Holly lost nearly 80% of her fur, will you please help her?

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

At just 10 months old, Holly should have been enjoying puppyhood. Instead, she was found wandering the streets alone, starving, and fighting for her life. The moment we saw her, we knew we couldn't turn away. When she was rescued, Holly weighed barely half of what she should have. Her tiny body was covered in scabs and fleas, and she had lost nearly 80% of her fur. She was weak, dehydrated, and suffering from severe malnutrition, Demodex mange, and painful flea dermatitis. Holly was rushed to the emergency hospital, where she spent three days receiving lifesaving treatment before before she was finally stable. Today, after just one week of dedicated care, Holly is already showing incredible resilience. She is gaining weight, her skin is beginning to heal, and her sweet personality is starting to shine through. Every day, she looks a little stronger and a little more hopeful. But saving Holly came at a cost. Her emergency medical care totaled $5,900, even after the veterinary team worked closely with our rescue to reduce expenses. We are asking for your help to cover these lifesaving costs and give Holly the future she deserves. Once she has fully recovered, Holly will be vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and ready to find the loving forever family she's always deserved. Every donation matters. Every dollar helps. Every gift brings Holly one step closer to a healthy, happy life. Please donate today and be part of Holly's journey from heartbreak to hope. 6/27/26 Update Holly continues to improve. Her weight is nearing what it should be. All the scabbing from mange and fleas is gone, and her hair is coming back beautifully. We are working on resource guarding, which is very understandable given her extreme neglect!!! She is surrounded by stepbrothers and sisters, which has helped her transition to normal. She expresses her appreciation by endlessly nosing me until she is acknowledged. We look to get the remainder of her vetting in the coming weeks, assuming her recovery continues as it has. Stay tuned, and thanks everyone who is following this precious girl. 8/4/26 Update Thanks to all of you, Holly continues to improve, and her weight is nearing what it should be. All the scabbing from mange and fleas is gone, and her hair has come back beautifully. She has now been adopted into her forever home!

Mustang Is Battling the Unknown, Give Him a Chance at a Future

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

This tiny puppy’s name is Mustang, and right now, his future depends on whether help comes in time. Mustang was sitting in the Richardson Animal Shelter suffering from what appears to be a serious neurological condition. He has experienced multiple seizures just since being taken in by Pooch Savers, and one of the videos attached to this post shows just how critical his condition truly is. No other rescue has stepped forward for him. Pooch Savers wants to save Mustang, but we cannot responsibly commit to a case this severe without funding. This case is going to be complex and we need reources to give little Mustang a fighting chance. An MRI alone is expected to cost approximately $5,000, and that is only the beginning. Mustang may require extensive diagnostics, treatment, and long-term medical care. To say “yes” to Mustang, we need real funding now. He is just a baby. He deserves the chance to be diagnosed, treated, loved, and safe. Please donate if you can. Every dollar brings Mustang one step closer to rescue, answers, and hope. If you cannot donate, sharing this post could save his life. ❤️ 6/24/26 Update We are so thankful for all the love and support that was shown to Mustang through your generous donations. Unfortunately, Mustang was no longer able to fight through the pain and has crossed the rainbow bridge, but was surrounded by lots of love and care.

Help This Brave Puppy Heal 💔🐾

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

At just 11 weeks old, little Blaze came to Pooch Savers in urgent need of help. His owner reached out after a devastating injury that caused Blaze's femur and leg to be completely detached. The vet gave us two options: complex surgery with a pin and rod… or amputation. They knew Blaze deserved a chance to run and play again, especially at such a young age so he had the surgery. This gave him the option to experience life as close to a normal puppy as possible. He made it through like a champ, and he’s already wagging his tiny tail. Blaze had multiple pins and rods placed during surgery and now faces 8 weeks of strict crate rest so his leg can heal properly. It won’t be easy, but this sweet pup is surrounded by love and care (and plenty of treats) every step of the way. Any amount you give today helps Pooch Savers cover his medical care, recovery supplies, and all the comfort he needs to full heal. No amount is too small. Thank you for your continued support.

Support Nina’s Battle Against Parvo

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

At just 7 months old, Nina has already endured more than most dogs ever will. Found as a stray and in heat, she had no safe place to call home—until she became desperately sick. The diagnosis was heartbreaking: Parvo, a highly contagious and often deadly virus. Without urgent treatment, Nina wouldn’t survive. Unfortunately, treating parvo is a very costly disease. So far, she’s received nearly $2,000 worth of lifesaving care, including the monoclonal antibody shot that gives her the best fighting chance. She remains on IV fluids and supportive medications, her fragile body battling to heal. Nina’s eyes still hold that spark of hope, and with your help, she can make it through this. 💛 Your donation will help cover the cost of her treatment and give Nina the future she deserves—a life full of safety, love, and second chances. Thank you for your support. 5/11/26 Update Thanks to your generosity and the great people at Waggle who work tirelessly to match donors with dogs in need, Nina received the lifesaving antibody injection, and within a few days, was up and about, wondering what all the fuss was! In August, Nina found her forever home. Her family sends us updates periodically about what a joy she is!

Surrendered and Sick, Momo Deserves a Second Chance

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Momo’s owners gave him up when they no longer had time for him. At first glance, this 8-year-old Shih Tzu seemed healthy, sweet, calm, and already up to date on vaccines. Pooch Savers Rescue took him in expecting only basic care before finding him a forever home. But soon, it became clear Momo had been hiding far more than anyone realized. A few days later, his caretakers noticed nasal discharge and started him on antibiotics. But when symptoms worsened, he was rushed to the vet. X-rays and bloodwork revealed a case of pneumonia that had gone unnoticed. As if that weren’t enough, the vet also found a large bladder stone, smaller kidney stones, and a thyroid imbalance. Poor Momo had been suffering in silence. The plan now is to get Momo completely over his pneumonia before proceeding with surgery. Once he's stable, he’ll undergo a procedure to remove the painful bladder stone and be neutered. His care is expected to cost around $1,500 which is much more than the rescue had planned for this sweet senior. Despite everything, Momo remains gentle and trusting. Please consider donating to help cover Momo’s medical expenses. He didn’t deserve to be given up, let alone left to suffer with these hidden health issues. With your support, we can give him the comfortable, pain-free life he’s always deserved.

