About

The Riedel & Cody Fund is a community of caregivers that provides support for people whose beloved pets are suffering with cancer. Our mission is to provide funding for cancer treatments to owners who would not otherwise be able to pay for their pet’s care. Generally we fund people who are disabled, retired, without family support or in the military. Animals who are funded must have a good prognosis for recovery and quality of life.

Colonel Beauregard

Colonel Beauregard — a7e500

Seattle, WA

We've been together his entire 9 years, after stumbling into each other's lives when he was only 5.5 weeks old. I rescued him after a plea was made on Craigslist from a farmer's wife whose husband was planning to drown him and his siblings in the river. He sat on my feet, and I scooped him and took him from that terrible place. His name comes from a book I was reading in college. Beauregard sleeps in the sunshine by the glass sliding doors during the day, and cuddles with me in bed at night (he's always little spoon). His favorite thing to do is hike the Washington mountains with me, and dare I bring a ball, he can fit 3 in his mouth! He's an extremely vocal boy, always telling me how he's feeling - he loves to sing! I lost my job due to Covid in December 2020, and am now trying to survive on unemployment benefits which is not much. Financial assistance would greatly help us as I cannot come up with the funds on my own. Beauregard went in for an ACL surgery on March 10th, and during pre-op examination the surgeon found an osteosarcoma in his front right wrist. The ELIAS immunotherapy procedure we have decided to go with will greatly prolong his life and give him a better quality of life. Beau has an aggressive cancer, so we must move quickly. "I want to keep you from pain, I want to cure you, I want to save you", I whispered to my precious boy. With his head gently on my knee, he looked up at me as if to say "I know, mom". Beauregard is a dog even more special & unique than his name. Everyone he meets falls in love with is soft demeanor and goofy smile. He is my protector, and now it is my turn to protect him.

Anakin

Anakin is a 12-year-old Chihuahua in Claremont, CA, who needs $3,400 for cancer treatments.

Claremont, CA

Anakin came into our lives on a visit to Barstow, Ca. We adopted him and his sister Alvie. Alvie has since passed. He has other four legged companions running around. Anakin I very dainty and his other companions are a little on the rough side so for the most part he’s on the sidelines. He loves sleeping on my sisters bed overnight! Anakin is such a little ham, he loves being carried like one cradles a baby. He mostly clings to my sister and loves her so much to the point that he looks for when not in the same room. He also likes sleeping on everyone’s bed but loves sleeping under the covers. We all get to cutting our fair share of Anakin love ❤️ I’m in financial distress due to being on fixed income. I’m receiving social security and my daughter can only provide minimal financial assistance due to loss of job because of COVID-19. Anakin was diagnosed with cancer late last year and he’s undergoing treatment with chemotherapy and will be ongoing. The pill for us not working and will need several treatments Intravenously that will hopefully work and keep him comfortable. VCA California Veterinary Specialists-Ontario Oncology department is where he’s having cancer treatment. Anakin is very cute and adorable. He grins and sneezes when he’s happy and gets excited especially when he’s getting boiled chicken. think the grin is literally a smile and that makes me smile and laugh. He loves taking pictures especially with hats and he’s very Photogenic and loves blueberries and watermelon.

Tucker

Tucker is an 8-year-old Dachshund Mix in Index, WA, who needs $2,000 for surgery to remove cancerous tumors.

Index, WA

Tucker came into my life almost 9 years ago. He was a gift from my daughter. At first I was not very happy with her for bringing a dog home. But the second I looked into those puppy dog eyes, he had me. Hook, line and sinker! I had no chance against such cuteness. He was the best gift I've ever gotten! He has been right by my side through so many hard times as well as good. He is my "happy pill" always turning my frown upside down. He just brightens our days and has been the best dog anyone could ask for. When I walk in the door he is always there to greet me, holding something in his mouth.. a squeaky toy, my sock, I never know what he will bring. This was not an easy decision - it is very expensive and will only extend his life, not cure the cancer. We are ALL as a society going through a lot right now and I know this pandemic has put a tremendous stress, financially on us all. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated It is with great sadness to tell you that my "Tucky bear" has been diagnosed with having cancerous tumors. This cancer is very aggressive and usually grows quickly After a long conversations with our Vet and our Oncologist we feel the best choice for tucky is to have surgery to remove the tumors and follow up with chemo and as he is otherwise in good health! For such a little guy he has always believed he was bigger then any other animal and never scared of anything. He shows no fear when protecting his home, his friends or his family. He even chased a momma bear and her 2 cubs away from our tent a few years ago. He is very protective of the goats too

Photo of Scout Aldridge

Scout Aldridge

Scout Aldridge is a 4-year-old German Shepard in Phoenix, AZ, who needs $4,000 for Vincristine, cyclophosphamide, doxorucibin.

Phoenix, AZ

Scout was up for adoption at the Maricopa County Animal Shelter. He was 40lbs at the time and when he came into the room he completely released his bladder onto the floor, showing me he was not walked enough. He came to me and licked me, he was so excited to see people. I took him home 3 days later. I fed him and loved him up to 77lbs!!❤️ Scout LOVES people. He licks them, comforts them. Barks at us when he wants something. We taught him to speak and now he yells at us, it's very funny. He loves to cuddle me on the bed and always has to be near me. He's my buddy. We've always been so connected, I feel as if he is my familiar. He always knows when I'm sad or upset and is right there to love on mama. My boyfriend and I are both mentally ill. I also have chronic pain. I receive disability payments, but due to unfortunate events I have been overdrafted for two months and at risk of losing my home. My boyfriend is struggling with his mental illness so badly he can't work. Scout was snoring very loudly for about a week. I then took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with lymphoma. I was told not to see an oncologist because it is expensive, but I wanted him to survive and thrive. So I took him to Arizona Veterinary Oncology where he currently receives treatment. His vet's name is Dr. Lynda Beaver. Scout loves me sooooo much. And I love him just as much. I've never felt so much love from a dog. Now I know why people love dogs so much! Scout loves to talk back to me, and he will refuse to go on a walk until I go! It's so cute. I have depression and sometimes I can't even get out of bed, but he forces me to be active. I'm very grateful.

Phoenix

Phoenix is a 11-year-old Mixed lab shepherd in Scottsdale , AZ, who needs $2,300 for Pallative Radiation.

