehabilitating critically injured and neglected animals, and connecting the community to services that help pets stay in their homes.

Zoe’s to the Rescue
Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society needs $2,000 for their Community SaNeR Program!
Ardrossan • Zoes Animal Rescue Society
Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society At Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society, we honour and promote the animal human bond – but we know many families with financial struggles and a pet needing vet care can cause a lot of stress in a family. If we were to be awarded the DOGust Waggle Grant, we would be able to further help families keep their pet by helping them access vet care when needed. The core of our mission is fulfilled through a unique five-pronged service approach in collaboration with our partner communities: Spay Neuter Return (SaNeR) Program: The heart of our rescue is our Spay Neuter Return (SaNeR) Program. We provide low cost spay and neuter to animals in our partner communities where income and availability of vet services are a barrier. Supporting People and their Animals in Marginalized Communities: We work to keep animals in their homes and out of rescues. We do our best to support the needs of people and animals in marginalized communities in whatever way possible. We can provide low cost veterinary care, with mandatory spay or neuter, as we are striving to prevent unwanted litters and promote overall animal health. Mission: Our mission at Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society is to make positive changes in the lives of animals and families, as well as the in-need communities we serve.

Community Spay & Neuter!
Baw Baw Animal Welfare needs $2,000 for their Community Spay/Neuter Program!
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Baw Baw Animal Welfare We are putting on a 2-day spay/neuter campaign – running 48 hours straight – on August 30 to September 1. The late hours are to help make it easier on pet owners who work during the day, so that they can even bring their pet in the middle of the night. By preventing unwanted litters, we can curb the exponential growth of the stray animal population and reduce the burden on already overcrowded shelters. Additionally, spaying/neutering has numerous health benefits for animals, including a decreased risk of certain types of cancers and behavioral issues. Our spay/neuter events like this one are open to the community, with the goal being to spay and neuter as many dogs and cats as we can in the area. We provide free spay and neuter surgeries for stray animals as well as owned animals in low-income communities, and currently are able to give 50% of the spay/neuter spots to owned pets. With the DOGust Waggle Grant, we would absolutely be able to increase the current amount of spay/neuters provided during each event. Background: In Sri Lanka, the issue of stray dogs and cats is a significant concern that affects both the animals and the community as a whole. The country's stray animal population has grown substantially over the years, posing various challenges and raising important animal welfare issues. Each year, we actively promote and implement spay/neuter programs to assist pet owners and help control the stray population. Among other goals, these programs aim to provide affordable sterilization services to reduce breeding and prevent the birth of unwanted litters. Public education and awareness campaigns are vital in changing attitudes and promoting responsible pet ownership. These initiatives aim to highlight the importance of spaying/neutering, proper care, and humane treatment of animals. By fostering empathy and understanding, the hope is to reduce abandonment and neglect, thereby decreasing the number of stray animals. Our approach includes collaborating with local veterinary clinics, engaging experienced veterinarians, and establishing temporary clinics in targeted communities. By working closely with local authorities, community leaders, and volunteers, we aim to create a collaborative effort that will have lasting effects on animal welfare.

Canyon
Canyon is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Sri Lanka, who needs $1,000 for Wound Treatment & Physical Therapy for Paralysis.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Baw Baw Animal Welfare Canyon is no stranger to pain and human cruelty. He was hit by a car and, despite clearly being hurt, was left to die. The accident left Canyon's back legs paralyzed and this poor boy dragged his way to food and water in order to survive. He was left in this condition for so long, that his back feet are now severely wounded. Baw Baw knew they had to help this scared, emaciated, and injured dog who has suffered for too long. They stepped up to provide Canyon a second chance at life. Baw Baw is currently treating his wounds and providing pain management. Once Canyon is stronger, he will have physical therapy to hopefully improve his condition. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in Sri Lanka. Dogs like Canyon would continue to suffer without their intervention. Please consider donating to help them provide care for Canyon and continue their important work!