Used for Breeding Then Abandoned: Help Max Start Over

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Max was found wandering alone, his tiny five-pound body exhausted. Scared and filthy, it was clear this little Yorkie hadn’t been cared for in a long time. The signs were obvious, he wasn’t neutered, his teeth were rotting, and he was horribly matted. We are confident Max had been used as a breeding stud, then heartlessly tossed aside when he was no longer profitable. Pooch Savers Rescue took him in right away and brought him to the vet. Bloodwork showed he was about ten years old, but don’t let the number fool you, Max has a feisty spirit and a no-nonsense attitude that makes everyone smile. After a week of antibiotics to prepare for surgery, Max had both his dental and neuter procedures, finally getting the care he deserved. During surgery, Max had 11 teeth extracted due to severe decay. He may be nearly toothless now, but he’s healing well and feeling so much better. For the first time in a long time, this little guy is pain-free and able to enjoy life. He’s been through so much, but Max is still full of personality and ready to take on the world—on his terms. Now Pooch Savers needs your help to cover the cost of Max’s medical care. Any donation, big or small, helps give Max the fresh start he’s been waiting for. Sweet Senior Prada Lost Nearly All Her Teeth But Not Her Chance at a New Life

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Prada was found wandering the streets of Dallas–Fort Worth, matted and filthy, her tiny frame barely holding on. One eye was noticeably smaller than the other, and her mouth was in heartbreaking condition. Despite it all, she greeted her rescuers with gentle trust. Pooch Savers Rescue knew she needed help fast, and they refused to let her suffer another day. At the vet, it became clear how long Prada had been neglected. She had just 11 teeth remaining, most rotted beyond saving. Her breath was painful to smell, her mouth visibly swollen. Thankfully, she was already spayed, likely a sign that she once had a home. With good bloodwork results, the team prepared her for much-needed dental surgery. Prada underwent major dental work and lost 10 of her 11 remaining teeth. That one last tooth is helping her keep her little tongue in place, something she now wears with endearing charm. She's recovering beautifully and adjusting to life as a nearly toothless but totally adorable senior girl. Her sweet spirit never wavered through it all. Pooch Savers is asking for your help to cover Prada’s medical expenses. Every dollar helps us continue to rescue and rehabilitate dogs like her. Help Give Gizmo, a Sweet Senior, His Second Chance

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Gizmo was found wandering the DFW area in heartbreaking condition. He was all alone, filthy, severely matted, and clearly abandoned. Despite checking local shelters, local network, and lost pet postings, no one came forward to claim him. Thankfully, Pooch Savers Rescue stepped in, determined to give this sweet boy a second chance at life. Since arriving at the rescue, Gizmo has received the medical care he desperately needed. He was shaved, bathed, vaccinated, and heartworm tested—thankfully testing negative! His bloodwork came back strong, but he was unneutered and in need of dental care, especially given his estimated age of 10 and poor, painful dental health. While awaiting surgery, poor Gizmo came down with kennel cough, causing a two-week delay. But on April 22, he finally had his procedures done, including a neuter and successful dental where only five teeth had to be pulled. Now, Gizmo’s true personality has blossomed—he’s shiny, spunky, playful, and so full of life! He's running around and playing ready to start the next chapter of his journey. Gizmo finally has his second chance, and your support can help complete his journey. Donations will go directly toward his care and give him the happy, healthy life he’s been waiting for. Cali's Comeback: From Crisis to Comfort

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

When Cali was found wandering the streets, she was in heartbreaking shape—filthy, severely matted, and clearly in pain. Her teeth were so rotten she could barely eat. She had been suffering for a long time. She was brought to the local shelter, but her condition was dire. That’s when Pooch Savers Rescue stepped in and knew they had to give her a fighting chance. Cali was rushed to the vet for a full evaluation, spay surgery, and bloodwork. The results were alarming—her infection levels were so extreme, the vet initially assumed she had pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection. But after surgery and closer examination, it became clear: the infection was entirely from her mouth. Her vet, with over five decades of experience, said he had never seen a white blood cell count that high from a dental infection. Cali’s mouth was in horrific condition. Her gums were necrotic and rotted down to the bone. She had to undergo multiple dental procedures and ultimately had every single tooth removed. But this strong girl never gave up. Despite the pain, she remained gentle and trusting, as if she knew help had finally arrived. Thanks to the expert care and her incredible resilience, Cali is finally feeling better. She can now eat wet food with far less pain, and her tail is starting to wag again. Her journey has been long and expensive, but she's come so far. Please help us give Cali the happy, pain-free future she has always deserved.

Help Mama Ella and Her Puppies Not Only Heal, but Thrive

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Ella was surrendered to Pooch Savers Rescue and shortly after arriving, it became clear that she was pregnant. Ella needed close monitoring to ensure a safe delivery given they knew little of her history. Even with all the changes around her, Ella remained gentle and trusting—like she knew she was finally in a place where she’d be cared for. Ella gave birth to four puppies. Heartbreakingly, one was stillborn, and another little one struggled from the start. Despite round-the-clock tube feeding and lots of love, he passed away two days later. While we grieve those tiny lives, we’re so grateful that two of her puppies are healthy, thriving, and already weighing in at 1.5 pounds. Ella has been such a devoted mama through it all. But Ella’s journey hasn’t been easy. Just days after giving birth, she had to be rushed to urgent care again. She had a fever, wasn’t eating, and was experiencing diarrhea—all signs that something was wrong. Bloodwork revealed a condition called eclampsia (milk fever) that can be very dangerous for nursing moms. An ultrasound suggested a possible retained placenta, so Ella was given a Pitocin injection to help expel it, along with antibiotics to prevent infection. Thankfully, she is now stable, and the placenta is fully removed. From X-rays and ultrasounds to emergency visits, medications, and follow-up care, the costs have added up quickly—but every step was necessary to give this little family a healthy start. Please consider donating today to help give them the safe, loving future they deserve. Update Time flies when you’re this cute! 🐶💖 Ella’s sweet little pups are growing stronger every day. Help Sweet Agnes Heal: A Second Chance for a Little Fighter

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Agnes, a tiny Frenchie with big, soulful eyes, was found in heartbreaking condition and brought to safety by Pooch Savers Rescue. She had clearly been neglected for some time—her skin was raw, her body was frail, and she had been left to suffer without the care she so desperately needed. Despite it all, Agnes remained gentle and trusting, as if she knew help had finally arrived. Agnes was diagnosed with Demodex mange, a painful skin condition caused by mites. She also tested positive for Coccidia and Giardia, intestinal parasites that can be dangerous in dogs as weak as she was. Most urgently, Agnes had suffered a prolapsed rectum, which required immediate surgery to relieve her pain and prevent further complications. Thankfully, the surgery went well and she continues to show signs of improvement! Even with all she’s been through, Agnes remains a sweetheart. She greets every caregiver with soft eyes and a hopeful heart. She leans into gentle touches and wags her little tail when spoken to kindly. Agnes is ready to heal, not just physically but emotionally. All she needs now is time, treatment, and the support of people who believe every dog deserves a chance. Urgent: Help Cali the Abandoned Shih Tzu Fight Aggressive Mouth Infection

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

This sweet girl was picked up by Animal Control on December 10th, and her intake photo truly speaks volumes. Cali was in rough shape. She was filthy, matted, and her teeth were in terrible shape with clear signs of infection. Poor Cali was in such poor condition due to neglect that it left her in pain every time she moved or tried to eat. Thankfully, Pooch Savers Rescue took her in, and Cali was taken to Humane Animal Hospital in Dallas on 1/3/25 for spay and dental. They had pre-op blood work done and the results indicated a severe infection. Cali's vet, Dr. Carver, believed that given her white blood cell count being off the charts, in addition to an infected mouth, it might also be a pyometra, a life-threatening condition where the uterus is infected. She was hospitalized and began a week of fluids and powerful antibiotics. On January 6th, Dr. Carver discovered Cali had already been spayed! He also quickly discovered the source of the infection was 100% coming from her mouth! To quote Dr. Carver, "in my 52 years as a vet, I have never seen a white blood cell count as high as Cali's, for a mouth infection". Cali had all but 4 teeth removed...her gums were rotted to the bone and necrosis had set in. Once all the dead gum tissue was removed, the remaining gums were tacked to the jaw bones. Cali remained in the care of Dr. Carver, receiving antibiotics and pain meds until mid-January, when she was taken home. She has lost some weight, but her eyes are bright and her tail wagging! Stay tuned for updates as she continues to convalesce with us. Cali's expenses have been excessive, estimated to be just over $2,000. Pooch Savers Rescue is kindly requesting your support so that they can continue to save the Cali's of the world. Please consider donating today.