Scottsdale, AZ

Phoenix came into my life in 2009, as a rescue. He was abandoned in an industrial area and we’ve been together ever since. He had a sister, Mesa, as seen in the video. We lost her to congestive heart failure in December of 2019. Neither of us has recovered from this loss. Mesa and Phoenix are like my children. I named them after cities in Arizona before we moved from Ohio to Arizona. Phoenix sleeps in the bed and enjoys resting his head on our pillow. He is my family. We reside alone with my cat Buddy, that I inherited when my father passed away. Phoenix loves cooked chicken and hamburger, which he’s getting more of lately. He still enjoys his walks everyday and squeaking his tennis balls. My income is barely enough to pay rent and bills. I’ve also not recovered financially from treating my other dog, Mesa for her congestive heart failure. I’m not able to get a loan to pay for treatment. I’m hoping to help Phoenix continue to have a good quality of life. Phoenix was diagnosed with oral osteosarcoma in November 2020. It took some time to get him into the oncologist due to appointment wait time. They offer a palliative radiation treatment that they say will assist with symptoms and pain. He was seen by Dr. Boshoven at Arizona Veterinary Oncology in Gilbert, AZ. His primary vet is DR Hessian, in Fountain Hills. Phoenix misses his sister Mesa, although they were so different. He has a love hate relationship with Buddy the cat, simply because he doesn’t want to share my attention. He is a social dog but protective of his mom. He loves to swim. He’s been my best friend for eleven years. He loves his stuffed toys and tennis balls.

Oliver

Oliver is a 10-year-old Border Collie/Lab Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,000 for chemo treatment.

Dallas, TX

I got Oliver as a puppy from the Collin County Humane Society. He was a very sick and neglected puppy as his litter was finally released to the Humane Society since they were mutts while the rest of the dogs in this family were Border Collies. Living despicable conditions Oliver came to me with Giardia, every kind of worm and Sarcoptic Mange which I contracted from him. Oliver had been with me for 10 years and it has been just the two of us the entire time. I am single with no children so far so Oliver has been my child. I take him everywhere as Dallas is a dog friendly city. He has gone to the park across the street to play with his friends everyday of his life. Oliver is definitely a Momma’s boy and follows me everywhere. I am single so I pay for everything myself. I work on commission and because of the pandemic I have barely made any money this year and don’t know when I get paid again. I will do anything to fight this terrible and unfair disease as Oliver is my everything. Oliver was diagnosed August 18, 2020 with Osteosarcoma in his left ulna. Luckily he was able to have leg sparing surgery to remove the tumor and is also a participant in the Yale Vaccine Trial. Medvet performed his surgery and treating his cancer. His oncologist is Dr. Bobbi McQuowan. He has had three chemo treatments and is to have three more. Oliver is extremely close with my parents and my sister. He cries, run and jumps on them every time he see them, which is a lot. He is the smartest dog I have ever seen and I am told that quite often. His knowledge and actions amaze me everyday. My family and I call him Rainman because he has to have the same schedule everyday and he does not like change. He cries if anything is out of place.

Jake

Jake — 524f09

Cedar Hill, TX

4 years ago I came across a local pet rescue that had the cutest 8-week old puppy available for adoption. That very day I called the shelter and went to meet him. At the moment of our very first interaction I knew we would be best friends. The rescue had named him Jake, and although I tried to change his name several times, Jake just fit his personality so it became permanent. After the first couple of years living in an apartment, I got a house for Jake to enjoy a back yard, which he uses daily to chase squirrels and take naps in the sunshine. We are also a mile from a natural preserve which is Jake's favorite place to hike. Camping, chasing his ball and frisbee and treats are some of Jake's most favorite hobbies. I'm in need of help because like so many people I lost my job due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Chemo treatment is expensive and difficult to come up with so quickly while not working. Words can't possibly describe my gratitude for any help saving my best friend. Last week I noticed Jake wasn't feeling himself so I took him to see his vet. Unfortunately, I received a diagnosis that every pet owner dreads - lymphoma. His oncologist at Animal Diagnostic Clinic recommends him going through 20 weeks of chemotherapy to enter into remission and prolong his life 1-1.5 years. The saying that your rescue dog is actually the one who rescued you is an understatement. From the moment I brought 8-week-old Jake home, we have been inseparable. He really has become my very best friend. Every day I find myself having conversations with me as if he knows what I'm talking about. Although he doesn't respond verbally, his looks and personality make it seem like he does.

Rosco — 375d45

Raleigh, NC

Rosco was a random and unexplained blessing. I was in high school and one day after school I came home to this giant blob of a puppy running around in my yard. He was alone with no one else in sight. We spent a while searching for an owner; with no success we decided to take him in as our own. It has been nothing but love ever since. Rosco is the staple piece that our family never knew we needed. He is the life of the party. He has is sassy side too. The shape he has taken within our family dynamic is something I cannot imagine living without. For me personally he has been a crutch through many difficult circumstances. From the age of 15 to now 25, he has been a part of my life through the such an influential time period. Rosco is my best friend, my confidant, my beach buddy (our favorite place), late night scary movie pal..my ride or die. The treatments are $7000+. No payments plans are available. Its something I don't have the capacity to provide in the short time it is needed. Rosco has always been happy and healthy. One day a knot randomly popped up on his forehead and it did not recede. After taking him to his vet, and multiple specialists following, he was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma. It is inoperable and incurable. We are trying to proceed with radiation and chemotherapy at VHS in Cary, NC but it is too expensive with no financing options available. You always know when Rosco wants something because he is never too shy to let you know. He has this funny way of pawing at you whenever he wants attention. He always approaches you with his booty in your face because that is is favorite scratches. He is an awful workout partner. Beware if you lay on the floor near him because he will be on top of you in seconds. The list goes on...

He gets along great with my rescue lab mix Thenabean Samson loves to sleep at the side of my bed, unless the wood stove is going of course. He loves playing ball or his own version of soccer with 4 paws, but his favorite either tug or a game we call toro. Where he grabs his blanket and just starts swinging it around covering his head, myself and any one else. Not to mention the big ole hugs he loves to give me I am on a really tight fixed income due to me being on worksmans compensation after just having major spinal surgery thats related to and accident from 2017. Right now i am getting around with a walker & the help of Samson. Physical therapy will last approx 6-9 months min Samson was just diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his left ankle and the xrays are already showing signs of the bone breaking down. There recommendation ( 2 vet opinions) is amputation ( as the leg is already swelling when he walks to much ) and then chemo and another treatment. His dr's is Dr.Bladek @Newton Veterinary Hospital His favorite treat is freeze dried chicken strips by far. He loves the snow ( what rottie doesn't) he'll sit in it for hrs then bury his ace in it like a snowman. But his favorite is watching the butterflies/ bees in the spring and every now and then you can catch him barking at the hummingbirds as they dart from flower to flower. He has been my rock since I broke my back in 2017 &surgery 2wks ago

CHARLOTTE, NC

We have had Alfalfa for 10 years. We got him from a rescue organization when he was just a puppy. He and his fellow litter mates had been rescued from a hording situation. Alfalfa has moved about the country with us multiple times. Now my husband, Alfalfa, and our cat, Keeska, all live happily together in our home in Charlotte, NC. Alfalfa loves to go on walks. He can walk forever, and he's always excited to meet friends, both furry and not, on the trails. At home, he enjoys sleeping away the afternoons and occasionally indulging the cat in a round of playtime. He loves both of his parents, but he's definitely a Daddy's boy. My husband and I have both been unemployed since May and currently have no income coming in. We just want our baby boy to be able to live his life to the fullest. It would be so great for him to go on his walks again and to know that he is living a long and healthy life. Alfalfa was diagnosed with cancer, a soft tissue sarcoma on his hind leg. He had surgery to remove it at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Huntersville, NC. Soon he will start radiation treatment so that it does not regrow. His radiation oncologist is Dr. Kelsey at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews, NC. Alfalfa is the friendliest dog. He loves people, and he will talk to anyone who passes by to make sure he gets their attention. He grew up with cats and has a lot of cat like behaviors. He uses his paws way more than the average dog and he has a tendency to purr when you pet him. Alfalfa hates thunder and fireworks, but he loves carrots and broccoli.