BARC’s BIG Fix
BARC’s BIG Fix needs $2,000 for Spay/Neuter for Low-Income Families.
Fenton, MO • BARC
BARC (Fenton, MO) In October 2003, BARC’s humble spay/neuter program was born. Our first program provided 100 free cat spays for families on government assistance. It was born after years of rescue and volunteering at the pound 6 or 7 days a week. We’d finally came to the realization that we could never adopt our way out of pet overpopulation, not even with the help of every rescue group in town. There would never enough homes for all of the animals continually entering the area shelters. We felt like St. Louis was drowning in unwanted animals. Thousands of dogs and cats are still euthanized every year, despite all of the wonderful efforts and work of so many shelters and rescue groups. We knew we had to refocus our efforts and take a more proactive approach. One of the things we had learned from our time volunteering was that the majority of people relinquishing animals at shelters simply could not afford to fix their pets. Pet overpopulation and poverty go hand in hand, so there was an obvious solution … we needed to fix pets for people who could not afford to do so. Today, BARC provides year-round spay/neuter surgeries for low-income family pets. We target this audience as poverty and shelter overpopulation go hand in hand. By providing additional spay/neuter funding, families won't have to worry about unplanned litters and finding homes for them. Since we started our program in 2003, BARC has provided more than 72,000 free or low cost spay/neuters for low-income families. We continue to gain momentum, with 4,704 surgeries in 2023 for pets of those families most in need. BARC subsidizes over 600 dog and cat surgeries per month in the St. Louis and Rolla, Missouri areas. We cannot adopt our way out of pet overpopulation, but we can "fix" out way out of it. Spay/neuter is the ONLY way to end pet overpopulation. Mission: BARC is a non-profit all-volunteer organization dedicated to animal welfare. We obtained our (501C3) status in 2002. Our mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats by promoting and providing spay/neuter surgeries for pets of low-income families. Our passion to eliminate the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs is strong. We will stay steadfast in our efforts. We won’t stop until we get to ZERO euthanasia, and we know it can be done!

How the DOGust Waggle Grant Will Be Utilized The funds awarded through the DOGust Waggle Grant will be instrumental in supporting our key initiatives: rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters, enhancing our spay/neuter and microchipping programs, and expanding our educational outreach. 1. Expansion of Rescue Operations: Enhanced Shelter Partnerships: We will strengthen existing partnerships and establish new ones with high-kill shelters across the country. This will involve logistical support to rescue more dogs and facilitate their transfer to our care or partner organizations. Transportation and Care Costs: Funds will be allocated to cover the costs of transporting dogs from high-kill shelters to our facilities, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, and safe transport conditions. Additionally, we will cover medical expenses such as vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and treatments for any illnesses or injuries. 2. This includes partnerships with veterinary clinics to provide low-cost spay/neuter services. Microchipping: We will ensure that every dog rescued and adopted through our program is microchipped. The grant will support the costs of microchips and the associated registration fees. Additionally, we will provide microchipping services to community members who may not otherwise afford them, helping to reduce the number of lost pets entering shelters. 3. Community Outreach and Education Awareness Campaigns: We will launch educational campaigns to promote the importance of spaying/neutering and microchipping. This will include social media campaigns, local events, and informational workshops. Educational Materials: The grant will fund the creation and distribution of educational materials, such as brochures, flyers, and online resources, to inform the public about responsible pet ownership practices and the benefits of spaying/neutering and microchipping. 4. Foster Care and Adoption Support Foster Network Expansion: To accommodate the increased number of rescued dogs, we will expand our network of foster homes. The grant will support foster families with supplies, veterinary care, and training resources. Adoption Events: We will organize and fund adoption events to increase the visibility of our rescued dogs and facilitate their placement in forever homes. These events will also include educational components about responsible pet ownership. Targeted Community Impact The DOGust Waggle Grant will significantly enhance our ability to address the issues faced by high-kill shelters and support responsible pet ownership. Our efforts will have a direct impact on: • Reducing Euthanasia Rates: By rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters and increasing adoption rates, we will decrease the number of dogs euthanized due to overcrowding. • Preventing Overpopulation: Through our spay/neuter programs, we will contribute to controlling the dog population and preventing future overpopulation crises. • Improving Pet Reunification: Microchipping will facilitate the quick return of lost dogs to their families, reducing the number of dogs entering shelters and improving their chances of being reunited with their owners. • Educating the Public: Our outreach initiatives will raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, leading to more informed and proactive pet guardians. The support of the DOGust Waggle Grant will enable Knine Rescue Inc. to expand our lifesaving efforts, enhance our spay/neuter and microchipping programs, and educate the public about responsible pet ownership. By investing in these critical areas, we will save more lives, prevent future overpopulation, and promote a culture of compassion and responsibility toward pets. Mission Knine Rescue Inc. is dedicated to transforming the lives of dogs across the nation by rescuing them from high-kill shelters, providing them with essential care, and ensuring they find loving, permanent homes. Our work extends beyond rescue; we are committed to educating the public on crucial aspects of responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter procedures and microchipping.