Heal Hanson Heal! Stray Found in Tragic Condition

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Hanson is a 1-year-old terrier mix who was found wandering all alone. His tiny body matted and filthy from days, maybe weeks, of being left to fend for himself. The most heartbreaking part of his condition was his severely prolapsed rectum. He was picked up by Dallas Animal Shelter where they performed a procedure to fix his rectum and return it to its proper position. Hanson was microchipped, as he had been adopted from DAS just 5 months prior. They placed him on stray hold in hopes that his “owner” would come forward, but nobody did. Pooch Savers Rescue noticed Hanson and reached out. The sutures had come loose, and the rectum was once again exposed. Fearing they might not attempt the procedure again and possibly euthanize him, Pooch Savers immediately agreed to take him in. He underwent the same procedure in hopes of success this time. He now has proper medication and is recovering in a foster home, receiving love and care. The procedure seems to be holding, but Pooch Savers Rescues need help recovering from his mounting medical bills. Please consider supporting Hanson today on his journey back to health. Update 01/28/25 Today, we're overjoyed to share that Hanson has made a complete recovery! This resilient boy, who once endured such unimaginable hardship, is now thriving and showing his true personality. Not only has he healed physically, but his spirit has blossomed – his playful nature has returned in full force, along with his confident bark! It's incredible to see him now, knowing where his journey began. Every tail wag and happy bark reminds us of why we never gave up on him. The best part? Hanson is now ready for the next chapter in his story. He's attending adoption events, eagerly waiting to meet the forever family who will give him the loving home he has always deserved. Meet Hazel, a sweet 3-year-old Shih Tzu, who was rescued from a horrific situation. Hazel was one of 13 dogs left behind after her owner, an animal hoarder, passed away. The conditions they endured were nothing short of heartbreaking. Hazel, along with one other pup, was saved by Pooch Savers, while the rest of the dogs were placed with other rescues. When we brought Hazel to safety, we discovered that she was severely infested with fleas, and her hair was matted to the skin, creating pain at every movement. As we began to shave her down, we found a mass on her side that required immediate attention. Thankfully, the mass was quickly surgically removed and biopsied, but the surrounding tissue appeared concerning. Our vet is not optimistic about the outcome, and we are anxiously awaiting the biopsy results. We will continue to spoil Hazel with all the love and comfort she deserves as we wait, hoping for a positive result. Hazel's journey to recovery is just beginning, and we are asking for your help. Your generous donations will go towards Hazel's surgery, follow-up care, and biopsy costs. The expenses incurred so far total $500, but this amount may increase depending on the biopsy results and any additional care Hazel may require. Help us to ensure Hazel gets the treatment she deserves. Update 12/09/24 We are so happy to report that Hazel's biopsy came back and is a benign infundibular keratinizing acanthoma - a non-cancerous skin tumor that originates from the hair follicle in dogs, considered a common finding!

Meet Lopez: A Sweet Shih Tzu in Need of Your Help

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Pooch Savers Rescue Lopez is a 7-year-old Shih Tzu who was found wandering the streets, alone and scared. Local animal control picked him up and kept him for three days, but no one came forward to claim him. Unfortunately, Lopez’s right eye had suffered severe trauma, causing it to swell and push the eyeball outside the socket. Due to the extent of his injury, Lopez was marked as "Rescue Only"—and that's when Pooch Savers Rescue stepped in to give him a second chance. We immediately took Lopez to Blink Veterinary Eye Specialists in Dallas, where Dr. Chris Nettune confirmed that his injured eye couldn't be saved and would need to be removed. Thankfully, his left eye is damaged but treatable, and with proper care, he should be just fine. However, both of Lopez’s ears are severely infected, adding to his medical needs. Lopez is scheduled for surgery this Thursday, and his medical care is estimated to cost around $2,000. We’re reaching out to our compassionate community for support. Your donation will go directly toward covering the costs of his eye surgery, ear treatment, and recovery. With your help, we can ensure that Lopez receives the care he needs and has a chance at a loving, forever home. Thank you for being part of his journey and for giving him the chance he so deserves! Donate today and help Lopez on his path to recovery. Update 12/28/24 Lopez is doing amazing! His quirky, playful personality shines brighter every day, and we know the perfect home is out there just waiting for him. Stay tuned for updates as Lopez continues his journey to find his forever family. Thank you for supporting this sweet, goofy boy!

Help Archie: A Puppy Battling Malfunctioning Signals Between His Nerves and Muscles

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Pooch Savers Rescue Archie is an 8-month-old Cairn Terrier/Schnauzer mix who was born at Pooch Savers Rescue. After being adopted, he was unfortunately returned due to his adopters' work schedules and is now still searching for his forever home. During his adoption, Archie was diagnosed with Masticatory Myositis (MMM), an autoimmune condition that causes his jaw to lock. He has been treated with steroids (Prednisone), which has successfully helped manage the disease. However, new symptoms suggest there may be an additional underlying condition. Currently, Archie is being treated for aspiration pneumonia, likely caused by regurgitation, which may be linked to a condition called mega-esophagus. We are awaiting confirmation of this diagnosis. To help manage his condition, Archie needs to eat in an upright position, which is why you may see pictures of him in a laundry basket—his makeshift Bailey chair. When you see him in an actual Bailey chair, it’s from his overnight stay at MedVet. He also wears a donut-shaped collar to manage the regurgitation, which is likely related to the mega-esophagus (ME). We spoke with a neurologist, and Archie will be undergoing two tests to help identify the exact cause of his symptoms, which are suspected to be autoimmune-related. He will need to stay overnight again for further observation. It is now suspected he is battling Myasthenia gravis (MG), a disease in dogs that causes a malfunction in the transmission of signals between nerves and muscles, resulting in muscle weakness and other symptoms. This diagnosis would explain both his MMM and ME. Unfortunately, Archie’s medical expenses are rising. So far, we’ve spent $3,000 on his care, and we anticipate the total cost could reach $6,000 by the time his treatment is complete. We will continue to keep everyone updated on his progress, treatment plan, and prognosis. Thank you so much for your continued support as we work to give Archie the care he needs and help him find his forever home. Update 12/21/24 We want to give a big shoutout to Jerry for making a Bailey Chair for Archie! 2 year old pug surrendered with broken leg under suspicious circumstances