Niko — b45b02

Munhall, PA

My 6 year old son was devastated after he lost his best friend Laura at only 4 years old. All he wanted for Christmas was a new puppy. Christmas morning arrived and in the middle of our living room floor was a small round box. AJ was so excited as he opened it to find that Santa left a tiny 7 week, little Golden retriever named Niko after one of his reindeers. Niko was a gift for our whole family. Niko is one of the best dogs we have ever owned. He’ll greet you at the door and still greet you 2 hours later. He loves company. If you try to leave he will grab onto whatever you have and hold you back so you can’t leave and stay to scratch his chin. Niko loves to go on daily walks with his family and takes and play with all his toys in his yard. He definitely rules the roost and is my 3rd baby. Due to COVID my husband & I were laid off for months. My husband just recently returned to work & we are trying to catch up on bills. I run a day care in a public school building which hasn’t opened yet therefore I haven’t returned to work yet. This surgery will set us back. Niko has always been a happy bouncy dog. Recently he started coughing and coughed up some blood clots which scared us all. After a vet visit thinking he had a lung torsion we headed to the emergency vet thinking he needed emergency surgery. They did some tests and found that he had a tumor in his lung. A pulmonary carcinoma. They believe it’s one that is operable which would save his life. Niko is always making us laugh and keeping us on our toes. He’s a very needy dog who loves and craves your attention. Whether it’s grabbing whatever he can to “Scratch my chin”, where he will sit until your arm falls off from scratching his chin and as soon as you stop he’ll flip his head under your arm to start all over again. Niko lives his 2 best friends Aj age 14 and Grace age 10.

Cabela was for sale in the local newspaper and when I went to visit with her, she immediately jumped into my arms. I knew instantly that she chose me to be her mommy. She has been a huge part of my life for the past 6 years. We have 2 cats at home as well and she loves to play with them both. Cabela was named after the sporting/outdoors store, Cabela's. Cabela loves to go for walks in the orchard, rides in the car, eat strawberry ice cream, and to play with her best dog pal, Lilly (my sister's dog). She is most at peace when sitting in my arms and will fall asleep on my chest. During the day, she stays in her crate and will put herself in there without prompting. At night, she sleeps between my husband and I. Financial assist was provided for the first bout of chemo from family, but will not be able to receive assist for the rescue chemo that she needs. I was pregnant at the time of diagnosis and now have a 4 mo. old to financially support. Cabela has so much life left in her. Cabela was diagnosed with lymphoma in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic which made it extremely difficult to find oncology care. Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center was willing to take her on as a patient to provide chemotherapy treatments to her. Dr. Case has provided her with excellent care and remission was achieved. We received news early this week that she be relapsing. Cabela has a stuffed donkey that is her favorite toy and loves to chew on nylabones. She loves to open presents for birthdays and Christmas. She has separation anxiety when people she loves tries to leave but will greet you with lots of tail wags and kisses. Cabela has the sweetest eyes, softest kisses and is the best snuggler. She always knows how to cheer me up when I have had a bad day,

Alfie is a golden retriever. He was born on April, 29 2014. He is six years old and weighs 74 lbs. Alfie came into my life when he was four months old. I saw his picture online and fell in love with him immediately. I got him from a breeder in a small Pennsylvania town called Bird In Hand. I drove six hours from RI to PA to get him. Alfie is part of my family. He is incredibly smart, gentle, curious and has a unique personality. He loves unsalted saltine crackers, takes his dinosaur toy everywhere, loves car rides, swimming and ear scratches. He is energetic, playful and continues to show unconditional love, putting a smile to anyone around him. I am currently attending an accelerated dental hygiene program at CCRI and lost my job at T-mobile because I was unable to meet their hours of operation due to my devotion to this program. I am currently looking for a job to cover my living expenses and Alfie's medical bills. Alfie recently had a fibrosarcoma tumor on his neck removed. My brave boy made a smooth recovery. However, two weeks later and he has developed yet another tumor, this time on his nose. The Vet performed a cat scan and a biopsy and determined this nasal tumor beginning to erode the bone. Their recommendation to control this fibrosarcoma is performing 5 sessions of radiation therapy. Alfie is definitely a character, he follows me everywhere I go, he wakes me up in the morning talking to me with his doggy language to take him out and give him some unsalted saltine crackers. When there is thunder, he jumps under my covers next to me and closes his eyes, knowing that I am there to protect him.

My husband Rollin and I are both healthcare workers in the Texas Medical Center. We both have major student loan payments every month and it has been difficult to manage Archie's cancer workup with our other financial obligations. Any help would be appreciated! Archie is the sweetest 10 month old goldendoodle who was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma this month by Dr. Katie Stroda at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. Even though it's been a rough two months for him since the onset of his symptoms to his diagnosis, he still has the best spirit and continues to play, cuddle and fetch to the best of his ability! Bella came into our lives at two weeks old when we volunteered to rescue her mother and 6 siblings. We immediately fell in love with all of them but Bella touched our hearts in a very special way. She has been with us 11 years and has genuinely meant more to the family than we could have ever expected. Bella has 2 siblings/playmates (Remi & Mabel) that always keep her active and full of energy. Bella lives in a rural area with plenty of room to walk, explore, and take in all the smells. She enjoys nothing more than long walks around the lake where she loves to talk to the geese. In addition, she also has a large fenced in backyard where she and her sisters play daily. Bella is an inside dog with several dog beds and even human beds for her to sleep/rest on and cuddle with her people. Hoping to get help with Bella's med fees as I've used a good portion of savings on her prior surgeries/treatments. I've been a single Mom for 10 years now, currently out of work and repaying son's college tuition. Bella is so full of love & energy- just want this cancer gone Bella was diagnosed with a low grade soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in January of 2020. She has had 2 surgeries with incomplete excisions. The tumor has grown back locally again and the treatment plan this time includes 3-4 weeks of radiation therapy. Radiation therapy for STS's have proven to be highly successful with a 90% success rate. Dr. Bortell (309)662-3633 / U of I Animal Hospital (217)333-5300 Bella has no trouble making friends and her best friend is the chocolate lab next door named Coco. Ella — 08ee40