Juju
Juju is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Karachi, Pakistan who needs $800 for Severe Head Wounds.
Austin, TX • ACF Animal Rescue USA
ACF Animal Rescue Juju was found wandering the streets of Karachi, Pakistan in over 120 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius) blistering heat, having been badly beaten. He was extremely disoriented from his injury and spent days without food and water, hitting a dangerous level of dehydration. Thankfully, Juju was taken to ACF Animal Rescue Foundation. Juju got to the ACF clinic with a bowl of clean water with ice, likely his first time drinking clean water in his life. He practically collapsed in relief. His head was extremely swollen from the extensive beating. He also had a large gash on the top of his head. He has been receiving around the clock care for his head wounds and is being fed a proper diet to get him back to a healthy weight. Juju is extremely fearful of humans, understandably so. His caretakers have had to be very patient with him and do their treatments from afar as to not frighten him. It is their hope that, with time, Juju can learn not all humans are bad. Please help support Juju on his journey back to health. He has fought hard so far, but still continues to need some aid to get him back to his full health. Your donation will make a difference.

Boonrod
Boonrod is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Thailand who needs $1,500 for Emergency Hernia Repair and Hip Surgery.
Mae Rim, CA • Hand to Paw Foundation
Hand to Paw This is Boonrod, a street dog in Lamphun Thailand, who was hit by a car and suffered a broken pelvis and subsequent hernia (a tear in the muscles that is allowing intestines to come out in ways they shouldn’t). Boonrod ended up needing to go into emergency surgery - we were hoping to wait until he was less severely anemic but there were increasing problems with his bladder (which had been pushed out of the muscle wall and was twisted near the tailbone, bulging out with a ball of intestines) and this was creating increasing issues with his kidneys and liver. So in spite of it not being ideal surgery conditions, in order to try and save his life, we had to take a risk. Since his bladder was pushed up backwards near his tail for a while, in spite of it having been placed back to a normal position, he struggled to urinate on his own. He is taking supplements and requires manual support to express urine but the doctor suspects this is temporary. He has recovered well from this first procedure but still requires hip surgery. Despite being in immense pain, Boonrod is such a sweet, loving dog. Hand to Paw helps street dogs like Boonrod when no one else will. Please donate to help Boonrod get his second chance. Update 9/1/2024: Boonrod is doing extremely well! He is feeling much better now that his intestines and bladder are back where they are supposed to be. Now that he is strong enough, Boonrod is going in today for a second surgery to repair his bones. We are hopeful this will be his final surgery and he'll be completely healed soon!

Nala
Nala is a 6 year old Pomeranian in Santa Maria , CA, who needs $1,573 for Cardiology Appointment Due to Enlarged Heart.
Santa Maria, CA
I’ve had Nala for 6 years, 7 years in October. I choose her to be a companion to my older pup(15 years). They have always been the best of friends and were extremely close. I lost my oldest fur baby on 8/8/24 to heart failure. During this difficult time Nala has kept me grounded and been by my side 24/7. Nala has been having a really bad cough for the last month. My vet put her on antibiotics but her cough continued. I finally took her in to get X-rays to get a better look. I received a call yesterday that they found the left side of her heart to be enlarged and putting pressure on her throat. I was referred to a cardiologist to take a look at her heart. Nala is a tiny little dog with a HUGE personality. She loves attention and cuddles from those she trust. Nala has kept me company non stop while I morn her sister and has helped me a lot. Nala loves to spend time with my nieces. Nala loved her toys and will play fetch with her stuffed animals. Like I mentioned before I just lost my oldest pup and I used my card to try and save her. I financially can’t afford to take Nala to the cardiologist after everything. I don’t want to loose Nala. She’s all I have left and she’s the only one keeping me from losing myself.