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Pooch Savers Rescue Meet Daisy, an adorable two-year-old pug who desperately needs our help! Daisy was surrendered with a terribly painful injury, her front leg broken. Her old owners decided they could no longer care for her due to her injuries. Thankfully, Daisy is now in the loving hands of Pooch Savers, but she’s facing a tough journey ahead. Daisy has a compound fracture, and while her leg is currently splinted in hopes of healing without surgery, we’ll need to re-evaluate her progress with x-rays in two weeks. If her bones aren’t healing properly, she will need surgery involving metal plates, which could bring the total cost of her care to around $4,000. Right now, we have spent $750 towards her care, but we can’t do this without your support. Every dollar counts! Your contributions will not only help cover her medical expenses but also ensure that Daisy can get the treatment she desperately needs. Please join us in giving Daisy a second chance. She, like all dogs, deserves the opportunity of a healthy, happy life. Donate today and share her story! Thank you for your kindness and support. Update 11/19 We received some tough news today about Daisy. Her leg isn’t healing as hoped with just the splint, and she’s now going to need orthopedic surgery. Her vet bills are already significant, with numerous vet visits, x-rays, splint changes and medications and now we are looking at over $4,000 for her surgery so any donation—big or small—would make a world of difference. If you can find it in your heart to contribute, we’re so grateful for your support. Thank you for standing by Daisy with us! Update 12/03 Daisy recently underwent surgery to have a rod and pins inserted in her leg. The pins are expected to be removed in about six weeks, so she needs to stay calm and be separated from the other dogs to avoid further injury. We’ve only had her for about a month and recently discovered that she is also pregnant. She’s due next week and is expecting three puppies. X-rays show that the puppies are healthy, and their hearts are beating. Please keep Daisy and her babies in your thoughts and prayers. Update 01/20 Despite the pain and betrayal she’s endured, Daisy’s spirit remains unbroken. She is charming, playful, smart, and sweet! She’s also resilient, and deserving of a forever home filled with love and kindness. Daisy’s journey to healing hasn’t been easy, and her medical care has been extensive. Although she is now healed from her leg surgery, while she was still recovering, she gave birth to 3 puppies - sadly, only one survived but we need your help to cover her vet bills

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Pooch Savers Rescue Meet Silver, an adorable 5-month-old female schnauzer who was found as a stray. Silver came to Pooch Savers seemingly healthy but within a few days she became extremely lethargic with no appetite and a 104.2 temperature! Because she was young and without the benefit of a vaccine history, we immediately took her to the vet for a parvo test, which unfortunately came back positive. In these cases there is little time to waste, so she was given a Parvo monoclonal antibody treatment. While waiting for the treatment to work, blood tests showed a decline in white blood cells, indicating that the virus was winning. As the vet explained, things often get worse before they get better. Silver is currently spending her days at Dallas Animal Urgent Care and evenings at Veterinary Emergency Group where she receives IV fluids and appetite stimulants to encourage her to eat. We’re also providing her with Nutrical paste to support her recovery. Silver is just an adorable pup. At Dallas Urgent Animal Care, Silver's little feet barely touch the ground or her crate as she is always being held by her caretakers! We are not sure who enjoys the company more- Silver or the staff. She is such a lover who deserves a bright future where she is healthy again. We know this because the deformity on one paw is consistent with how paws grow when dogs are kept in crates way too small for extended periods of time. The other leg deformity is most likely a birth defect. He was found roaming, scared and alone on the streets after being dumped in Texas. He was covered in fleas, severely matted, and underweight - so much so that his bones are showing. He was dehydrated and anemic. Unfortunately, Monty needs to have one of his front legs amputated. Ever since he entered his foster home, he has been like a shadow. He is so submissive, as soon as you reach down to touch him, he cowers and rolls over, knowing he can't defend himself. He's likely used to showing submission in order to not get punished or abused. He tinkles a little bit too, likely out of fear - touch and interaction with humans has obviously taught him we are not safe, but even with this, he is the sweetest, most loving dog. He looks into your soul with the kindest, soul-piercing eyes, eyes that say thank you! Monty, like all dogs, deserves a chance at health and happiness. Your donation will help Pooch Savers Rescue get him the surgery and nourishment he needs.

Olive

Olive is a 3 year old Affenpinscher in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,455 for Emergency Uterus Removal.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

* Pooch Savers Rescue * Olive was found as a stray, roaming the streets of Dallas all alone at just 3 years old. Defenseless, afraid, and so hungry, she was scooped up and taken into the safety of Pooch Savers Rescue. Due to the diligent eyes of Olive's caretakers, they began to notice she was showing signs of pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus that requires immediate surgery. Without surgery, Olive could become rapidly ill and lose her life. They rushed her to Dallas Animal Urgent Care where their suspicions were confirmed and Olive needed emergency surgery to remove her infected uterus. It is unknown how long Olive roamed all by herself or what she endured as a stray. We do know though that she is incredibly sweet and one of the calmest dogs that the rescue has been able to help. She absolutely loves to cuddle and gives so much love to her caretakers. She is such a delight. Fortunately, Olive's surgery went well, and she is recovering, but the cost of the emergency visit and surgery rapidly added up. Pooch Savers Rescue made the decision to help save Olive, despite the cost. They now need your help and support by donating to her medical bills.

Alvin

Alvin is a 11-year-old Shih Tzu Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $2,000 for Tumor Removal and Dental Care.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Alvin was handed over to the local Animal Control after being found wandering by himself in Alvarado, Texas. It was immediately clear that this poor dog had been neglected and gone without care for far too long. Who knows how long this older dog, at 11 years old, was roaming deaf, blind in one eye, and his small body riddled with tumors. When Alvin came across Pooch Savers Rescue's radar, they wasted no time in rushing to tend to Alvin. They quickly got him to their vet to assess just how poor his health was and immediately began helping him. Alvin is a very docile dog. He is extremely thankful for his caretakers, expressing his gratitude with tail wags and begging for all the pets he can get. His spirit remains high despite what he has been through at an older age. Alvin's most obvious issue is the large mass attached to his head, obstructing his vision, and ultimately blinded him in his left eye. He also has a very large mass that seems to be embedded in his hip joint. Alvin is in dire need of dental care. He is deaf and has a myriad of infections, all of which can be fixed with antibiotics. He is being cared for at Vetsavers Pet Hospital in Dallas, Tx. Alvin's case is just one of many that come through Pooch Savers Rescue. Your donation will help save Alvin, along with so many others.