La Mesa, CA

Ella, also known as Bella, was born in Tijuana last October (2019). We adopted her in January and she’s taken over the house. Ella has an older brother, Miko, that she loves to torment and an older sister, Rosie, that feels her little shadow pestering her every moment. They absolutely love each other and have created a firm bond. Ella pretends to fall asleep next to you, then slinks her way closer and closer until she’s snuggling incognito. She’s such an independent spirit, until it’s bedtime, then she requires a little lift into the bed to sleep with us. The older dogs look to her to get treats and extra food; she’s got a knack for begging. We’ve already spent over $2,000 just on her diagnosis. After buying our house in December 2019, all of our money went to that. I’m currently unemployed attempting to get back on my feet, but it hasn’t been easy. We don’t want money as the reason Ella doesn’t get proper care. Ella has a small sore on her ear that was nagging and wouldn’t heal, so we took her to VCA Grossmont. Dr Avon did cytology and determined it to be Mast Cell Carcinoma. We were referred to Pet Emergency & Specialty Clinic where her oncologist, Dr Benz, completed a CT of her abdomen, chest x-ray, and FNA of her lymph nodes. She had elevated mast cells in one lymph node, otherwise okay. Miss Ella sounds like Chewbacca when she’s playing. It’s like she’s having a full conversation with who never is in front of her. Even Rosie and Miko look at us for translation. Ella has learned the art of the head tilt. She hears anything out of the ordinary and she’s the first to tilt her head, then move towards the questionable sound. She’s a leader in our house.

Petit — 29d30e

Los Angeles, CA

Petit and I have been housemate since he was a kitten, more than 17 years in all. Until January, there were two kitties, Tommy and Petit. But Tommy got ill and left us in January, so it is just me and Petit now. The best thing about working from home during COVID quarantine has been to spend nearly every hour of every day with my Petit. Petit is my daily alarm, about 7 am, when his meow tells me he wants breakfast. After our breakfast, we nap a bit, until we get up, eat a bit more, and then it's time for work. During which time, he lets me know when it is time for snacks or perhaps a snuggle. I sing Petit songs. There is a whole repertoire. I work for a newspaper, and for about three months this year, I and my colleagues were furloughed one day per week. This radiation treatment would allow Petit and me more quality time together -- which would be, quite literally, priceless. In the last couple of weeks, Petit was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. His home vet, Dr. Kristin Reinkei, is at Mohawk Alley Animal Hospital; his main oncologist, Dr. Turner, is at the Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital; and his radiology oncologist, Dr. Jacovino, is at VCA West LA Animal Hospital -- all in Los Angeles. Petit makes everyone smile and laugh. He is a beautiful kitty, and he likes everyone. He loves to eat as much as anyone I have ever seen eat. I enjoy watching him eat more than I do eat myself. And he loves his catnip ball, which he sometimes licks for half an hour straight. And he loves his belly rubbed, a lot. Petit never gets enough petting. Sometimes an hour or two at a stretch.

Troy is a 11-year-old Pit Bull Mix in New Britain , CT, who needs $2,000 for Mass Excision.

New Britain, CT

In 2017 I rescued Troy from a shelter where he had need there for 783 days. The day I met him he became my world and I have spent every day since showing him how special and loved he is. Troy lives with myself and my two children. My children adore him and nothing makes them happier than walking in the door and seeing Troys stub wagging like crazy. Troy has truly made our house a home. Troy is the king of the castle. Troy sleeps every night in my bed covered in his soft blankets. Troy loves cuddling on the couch with his brother and sister and watching movies. He loves playing tug o war with his brother and basking outside in the sun. Troy just loves having people around him knowing that he is safe and loved. I had to change positions at my job due to my own health condition and lost all my overtime. Expenses became more with Covid. Troy saved me, he is my world. He means everything to me and I can’t imagine my life without him. He saved me please help me save him. Troy was suffering from a stomach bug. I brought him to our vet. Dr. Dupre at Manchester Veterinary Clinic. While there I asked her to look at a larger mass I found on his neck. Dr. Dupre immediately got me onto Dr. Okeefe at New English Veterinary Center and Cancer Care. After an exam, xrays, ultrasound and Ct Scan Troy was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. I have never seen a dog that doesn’t wanna take a bath but will eat at the water as it comes out of the shower. Every morning Troy barks at the shower as he wants me to turn it on so he can eat the water. He won’t stop barking till I do this it is beyond adorable. Troy does this hoping prance walk when he has to go to the bathroom. He has so many quirky characteristics.

Xerxes — cf6759

Ambridge, PA

I received Xerxes as a gift for Christmas back in 2013 after my dog Xena passed away. We’ve always lived alone, and when I was at work he would go to my mothers house for the day and be with his two sisters Molly and Callie. We all just recently moved to a new area so things remain the same with daily play dates with his sisters. Callie is actually from the same parents just different litter. Everyone loves Xerxes wether it’s family or strangers. He sleeps all over the house but his favorite place is in the bed. When he takes his daily trips to his sisters house they’re usually running around the yard endlessly, but once tired they all squeeze up on the couch with my mother and rest. Xerk was diagnosed with lymphoma in early spring. I have an entry level job that barely pays my expenses and to date I have paid over $7000 for his treatment. At this point, I used all of my savings and have borrowed over $5000 from family. Diagnosis: Stage IVb B cell (medium cell size, high class II MHC) Lymphoma- PR/nCR post Elspar/pred - SD post vinc, mild PD post Cytoxan, CR post Adriamycin - OR on 8/18/20 - CR post Elspar/pred/metformin, PD post CCNU, PD 9/18/20 post Elspar/dex, improve post Cytosar - SD to slight PD He’s been going thru treatment and doing well. He loves going to the dog park after I get home from work and seeing all his friends and running around. He also love to play fetch, although his way of playing is standing at the top of a hill and dropping the ball making it roll to me and then I kick it down the dog park, he’ll retrieve it then back to the top of the hill again. His favorite song is “everybody dance now”.

Finley — d37261

Spokane, WA

Finley is a family dog who has been passed between family members. He was originally a birthday present for my older sister. She moved into a home where she could not take him so, my mother kept him. I then moved home after college and took over his care. He is a rescue from the Humane Society and we love having him in our home! Finley is a great pet! He is very anxious so, he does not do walks or activities outside of the house very well. He loves to be outside exploring the backyard and basking in the sun. Finley loves car ride where he can hang his head out of the window and feel the breeze. He is very quirky. An example is he is afraid of sneezes. He loves attention and asks for pets by pawing or licking you hand. I work an hourly minimum wage job. I am approved to work 40 hours a week but, because I have to care for Finley and transport him I fear that 40 hours won't be achievable. I have already a lot of credit care space on his previous care and do not have much more to spare. Finley was diagnosed with Right anal sac adenocarcinoma in July of 2020. We have gone through consultations, tests, and two surgeries for his care so far. Thankfully, we caught it early. The tumor was small and only one swollen lymph node needed to be removed. Now, we are seeking radiation treatment with WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Hopefully we will also do Chemotherapy after. Finley is a quirky and funny dog. He makes me laugh and smile almost everyday with his silly antics. Sometimes he runs so fast he slips around on the wood floor. He has even accidentally run into things because he is running so fast! He also makes me feel loved because he likes to cuddle. It is so nice to have him around to boost my moods!

