Tori
Help Tori Heal and Walk Again
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Tori was brought to veterinary care on June 15, 2026, after developing serious mobility issues and suffering from a severe wound on his hind leg. Upon examination, veterinarians discovered a chronic, infected laceration on the lower portion of his left hind limb, along with signs of anemia that indicated his condition had been deteriorating for some time. Tori required immediate medical intervention. The veterinary team began emergency stabilization by administering IV fluids and controlling active bleeding from the wound. To combat the infection and prevent further complications, intensive wound management and injectable antibiotic treatments were started right away. While Tori has received the urgent care he needed to stabilize his condition, his recovery is far from over. Ongoing treatment, medications, and supportive therapies will be essential to help him heal properly and regain comfort and mobility. Every day matters when treating severe infections and chronic wounds. Delays in care can lead to worsening infection, prolonged suffering, and more complex medical challenges. With your support, Tori can continue receiving the treatment he needs and have the best chance at a full recovery. Your donation will directly help cover the costs of his ongoing veterinary care and give Tori the opportunity to heal, regain strength, and return to a healthy, active life. Please consider making a gift today to help Tori on his road to recovery. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference. 8/2/26 Update It is with heavy hearts that we share that, despite every effort to save him, Tori has passed away. When Tori arrived in our care, he was suffering from a severe infected wound on his hind leg, significant mobility issues, and anemia. Our veterinary team acted immediately, providing emergency treatment with IV fluids, antibiotics, pain management, and intensive wound care in hopes of stabilizing him. As doctors continued to evaluate his condition, they discovered that Tori was facing much more than the injuries we could see. He was suffering from chronic kidney failure, severe anemia, and a widespread infection. Despite receiving aggressive medical treatment, his body was simply too sick to recover. His veterinarians believe the likely cause of his passing was a combination of chronic kidney disease, septic shock, and severe anemia. Sometimes, despite the best medical care, the damage is simply too extensive. This is one of the heartbreaking realities of rescue work, especially for animals who have suffered in silence for far too long before help arrives. Although we couldn't give Tori the future we had hoped for, we were able to give him something incredibly important in his final days: compassionate medical care, relief from suffering, and the knowledge that he was not alone. He was surrounded by people who cared deeply about him and fought for his life until the very end. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who donated, shared his story, and kept Tori in their thoughts. Your generosity gave him every possible chance and ensured that he received the dignity, comfort, and care he deserved. From all of us, thank you for standing beside Tori on his journey. While his time with us was far too short, he left this world knowing kindness instead of neglect. Run free, sweet Tori. You will always be remembered. ❤️