Lacy is a 10-year-old Shih Tzu Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,117 for Dental Care, Mammary Tumor Removal, and Spay.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Lacy was found wandering all alone in Terrell, Texas. She went to animal control where she was placed on a stray hold, but no one ever came to claim her. After a few days in the shelter, it became evident that Lacy needed medical attention. She subsequently became "rescue only," which is when Pooch Savers Rescue stepped in. Lacy is an older lady, at 10 years old. She has suffered neglect her whole life, evident by the state of her poor dental maintenance. Despite it all, she is very playful and very easily entertained. She is a sweetheart who is so eager for human affection and love. Pooch Savers took Lacy to Mercy Animal Clinic where she had multiple mammary tumors removed, received dental care, and was spayed. Unfortunately, after her spay, she suffered from a minor infection at the incision site. Pooch Savers Rescue believes every dog deserves a second change. This rescue helps rescue hundreds of dogs, just like Lacy, around areas of Texas, and donating will help them continue to do so.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Noodles was found huddled in an apartment complex, alone and frightened. She was absolutely exhausted with a terribly matted coat. She had a large tumor on her head, mammary cysts, rotted teeth, skin and eye infections and was not spayed. Noodles is now safe and getting the tender loving care she deserves with Pooch Savers Rescue. They immediately scooper her up, vowing to pave the path to sunnier days. She is a senior dog, who is so kind and loving. She is desperate for love and has no shortage while she is being cared for by Pooch Savers. It is evident that she is improving, each day she is happier than the last. Noodles is being treated at Mercy Animal Clinic in Garland, Texas. Noodles had the tumor on her head removed as well as her mammary cysts. The vets' initial testing of the tumors came back as "suspicious", so she will need a full biopsy of what was removed. She has been spayed, groomed to fix her coat, treated for her skin and eye infections, and got a teeth cleaning and extraction. Please help Pooch Savers Rescue care for sweet senior Noodles. We are rallying together to ensure she gets the care and support needed for a brighter, healthy, pain-free future.

Lucy

Lucy is a 7-year-old Yorkie Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $500 for Periodontal Procedure with Extractions.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Pooch Savers Rescue was contacted by a friend of Lucy's owner. We were told she was unable to care of her, as that she needed to go into assisted living. As so often happens, when an owners health begins to decline, their pets are often neglected...this could not have been more true for sweet Lucy. We met Lucy at a nearby vet so we could have her rabies updated. We were warned that she had a dental issue, however we were not prepared for how badly she smelled...12 years of rescue and we were taken aback! Matted hair, nasty smelling drool, obvious skin infection, paw pads not visible due to overgrowth. First things first, we immediately shaved her down, cleaning her ears of hair and debris, and shaved her paw pads. Then came a nice soothing medicated bath...she was beginning to feel better, but we knew there was more to do. We don't know how long the teeth were a problem but it had to be many months if not years! The owner fed her chicken and hot dogs, "the good kind", according to her! Noah's Ark, the vet who did the dental knew from the pictures I'd taken, that the dog was miserable and this needed to be addresses ASAP. They put her on an antibiotic and pain med and scheduled the surgery a week later. The teeth were in deplorable condition, but after numerous extractions and extensive deep gum cleaning, she emerged triumphant! She's on her way to back to full health! Pooch Savers takes in dogs whose owners can no longer care for. We do everything we can to get the dog everything it needs to thrive, then we painstakingly search for a family who will love and care of them for the rest of their life...The need is enormous!

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Coco's owner needed to go into assisted living. Unfortunately no family members were willing or able to take her, so without rescue, the families plan was EU! She was delivered to us wrapped in a blanket, nearly motionless, eyes and ears crusted over and matted. Pooch Savers' tag line is, "Every dog deserves a second chance"...that said, we took her to see what we could do. Coco's first day was getting shaved down, especially around the eyes and ears...lots of matting, then a long overdue bath...the next few days were spent at the vets office for a head-to-toe assessment of her condition, as we needed to know what we were looking. Assessment included xrays, teeth, ears, eyes, blood tests, needle aspirate of large lump, check of heart and lungs, heartworm test! Results...severally ulcerated eyes due to Dry Eye; advanced periodontal disease; severe ear infection; lump was determined to be a non-malignant lipoma; xrays showed nothing of concern, blood results were normal and heart and lungs were strong! We were very hopeful that we could treat her other issues and we'd have a viable pup! Under the guidance of our veterinarians, we began treating her conditions. The eyes seemed to be causing the most discomfort, so a medicated ointment was applied to them for a two week period to heal the ulcers, after which a compounded eye lubricant for the rest of her life. The ears required hair removal and steroids. A full dental cleaning that required numerous extractions. It's been several weeks now and Coco is a new dog! She has a strong appetite, loves to play and watch TV...now it's up to us to find a forever home worthy of such a strong spirit. Pooch Savers tag line is, Every Dog Deserves a Second Chance, Coco is proof positive!

It was hard to tell Lucy was a dog when she was found as a stray. She was disfigured by matted hair sloughing off from a skin infection. The person who discovered Lucy raced her to an animal hospital that contacted Pooch Savers Rescue. The list of Lucy's ailments was long, and the rescue said they'd be her much-needed immediate lifeline! "All you could do was shake your head," Scott B., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "This dog has been roaming and foraging for months, if not years! We will not let her down." The rescue now needs a financial lifeline to pay for all the medical care Lucy requires. She is nearly blind in one eye due to trauma. She has a large mass that needs to be removed. She has a heart murmur and requires treatment for her disfiguring skin infection. Karla lived her life outside, in a backyard where ticks and fleas devoured her tiny body. When her owner decided to sell the house, they gave Karla to Pooch Savers Rescue. It was the best thing to have happened to Karla, especially since she was about to need emergency surgery! Just as the rescue finished getting all the ticks and bugs off Karla -- she went into labor! Karla had complications, and the rescue rushed her to the Veterinary Emergency Group, where she needed an emergency C-section. "Karla had one pup naturally but required a C-section for the rest," Scott B., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "After a very tense 30 minutes, all four puppies began breathing. Dr. Connor, Dr. Lee, and the staff gave this story a happy ending. Without their heroic efforts, the puppies would not have survived." The new family is doing great, and Karla will only have happier times ahead. "Everyone who meets her immediately falls in love," Scott says. "Despite her previous poor living conditions, Karla is bright, happy, and wants to be in your line of sight at all times." The nonprofit group is now trying to raise the money to pay for this unexpected but life-saving surgery. Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