The first time I saw Walle, I knew immediately that we were meant for each other. He was very playful and his eyes captivated me. Throughout the years (11 ½ years) his love has filled my like with so much joy. During hard times and illnesses, he has been my faithful companion. It is so heartbreaking to see him in pain. He is my world and I would do anything for him to get the needed care. Walle has a unique character. He is the best to cuttle with. People can’t believe when I tell them that Walle can laugh when I tickle him. I also tell people that he is trilingual as he understands English, Spanish, and Spanglish. It’s unbelievable how much we communicate without saying anything, just be looking into his eyes I can always know what he is feeling and want. My income is very limited. I survive on my disability income and nothing else. I applied for CareCredit, but was denied. Walle has been on prescription medications (Previcox, Lactulose, prazosin, and galliprant). My one and only wish is for him to get better. I June 2020, he was diagnosed with prostatic carcinoma. He was neutered before the age of two. I was informed that a he had an enlarged prostatic and needed additional exams. I was referred to a vet specialist hospital were I was informed that the initial exams would cost $1400.00. I was devastated as I do not have that amount of money. My income is from disability and it is difficult. Walle is such a character, he loves to feel clean and to smell good, but hates showers. Ever since he was a puppy, I wash his paws and privates each time after he comes back inside the house from doing his necessities outside. He expects for his paws and probates to be cleaned immediately and when I don’t get it done fast enough, he gives me a look as telling me “hey, I’m back woman” so funny.

GG came into my life 11 years ago! She was an energetic lovely little girl who has always been excited to run on the beach and chase birds! I got her when I was attending classes in Seattle WA. My dear girl Gypsy Gal (GG) is an English Setter. I grew up with English Setter’s and have a special relationship with them which holds special connection with my Dad who passed away several years ago. GG is my heart and has been my own ’therapy’ girl/dog for 11 years. She has always been in excellent health and has been with me through thick and thin. My own story involves being diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2017 - where I went through extensive treatment, and now and doing well but continue to be monitored closely. We both have been there through so much together. My husband lost his job due to Covid, and has not yet been able to return to work. I’m on disability given chemo/cancer treatments etc. We are in debt for the past treatments (surgery, CT scans, biopsies, bloodwork, etc.) GG is otherwise very healthy, and deserves life! GG was diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth last July time frame during a dental cleaning check up. She was referred to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists where the Dr.’s evaluated her and recommended various options for treatment. Surgery was performed (we thought successfully and margins clear), however her SCC has now returned and radiation treatment is now being recommended. GG is the most special sweet girl in the world. I know we all feel that about our fur babies! She is afraid of thunder and will suddenly and often unexpectedly surprise me by jumping up into my lap (she is NOT a lap sized dog!) when a storm is brewing! She is very submissive but sneaks up on the bed when her Daddy is not at home! She loves to sleep on 'soft' cushy places in our home!

Jacksonville, FL

Archie is the love of my life and the very best part of my day, week, month. I cannot wait to come home to him every day. When I went to meet Archie, I instantly started crying because I knew he was my furbaby and we would be bonded forever. Even as a fulltime student, I have made every sacrifice to make sure my baby is healthy and safe. He is so loved to the point that he gets home cooked meals. Archie is truly my protector but all the while is such a sweet, gentle giant. The first night I rescued him we were walking late at night and just as a stranger walked down the street in the distance, Archie grew about 3 inches and was on the defense. That evening as I sat on the couch he put his head in my lap and just stared at me as if he was thanking me for saving him and making him my family. I am a full time medical student who is at the start of her 3rd year (out of 4). I am already in debt and I live off my student loans. As a future physician, I have always believed everyone should have access to care, Archie should not be excluded in this. Archie went in for some simple diarrhea on 08/05/20 where a pea sized mass was felt on his right anal gland. On 08/21/20 he was diagnosed with Apocrine gland adenocarcinoma of the anal sac. Since we caught it very early, his prognosis is excellent with chemo and radiation. He is being treated by Dr. Neumann at SEVO med in Jacksonville, FL. Although chemo is difficult, Archie still loves intensely. Archie comes from a very abused background. He was left to starve to death until the neighbors cut him out of a cage. He was less than half his ideal weight we he was first taken in. However, this has not stopped my baby from being a solid 110 lbs now. He is certainly a foodie like his momma. He loves milk bone treats and when he is excited he can only hop up about 2 inches in sheer joy to get one

Tesla — 928a4f

YORKTOWN, IN

Hello, I rescued my dog, Tesla, in August 2011 when she was four months old. The rescue, ARF, is near where I live in Indiana. The rescue found Tesla running loose downtown with another dog. She is a part of my family which includes my boyfriend, daughter, grand baby, mom, brother, and nephew. Tesla lives with me. She is my baby. We love her very much. The thought of losing her is devastating. A typical day begins with Tesla sleeping in her bed which is next to my bed. She loves to spend time in my back yard which is fenced. One of Tesla's favorite things to do is go to the park near my home. We go there to walk. In the evenings she likes to snuggle and get belly rubs. Around 11pm, Tesla will ask to go out to potty. When she comes in, she reminds me if her bedtime treat isn't ready! In March when the virus shut down businesses, I lost my job. The cost of surgeries, exams, and testing totals $4,941.23. I am in desperate need of assistance to pay these expenses. This surgery will save Tesla's life. Please help me save my baby. She has many years left! This summer Tesla developed a large mass on her stomach. We went to see our vet at the Animal Medical Center. The vet said she thought the mass was a fatty tumor and scheduled surgery. After the surgery, the tissue was sent to a lab where they determined Tesla has Sarcoma (cancer). Tesla was then seen by an oncologist at VCA who recommended another surgery to remove a part of the intestinal wall. Tesla is very smart. She loves to play with toys like Kongs. She works to get her treats by solving a puzzle. She will pickup the toy and drop it on the floor or roll it around the house to get her treats out ot them. Her tail wags the whole time she's playing. She loves to watch squirrels. At the park, she will sit near a tree to watch the squirrels play. She likes to see her friends there too!

Mina — 12afe9

Los Angeles, CA

Mina came from Sante D'Or rescue in Glendale as a kitten and has been a wonderful surprise in our lives. We don't know her origin story but she has always been slow to trust. She has a gentle nature and quiet, ladylike ways, like a porcelain figurine. Paul has been her devoted guardian since 2005 and she developed a new and different relationship with Sara in 2014 when she joined the family. She's obedient for Paul since he's taken care of her for years and gave her a reliable, loving furever home. When she returned from surgery, the scent of his t-shirt in her crate calmed her immediately. Sara got to know her more slowly, paying attention to her nuances. That's how Mina developed a different communication style with Sara of special meows, eye blinks, and other non-verbals. The application only allows up to $5k but we've spent more than that on the diagnosis. With surgery it's over $12k. Her chemo this week and additional ongoing costs will incur. We've opened two credit cards to meet her medical needs. Bills in LA are double the US average. In Aug., Mina was lethargic, not her usual talkative self, and had tummy trouble. Many tests and exams indicated intestinal round cell tumor of an undetermined type. But she was hearty and cleared for surgery, the recommendation for definitive diagnosis and the best chance to remove and treat her illness. Dr. Pierro and Dr Cabrera at MASH are her oncologist and surgeon, respectively. 855-350-7387. Mina's days are full, varied, and reliable. She sits in a window by the bird feeder at 10 am, waits for Paul at the door 5 minutes before he comes home, and patrols the house one last time when Sara gets in bed. If her routine is out of place, it's a sign that something is off. These were early clues that she was sick. We love to see her nap in the sun and the sound of her trills when she's happy.