When Suzy arrived at the veterinary hospital, she was suffering from a painful and heartbreaking injury that could no longer be ignored. This gentle 6-year-old girl was found with a severe wound on her right ear that had become infested with maggots. During her examination, veterinarians discovered a large, round wound measuring approximately 7 cm in diameter. Tragically, much of her ear tissue had already become necrotic, meaning the damaged tissue was dying and could not heal on its own. To give Suzy a chance at recovery, the veterinary team immediately sedated her so they could carefully remove the maggots and begin treating the wound. She received essential medications, including antibiotics and other treatments to combat infection and stop further damage. Her wound was thoroughly cleaned and treated, but her fight is far from over. Suzy is now hospitalized and receiving ongoing medical care. The next several days will be critical as veterinarians monitor her healing, manage her pain, and work to prevent complications. Severe wounds like this require intensive treatment, repeated wound care, medications, and continued observation to ensure recovery stays on track. This handsome 2-year-old cat was brought into care after being struck in a traffic accident, suffering multiple traumatic injuries that required immediate veterinary intervention. When Tinky arrived at the clinic, he was bleeding from both his nose and ears, both alarming signs that raised concerns about a potentially serious head injury. He also had a painful 2 cm laceration beneath his lower jaw. Tinky is fighting hard. The veterinary team acted quickly to stabilize him. His jaw wound was carefully cleaned and sutured, and he was admitted to the hospital for intensive monitoring and treatment. Because of the suspected head injury, Tinky remains under close observation while receiving round-the-clock care. His treatment is extensive and includes IV antibiotics to prevent infection, medications to manage pain and inflammation, supportive therapies to protect his digestive system, and specialized medications to help control bleeding. He is also receiving IV fluids and glucose therapy to keep him hydrated, nourished, and strong while his body works to heal. Accidents like this can leave animals with injuries that are not always visible at first, which is why ongoing monitoring and veterinary care are so critical for Tinky's recovery. Ramber
Ramber's Broken Jaw Won't Break His Spirit
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Ramber has been through more than any dog should have to endure. This sweet dog was recently brought to the clinic with a serious injury to his lower jaw. Veterinarians discovered that Ramber's mandible is broken or may not have developed properly, making it difficult to determine the full extent of the damage without further diagnostic testing. In addition to his jaw injury, Ramber is suffering from widespread hair loss across his body, a condition that may be linked to an underlying medical issue. Despite these challenges, Ramber has remained remarkably resilient. Throughout his examination, he was bright, alert, responsive, and eager to eat. His gentle spirit and determination to keep going have touched everyone involved in his care. Before being admitted for treatment, Ramber received important preventative care, including screening for Canine Distemper, vaccination against Distemper, Hepatitis, and Leptospirosis (DHL), and treatment for external parasites. Now, veterinarians are working to uncover the cause of his medical conditions and develop the best treatment plan for his recovery. To help Ramber, the veterinary team has recommended several diagnostic tests, including a Full Blood Count (FBC), thyroid testing, skin evaluations, and blood parasite screening. These tests will help determine what is causing his hair loss and guide decisions regarding treatment for his jaw injury. Ramber's journey is just beginning. He may require ongoing medical treatment, medications, specialized care, and possibly additional procedures depending on the results of his diagnostic testing. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is committed to giving Ramber the chance he deserves, but the cost of diagnostics and treatment can quickly become overwhelming. Your support can help provide the answers and care this deserving dog urgently needs. Every donation will help cover Ramber's veterinary testing, treatment, medications, and ongoing medical care. Most importantly, your generosity will help give him the opportunity to live a healthy, comfortable life free from pain. Please donate today and help Ramber get the second chance he deserves. 6/24/26 Update Ramber remains under the care of his veterinary team as they continue to monitor his condition and work toward the best possible outcome for this resilient boy. His caregivers are focused on ensuring he remains comfortable while evaluating his medical needs and determining the most appropriate next steps for his treatment and recovery. As with many complex medical cases, the process of gathering information, assessing treatment options, and providing ongoing care takes time. Ramber continues to receive the attention and support he needs while his team works diligently on his behalf. We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and generosity that has made Ramber's care possible. Every donation, share, and message of support helps ensure that he can continue receiving the veterinary care he deserves. Please consider making a contribution today. Your support helps cover the cost of veterinary examinations, diagnostic testing, medications, treatment, and ongoing care, giving Ramber the best chance at a healthier future. Every dollar makes a difference for a dog who deserves every opportunity to heal. 7/14/26 Update We wanted to share a positive update on sweet Ramber's recovery. Because of his fractured jaw (mandibular fracture), Ramber is still unable to eat as much as a healthy dog. While his food intake remains lower than normal, we're encouraged to report that his appetite is good, and he continues to drink water well. His urination and bowel movements are also normal, which are all reassuring signs that he's staying stable. Even better, Ramber's spirit hasn't been broken. He is calm, gentle, and active, and he's resting safely at the Baw Baw Animal Welfare sanctuary, where our team continues to monitor him closely and provide the specialized care he needs. Sherry
Sherry Survived a Tar Pit Nightmare. Now She Needs Your Help
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Sherry's fight for survival began with a horrifying accident. This sweet dog was brought to the animal hospital after reportedly falling into a barrel of tar. By the time she was rescued, the entire left side of her body was coated in the thick, toxic substance. As if that wasn't devastating enough, Sherry had also suffered a severe open fracture of her left hind leg. The injuries she sustained are both painful and life-threatening. Veterinarians immediately began evaluating her condition and discovered that Sherry was battling a serious infection. Bloodwork revealed significant signs of infection as well as low hematocrit levels, indicating that her body has already been under tremendous stress. While she tested negative for Filariasis and Canine Distemper Virus (CDV), her road to recovery remains long and difficult. The veterinary team's first priority was carefully removing the tar that covered much of her body. Using coconut oil and other supportive treatments, they have been working tirelessly to clean and stabilize her while managing her pain and monitoring her condition around the clock. Unfortunately, the damage to her fractured leg is too severe to repair. Once Sherry is strong enough to safely undergo anesthesia, she will need surgery to amputate the affected limb. Despite everything she has endured, Sherry continues to fight. She is currently hospitalized, receiving intensive medical care, medications, wound management, nutritional support, and close monitoring as doctors work to prepare her for surgery. Her resilience in the face of such trauma has inspired everyone involved in her care. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is committed to giving Sherry every chance at a happy future, but the cost of her hospitalization, diagnostics, infection treatment, surgery, medications, and ongoing recovery is substantial. Your donation can help provide the lifesaving care Sherry urgently needs. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help cover her medical expenses and support her journey toward healing. After surviving such a terrible ordeal, Sherry deserves the opportunity to live a life free from pain and suffering. Please donate today and help give this brave girl the second chance she deserves. 7/22/26 Update We're happy to share a positive update on Sherry's recovery. After everything he endured, Sherry has continued making encouraging progress. Ninja
Ninja Lost Both Front Legs — Please Help Her Recover Safely
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Ninja has already endured more pain than any dog should ever have to face. After a devastating accident, Ninja underwent the amputation of both of her front legs. Tragically, her suffering did not end there. Following the initial surgery performed elsewhere, her wounds were left improperly closed, leading to serious complications. By the time Ninja arrived with the Baw Baw Animal Welfare veterinary team, her surgical site had become infected and the suture line had completely detached. Despite everything she has been through, Ninja's spirit remains strong. She is bright, alert, active, and still has a healthy appetite. Her resilience is nothing short of remarkable. Our veterinary team immediately stepped in to complete the surgery properly, clean and repair her wounds, and begin the treatment needed to fight the infection and give her the best chance at recovery. Ninja has also received her DHPPiL vaccination and has now been transferred to a sanctuary where she can continue healing in a safe and loving environment. While Ninja is finally receiving the care she deserves, the cost of her medical treatment has been significant. We are asking for your help to cover the veterinary expenses associated with her wound repair, infection treatment, medications, follow-up care, and ongoing recovery. Ninja has survived a terrible accident and multiple surgeries. Now she deserves the opportunity to heal comfortably and adapt to her new life. After everything she endured—the devastating accident, the loss of both of her front legs, the painful complications from her initial surgery, and the infection that followed—our team fought tirelessly to give her every possible chance. She underwent corrective surgery, received intensive medical care, and was surrounded by people who were determined to help her heal. For a time, Ninja showed us just how resilient she was. Despite unimaginable hardship, she remained bright, alert, and full of determination. She reminded us every day that her spirit was far stronger than the challenges her body faced. Sadly, despite the best efforts of her veterinary team, Ninja's body could no longer keep fighting. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the compassion and love she had always deserved. While this is not the outcome any of us hoped for, we find comfort in knowing that Ninja's final days were filled with kindness instead of suffering alone. She experienced gentle hands, warm beds, proper medical care, and people who saw her life as precious and worth fighting for. We are deeply grateful to every person who donated, shared her story, and kept Ninja in their thoughts. Siege
Siege Is Fighting to Stand — Help Save This Critically Ill Dog
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Meet Siege, a dog whose condition tells a heartbreaking story of prolonged neglect and suffering. When Siege was brought to the veterinarian, she was in extremely poor condition. She was severely dehydrated, weak, and debilitated. She also showed signs of a serious neurological disorder, including a pronounced head tilt to the right side, raising concerns about what may be happening beneath the surface. As veterinarians examined her, they discovered that Siege was also battling a massive infestation of ticks and fleas. Her skin was inflamed and painful, with widespread hair loss, severe itching, redness, scaling, and open wounds. Her condition is so extensive that veterinarians suspect she is suffering from multiple overlapping issues, including bacterial and fungal skin infections, flea allergy dermatitis, and a painful ear infection known as otitis externa. Despite everything her body is enduring, Siege is receiving the medical care she desperately needs. Her veterinary team has already begun emergency treatment with fluid therapy to address her dehydration and medications to eliminate the ticks and fleas covering her body. She is also receiving ear cleanings and antibacterial and antifungal medications to begin treating her painful ear disease. In addition, bloodwork, including a complete blood count and kidney function testing, has been ordered to help determine the next steps in her treatment plan. At this point, there are still many unanswered questions. The results of her bloodwork will help guide additional therapies, which may include intravenous medications, injections, oral treatments, and further diagnostics to better understand her neurological symptoms and overall condition. What we do know is that Siege needs immediate and ongoing medical care if she is going to have a chance at recovery. We are raising funds to help cover her emergency veterinary treatment, diagnostics, medications, laboratory testing, and continued care as her medical team works to stabilize her and uncover the cause of her condition. Please consider donating to help Siege receive the lifesaving treatment she needs. Every contribution gives this suffering dog a chance to heal, find comfort, and experience the kindness she deserves. If you cannot donate, sharing her story can help us reach more people willing to help save her life.