When the phone rings at Pooch Savers Rescue, they never know what emergency will be on the other line. And their latest call resulted in the nonprofit organization taking in a pup fighting for her life. "We were contacted by a woman who claimed she found a pup and couldn't keep her," Scott B., from the rescue, tells Waggle. "Then she said the pup was throwing up and had diarrhea. We immediately had her bring the dog to a veterinarian that we paid for." The pup, now called Lilly, tested positive for Parvo. A potentially fatal virus that is preventable with a vaccine. "My heart just sunk," Scott says. "There's no cure or medication for Parvo. All you can give is supportive care. It's so inexpensive to get a dog vaccinated. That's what is so frustrating to us." The rescue transferred Lilly to the Veterinary Emergency Group. Her best chance for survival was to be hospitalized 24/7. Now she's in a fight for her life. "If there had been a delay starting her treatment, it could have been much worse," Scott adds. "They put a feeding tube in just in case things went South. We are very worried. It just makes you sick." Lilly's round-the-clock care will run up a tab costing thousands of dollars. Pooch Savers hope pet lovers out there will help them come to Lilly's rescue by giving to her fundraising campaign. "If there's a chance a dog can be saved, we'll go the extra mile," Scott says. Scott B. from Pooch Savers Rescue is thankful he got the call about Cookie. A woman who felt the sweet Poodle mix was neglected convinced the dog's owner to surrender him to the rescue. But even Scott wasn't expecting Cookie to be in such bad shape. "He was limping. The dog's leg looked like he had on an extra-long sock. It was so noticeable. He was also dirty and matted," Scott tells Waggle. Cookie went straight to the animal hospital for X-rays that revealed he had an old fracture in his leg. "The vet believes Cookie's best option at this point is amputation," Scott says. "Sadly, had the owner taken care of this fracture when it happened, he wouldn't have suffered nearly as much, and he would have been able to keep his leg." The amount of stinky, gross fur the medical team shaved off Cookie was the size of a rabbit. His teeth are in poor condition; he needs dental surgery and to be neutered. With your help, Pooch Savers is ready to get Cookie all the surgeries he needs. Without the amputation, Cookie will remain in pain. "He's in discomfort," Scott says. "Leaving it on is not an option. People failed him. It's sickening." But once Cookie gets fixed up at Noah's Ark Animal Hospital, Scott knows the dog will have a great life ahead. "We can change Cookie's life," he says. "We can take the neglect and stop it right here in its tracks. It's heartbreaking to see. We feel horrible the dog had to go through it. We look at it as an opportunity to stop him from hurting and change his life in the future. No more pain. No more suffering. When we see a wrong, we do whatever we can to right it." The clock was ticking on Helena's life. The senior Yorkie mix was picked up by animal control in Texas and brought to a shelter where she faced being euthanized. The poor thing was matted, filthy, and had several hardened mammary tumors. Luckily, the shelter contacted Scott B. with Pooch Savers Rescue. "Anytime we get a call from a shelter, we'll do our best to make space available," Scott tells Waggle. "They told us she was older and needed help. We did not want her to get euthanized. That's just not in our DNA." Soon after Scott picked Helena up, he learned she was a medical mess. "We took her into our vet for an assessment," Scott says. "Outside of needing to be spayed, she has severe periodontal disease, along with the mammary masses." Helena will have surgery at Noah's Ark Vet to fix her teeth, spay, and remove her tumors. The masses will be sent to pathology and will hopefully be benign. But first, the rescue needs to raise the money for her case. They're hoping you'll help this diamond on the rough. Phineas had a brush with death no one saw coming! Pooch Savers Rescue took in the young Papillon pup from someone with too many dogs. Phineas looked like he was in perfect health, but when Scott B. from the rescue brought him to their veterinarian, he received shocking news: Phineas had a life-threatening heart murmur. "Heart murmurs are graded on a scale of one through six. Six is the worst kind, and Phineas had a grade six," Scott tells Waggle. An echocardiogram of Phineas's heart found one of the ducts that should have closed at birth did not. He needed immediate surgery to close the duct. The rescue contacted Texas A&M University's veterinary cardiology department. "When we sent the echo results to them, they called us and said, 'You need to get him up here right away.' It was that urgent. His heart was at risk of failing at any moment," Scott says. The rescue whisked Phineas to the university. The next day, surgeons inserted a stent through a vein in his leg. The operation was a success! They closed the duct, and blood no longer could seep through. "Had we waited, he would have been dead," Scott says. "He would have gone downhill." Now the rescue is racing again, this time to pay off Phineas's life-saving surgery bill. Murray

Murray is a five-year-old Maltese in Dallas, TX, who needs $600 for immediate eye surgery.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Murray sat suffering in an animal control kennel covered in what Pooch Savers Rescue calls a tomb of fur. "He's a Maltese, and their hair gets tangled easily," Scott B., with the group, tells Waggle. "The pictures don't even translate the full effect of how matted he was. You could feel the knots. He was in significant pain. Each time he moved, the mats were pulling on his skin. It hurt to move." Scott told the shelter they'd take Murray into their rescue and rushed him to a groomer who got them in on an emergency basis. It took two hours for the groomer to get all the mats out. Slowly Murray was transformed into an entirely different dog. "He was running around like a madman, barely able to contain himself, a true rebirth. He was so happy. I can't even begin to describe how it was so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time," Scott says. But then they noticed Murray's right eye appeared to be ruptured. They believe he suffered some sort of trauma. So then the rescue raced Murray to Noah's Ark Pet Hospital. That's where veterinarians determined his eye, sadly, could not be saved. But Murray can still have a wonderful life! He needs surgery to remove the eye. After he recovers, he will be available for adoption. Murray will also be neutered during the operation. Pooch Savers struggles each day in Texas, rescuing as many dogs as possible from shelters. Animal control facilities in Texas euthanize the highest number of dogs in the U.S. The rescue is constantly balancing its resources and the number of lives it can save. Your contribution to Murray's campaign will help the rescue pay Murray's veterinary bill and save more dogs in dire need. If the group did not save Murray from the shelter, he likely would not have a chance. "Every time we see a dog that's been neglected or injured, our heart goes out to them," Scott says. "We know these dogs are domesticated, and they expect us to look out for them. We bring them into the world, and we have to be responsible for them. We can't thank everyone enough for giving to help him!"

Pooch Savers knew rescuing Lucy would be an expensive undertaking, but without their help, she would die. "A lady called us and said she bought a puppy from a backyard breeder," Scott B., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "The puppy came with Parvo. The woman could not afford the pup's care." Scott says the woman tried to call the breeder but could not get an answer. "She told me she thought long and hard about getting the dog from this breeder, and she did it against her better judgment," he says. "She knew the risks associated with a breeder who had no papers for the dog, and the pup didn't have any vaccinations. You're really taking a gamble." Pooch Savers raced the pup to Med Vet animal hospital, where Lucy is fighting for her life, receiving round-the-clock care and IV fluids. No one knows how long Joya limped along in pain with a broken leg, but she suffered for quite some time -- until Pooch Savers Rescue sprung her from an animal shelter. "We got sent a heads up that this dog was at a shelter," Scott B., with the nonprofit organization, tells Waggle. "She was injured and needed immediate rescue. All we were told was that she had an apparent leg injury." But soon after the rescue got Joya, they were shocked. The hits just kept coming for this precious dog. She had a compound fracture in her femur. It was literally broken in two. Then Scott consulted an orthopedic surgeon who gave him bad news: the break was an old injury and could not be fixed. "Our hearts just broke. This dog has been walking on this compound fracture for who knows how long," Scott says. "There was no way to put it back together orthopedically. You don't get any blood flow in a dead bone. The time had passed to mend it with pins." Then they discovered Joya was pregnant! She had to have an emergency C-section. And then more heartbreak: She lost five out of the six puppies she delivered. After Joya heals from her pregnancy, she will need surgery to amputate her leg. It's the only way she will be able to live pain-free. She is a young and smaller-sized dog. The surgeon at Parker Animal and Bird Clinic believes she will recover just fine. She also needs to be treated for heartworm disease. Scott shudders when he wonders what happened to Joya, but donating will help Pooch Savers pay for the massive medical bills for all the care Joya needs. They can't wait to get her fully on the road to being well and finally finding her forever home in 2022! "We want to make this right," he says. "Joya is an innocent creature. She's just as sweet and loveable as can be." UPDATE: Joya and her sole surviving pup, Emersyn, were adopted on 11/9! Joya went to a previous Pooch Savers adopter and Emersyn went to a close friend and rescue supporter. They had x-rays taken and discovered both front paws were disconnected at the wrist! Also, Zoe was suffering from severe periodontal disease. She was a hot mess! This poor dog sat in that condition for 10 days. Naturally, the owner never came forward, and thank goodness they didn’t because the shelter was prepared to cite them for animal cruelty! On day 10, we snatched her up and immediately took her to our vet, who confirmed the front paws were not connected and deemed her “an orthopedic nightmare!” She was also diagnosed with mammary cancer. Our plan will involve two separate surgeries. One to remove both mammary chains, extract the “nodule” in her trachea area and biopsy it, spay her and address her periodontal disease. The second surgery, depending on the pathology of the nodule, will be the Laryngeal tieback. During the examination, the specialist determined there was some type of swelling or lump in her larynx area and deemed that to be most likely the source of the labored breathing. He recommended a biopsy be done and he also suggested a surgery called a Laryngeal tieback. Zoe was not spayed. We ran blood work, which came back normal, so we started her on pain meds. Our orthopedist said Zoe’s paw issue was really a bone issue and it was due to a degenerative disease common in Yorkies and there was most likely nothing that could be done to fix it. He was, however, quite concerned about Zoe’s breathing and wanted to get her in for some exploratory surgery ASAP.