Hope's Home Community Training Initiative
Hope's Home Community Training Initiative is a 0 month old Mix-Breed in Hawthorne, NJ, who needs $2,000 for Hope's Home Community Training Initiative.
Hawthorne, NJ • A Pathway to Hope
A Pathway to Hope Hope’s Home is a rescue and rehabilitation home in Barnegat, NJ, purchased by A Pathway to Hope in 2021, directly utilizing the services of a live-in dog behavior trainer. The rescued dogs and cats are welcomed into Hope’s Home under the care of our dog behavior trainer to enjoy daily life, never knowing they are homeless and seeking a family of their own. They receive daily, intensive training to prepare them for home life, as they learn what it is like to be a beloved member of a pack and a home. However, Hope's Home doesn't only focus on helping secure homes for the homeless dogs we work to save.– It also supports pet-retention and adoption support to fosters, volunteers, adopters, and the community. Because, at its very core, Hope’s Home is a sanctuary for animals in need AND a resource for our community. The community we serve is an important part of our behavior trainer’s role with Hope’s Home, ensuring that we are supporting the behavioral needs of dogs rescued, rehabilitated, and adopted out by Pathway, as well as dogs in need within our community. Pack walks, foster training, training classes (both remote and in-person), individual training sessions, and training support calls are an intrinsic part of Hope’s Home and the responsibility of our behavior trainer. Our goals in working directly with a behavioral trainer to provide support to Pathway dogs and the community are as follows: 1. Offer training sessions to adopters, fosters, and community members in need of dog training support for pet retention and adoption. 2. Reduce the number of returns and improve pet retention. 3. Provide consistent training support to homeless dogs in efforts to find them forever homes. 4. Provide volunteer and foster training opportunities to ensure that all volunteers and fosters are providing consistent training support to the animals they are caring for. 5. Provide training support through training classes, individual training sessions, and consultation calls to community members and adopters to ensure pet retention. 6. Mission Statement: A Pathway to Hope is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned dogs and cats, with a focus on special needs cases, south to north rescue of northern breed dogs, local rescue of stray cats and all breeds of dogs, and community outreach to further the cause of rescue.
Reaching a Community in Need with Community Pets!
Reaching a Community in Need with RBARI Community Pets! - needs $2,000 for Community Programs
Oakland, NJ • Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. (RBARI): (Oakland, NJ) Our goal is to promote proper humane education and decrease breeding in our community, with a special focus on the Paterson, NJ community due to both need and our relationship with animal control. This program will save hundreds of dogs and cats from a life of pain, suffering, and trauma. 1. Free Spay/Neuter Program to provide support to a community in need. This free spay/neuter program is aimed at low-income families to decrease the unintentional breeding of dogs and cats and support pet retention. This program will also include providing additional support, such as medical care and supplies to individuals in need so they can retain their beloved pets. 2. Networking to save more lives. This includes networking to locate resources, support, homes, and rescues for cats and dogs in need within the community. 3. Trap, Neuter & Return (feral cats only). TNR (trap, neuter, return) support program for feral cats that includes the intake and placement of any kittens and/or adoptable cats identified. Our focus area is on low-income areas and communities heavily affected by dog breeding and fighting, sadly with an overwhelming number of pit bull/pit mixes. The program specifically targets animals at risk of breeding. The lack of resources among the communities we serve, coupled with the high need for humane education, is significantly growing an already large problem. Ensuring an animal is spayed/neutered is not always a top priority, which leads to accidental litters going to an already overcrowded shelter—thus leading to the otherwise unnecessary euthanasia of healthy dogs and cats. The lack of spay/neuter also creates additional future concerns for the animal, medically and behaviorally—causing many to surrender their dogs and cats to the Paterson Animal Control facility. It took a strong grass-roots campaign to create the level of trust and flow of information to make this program successful, and RBARI’s connection to the Paterson community has the unique situation of doing exactly that. RBARI staff go into the Paterson Animal Control facility twice a week to assess the dogs and cats for adoption. RBARI staff rescue as many as possible through networking efforts. We additionally take calls directed to the Paterson shelter and attempt to rescue as many Paterson dogs as possible, going into the community to assess. RBARI has worked with the community for over three decades in various initiatives and established the necessary relationships to get this program off the ground. Mission Statement: Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. (RBARI), the leading no-kill animal shelter in Northern New Jersey, is dedicated to second chances by providing safe refuge and essential medical and behavioral care, along with new forever homes to New Jersey’s homeless and abused dogs and cats. Focusing on animals with the greatest need, RBARI is especially committed to those often rejected, including seniors; urgent medical cases; and surrenders. RBARI regularly pulls from local animal control facilities, thus placing an emphasis on “local first,” allowing us to impact the rate of euthanasia as well as reduce the homeless population. This ensures RBARI helps those animals closest with nowhere else to turn. RBARI also supports the community, assisting in animal welfare emergencies and working with partner organizations to provide low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for communities in need. We also offer trap, neuter, and release programs to help stem overpopulation and stop the cycle of homelessness and abuse that too many animals suffer.