Help Soel Survive After a Devastating Train Accident
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Meet Soel, a brave soul whose life changed in an instant after a devastating train accident left them with catastrophic injuries. Rushed to Dr. Pet Hospital in critical condition, Soel arrived suffering from extensive trauma, severe soft tissue damage, and the heartbreaking loss of the lower portions of both forelimbs. Despite unimaginable pain, Soel has shown incredible strength through every step of this fight for survival. The veterinary team immediately began emergency stabilization, providing IV fluids, powerful pain medications, antibiotics to fight infection, intensive wound care, and around-the-clock monitoring. Bloodwork was performed to ensure he was stable enough to undergo surgery, and thankfully the results showed hope for moving forward. Sadly, the damage to Soel’s forelimbs is too severe to repair. The affected limbs are non-salvageable, and without urgent surgical amputation, he remains at high risk for life-threatening infection and ongoing suffering. While the road ahead will not be easy, animals like Soel are incredibly resilient. With proper medical care, pain management, and rehabilitation, he has the chance to heal, adapt, and experience comfort and love again. Windy
Someone Stabbed Windy. Please Help Us Save Her
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Windy is only two years old, but she has already experienced unimaginable cruelty. She came into our care with deep cut wounds across the left dorsal area of her abdomen caused by a knife attack. No animal should ever endure this kind of violence. Despite the pain she has suffered, Windy remains gentle and trusting — a heartbreaking reminder of how innocent animals continue to love even after humans fail them. When Windy was first found, a local veterinarian treated and sutured her wounds in an attempt to stabilize her condition. But during recovery, the sutures detached, leaving her vulnerable to infection and further complications. She is now back under urgent veterinary care so her wounds can be properly treated again. Windy will need to undergo sedation for a second surgical procedure to re-suture the wounds. She is also receiving antibiotic injections and ongoing medical treatment to prevent dangerous infection and help her body heal from this traumatic injury. Her recovery will not happen overnight. Windy will need continued veterinary monitoring, medications, wound management, and supportive care to give her the best chance at healing physically and emotionally. What should have been a simple rescue quickly turned into a medical emergency. After running a Full Blood Count (FBC), the veterinary team discovered something even more concerning. Elanor
Mysterious Leg Tumors Leave Elanor Needing Urgent Diagnosis
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Elanor needs our help as she faces an uncertain diagnosis and the possibility of a serious underlying condition. This sweet girl was brought in for evaluation after rescuers noticed unusual wounds on both of her hind limbs. Upon examination, veterinarians found round lesions that, thankfully, were not infected and showed no signs of maggot infestation. Despite these concerning wounds, Elanor was bright, alert, and responsive, with a normal appetite and water intake — a hopeful sign that her spirit remains strong. However, the appearance of these lesions raised significant concern. The veterinary team determined that the possible causes could include Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT), another type of skin tumor, or soft tissue carcinoma. Each of these conditions requires further diagnostic testing to determine the exact cause and ensure Elanor receives the most appropriate treatment. To begin addressing her condition, Elanor has already received antibiotic injections, and an antibiotic spray has been applied to help protect and manage the wounds. Most importantly, tissue samples have been collected and sent to a pathobiology laboratory. These diagnostics are critical in reaching a definitive diagnosis and guiding the next steps in her care. Right now, Elanor is stable, eating well, and showing resilience — but she still needs ongoing medical support. Once results return, she may require additional treatments depending on the diagnosis, which could include further medications, specialized care, or other interventions. Your donation will help cover: • Veterinary examinations and monitoring • Diagnostic testing and pathology lab fees • Medications and wound care treatment • Ongoing care based on her final diagnosis • Supportive care to keep Elanor comfortable Elanor may look bright and strong, but these types of conditions can worsen without proper treatment. Early diagnostics and intervention give her the best possible chance at recovery and comfort. If you’re able, please consider donating to help Elanor receive the care she needs. Every contribution helps us move closer to answers and ensures she won’t face this uncertainty alone. If you can’t donate, sharing her story also makes a meaningful difference. Elanor is fighting — and with your help, we can make sure she gets the diagnosis, treatment, and care she deserves.

Corti
After 3 Days Trapped in a Well, Corti Now Needs Urgent Medical Care
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Corti has already survived something unimaginable — but his journey to recovery is only just beginning. This sweet cat was rescued after being trapped inside a well for three long days. Alone, frightened, and unable to escape, Corti endured a terrifying ordeal before finally being brought to safety by Baw Baw Animal Welfare. We can only imagine how exhausted and dehydrated he must have been after such a traumatic experience. Once rescued, Corti was immediately taken for a veterinary examination. Thankfully, his respiratory system showed clear lung sounds with no congestion or wheezing — a small relief after spending days trapped in such conditions. But further examination revealed several concerning medical issues that now require urgent care. The veterinarian identified two wounds on both sides of Corti’s face. These lesions could be due to scar tissue, tumor growth, or potentially Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of skin cancer that requires further diagnostics to confirm. In addition, Corti has severe opacity in both eyes. At this stage, it is difficult to determine whether this is caused by corneal ulcers, cataracts, or another underlying condition affecting his vision. These eye issues may be painful and could impact his quality of life if left untreated. Despite everything he has endured, Corti remains bright, alert, and responsive. Even more heartwarming — he still has a normal appetite, showing his resilience and will to keep fighting. But he needs medical support to give him the best chance at healing and comfort. Vesper
A Painful Growth Threatens Vesper’s Future
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Meet Vesper, a stray dog whose life has already been filled with uncertainty — and now, he’s facing a painful medical mystery. Vesper was brought into care after rescuers noticed a firm, painful lesion on the top of his nose. The area was so sensitive that it began to bleed when touched. Despite his discomfort, Vesper remained gentle and trusting, allowing the veterinary team to help him. To provide immediate relief, the veterinary team sedated Vesper so they could safely clean the wound and apply an antibacterial spray. But this was only the first step. The true cause of the lesion remains unknown, and determining what Vesper is facing is critical to saving his life. Veterinarians have developed a diagnostic plan that includes performing a biopsy and a Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) to identify the nature of the growth. These tests will help determine whether the lesion is an infection, injury-related, or something more serious that may require surgery. While waiting for results, Vesper is receiving supportive care, including fluids and medications to stabilize him and reduce the risk of infection. He is currently being treated with dextrose and normal saline fluids, along with medications such as Asyrtamm, Hydantin, and antibiotics to keep him comfortable and supported. Because Vesper was found as a stray, his history is completely unknown. No one knows how long he has been suffering or what caused this painful condition. What we do know is that he deserves a chance — a chance to heal, to be safe, and to finally experience love. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is committed to getting Vesper the diagnostics and treatment he needs, but the costs of testing, medications, and potential surgery add up quickly. They can’t do it alone. Roony
Help Roony Walk Again — He’s Still Fighting After Three Weeks 💔🐾
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Three weeks ago, Roony suffered a traumatic accident that left him struggling to walk. Despite immediate treatment with steroids and neuro-supportive care, his condition has not improved the way everyone hoped. He’s still fighting, still trying… but he needs more help. Right now, Roony continues to have difficulty walking, and he’s also experiencing involuntary urination and defecation — serious signs of neurological impairment. These symptoms show just how much his body has been affected and how urgently he needs continued care. The good news? Roony hasn’t given up. His appetite remains strong, his spirit is still there, and he’s responding to the love and support around him. He just needs the right treatment to give him a real chance at recovery. His veterinary team has now prescribed an intensive treatment plan that includes: • Antibiotics • Steroids • Physiotherapy • Hydrotherapy These therapies are critical to reducing inflammation, rebuilding strength, and helping Roony regain mobility. But ongoing neurological care and rehabilitation come with significant costs — and Baw Baw Animal Welfare cannot do this alone. Roony deserves the chance to stand, to walk, and to live a comfortable life again. Every day of therapy could mean the difference between permanent disability and recovery. Please consider donating — no amount is too small. Your support will help cover his medications, rehabilitation sessions, and continued veterinary care. If you can’t donate, sharing Roony’s story helps just as much. The more people who see him, the better his chance of getting the care he needs. Roony is still fighting. Let’s fight with him.