BooBoo is a 13-year-old Corgi mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $260 for Dental.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

BooBoo is a 13-year-old Corgi mix whose owner was elderly and was placed into assisted living and could not bring BooBoo with her. Unfortunately, no family members wanted BooBoo so the woman's son brought BooBoo to a vet to be euthanized! Thankfully, the vet staff didn't want to do that and several good Samaritans started looking around for rescue help. That's when we at Pooch Savers Rescue were contacted and asked if we could take her into our rescue, we were told that, although she was thought to be relatively healthy, she did have SEVERE dental disease, and would likely need all her teeth extracted. She came to us overweight and very confused and, of course, in DESPERATE need of dental surgery. BooBoo is now feeling SO much better and has pep in her step, a wagging tail and is ready to take on the world with a forever home. After being cleared to proceed with the dental surgery, we crossed our fingers and took her to Noah's Ark Pet Hospital on May 24. Upon pick up, we learned that, not only did she NOT need any extractions, all the built up tartar and calcified hair was chipped off and her teeth cleaned up beautifully! Her breath was horrible and we can only imagine how she felt living with a mouth like that! As with any senior dog, prior to any procedure that requires sedation, we do blood work, which showed her to be quite healthy except for early stage kidney disease, probably as a result of her teeth being neglected for years.

Kiwi

Kiwi is an 11-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in Dallas, TX, who needs $800 for critical care.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

It's a call for help that's hard for a rescue to turn down. When Scott B. from Pooch Savers went to a local shelter to pick up a dog, the staff said, "Hey, we have this other dog; maybe you can help?" And when Scott laid eyes on Kiwi, who was in the very back of the shelter, she broke his heart. "She was all alone, in a big kennel, laying in a urine-soaked dog bed with a bowl of old dog food and no water bowl in sight," he tells Waggle. Scott could tell she was in terrible shape and would likely not get adopted by someone perusing dogs at the shelter. "We had to save her. If we could help her with her health problems, we figured that would be great. If she ended up being a hospice dog, that would be OK too. We did not want her to pass away alone in a shelter." The rescue rushed over to Mazie's Mission animal hospital. It turned out Kiwi had heart issues, kidney issues, horrible teeth, and severe arthritis. But it was all treatable! Kiwi is now on special food that's easier on her kidneys. She is also taking arthritis and heart medications and will soon have her dental surgery. "She's responding quite well so far," Scott says. Kiwi's outlook is very bright thanks to a shelter employee who cared and Pooch Savers Rescue. Please help the nonprofit pay for Kiwi's care so they can help more animals with heartbreaking stories like hers.

Little Momma

Little Momma is a 6-year-old Rat Terrier in Dallas, TX, who needs $400 for Tooth Abscess.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Little Momma came to Pooch Savers Rescue in January of this year following the death of her owner. During our normal vetting process, she unfortunately, because of neglect, tested positive for heartworms, which we treated her for immediately! She finished her treatment in early April. About a week ago, one morning, she woke up with her face all swollen, so much so that her EYES WERE NEARLY SWOLLEN SHUT! We thought maybe she was bitten by a bug or stung by something during the night, and we immediately took her in to see our vet. The vet agreed that all indications pointed to a bug bite or possibly an allergic reaction to something, so she was put on steroids and Benadryl. She is thankfully expected to make a full recovery... We instantly started her on an antibiotic and pain meds, and scheduled her for surgery with Mazie’s Mission. On 4/26/21, the infected tooth was extracted. The vet commented that they had never seen so much pus before, and, had the cause not been determined, she most certainly would have developed blood poisoning, which could have been fatal! Unfortunately, the medications were not working and, after a few days, the swelling got so bad that an area of skin burst open and began to ooze. We immediately took her back to the vet and it was determined NOT to be a bug bite or allergic reaction but a TOOTH ABSCESS!

Acorn

Acorn is a three-year-old Dachshund mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,400 for jaw surgery.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Poor Acorn! He's suffering with a broken jaw and needs your help. Pooch Savers Rescue nabbed the adorable Dachshund mix from an extremely high kill shelter in Texas -- just in time. He was listed as a medical case and was not available for adoption to the public. His options were limited. When the rescue's Scott B. met Acorn, he knew they made the right decision. "He is so sweet despite all the pain he was in. He was not despondent or unapproachable; he was loving as can be." He rushed Acorn to see Dr. Shaffer at Veterinarians Dental, where X-rays revealed some shocking news: Acorn's lower jaw bone was broken in two places, making it painful even to eat. He needs several surgeries to fix his jaw using synthetic bone to help mend it back together. Scott tells Waggle that Acorn's prognosis is incredibly optimistic. After he is fixed up, he will be available for adoption. "We think he's got a lot to offer judging from his temperament and spirit. We know if we can get him pain-free and put back together, he will make someone's family complete." Pooch Savers Rescue has saved more than 500 dogs, and they need your help to save another 500. "We started Pooch Savers because we were moved to action by the crisis in Texas shelters. This catastrophe takes the lives of thousands of innocent dogs every year," Lisa B., president and founder of the rescue, tells Waggle. The rescue doesn't turn down dogs who need medical assistance, but they can only do that with your help.