Whiskey — d820c3

Brooklyn, OH

For those who don't know this precious angel, this is Whiskey. She is our beautiful baby girl who has breast cancer. Her life started at the Cleveland APL, where our old roommate adopted her. The APL was unsure if she has ever been spayed, she had a scar on her lower abdomen. They said if you see signs of heat please bring her back and they’ll spayed her. Of course she was never brought back in. Because we thought she was spayed this whole time we were always told if there are parts of the uterus left it’ll make them go into heat without actually going into it. It wasn't until she had a terrible infection, that antibiotics couldn't clear up that Whiskey had to have her first surgery, which was exploratory and become a hysterectomy and lumpectomy. Whiskey is our only little pride and joy in our lives. She is our emotional support when we’ve had tough weeks. We are not ready to lose her and will do everything we have to do to save her. After this surgery she will need a LT side total mastectomy and possible chemo depending on what her biopsy says after the first mastectomy. This is where we need help. Scott and I both work multiple jobs, while I am a full-time nursing student, to make ends meet. These treatments/surgeries are going to be a struggle for us. If you can give anything at all, even just $5 it will go a long way. 6 months later our poor girl had to go in for a second lumpectomy on new lumps that had formed. We decided there has to be more than our poor girl going into surgeries every 6 months for tumors. We decided to get a second opinion. And now we are where we are. Whiskey needs a full mastectomy on her right side.

Tacoma, WA

Matilda started her life as a bait dog in a fighting ring in California. After she was rescued, she was moved from a kill shelter to a pit rescue in Tacoma, WA where we met. It was love at first sight and we've been together ever since. Matilda is my best friend and I can't imagine living without her. 'Tilda hops into bed with me in the morning, cuddles for a minute and then asks to be let out to chase a squirrel or raccoon away from our chickens. Then it's a three mile walk around the neighborhood before breakfast. After a walk she's always happy to spend the day curled up on her favorite chair while I work. When I return she's always there to greet me with the wiggliest butt ever. Just like many people, I have been affected by the global pandemic. I was forced to close the fledgling business I started last year and have taken a temporary job that ends next month. I don't know what we're going to do. On August 11th of this year Matilda was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a tumor growing in the bones of her ribcage. Our vet has told us that surgery is the only option, but that if we can afford to do the surgery, the prognosis is very good. They think she will make a full recovery if we can remove the tumor soon. Matilda loves people more than anything. She is always happy to greet a visitor and after a quick intro bark just wants to wag and sniff and get pets. She is an 85 pound lap dog and though she can't jump well because of her knees, she'll climb right on top of you, lay down and expect belly rubs. But watch out for that tail! When she wags it's powerful!

He loves it here, he is given a lot of treats and he has his own bed as well as being able to go in the backyard just in case nobody is home and he wants to relax outside. Chewie sleeps in a bed we got for him since his other bed was too small for him. He also tells us whenever he wants to go for a walk or when he wants to go in the backyard. He loves to follow us around the house to keep us company as well as he loves to play with his toys. He is very excited whenever any of us comes home even if there are others home already We did not forsee him needing radiation and radiation is upwards to 10,000 dollars. We cannot afford 10,000 all on our own. We need help and we can pay a little of it ourselves Chewie currently has underwent surgery to remove tumors from his chest. It is cancerous but it does not spread and he is active even when he had the tumors. He received surgery and he visits the doctor every week just to check up on him and monitor him in case there's anything wrong. He has been very well throughout, but to remove the smaller tumors in his body he needs to undergo radiation. Chewie is a very expressive dog, He is afraid of thunder but loves every kind of weather. When he wakes up he is so happy and ready to get the day started. He is always rewarded a treat for going outside as well as he is just so easy to communicate with. She's gone to a lot family trips like Arizona and mexico, etc. She's a happy dog especially when it comes to going on walks. We'd had a lot of funny memories such as dressing her up in bows and customs She likes to sleep in warm spots like on the bed or she goes under blankets or on a pile of stuff animals, sometimes she looks like the stuff animals. She understands when we call her name. She knows when we are going to go on walks when she hears the chain of her leash. She likes treats. She likes to go let people pet her and sometimes cry when she wants to me petted. I lost my job due to Covid, but i had gotten another job soon later they weren't taking care of their employees so i decided to leave. It would mean everything to me seeing my furry friend get better and hopefully go to the beach soon seeing her run around. This isn't an easy possess seeing her a bit down. She have Lumpectomies on her stomach and is need of surgery. We are hoping after surgery everything will go back to normal. Lola might need to do two different surgery in this case since she has bumps on both side of her stomach. The vet we are taking her currently is Abbey's pet hospital. She doesn't really like other dogs unless their puppies. She likes the sand when we go to the beach. She likes to bark at the mail man. She's a heavy sleeper when it comes to thunder. i think it's funny when i give her a treat and after she starts sniffing my hand to see if i have more. Hi everyone. My name is Denise and my dog's name is Stella. Stella is sweet, spunky, and full of life dog. I've taken care of her since she was a puppy, She is now 12 years old. She is my everything. Stella is my best friend, service dog, and companion. We live together in little apartment in St. Louis Park, MN. Stella has cancer in her spleen, but she is still full of happiness! I love her!!!!!! Stella lives with me in our apartment. She is very happy, excited and playful when interacting with family and friends. She loves her toys and likes to go outside for walks. She also acts as my service dog and calms me down when I am having an anxiety or asthma attack. She loves to meet new people and other dogs. She is especially attached to me and my PCA, Ashli. She like to give hugs and kisses I am sad because I do not have the funds to pay for Stella's chemo treatment. I am unable to work and on social security disability, food assistance, and medical assistance. I want to prolong Stella's life and have more time with her. I am doing everything I can to help her A short time ago I brought Stella into the vet for some lumps she had. One lump on her chest turned out to be cancerous. It was removed. The vet then did an ultrasound to see if the cancer spread to her organs. At the beginning of September I received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to her spleen. Stella has 3 months to live without chemo and 6 months to live with chemo. So sad. Stella is special because she can sense other people's anxiety and stress and has the ability to calm them down and relax them. She can sense if there is danger or if someone needs help. Also, she make me smile and laugh when she tried to talk back to people. She also likes giving a lot of hugs and kisses. She loves her stuffed animal toys and treats them as if they were her babies, she loves them