Ziva
Ziva Is Bleeding After Eating Metal — Help Save His Life
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Ziva was rushed to Baw Baw's veterinary clinic on March 10, 2026, in serious pain. When he arrived, the veterinary team discovered bleeding wounds inside his mouth. After examining him more closely, they determined the shocking cause — Ziva had consumed pieces of an aluminum bucket. The sharp metal fragments caused multiple deep lacerations inside his mouth, leaving him with painful bleeding injuries that required immediate medical care. To stabilize Ziva and prevent infection, the veterinarian started an intensive treatment plan that includes: • Cefuroxime to fight infection • Metronidazole to control bacteria and inflammation • Omeprazole to protect his stomach lining • Tranexamic acid to help stop the bleeding Right now, the veterinary team is closely monitoring Ziva’s condition. The hope is that these medications will allow his injuries to heal without further complications. However, there is still a serious concern. If Ziva does not improve or if the veterinarians suspect internal damage from the metal fragments, he may require surgery to save his life. Situations like this are incredibly difficult. Animals in vulnerable situations sometimes ingest dangerous objects simply while trying to survive. Ziva is now safe and receiving care, but his treatment and potential surgery come with significant medical costs. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is asking for help from compassionate supporters to ensure Ziva gets the care he needs. Your donation can help cover: \\\\- Emergency veterinary treatment - Medications to control infection and bleeding - Ongoing monitoring and diagnostics - Potential life-saving surgery if needed Ziva has already endured painful injuries. With the right medical care, he has a chance to heal and move forward to a safe and healthy future. Please consider donating to help give Ziva that chance. Every contribution — no matter the amount — makes a difference. 7/7/26 Update After arriving at the veterinary clinic with painful injuries caused by ingesting pieces of an aluminum bucket, Ziva received the emergency medical care he desperately needed. Thanks to prompt treatment, careful monitoring, and the dedication of his veterinary team, he recovered without needing the extensive intervention everyone feared. Today, Ziva is feeling so much better. The painful wounds in his mouth have healed, he's back to eating comfortably, and his bright spirit has returned. What began as a frightening emergency has become a story of resilience, compassion, and hope. None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our supporters. Every donation helped provide Ziva with emergency veterinary care, medications, diagnostics, and the ongoing treatment he needed to make a full recovery. On behalf of everyone at Baw Baw Animal Welfare, thank you for believing that Ziva's life was worth fighting for. Your kindness gave him the chance to heal, and because of you, he now has the opportunity to enjoy the healthy, happy future he deserves. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of Ziva's second chance.

Grover
Severely Infected and Exhausted — Grover Needs Emergency Care
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Grover should have been wagging his tail — not fighting to survive. When Grover was rushed to the hospital, veterinarians were met with a devastating sight: a large, round wound on the left side of his face measuring nearly 7 centimeters across. The injury had already been overtaken by maggots. The infection was severe. The pain he must have endured is beyond words. He was no longer the bright, alert, responsive dog he once was. Grover’s body was weak. He struggled to stand. He could barely walk. Most of the time, he lay motionless — exhausted, helpless, and shutting down. Thanks to the quick action of Baw Baw Animal Welfare, Grover was immediately admitted for emergency care. His wound was carefully shaved, flushed, and cleaned to remove the maggots and infected tissue. He was started on strong antibiotics, pain relief, and treatment for parasites that were further draining his fragile body. But Grover’s fight isn’t over. Severe wounds like this require ongoing medical treatment, daily cleaning, medications, monitoring, and supportive care to ensure the infection does not return and that healthy tissue can regrow. Malnutrition and weakness must be addressed. His strength needs to be rebuilt slowly and safely. Right now, Grover needs time — and he needs us. Despite everything he has endured, there are glimpses of hope. When gentle hands reach toward him, he doesn’t pull away. When spoken to softly, his eyes follow the sound. Somewhere beneath the pain and exhaustion, Grover is still there. And he deserves the chance to fully come back. Your donation today will go directly toward Grover’s emergency veterinary care, medications, wound management, nutritional support, and recovery. Every dollar helps relieve his suffering and move him closer to healing. If you are unable to donate, sharing Grover’s story can help us reach someone who can. Grover has suffered enough. Now it’s our turn to show him compassion, safety, and the promise of a better tomorrow. Please help us give Grover the second chance he so desperately needs. 3/15/26 Update We are heartbroken to share an update about Grover. When Grover was brought to the veterinary hospital, his condition was already extremely severe. The large wound on the side of his face had been deeply infested with maggots, and much of the outer skin tissue had already been destroyed. Because so much of the skin — the body’s natural protective barrier — had been damaged, it left Grover highly vulnerable to infection and disease. Despite immediate medical care, cleaning of the wound, antibiotics, pain relief, and supportive treatment, Grover’s body had already become very weak. Without the protection of healthy skin, harmful pathogens were able to enter his body more easily, and the infection had taken a devastating toll on his fragile condition. The veterinary team did everything they could to help him fight, but sadly, Grover’s body was simply too compromised. Despite all efforts, we were unable to save him. Grover’s suffering has ended, but the loss of this gentle soul weighs heavily on all of us. No animal should have to endure the pain and neglect that he experienced before help finally reached him. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported Grover during his final days — whether through donations, sharing his story, or sending messages of compassion. Your kindness allowed him to receive medical care, comfort, and dignity when he needed it most. Although Grover’s journey ended too soon, your support helped ensure that he was not alone and that his suffering was met with compassion. On behalf of Baw Baw Animal Welfare and the veterinary team who cared for him, thank you for standing with Grover. We will continue fighting for animals like him — those who have no voice and nowhere else to turn. Grover will always be remembered.