We're All Good Girls and Boys Here!
We're All Good Girls and Boys Here! - needs $1,000 for Behavioral Training Program
Topeka, KS • Helping Hands Humane Society Inc
Helping Hands Humane Society Inc. (Topeka, KS) Allow me to introduce you to Koda, an incredibly intelligent border collie/husky mix. Koda’s energy and enthusiasm are boundless, but he struggles a bit in his kennel environment, feeling frustrated and eager to run. When he meets potential adopters, his excitement often leads him to jump up and greet them, which can be a bit overwhelming for his future family. To support Koda and his new parents, we’re offering a training scholarship that will help them learn about his unique breed and channel his intelligence in positive ways. This program is designed to build their confidence as they teach Koda how to use his brilliant mind and energy constructively, creating a strong bond between them from the very start! In Topeka, Kansas, our love for dogs and pets is palpable. As the largest animal shelter in a 30-mile radius, we take pride in caring for around 6,000 animals each year. With national dog intakes on the rise, we realized that our focus needed to shift from merely increasing our capacity to finding innovative solutions to keep beloved pets in their homes. In 2022, we took a bold step by launching our “Training Scholarship” program. This initiative specifically targets larger dogs facing behavioral challenges, which can often hinder their chances of adoption. Recognizing that their size, coupled with the stress of kennel life, contributed to difficulties in finding forever homes, we sought to provide a pathway for these dogs to thrive in a domestic environment. The Training Scholarship program enables adopters to enroll their newly adopted dog in training classes offered by our skilled staff trainers during evenings and weekends. This support is essential for addressing common behavioral issues such as counter-surfing and chasing cats, which can be daunting for new pet owners. By equipping adopters with the tools they need to successfully integrate their dogs into their homes, we foster confidence and resilience within our community of pet owners. In 2023, we expanded the reach of our Training Scholarship program to benefit not only our adopters but also members of the public-facing challenges with their dogs. If a pet owner contacts us about the possibility of rehoming or surrendering their dog due to behavioral issues, we offer them access to our training classes at no cost. Our goal is to provide the necessary support to help pet owners retain their beloved companions, thus preventing the need for surrender altogether. To date, we have successfully issued 91 training scholarships to the public and nearly 200 scholarships to support shelter dogs post-adoption. These numbers reflect our commitment to ensuring that dogs and their families can stay together, even in the face of challenges. Our participation in this challenge is crucial for maintaining the flexibility necessary to respond to the needs of our community and all funding would go towards our training scholarship program. We are focused on creating opportunities for pet owners to receive the assistance they need to keep their pets at home. By prioritizing the well-being of both animals and their humans, we believe we can make a meaningful difference in Topeka and beyond. Our Training Scholarship program is just one example of how HHHS is committed to innovative solutions that bridge the gap between shelter care and community support. At HHHS, we understand that the journey to a successful pet ownership experience can be challenging. That’s why we are dedicated to providing resources that empower pet owners and create lasting connections between families and their furry companions. We invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor, as together we work to ensure that every dog has a loving home and every family can enjoy the joy of pet companionship.

Max's foster family paid to have him seen by Vets in Vans out of concern for his teeth; He has broken canines, dead, and discolored teeth and has been rubbing his mouth. He was diagnosed with Periodontal and Dental Disease grade 4/4, requiring extractions. If left untreated, the disease can lead to more serious health complications. We paid for his blood work and he is cleared for surgery. Max is a senior sweetheart. His soulful eyes tell a story of resilience and hope. Now10 years old, he cherishes every walk and enjoys affection. He loves to pounce on plush squeaky toys and is so cute as he snaps at flying bugs and zooms around the yard. He has also been dreaming of his fur-ever home. Max is a shelter dog in foster care and the shelter does not have the funds to provide for his dental care. He already faces challenges to being adopted simply be being a large senior dog. Your generosity will improve his health and increase his chances of being adopted.

Buster
Buster is a 9 year old American Shorthair in BUFFALO, NY, who needs $1,998 for Surgical Removal of Mass on Tongue with Biopsy.
BUFFALO, NY
Sometime ago I was attacked walking home from a family members house. It took me a few years to seek help I thought I would be ok and eventually forget about it. During the process of seeking help it was recommended by family & friends to get a pet. I searched for a few years for the perfect fit for me. April 2017 I found Buster online & when I got to meet him it was love a first paw touch. In April 2024 Buster had a regular vet check. During his appointment he was scheduled for a dental cleaning to follow. Before the cleaning could be preformed I was contacted by the vet to inform me they found a mass on Busters tongue and would not be able to proceed with the dental appointment. He was referred to a specialist for removal. The first estimate was $3000.00. Buster is my anxiety specialist he always knows when things aren't right for me. I trained him to give paw & take treats by hand. Loves to play with boxes and papers. With my current health issues GAD & HS my funds have been limited. To have him with me happy & healthy for as long as possible with relieve some of my anxieties.