Magnolia — 77350b

Carrboro, NC

Magnolia (Maggie) was born in Louisiana. I named her after the tree because her fur is the same color as it's flowers. I got her when she was 8 weeks old. We moved to NC when she was 1.5 years old and we've lived here ever since. Jason entered our lives 1.5 years ago. She quickly accepted him as family. She follows him around, waiting to play or cuddle, and begging him to share the peanut butter. Maggie is very energetic and active. People often think she's much younger than she is! She loves playing fetch, even though she can't see the ball as well anymore. We go on long, hilly hikes every weekend. Whenever we take a break, she barks to encourage us to keep going! She loves the outdoors and is happiest out in nature. Maggie sleeps with us every night and cuddles between us for warmth. I lost my job because of the pandemic and I can't pay for Maggie's veterinary care on my own. It would mean the world to me for Maggie to be able to live the rest of her life in comfort. I can't stand the prospect of her cancer continuing to grow and slowly crippling her. Maggie has pheochromocytoma, a rare cancer in adrenal glands. It started in her right adrenal gland, invaded her vena cava, and seems to have spread to her left adrenal gland and a nodule in her lung. She's fainted 3 times, drinks and pants excessively, and has swings of blood pressure. Her vet recommends a course of the drug PALLADIA to stabilize the growth of Maggie's cancer as long as possible. Maggie is my world. For the past 15 years, Maggie has been the only one I could always count on. She wakes up with me in the morning and goes to bed with me at night. She licks my face all the time to show me how much she loves me. Recently, she started licking Jason whenever she gets the chance. Maggie knows the names of all her toys, loves to play, but hates her feet to be touched!

Busters looks tough, but is the biggest baby and food lover. My son has Busters dad. All dogs still get to play and be family on visits. Buster is a big baby whom plays with his dogs toys at 7 years old. Buster is friendly with everyone, especially when there is food involved. He is the protector and play yard duty for his sisters, my Chihuahuas. Living alone I feel safe with his presence and strong bark. Buster is also good with family friends that have children. I’m on disability from a severe back injury that left my learning how to walk again. I am still paying for my own medical fees from the multiple surgeries and therapy I received Buster needs his front leg amputated to rid the cancer. He is almost a three legged dog now. He has adapted to walking without applying weight on his painful leg. He will cry out in pain when his medicine is not helping. Besides those occasional crys, he has shown no aggression and is very tolerant of his sisters. Buster puts his paw on your knee to get attention. He still has some of his original dog toys that he puts back in his basket when done playing. When you scratch Busters hind back he with shift his rear to help you reach all the spots necessary. It almost looks as though if he has is dancing. Buster love attention!

Kona — 651030

NEW BERN, NC

We rescued Kona in 2016, he was 18 months old and completely emaciated. We brought him home and nursed him back to health. He is the sweetest ever. We don't know how anyone could treat him that way. We don't know much about his health before then besides he was male nourished. Since then he has been completely healthy. He is an indoor/outdoor pup. He loves walks and playing in all the lakes. Kona is so down to earth and easy-going. He loves just being next to me. He will follow me around the house and sit next to me wherever I go. He loves our son and daughters. Our daughters will sit on his back and play with his ears and he loves the attention. He has another companion here Guhnner our German Shepherd they are best friends. We were denied for Care Credit card in the middle of them doing an Ultrasound on his belly. We are a Military family who has been through a lot these last couple of years with costs related to the hurricane and losing my job due to COVID-19. We are only on one-income family. He went to Emergency vet August 28, 2020, and they did x-rays and confirmed he has a mass in his tummy, his spleen has been enlarged, along with swollen lymph nodes throughout his body and severe anemia. I followed up with his primary care on Monday (yesterday) August 31, 2020, and they said it looks like Lymphoma. We were referred to an Oncologist Veterinary Specialty Hospital at 6405 Tryon Road Kona is so special because he's a little piece of California for us and is this biggest love you ever have known. We are a Military family who has been through a lot being away from family and friends for the last 3.5 years. He has been our comfort and glue going through all this. When I was expecting the girl's hed share my snacks with me and rest his chin on my belly. He always smiling.

Thornton, CO

When a veterinarian says those dreaded words, "Your dog has cancer," time stops. Your head spins. You vow to do all you can to help your pet. Then you get hit with the bills. Danelle B. is trying to deal with that agonizing situation right now. Her beloved dog, Bubba, is battling cancer right now. His diagnosis was shocking, especially since he is so young. "Bubba had a baseball-size tumor along with a foot of his small intestine removed about a month ago, and we just got the results back that he has lymphoma, and it has spread throughout his lymph nodes," she tells Waggle. The unexpected expense has drained her bank account and racked up thousands of dollars in bills. Danelle says Bubba is such a gem, so friendly and welcoming to everyone. Chemotherapy is the only treatment that will save him. Danelle and Bubba are so thankful for any assistance. "Please help me save Bubba's Life," Danelle pleads. Danelle rescued the cute Mastiff when he was just nine weeks old. "He had the brightest green eyes and sweetest personality," she adds. "I went to an adoption event at a local PetSmart and fell in love immediately. Initially, when I first took him home, I wanted to give him a strong name like Thor or King, but I couldn't help it when Bubba would come so naturally. He is now Bubbies or Bubba Lou." "I was only able to afford the emergency surgery with credit cards, and help from my mom and dad. After already spending over $7,000, I am in a position where I can no longer afford further treatment without help," Danelle says. Bubba now needs eight rounds of chemotherapy and is being treated by Dr. Oberthaler at Treeline Veterinary Office in Boulder, CO.

Sydney is a 6-year-old Vizsla in Elmhurst, IL, who needs $3,383 for Radiation .

Elmhurst, IL

Sydney came from a breeder in Port Byron, IL. We have had a total of 4 Vizslas in the family come from this breeder and they're all quirky, goofy, and clones of each other!! Each one of them has had their own personality, but yet still are all the same. You have to own a Vizsla to understand how truly unique and human-like they are! Sydney is probably the most spoiled dog you'll ever meet. She has been in our life for 6 years now. She sleeps in bed between my husband and me, as well as our other four legged Vizsla, Macy. She is our "nerdy kid at the playground" who usually sits in the corner during doggie day care outings. She prefers human interaction and one-on-one attention, because it's all about her (of course). I lost my job the day after meeting with Dr. Sowders due to COVID lay-offs where I work. This was extremely heartbreaking and completely unexpected. I am asking anyone and everyone for help to give her the best quality of life. She is our whole world and love her so much. VCA Animal Hospital of Aurora diagnosed Sydney with hemangiopericytoma, a malignant tumor of her limb. She underwent one surgery already but unfortunately the vet was not able to remove it all. Dr. Sowders recommended radiation therapy for the best prognosis and to decrease the risk of metastasis. With radiation, she has about an 80% chance this will not reoccur for at least the next 3-5 years. She started suffering from extreme anxiety at about 3 years old, to the point where she couldn't even go on walks anymore. She was afraid of her own shadow and everything in the world scared her. At first, we thought it was cute, but we worked hard every day to show her the world isn't a scary place. Her little sister, Macy, has been a big help to expose her to this wonderful world!