Zinda
Zinda Survived the Accident — Now He’s Fighting to Walk Again
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Zinda was brought to Baw Baw Animal Welfare with a painfully enlarged abdomen that had been worsening for nearly two weeks. Behind his tired eyes is a life that has already endured so much. Zinda is believed to be the victim of a road traffic accident, carrying both visible wounds and hidden internal trauma. Although he is still able to urinate and defecate, he is very weak. A neurological examination revealed slow reflexes and reduced muscle control. Most concerning, his anal sphincter remains relaxed — a worrying sign of possible nerve damage caused by the accident. He also has multiple wounds on his body — painful reminders of a harsh past that no animal should ever experience. Zinda has never received routine vaccinations or consistent medical care. Only recently dewormed, he is fragile and vulnerable, now depending entirely on us to fight for his survival. Our veterinary team immediately began intensive treatment, including: Ceftriaxone (antibiotic therapy) - Dexamethasone (to reduce inflammation and spinal swelling) - Neurobion (to support nerve function) - IV fluids (Normal Saline and Dextrose) to stabilize and strengthen him Right now, Zinda needs: Continued hospitalization and close monitoring - Ongoing medications and supportive care - Diagnostic testing to better assess internal injuries - Nutritional support and wound management Recovery from neurological trauma is uncertain and requires time, specialized care, and constant monitoring. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is committed to giving Zinda every possible chance — but we cannot do it alone. 💛 Your donation will go directly toward his life-saving treatment, hospitalization, medications, and diagnostics. Every dollar helps strengthen him. Every contribution increases his chances of recovery. Every share spreads hope. Zinda survived the accident. Now he needs us to help him survive the aftermath. Please consider donating today and becoming part of Zinda’s fight for life. 3/4/26 Update It is with the heaviest hearts that we share this update. Sweet Zinda, who had already endured so much suffering in his short life, passed away last night at the hospital. When Zinda first came into the care of Baw Baw Animal Welfare, his fragile body told the story of unimaginable hardship. Believed to be the victim of a road traffic accident, he arrived with a painfully enlarged abdomen, multiple wounds, neurological weakness, and signs of possible nerve damage. Despite everything, he fought quietly and bravely. Our veterinary team began immediate intensive treatment — antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, nerve support, IV fluids — doing everything possible to stabilize him and ease his pain. For a moment, we hoped his strength would carry him through. But in the days that followed, Zinda developed severe diarrhea and began struggling to breathe. Gradually, his appetite faded. His water intake decreased. His small, tired body grew weaker and weaker despite continued hospitalization and supportive care. Last night, surrounded by the veterinary team who refused to give up on him, Zinda took his final breath. We are devastated. Though we could not save him, we are grateful that his final days were not spent alone on the streets in pain. He was warm. He was medicated. He was cared for. He was loved. In his last chapter, he knew kindness. Thank you to every single person who donated, shared his story, and kept him in your thoughts. Your compassion allowed us to give Zinda dignity, comfort, and relief in his final days. That matters. It always matters. Some battles are simply too heavy for broken bodies to win. But love showed up for him — and that is something no accident could take away. Run free, sweet Zinda. No more pain. No more suffering. Only peace now.

Chintu
Support Puppy Chintu’s Road to Recovery
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Chintu was brought into Baw Baw Animal Welfare after struggling to walk. He was helplessly dragging himself forward using only his front legs. We rushed him to our clinic, where we discovered he had likely been involved in a traffic accident. Although there were no visible wounds or obvious signs of trauma, the damage was far more serious than it first appeared. We believe Chintu may also be suffering from neurological injury. He is currently unable to control his urination and defecation, leaving him frightened, uncomfortable, and vulnerable. Right now, we are doing everything we can to find the root cause of his condition and provide the supportive care he desperately needs. Chintu is confused and living in pain, but he still chooses to fight every single day. He fully depends on our rescue team for the compassion, treatment, and safety he deserves. We are working tirelessly to understand his injuries and give him the chance to heal. If you’re able, please consider donating to Chintu’s care. This gentle, loving boy needs our help — and we truly can’t do it without you. 2/27/26 Update When Chintu first came to us, he could only drag himself forward using his front legs. Confused, incontinent, and likely suffering from both traumatic and possible neurological injury, his future felt uncertain. Every movement seemed like a struggle. Today, we are holding onto something we didn’t have before: hope. Chintu is becoming more active than he was when he first arrived — and seeing this little soul move with more strength fills our hearts in the most beautiful way. While he still has challenges ahead, we are noticing encouraging changes. He is more alert, more responsive, and showing small but meaningful improvements in his mobility. He continues to receive supportive care, monitoring, assisted hygiene, and therapies aimed at helping his body regain as much function as possible. Cases involving neurological trauma are rarely straightforward, and progress can be slow. But even small steps matter — and Chintu is taking them. He still depends on us completely. He needs ongoing medical evaluations, rehabilitation support, specialized care for his bladder and bowel management, and a safe space to continue healing. If you’re able, please consider continuing to support Chintu’s journey. Your donations help cover diagnostics, daily care supplies, therapy, and the consistent support he needs to keep improving. Chintu is fighting. And now, for the first time, we’re seeing glimpses of strength returning. Please donate and share his story. Together, we can give this gentle boy every chance to stand stronger tomorrow than he did yesterday. 3/12/26 Update When Chintu first arrived at Baw Baw Animal Welfare, he was in heartbreaking condition. Unable to use his back legs, he dragged himself forward using only his front legs, frightened and confused after what we believe was a traffic accident. On top of that, he had no control over his urination or defecation, making him incredibly vulnerable and uncomfortable. Today, we are so grateful to share encouraging progress. Chintu’s appetite and water intake are now normal, and he is urinating and defecating regularly. These are very important signs that his body is stabilizing and responding to the care he has been receiving. His overall condition has improved, and he is now actively present in our sanctuary environment. Even more beautiful to witness is Chintu’s personality beginning to shine. Chintu has shown himself to be a lovely, playful puppy who enjoys being around his caregivers and exploring the sanctuary. Despite everything he has endured, his spirit remains bright and full of life. While he continues to receive supportive care and monitoring as we work to understand the full extent of his injuries, seeing him engaged, playful, and comfortable is a meaningful step forward in his recovery. However, Chintu’s journey is not over. Continued physical therapy (PT) will be critical in helping him rebuild strength, improve mobility, and give him the best possible chance at regaining function. Rehabilitation takes time, consistency, and specialized care. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to support Chintu’s ongoing physical therapy and rehabilitation. Your support will help cover the therapies and care he needs to keep moving forward. Chintu has already shown us how strong he is. With your help, we can give this sweet boy the continued support he needs to keep fighting, healing, and hopefully one day standing stronger than ever. 4/6/26 Update We are incredibly happy to share a beautiful final update on Chintu. When Chintu first arrived at Baw Baw Animal Welfare, he was unable to use his back legs and could only drag himself forward with his front legs. He was frightened, incontinent, and believed to be suffering from injuries after a traffic accident, possibly including neurological damage. His condition was heartbreaking, and his future was uncertain. Thanks to compassionate care, consistent monitoring, and the generous support of donors, Chintu began to show small but meaningful improvements. Those small steps have now turned into something truly wonderful. Today, Chintu is actively present in our sanctuary and enjoying life as a young dog should. His appetite and water intake are normal, and he is urinating and defecating regularly — all very important signs of recovery and stability. Even more encouraging, he is actively interacting with other dogs and engaging with his caregivers. His confidence has grown, and his personality continues to shine. Watching Chintu transform from a frightened, immobile puppy into a stronger, more active young boy has been nothing short of inspiring. He is becoming stronger every day and continues to thrive in the safe, supportive environment of the sanctuary. This progress would not have been possible without the kindness of everyone who donated, shared his story, and supported his care. Your contributions helped provide the diagnostics, supportive care, therapy, and daily attention that gave Chintu the chance to recover. Chintu’s journey is a powerful reminder that even the most vulnerable animals can heal with time, patience, and compassion. Thank you for standing with him and helping give this sweet boy the opportunity to grow into the strong, happy young dog he is today.