Moses

Moses is an eight-year-old Maltipoo dog in Dallas, TX, who needs $2,000 for cancer surgery.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Moses the Maltipoo needs your help to get the leg surgery he urgently needs. When Pooch Savers rescue saved Moses, he had an ugly, red, evil-looking ulcerated growth on his paw. "It was incredibly painful. He limped all the time," Scott B., from the rescue, tells Waggle. The group rushed Moses over to Mazie's Mission veterinary clinic, and after many tests, biopsies, X-rays, and an ultrasound, they received optimistic and bad news. The bad news: Moses had round cell cancer. It spread from his paw to lymph nodes in his leg. The optimistic news: The cancer appeared to be isolated to his limb. "It was devastating to know, even though we thought it was cancer, to have it confirmed," Scott says. The rescue group's veterinarian consulted with experts, and the best plan was surgery to amputate the dog's leg. "Moses was in so much pain, and knowing we could do the surgery, he could survive the cancer, and we can give him another chance--- we were just over the moon to hear that," Scott adds. Moses is expected to make a full recovery and will be up for adoption when he is healed up. Pooch Savers depends on donations to help save dogs like Moses and all the other pooches they take in. They can only do this with help from amazing animal lovers. "Dogs in need of medical treatment can be saved, and there's a loving home waiting for them. Donations help offset those costs and allow us to keep doing what we do," Scott says. "And Moses is an incredible dog."

Tinker Bell is an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,000 for Hardened Mammary Cyst Removal.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Meet Tinker Bell, an 8-year-old yorkie. She came to us from the Palm Valley shelter, in South Texas. She was on the euthanasia list because of the ENORMOUS growths on her underbelly. Our vet took x-rays of her chest to see if there were any signs of “spreading” - thankfully, the lungs & heart appear clear. The two hardened mammary masses are the size of fists and make up about 20% of her body weight, which is all of 9 lbs! She is another one that has obviously been SEVERELY neglected; these growths didn’t get this big overnight. Our moto at Pooch Savers is "Every dog deserves a second chance." She needs surgery to remove the growths, at which time she will be spayed and microchipped. Tinker Bell is full of life and very sweet and we anticipate a full, long, healthy, and happy life following surgery.

Maggie is a 7-year-old Jack Russel/Italian Greyhound in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,000 for exploratory surgery, possible hernia, dew claw removal and spay.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Meet Maggie, a 7 y/o Jack Russell/Italian Greyhound mix. She was on the euthanasia list at the Saginaw TX shelter. She had been found as a stray and was in HORRIBLE shape, absolutely filthy, had incredibly long nails, looked like they had never in her life been cut, she was skinny and she has a plum sized lump hanging from her belly. She was shivering with fright, and obviously, she had not been well taken care of. Maggie needs exploratory surgery on the mass (the vet thinks it's a hernia, but won't know until surgery), dew claw removal, and to be spayed. Our moto at Pooch Savers is "Every dog deserves a second chance." In the few days we've had her, she has already made strides with her fearfulness. She loves to get belly rubs and really, any attention, and likes to give kisses. She will come through all this with a new chance at life!

MURPH

Murph is a two-year-old Brittany Spaniel Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,900 for a blood transfusion and emergency surgery.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

When the rescuers at Pooch Savers saw Murph suffering in a South Texas shelter, they bolted into action. The Brittany Spaniel mix's leg was mangled, infected, and sadly needed to be amputated immediately. "The wound was so infected and so bad it exposed the bone," Scott B. with the rescue tells Waggle. "We were petrified." The shelter didn't give Pooch Savers Rescue a lot of information about Murph's injury. The nonprofit group had no idea the extent of medical care the dog would need when they agreed to save him, including a blood transfusion. "The shelter said Murph needed an immediate rescue, or he was at high risk for euthanasia since the shelter doesn’t have the means to take care of a dog like him," Lisa B. with the rescue tells Waggle. "Little Murph stayed strong enough to get out of the shelter and into our rescue, all the while being in excruciating pain, anemic, and he had a lot of fleas that were biting him." The rescue raced him to the Emergency Animal Hospital of Collin County West for medical care. The group wasn't banking on taking in a dog with such severe needs and is hoping donations from giving animal lovers will help them cover Murph's veterinary bills. "This was a sudden and unexpected major expense and has precluded us from rescuing other dogs with medical needs," Lisa says. "We need funds to cover the vet bill." Amazingly, though Murph is still in bad shape, he's been so good during all his procedures. "We know that he’s intelligent, happy, adaptable, and a very sweet boy. He loves affection and giving kisses. As soon as you approach him, he rolls over, so you can rub his belly. He wags his tail every time we walk in the room," Lisa adds. The rescue says Murph is special because he is a fighter and is worth every penny.

SNOOPY

SNOOPY is a 5-year-old Schnauzer in Dallas, TX, who needs $250 for training and therapy.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

We need help. We rescued this dog from craigslist. He was being given away for free. The story is that the owner’s elderly mother died. The owners couldn’t keep the dog in their apartment. The dog’s name is snoopy. I met the owners at a gas station. It was two adult males and a young boy. They had snoopy in a metal crate in the back of their SUV. When they opened the door of the SUV, snoopy was acting like Cujo. Snarling and barking and growling viciously. So I didn’t make any eye contact and just talked to the owners for a bit, then I went and sat down on the curb. They took snoopy out of the car on a leash. He was still acting like Cujo, I remained calm. Didn’t make eye contact, occasionally talked to him softly. He walked around in the grass near where I was sitting and marked his territory and started coming over to me for brief intervals and sniffing quickly and then walking away. Still growling and barking. This went on for several minutes. Then I was able to let him sniff my hand. Our interaction became more and more lengthy. I was then able to pet him a little bit. I took the leash and took him for a brief walk and again sat down on the curb away from the owners. I repeated the same thing. Not making eye contact. Talking to him softly. I had my hand on the curb where he could approach it if he wanted to, which he did. He let me pet him. Wagged his tail a little bit. I returned to the owners. Asked them about snoopy’s history. They said he'd been with their mom his entire life. He’s about 5 years old. They said if I didn’t take him, they'd have to take him to a shelter. With his behavior, he'd likely be immediately put down. So I took him. He pretty quickly did fine with me. Acted pretty much like a normal, loving dog. Little to no growling except for an occasional brief growl and when that happened, I backed off and let him have his space and he almost immediately then wagged his tail and approached me. I was able to hold him and pet him and love on him, even giving him kisses. My husband on the other hand, no way. He has acted like Cujo each time my husband even looks at him. We’ve had him about 2 weeks. Things are getting a little bit better with my husband, he's able to talk to him and snoopy doesn’t growl or snarl or bark. The other night, I was, as always, putting him in his crate for bedtime. Everything was fine. I picked him up. Loved on him. Talked to him. He was wagging his tail and licking my face just like normal, as soon as I put him in his crate, he started growling viciously. It really scared me. I don't know what happened. I couldn’t even latch the crate because I was scared he'd bite me. I waited a few minutes, standing there holding the crate door closed. When he calmed down a little bit, I latched the crate. I walked away and waited a few minutes, making him some food. When I returned to put food in his crate, he was fine. He's a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and we need some training help! We have a trainer who's already done three training sessions and it's helping tremendously!