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

Poor Lemon and her family got hit with a one-two punch. First, Lemon's human mom, Jana V., lost her job due to the pandemic. Then she learned Lemon, who is only a year old, has cancer. "Lemon was diagnosed with malignant melanoma when a biopsy was sent out for a tumor that the vets thought was a simple skin tag," Jana tells Waggle. There is a treatment for this kind of cancer, but it's a cost Jana can't afford without a paycheck. Lemon's cancer team at Coral Springs Animal Hospital started her on a regimen of melanoma vaccinations. Then in six weeks, her veterinarian will run blood tests, take X-rays, and aspirate the site again to see if the cancer is still there. Jana appreciates all the assistance she can get to help Lemon with her unexpected diagnosis. "Her life expectancy was cut by years, and I would be forever grateful for more time with my beautiful pup," she says. Lemon's family is hopeful the treatment will work, and she will be back to being her ole self. "She spends most of her time with me but is equally happy when my boyfriend comes home from work and loves on her. We thought she might be too big for the bed, but she makes herself fit JUST FINE. She was the perfect fit for our family, and I truly believe she mends us all together." Jana adds. The beautiful white dog means so much to Jana and her family. "I've had little Lemon since she was three months old, my cousin's German Shepard had puppies and offered me one," Jana says. "She is my only animal not rescued, but I like to think she rescued us. She loves all humans and animals she comes in contact with."

It's one of the worst moments in a pet owner's life, the moment a veterinarian tells you your pet has cancer. Crystal A. had a feeling something was wrong with her precious dog, Shiva. "Shiva started acting lethargic and down," she tells Waggle. "But when she started not wanting to eat, we knew something was wrong. Our poor baby was diagnosed with lymphoma and possible hemangiosarcoma cancers." The only option for treatment is chemotherapy. That dreaded news hit Crystal and her husband, who is unable to work due to health problems, hard. The couple depleted their emergency fund and are completely panicked about how to pay for Shiva's treatment. They just don't have the money. And the thought of not trying to save Shiva is even more heartbreaking. Shiva also has a spark in her! She knows lots of tricks and loves to show off. Her family just can't imagine life without her. The oncology team at Blue Pearl Veterinary Specialty and Emergency pet hospital are ready to start treatment but the family needs your help. The sweet dog is the heart and soul of her family. "Shiva loves to sunbathe in her downtime, but she also loves to go for walks and play fetch with her favorite ball," Crystal adds. "Something she hasn't lost joy for while sick, though she has slowed down. She is gentle and loving even when our young daughter is a little too exuberant." "Shiva is the glue that holds her pack, a brother and sister together," Crystal says. "Shiva was a stray that wiggled her way into our hearts when she was about four-months-old. She has traveled the world with us; from Georgia to Hawaii, to Virginia and to Texas. It is not easy being part of a military family."

Cody is a 4-year-old Rottweiler in Salem, WI, who needs 5,000 for cancer treatment.

Salem, WI

UPDATE*** Cody got his Radiation treatment. You can see he got a cape for being a super hero! He was brought in the vet specialists and we had to wait outside for 6 hours for everything to be done. It was upsetting and we wondered if he felt alone. BUT Cody also got pet of the month at the treatment center! They told us all he wanted to do was be with someone while recovering. So the vet assistants took turns cuddling with him in the cage. The fell in love with him. The other picture is him coming out of his first Chemo treatment. He was lethargic, the tech said he was sad like he thought we were not going to be there after the treatment. We were and he quickly trotted into my sons arms. So far we have made the payments with the credit cards, and a new loan. I hope somewhere a prayer will be answered and financial help will get better. Cody is only four-months-old and was just diagnosed with cancer. His family is absolutely crushed. "We got the most terrible upsetting news," his human mom, Kelly C. tells Waggle. "He had bone cancer in his leg. We were devastated. We turned into mush. My son could not understand how a kind loving animal, and his best friend could have this horrible disease." Most pet owners will tell you there's never enough time you can spend with your animals. It goes by too quickly. If Kelly and her family can't help Cody fight his cancer the time they've had with him will be significantly shortened. "We adopted Cody when he was 10 months old," Kellly says. "We found out how much of a lover he was. All he wanted was to be by you and be pet. Cody sleeps in the room with my son, Cody is my son's buddy and another brother." Cody is a dream come true for her son. "I went through a bad divorce, and my son was teased while growing up. He always helped and didn't let teasing stop him from doing the right things. When we finally got our own place he wanted a dog," she says. They found Cody listed on an adoption site. They were third in line to meet him, but they wanted him to be their dog so much they waited all day for the chance to meet him. And that was that! "We were given the chance to adopt him," Kelly adds. "Cody was what our family needed. He would sit on your lap if you let him, but is 150 pounds!" Recently Cody started to limp. Kelly figured he just sprained his leg because he loves to run. When his leg didn't get better she brought him for an X-ray and that's when she found out he has bone cancer.

For those of you that don’t know Guinness, he is the goofiest, happy go lucky labrador that was rescued from euthanasia at the young age of 4 months. He was an owner surrender because he had parvo. Well there was no way i couldn’t give him a fighting chance! He survived Parvo as a puppy, and has been the light of my life ever since. He brightens up every room, trail, and dog park. The staff at the veterinarian’s office and doggie day care love this boy! You can’t help but not! Guinness has been my rock especially since his sister lab passed away. She was my therapy dog and even though Guinness isn’t registered, he filled her paw prints the beat way he knew how to. He has been there for me through so many life changes; moves, breakups, job changes, the violent passing of his sister who was misdiagnosed ( long story) I didn’t have the chance to help her, but I have the chance to do so with Guinness!!!! Please help us give him a longer life. Any and all help is very much appreciated more than you will ever know.

I adopted Cheech in May of 2018 from a shelter. He was bald and had been recovering from menge. He is the sweetest, loving, and adorable dog I have ever owned. He is my first dog as an adult. I have only had him for 10 months but it feels like a lifetime of memories I have shared with this dog. Our bond is unbreakable and I don't think I will ever find another dog like him. In January of 2018 we were coming back from the store and he jumped out of my car and yelped in pain. I took him to the vet assuming he tore something. The vet performed xrays and found that he had 1. been shot by bird shot from a previous owner in the leg. and 2. He had a tumor on his bone. The vet diagnosed him with osteosarcoma in Feb. 2018. His tumor has grown very fast and we took the first available appointment to see a surgeon. The surgeon told us that his scans are negative for cancer other than his leg. If she removes the leg she will be able to save him. The surgery is 4,000 dollars I didn't have. I have been working double shifts trying to save enough money but have come short 1,000.00 If you could consider Cheech for this grant I would be eternally grateful. His surgery is scheduled for tomorrow 04/03/2019 and Im probably going to have to cancel if I cannot come up with the funds.