Donis
Meet Donis — a brave soul fighting to walk again.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Donis was brought to Baw Baw Animal Welfare after his guardian noticed something heartbreaking — he was struggling to walk. He had already received treatment from another veterinarian, but despite their efforts, there was no meaningful improvement. His mobility continued to decline, and his discomfort remained. When Donis came into our care, our veterinary team performed a full clinical evaluation and immediately began a new, more aggressive treatment protocol. He is now receiving: Ceftriaxone (antibiotic therapy) Methylprednisolone (to reduce inflammation and spinal swelling) Neurobion intravenously (to support nerve function) IV fluids including Normal Saline and Dextrose Metronidazole for additional infection control These medications are aimed at reducing inflammation, addressing possible infection, and supporting neurological recovery. But medicine alone is not enough. To give Donis the best chance at regaining strength and mobility, his veterinarian has strongly recommended physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. These specialized rehabilitation therapies are critical for rebuilding muscle tone, improving coordination, and encouraging functional recovery. His progress will need to be carefully monitored to evaluate how he responds to treatment. Recovery will take time, patience, and consistent care. Baw Baw Animal Welfare is committed to standing by Donis every step of the way — but we cannot do it alone. Your donation will go directly toward Donis’ medications, rehabilitation therapy, and supportive veterinary care. Every dollar helps give him a stronger chance to walk confidently again. Every share helps expand his circle of support. Donis is fighting. With your help, we can fight for him. Please consider donating today to help Donis take his next steps toward healing.

Bonjour
Bonjour Is Hurting — and He Needs Us 💔
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When Bonjour was rescued by Baw Baw Animal Welfare, he wasn’t able to stand, walk, or even shift his body without crying out in pain. His small body had been through more than anyone realized — and every movement reminded him of it. Bonjour arrived at the clinic terrified and suffering, with weakness in his back legs and injuries so severe they left him unable to move normally. X-rays later revealed the heartbreaking truth: both a front leg and a back leg are completely broken. Despite the pain, Bonjour has been incredibly gentle. He still looks up at his caregivers with trusting eyes — as if asking whether this is finally the place where the hurting stops. Right now, Bonjour is receiving strong pain medication and supportive care to keep him comfortable while his body stabilizes. He is being watched closely, hour by hour, as the team prepares him for what comes next. Once he is strong enough, Bonjour will need surgery under general anesthesia to repair his broken limbs and give him a real chance at walking — and living — without pain. Every share gives him hope. Please stand with Bonjour today. Let’s make sure his story doesn’t end in pain — but in healing, safety, and the chance to walk into a future he deserves. 2/12/26 Update After enduring unimaginable pain from multiple broken limbs, Bonjour bravely underwent surgery to repair his injuries. His procedures were successful, including later pin removal, and he was discharged into our sanctuary to continue his recovery. It was a hopeful step forward, and we were so proud of how far he had come. Unfortunately, Bonjour later became unwell and required re-hospitalization. After further testing and evaluation, he has now been diagnosed with tick fever and canine distemper. He is currently hospitalized and is receiving intensive treatment, supportive care, and close monitoring from the veterinary team. This is a serious setback in an already long and difficult journey. However, Bonjour has proven time and again that he is a fighter. From surviving devastating fractures to enduring major surgery, he has shown incredible resilience. Right now, our focus is on stabilizing him, managing his symptoms, and giving him every possible chance to recover once again. We are hopeful that, with continued care and support, he can overcome this chapter too.

Donti
Stabbed in the Head, Still Fighting: Help Save Donti
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Donti came to Baw Baw Animal Welfare clinging to life. He had suffered an unimaginable act of violence — a knife had penetrated his skull and entered his brain. By the time he arrived, the damage was catastrophic. The entire left side of his body showed no neurological reflexes. He was unresponsive, fading, and in critical condition. Every second mattered. Even the slightest movement caused Donti extreme pain and distress, so the veterinary team had to carefully sedate him just to safely examine him. In those terrifying first moments, the goal wasn’t only to save his life — it was also to give him comfort, dignity, and the gentlest care possible while fighting for him. Advanced imaging revealed the full severity of his injuries. Skull radiographs showed the knife had penetrated through the cranial bones and directly into the brain tissue itself. This was a life-threatening injury with a guarded to poor prognosis due to the high risk of internal bleeding, secondary brain damage, and infection. Waiting was not an option. Emergency neurosurgery was Donti’s only chance. Surgeons performed an extremely delicate and high-risk procedure to carefully remove the knife, control active bleeding, and stabilize the damaged tissue. Against overwhelming odds, Donti survived the surgery — a miracle in itself. Afterward, he remained hospitalized under intensive, around-the-clock care. His emergent care consisted of constant neurological monitoring, pain management, and close observation for complications such as intracranial hemorrhage, neurological decline, infection, or additional bleeding. But make no mistake: Donti is still fighting — hard. In fact, he's recently reached an important milestone: his forehead wound has made huge progress! This is a powerful sign of resilience and determination after everything his body has endured. However, his journey is far from over. This was — and still is — a severe, life-threatening condition. The knife injury caused significant trauma to Donti’s left eye. He was recently evaluated by a veterinary eye specialist, who prescribed five different eye drops along with additional medications to manage pain, reduce inflammation, and prevent further damage. Donti will return in one week for follow-up scans and further evaluation to determine how his eye is responding and whether additional intervention — possibly surgery — will be required. Despite emergency brain surgery, prolonged hospitalization, and now ongoing specialty care, Donti remains gentle, resilient, and determined. Every day he continues to heal is because of the advanced medical care made possible by compassion and support. Emergency neurosurgery, advanced diagnostics, anesthesia, hospitalization, specialty consultations, medications, and continued follow-up care come at an enormous cost. As a rescue, Baw Baw Animal Welfare relies on community support to continue giving Donti the care he desperately needs. Please consider donating today. Every dollar raised through Waggle goes directly toward Donti’s life-saving veterinary care and the treatments still ahead of him. Donti didn’t deserve what happened to him — but he does deserve safety, healing, and a future free from pain. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Donti’s story helps more than you know. Thank you for standing with Donti and showing him the kindness he has always deserved.

Help Loki Heal After a Roadside Accident
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare found Loki lying helpless by the roadside, they could see the fear and pain in his eyes. This young dog had clearly suffered a terrible accident—he was unable to move, his little legs badly wounded, and his body trembling in distress. Rushed to the hospital, Loki was immediately examined and X-rayed. The results were heartbreaking: he had a complete fracture in his left femur and a mild fracture in his sacrum. Even worse, his open wounds had become severely infected, and his bloodwork revealed life-threatening anemia. Despite everything he’s been through, Loki’s gentle spirit still shines through. When volunteers visit him, he wags his tail softly, as if to say he knows he’s safe now. Right now, Loki is on strong antibiotics and antiparasitic treatment for babesiosis, a tick-borne infection that made his condition even more complicated. Once his blood count improves and the infection is under control, he’ll need surgery to repair his broken femur—a crucial step to help him walk, play, and live pain-free again. Loki has already shown incredible will to survive, but he can’t do it alone. Your support can give him the chance to heal and run again. Kael
Hit and Left Helpless — Help Kael Heal and Walk Again
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare found Kael, he was lying helpless on the street — weak, trembling, and unable to walk. Both his tiny legs were badly wounded. He was starving, dehydrated, and in such intense pain that he couldn’t even move to find food or shelter. The team rushed him to the hospital, where vets discovered just how serious his condition was. Kael’s reflexes were almost absent, and his coordination was so poor he couldn’t even hold his head steady. It was clear he had suffered severe trauma — possibly hit by a car or struck by someone. Despite it all, Kael tried to lift his head and wag his tail, as if to say, “Please don’t give up on me.” Now, Kael is receiving urgent treatment and round-the-clock care. His recovery plan includes antibiotics to prevent infection, steroids to reduce brain and spinal inflammation, and nerve-supportive vitamins to help restore his mobility. But this kind of care is expensive, and Baw Baw Animal Welfare depends entirely on compassionate supporters to fund lifesaving treatment for dogs like Kael. Every donation, no matter the size, helps cover Kael’s vet visits, medication, and rehabilitation so he can one day run and play like a healthy puppy again.

Blacky
Blacky is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Burnsville, MN, who needs $2,000 for treatment for skin condition and malnutrition.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare found Blacky, his condition broke our hearts. His body was covered in painful wounds, his fur almost completely gone. Weak, starving, and exhausted, Blacky had been wandering the streets — rejected and ignored by everyone who saw him. People turned away because of how he looked, but all he ever wanted was a gentle hand and a little kindness. We refused to look away. Our team rescued Blacky and rushed him into care. After thorough testing, we ruled out mange, hypothyroidism, and distemper. The most likely cause of his severe hair loss and poor skin condition is a fungal infection — one that’s left him raw, itchy, and deeply uncomfortable. Blacky has now started antifungal treatment, including oral medication and nutritional supplements to help his body heal from the inside out. Despite everything he’s endured, this brave boy is gentle, affectionate, and already showing small signs of hope. But recovery will take time — and continued medical support. Your donation can help cover the cost of his ongoing treatments, medication, and proper nutrition so that one day soon, Blacky can wag his tail without pain and grow back his beautiful coat.

Lenny
Lenny is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Burnsville, MN, who needs $2,000 for treatment for tick fever and enucleation.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare first found Lenny, the sight was almost too painful to bear. Both of his eyes had been pushed out of their sockets — a level of cruelty and suffering no animal should ever experience. He was blind, weak, and in excruciating pain, unable even to stand. Near his ear, a deep wound was infested with maggots — evidence that he had been left to suffer alone for days. At the veterinary clinic, Lenny’s bloodwork revealed the extent of his condition: a dangerously high white blood cell count indicating a severe infection, anemia from prolonged illness, and a tick-borne blood parasite called Babesiosis. The medical team immediately began treatment for infection and tick fever, and he is now under continuous monitoring. Thanks to their care, Lenny is starting to stabilize — but he still faces a long road ahead. Once he is strong enough, he will need a delicate enucleation surgery to remove both damaged eyes and finally end his pain. Lenny’s courage and will to live are extraordinary. After all he’s endured, he deserves a second chance — one filled with safety, love, and comfort instead of suffering.

Seeing him in such a heartbreaking state was devastating. No innocent soul should ever have to endure such pain. From the moment Atlas entered our care, we knew we had to fight for him. His wounds were cleaned, treated, and medicated. He was started on antibiotics, and after just a week, his breathing was stable, his wounds were healing, and treatment for mange was added to his care. He is gaining weight and responding positively to all treatments—a true testament to his resilience and will to survive. Atlas’s story is one of survival against cruelty, but now, with the love and care of Baw Baw Animal Welfare, he has a real chance at a future filled with safety, comfort, and kindness. His eye had protruded, his jaw and upper facial bones were fractured, and he was bleeding, unable to eat or drink. His cries of agony were heartbreaking. Alone and suffering, he had no one—until we reached him. As if this wasn’t enough, Rex had also been battling TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor), a contagious cancer in dogs. Despite his painful condition, we rushed him into emergency surgical correction to stabilize him and begin his treatment. Today, Rex is under intensive care for TVT and wound healing management. Once his wounds fully recover, our veterinary team will perform pin placement surgery for joint stabilization. Until then, he remains under close observation and supportive treatment, receiving the love and care he has been denied for so long. Kobe
Kobe is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Burnsville, MN, who needs $1,500 for emergency treatment and jaw surgery.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When we found Kobe, he was lying helpless in the street after a terrible accident. His lower jaw was shattered and bleeding heavily, leaving him unable to eat, drink, or even close his mouth. It was a heartbreaking sight—Kobe was in excruciating pain, and without urgent care, he would not have survived. We rushed him to the clinic, where he was sedated and stabilized. His examination revealed the full extent of his injuries, and our veterinary team immediately began treatment to stabilize him, stop the bleeding, and treat the pain. Kobe’s journey is far from over. Once he is stable enough, he will require surgery to repair his broken jaw—a critical step to help him eat, drink, and live without pain again. This sweet boy has already endured so much suffering, yet he is still fighting with incredible strength. With your support, we can ensure Kobe gets the surgery and continued care he desperately needs.

Bubbles
Bubbles is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Burnsville, MN, who needs $1,500 for emergency care.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When we found her, Bubbles was lying helplessly on the street with her eight tiny puppies. All of them were struggling to survive, but tragically, by the time we reached them, it was too late to save her babies. Bubbles not only carries the physical pain of her condition but also the grief of losing her newborns. Her resilience, even in her suffering, is heartbreaking to witness. At the clinic, Bubbles presented with severe anorexia (loss of appetite), a recumbent posture (unable to stand), difficulty breathing, and painful eye discharge. She showed shallow abdominal movement, a weak and bounding pulse, and congested lungs. Our vets suspected life-threatening conditions such as hypoglycemia (dangerously low blood sugar after giving birth), eclampsia (a calcium deficiency often fatal in nursing mothers), or even distemper (a viral disease). To stabilize her, we began urgent treatment, including an antibiotic, a corticosteroid to reduce inflammation, glucose, B12, and other medications. Bubbles is fighting for her life, but she cannot do it without your help. She needs ongoing treatment, careful monitoring, and continued medical support to heal both physically and emotionally from this trauma.

Arthur
Arthur is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Burnsville, MN, who needs $1,500 for PT and treatment for injury.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When we found him, Arthur was lying helpless on the roadside after a tragic accident. For days, he had been suffering in silence, struggling to move while exposed to the harsh conditions of the street. He was in so much pain that he could barely walk, and his broken body told the story of immense suffering. We rushed Arthur to the clinic, where the examination revealed devastating injuries: difficulty walking, absent reflexes, and a dangerously dilated rectum. Despite all he has endured, Arthur still has a fighting spirit—and with urgent treatment, he has a chance at recovery. Arthur is now receiving Physiotherapy to support movement and healing, methylprednisolone IV, a potent corticosteroid to reduce spinal inflammation, and cefotaxime, a strong antibiotic to prevent infection. But his road to recovery is long, and he cannot do it without help. Your donation will go directly toward Arthur’s life-saving treatment and ongoing care, giving him the chance to walk again. Arthur has already shown incredible courage. With your support, we can give him the second chance he so desperately needs. Please, help us write a new chapter in Arthur’s story—one filled with healing, comfort, and hope.

Hunter
Help Hunter Heal What Distemper Left Behind
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When Baw Baw Animal Welfare first stepped in, Hunter’s jaw wouldn’t stop moving. Not the cute little chatter dogs do when they’re excited—this was involuntary, constant, and painful. His mouth trembled so hard he could barely eat, barely drink, barely perform the most basic things every dog deserves to do without thinking. And here’s the tough part: this isn’t a brand-new injury. This is the aftermath of something he already survived. A year ago, Hunter fought off canine distemper—a brutal disease that should’ve taken him out. He survived the fevers, the weakness, the neurological storm raging through his body. He came out the other side. And he won. But distemper doesn’t always let go cleanly. What you’re seeing now—the constant jaw tremors, the struggle to close his mouth—is the neurological fallout of that illness. It’s the ghost of a battle he already fought once, still haunting him today. The tiny piece of hope in all this? Hunter CAN get better. He doesn’t need invasive medical procedures. Instead, what he needs is ongoing physiotherapy, supportive exercises, and consistent, hands-on care to retrain his neuromuscular coordination. With consistent care and monitoring, his prognosis is good—he just needs the chance to get there. But the rescue is drowning in medical bills, and this kind of long-term supportive care is expensive. Your support will give Hunter access to the physiotherapy and ongoing care he needs to eat and drink more comfortably, regain strength, and live the happy, pain-free life he deserves. Please consider donating to Hunter today. Update 11/16/25 We’re so relieved and grateful to share that Hunter’s health is improving. His jaw tremors have eased, and his overall condition is better than when he first entered care. Even more encouraging—his appetite, behavior, and water intake are all back to normal. These are huge milestones for a dog who once struggled to eat and drink without pain. But Hunter’s journey isn’t over yet. His continued progress depends on ongoing physiotherapy, supportive care, and regular monitoring, all of which come with significant costs. The rescue is still facing overwhelming medical bills, and Hunter needs continued support to keep healing and regain full comfort and strength. Update 12/17/25 Hunter is alert, active, and responsive to his surroundings. He enjoys people, familiar sounds and smells, eats and drinks regularly, sleeps well, and has moments of playfulness balanced with rest. While this progress gives us hope, Hunter still needs ongoing physiotherapy, supportive care, and regular monitoring to continue healing. These long-term needs come with significant medical costs, and the rescue is still facing overwhelming bills. Please consider supporting Hunter’s continued recovery. Your help gives him the chance to keep moving forward toward a comfortable, happy life. 💙

Diesel
Diesel is a 4 month old Mix-Breed in Burnsville, MN, who needs $1,500 for treatment for babesiosis.
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
When Diesel was found by Baw Baw Animal Welfare, he was lying on the roadside in a heartbreaking state—severely neglected, weak, and covered in an overwhelming tick infestation that had clearly been tormenting him for months. His body was burdened with ticks from head to tail, leaving him in extreme discomfort and distress. By the time he was rescued, Diesel could no longer cope. He was lethargic, frail, and his gums and mucous membranes were dangerously pale. At the hospital, bloodwork confirmed the devastating impact of his neglect: severe anemia with alarmingly low red blood cell counts. Veterinarians immediately started him on antiprotozoal treatment for babesiosis (a tick-borne disease) and gave a flea and tick treatment. He will need continued medical care, monitoring, and supportive treatments to rebuild his strength and give him the chance he deserves. With your help, Diesel can finally leave behind the months of suffering he endured on the streets and begin a new chapter filled with safety, comfort, and love. Update 12/11/25 Diesel is doing remarkably well. His treatments for babesiosis and anemia are working, and this brave boy has been able to remain in a loving home environment throughout his recovery. Staying at home has kept his stress levels low, his spirits high, and his healing steady. His gums are slowly regaining color, his energy is returning, and he’s finally experiencing the comfort and peace he was denied for so long. Every small improvement is a testament to the compassion of everyone who helped give him this second chance. Diesel still has more progress ahead of him—continued monitoring, supportive care, and follow-up treatments—but he is truly on the right path. Update 12/19/25 Diesel continues to fight quietly and bravely every single day—and that strength is because of you. At this stage, Diesel’s condition remains stable, and that consistency is exactly what we hoped for. His treatment plan for babesiosis and severe anemia is ongoing, and he is still being closely monitored to ensure his red blood cell levels continue moving in the right direction. Healing from months of extreme neglect doesn’t happen overnight, but Diesel is holding steady and responding as expected. He remains in a calm, loving home environment, which has been critical for his recovery. Keeping his stress low allows his body to focus on healing, and it’s clear how much this has helped him. His demeanor is gentle, his appetite is present, and he’s showing quiet signs of resilience that remind us why he’s worth every ounce of effort. If you’ve already donated, thank you for being part of Diesel’s lifeline. If you’re able to give—or give again—your support right now ensures he can continue receiving the care he needs to survive and heal. Diesel has come too far to stop now. Please consider donating or sharing his story to help carry him through the rest of his recovery.

Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare

For months, Nova battled a severe skin rash that spread across his body, leaving him weak, frail, and in constant pain. Each day, his strength faded as he silently carried the burden of his illness, with no one to comfort him. By the time we found him, Nova was barely hanging on—struggling just to take each breath. His skin was red, inflamed, and unbearably itchy. Despite his condition, Nova’s spirit still flickered through—he never lost his appetite or will to survive. A blood test revealed just how dire his situation was: his white blood cell count was dangerously high, signaling a serious infection, and his platelets were abnormally low. He urgently needed medical care, and we immediately started him on antibiotics and steroids to fight the infection and bring him some relief. Now Nova finally has a chance—but he can’t do it without you. Community Spay & Neuter!
Baw Baw Animal Welfare needs $2,000 for their Community Spay/Neuter Program!
Burnsville, MN • Baw Baw Animal Welfare
Baw Baw Animal Welfare We are putting on a 2-day spay/neuter campaign – running 48 hours straight – on August 30 to September 1. The late hours are to help make it easier on pet owners who work during the day, so that they can even bring their pet in the middle of the night. By preventing unwanted litters, we can curb the exponential growth of the stray animal population and reduce the burden on already overcrowded shelters. Additionally, spaying/neutering has numerous health benefits for animals, including a decreased risk of certain types of cancers and behavioral issues. Our spay/neuter events like this one are open to the community, with the goal being to spay and neuter as many dogs and cats as we can in the area. We provide free spay and neuter surgeries for stray animals as well as owned animals in low-income communities, and currently are able to give 50% of the spay/neuter spots to owned pets. With the DOGust Waggle Grant, we would absolutely be able to increase the current amount of spay/neuters provided during each event. Background: In Sri Lanka, the issue of stray dogs and cats is a significant concern that affects both the animals and the community as a whole. The country's stray animal population has grown substantially over the years, posing various challenges and raising important animal welfare issues. Each year, we actively promote and implement spay/neuter programs to assist pet owners and help control the stray population. Among other goals, these programs aim to provide affordable sterilization services to reduce breeding and prevent the birth of unwanted litters. Public education and awareness campaigns are vital in changing attitudes and promoting responsible pet ownership. These initiatives aim to highlight the importance of spaying/neutering, proper care, and humane treatment of animals. By fostering empathy and understanding, the hope is to reduce abandonment and neglect, thereby decreasing the number of stray animals. Our approach includes collaborating with local veterinary clinics, engaging experienced veterinarians, and establishing temporary clinics in targeted communities. By working closely with local authorities, community leaders, and volunteers, we aim to create a collaborative effort that will have lasting effects on animal welfare.
